Happy new year everyone!! Hope 2017 brings us lots of lovely babies 👶👶🏻👶🏼👶🏾

Loved the pictures and reading all your positivity as always, you're the best

As expected 1st Jan is CD1 for me so likely IUI on Friday 13th - good thing I'm not superstitious!

Pez82 · 01/01/2017 11:47

pickle162 · 01/01/2017 12:07

Will not till

INeedNewShoes · 01/01/2017 13:07

Pickle - I could have found out the gender at my scan last week but I decided not to. I didn't feel strongly about whether to find out or not but had decided I would find out if I already had a 'hunch' or preference about the gender. As it turns out I haven't got a clue what I'm having and don't feel particularly attached to one gender. When I imagine my toddler, sometimes I see a girl and sometimes a boy! I think something my miscarriage did for me was that it honed my focus onto just wanting a healthy baby and not really giving a stuff about the gender!

Blush that was a longwinded way of saying that I've opted not to find out Grin

pickle162 · 01/01/2017 14:13

Lol! I'd want to know but that's cos I'm
impatient but not overly bothered as to which gender...as you say healthy baby all the way is most important:)

StorkAhoy · 01/01/2017 14:56

Hello all and happy new year!

I woke today to AF, which is great as it's exactly when it was expected and means my body has swung straight back into a 28 day cycle after the failed transfer. It's great as it helps me plan for me next go.

taydex what a great photo!

shoes how lovely, turning your mc into a strong focus, that's excellent. I'd go bonkers not being able to plan to the nth degree though!

kwick I'm getting uber excited for you now!

I've been sick with the flu for a week, but started turning the corner today, and have finally cleaned the house of decorations and Christmas stuff. Feel much brighter now.
It did make me think though, I could barely walk, how the hell would I take care of a baby on my own if I got sick? Scary thought.

Off to dog walk and then to see Fantastic Beasts with the mother unit.

INeedNewShoes · 01/01/2017 15:56

Stork - I think that all we can do is build a good support network locally. A couple of my older friends have declared themselves 'surrogate southern grandparents' as my parents are 300 miles away up north. Fine by me if people want to pledge support Grin

I also assume that maternal instinct will kick in and that we'll do things we would have never thought ourselves capable of in order to look after our children.

There are also charities that would help out if necessary.

taydex · 01/01/2017 18:53

I was amazed and surprised at how much local support we got when we had Mya. I thought it was going to be tough with the nearest family an hour and a half away but some local folk (friends and neighbours) have been amazing.

kwick · 01/01/2017 19:26

stork sorry you have been unwell - get well soon Flowers

I joined another thread "pregnant and over 40" and introduced myself as single... and someone gave me sympathy that the father was not standing by me Confused maybe I should introduce myself as happily single?

More cramping- I hope this is a good sign? I have my blood test tomorrow!

OP posts:
pickle162 · 01/01/2017 19:32

Perhaps they don't quite get the some of us chose to go into this single. Suspect they'll be a lot of this but at least nowadays there are so many different types of families that it's all more acceptable.

Hope the cramping is just a normal symptoms. Good luck with the blood tests tomorrow x

pickle162 · 01/01/2017 19:35

Also stork imagine when start going to anti natal classes or baby classes you'll make friends with people who am sure will help you out as you will for them :)

INeedNewShoes · 01/01/2017 19:54

I was crampy around the same time Kwick with a little bit of spotting in my too. I think it can feel crampy when the egg is implanting.

Hope you have a good appointment tomorrow!

CautionHormone · 01/01/2017 21:42

First day of the new year can only mean good things - new resolutions (I wonder if I'll stick to them?! Hmm) new starts & a new mindset. The end of the year was rubbish for me - spent the majority of it really poorly, but I'm determined to make this year count for something...

Taydex, that's such a beautiful photo. How's you & Mya doing??

Shoes, you're such a brave lady. Turning your mc's into something positive is such an amazing thing to do... How many weeks are you now?? When's your due date? I can't seem to remember! Sorry to hear about your dad - I can see where you get your strength from!

Kwick I'm so excited for you Grin so glad you've got a stronger line on the FRERs! Everything crossed for a good app tomorrow 😘

Hope the 1st day of 2017 has been a good one for everyone. ❤️

INeedNewShoes · 01/01/2017 21:45

Oops my last post didn't make sense. The end of my first sentence should have read 'in my case too'!

Caution - I'm 21 weeks and my due date is 10th of May but I'll be induced two weeks earlier due to my blood clotting issues.

I hope this year gets off to a good start for you. Great to have a positive outlook Smile

CautionHormone · 01/01/2017 21:55

Aw your due date is near my birthday, Shoes - my birthday is the 12th! At least you get to meet baby two weeks earlier!
How is everything going with your blood clotting issues? Is it all still ok?
Thank you. With a positive outlook, you can never really go wrong. I've just ordered a Happiness Planner because I was intrigued & thought it would help put things into perspective! Hope you're good 😘

pickle162 · 02/01/2017 18:10

So knowledgeable peeps for the preg tests u use is it any first response ones that are the best to use or the actual brand first response (being a bit thick) Superdrug have them on offer but don't know whether their own 1st response ones would be worth a go or more expensive ones.....just getting things organised in advance :) thankies x

INeedNewShoes · 02/01/2017 19:20

I'd allow yourself a branded First Response for your OTD at least. I tried all of the following at some point: Superdrug earlies, Tesco earlies, Lloyd's earlies, One-step, Cassanovum.

Because money is tight for me I settled on generally using the Cassanovum brand cheapies for very early testing then allow myself one or two FRERs for nearer my due date.

You can get good deals online on all brands of test.

The parcel I'm sending you has six of the one-step internet pregnancy test cheapies (but they're pretty hopeless tests really!).

OPK wise I'm sending you 22 internet cheapies and 8 Clearblues.

kwick · 02/01/2017 19:21

So pickle first off sooooooooo exciting you are buying HPTs!!! FRER are the "First Response Early Response" brand - bright pink box. That said I did a FRER and