Malinki, sorry to hear about that BFN. It's probably a good idea to talk to someone about the symptoms you are having. As for waiting until the 22nd, I guess just see how you feel. If you're in pain though you might want to see your GP sooner.

Cyndii, I so know what you mean about getting worked up. I remember with DS I would think I was being very calm about it all, get another BFN and just burst into tears. I usually felt better after a good cry though. I did fly in the first 12 weeks with DS. It was a long haul flight (12 hours) and had no problems. My doc said that there's very little risk. She just told me to wear flight socks to avoid DVT and take a tiny does of aspirin to thin the blood a little. I also had to walk around and drink a lot of water on the flight, but that's always good advice anyway.

Runtus, you should talk to your doc about the malaria tablets. I don't think you can TTC while taking them or for a period of time afterwards. You have to wait for them to totally leave your body. Do check though. I know there are different kinds of tablets so maybe things have changed.

Miranda2, that does sound confusing. I guess it could be stress-related. Have you ever used OPKs? That could help pinpoint your fertile time this month. Good luck to you!

Joannee, welcome!

Bluestar, good luck! This is the hardest and most exciting time of the month. So much possibility! Fingers crossed for you!

strawberry · 12/07/2004 18:13

Thanks for the welcome messages.
Tex111 - I am on day 4 of cycle so early days. I had a D&C one month ago so haven't waited too long. Before mc we had been ttc since January.
Runtus - I've checked the BNF (drugs bible) and there are some malaria drugs that you can take while pg/ttc but you will need to check carefully with your doc who will be able to get advice from Malaria Reference Lab on your specific destination. HTH.

As there seem to be a few people temping on this thread, a silly question - by how much do you expect your temperature to go up to indicate you have ovulated? I've started using Fertility Friend (which is fab) so I've gone from being the person who said she'd stop temping to someone extremely interested in all minor changes (I just love the graph you get on FF, so much more informative than my old list of numbers!)

Re the conversation re BD every other night - whenever I'm knackered (which is most of the time as I work long hours) I just remind myself how much I want a baby and how disappointing it is when AF arrives (+ the nights we just don't manage it I set the alarm early the next day!). So far DH has been grumbling about lack of romance/feeling that the whole thing has become a bit scientific but whenever he does I remind him how hormonal I get each month when we don't get pg - that seems to motivate him!

Cyndii · 12/07/2004 19:00

Bluestar ~ one week for you and 1 1/2 week for me I'm due my af on the 19th ~ but I have serious doubts that it will happen??? Just wait but I'm not going to buy a pregnancy kit until after the 19th (hopefully I won't have af and will need to buy one. How much are they in England I assume most of you ladies are in England. Here in Ireland it's E16 for two, which is pricey when you get a negative.

Tex111~ thanks for the info re flights as my flight will be only 1 hr so that won't be too bad.

Lostinparis ~ Good idea to say that to dh he really feels it's so impersonal litterally drop your drawers and action NOW!!!! I thought men would be delighted!! Glad he is not the only one.

Take care

xoz · 13/07/2004 01:03

haven't tested today... but no AF maybe I'll test tommorrow... feeling bloated, nearly crashed the car yesterday (dh can tell if i'm pg by my driving, he reckons), light brown spotting, feeling quite irritable... fingers crossed

Tex111 · 13/07/2004 10:13

Had a temp jump this morning from 97.3 to 97.9 so I figure I Oved two days ago on CD18. That would be a bit late for me but my cycles might've changed since the last time I temped three years ago.

Lostinparis, I think it varies for each lady but my temp jump is usually about .5 degrees. I also found that my temp jumped two days after O, but I think that varies too. Do they have chart galleries on Fertility Friend? I found it really useful to look at other people's charts in comparison to my own.

Xoz, sounding very positive! Good luck!

Azure · 13/07/2004 13:11

ChaCha - glad you've signed in to this thread after your break. Miranda2, sorry to hear about AF - is it still very light? Welcome Joannee and Strawberry. Xoz - it all sounds very promising. Are you going to test today? Fingers crossed...

BeckiF · 13/07/2004 15:31

Started back on the Metformin yesterday, I am supposed to be on 3g a day (6 tabs) but am starting with one 500mg tab at lunchtime. Even with the one tab I've got the bad tummy etc. I'm going to wean myself back onto them ... still no AF....think my wob is probably full of dust and shipwrecks!! Not funny really ... humour's a great thing! Maybe I'll still be on the TTC thread when some of YOUR babies are trying LOL!!

Staceyk · 13/07/2004 15:37

Well done Beckif, I know how much you hate Metformin (don't we all) but it does get better honestly.
Good luck to you, and stick with it, try to eat low fat meals, not for a dieting purpose but I find my stomach worse on metformin after a fatty dinner, cheese is a killer!
We're all here with you

Azure · 13/07/2004 16:42

Good for you BeckiF - I hope you don't suffer too badly from the effects.

runtus · 13/07/2004 17:34

Juat been tot he Dr's and they said I don't need Malaria tablets afterall, so I guess that is one less thing to worry about......Think tonight might be the night for bding (judging by my CF)so even if he complains about 'perfoming to order' I'm going to jump on him!

Welcome to all the newcomers too!

xoz · 13/07/2004 17:46

runtus - lol - poor bloke
Sorry everyone. I haven't tested yet. I keep telling myself not to get my hopes up too much... but still no AF.

lostinparis · 13/07/2004 19:16

The suspense is killing me xos - I'm so hoping we'll have a graduate this week (to keep the success rate at 100%) so fingers crossed it'll be you (and hopefully others on this tread)

Azure · 13/07/2004 19:18

Xoz, I'm sorry but it is your duty on this thread to test. We haven't had our graduate yet this week and it's already Thursday afternoon. You may be our last hope.

OP posts:
ChaCha · 13/07/2004 21:18

Azure, are we the only 'oldies' on here now? Where did everyone else go?

Back to TTC sooooon.....

Moomin · 13/07/2004 21:45

no -I'm an oldie and still lurking! Seeing consultant on Tuesday after lap&dye 4 weeks ago. have been ttc for 18 months. Will maybe post again ina week or so. Good luck all oldies and newies ttc!

xoz · 13/07/2004 23:38

Sorry everyone, just did a test and BFN...
I'll not give up till AF arrives though. With dd2 it took 2 weeks after AF was due to finally get a BFP!!!!

mrsflowerpot · 13/07/2004 23:39

sorry to hear that xoz. Give AF a few more days and if she still doesn't show her sorry face then test again!

I'm due on Saturday and am currently avoiding the aisle with the tests in Tesco as my willpower is zero...

strawberry · 13/07/2004 23:47

I saw an advert on tv today for a new pg test claiming to be the so sensitive that you can test 3 days before you're due! Did I hear that right? I think it was a new First Response test. Anyone else heard of this?

Slink · 13/07/2004 23:52

Bluestar did the ovulation packs but they say from 12 days onwardsd well did nothing happend, just been on another site get 20 sticks and 2 tests for £14.95 (can i say that on here??? so will send off and start again. good luck to all those waiting to hear some news xxx

Piffleoffagus · 13/07/2004 23:56

never thought I'd ever join a ttc board... luckily I conceived my first 2 literally by inhaling the pregnant air overnight.
Been ttc no 3 without over trying for 5 months, this month we are hammer and tongs at ovulation time... I have been having odd cylces, 7 days heavy bleed than 7 days light bleed... very odd..
Hope to hear good news from lots of people soon!
AF is due here next saturday (9 days) so fingers crossed...
Good luck everyone!!

bluestar · 14/07/2004 00:23

Still about and feel like I've been here forever. Have my moments when I post alot but more recently trying not to get so obsessed! This month, I feel like I have hit the jackpot in terms of the day I ovulated coinciding with the only night of bding (did manage to get dh to 'release' the oldies the day before, too tired for anything else that night!) but whether the egg was fertilised, I have no idea and no feelings either way, like most months really. Currently on 8DPO, usually start spotting around 10DPO so will have some idea of the turn of events at the weekend. Would really love a March baby if anyone is listening and wants to grant me my wish!!!!

Good luck to those nearing the end too.

aku · 14/07/2004 08:43

I am going to bury my head in the sand till Friday as I have got the day off then. Thinking of every body on this thread. Good Luck all and thanks for responding to my query.

katierocket · 14/07/2004 10:16

sorry if this is a really naive question but is it possible to ovulate late in a month? (rather than day 14 on a 28 day cycle for e.g.)
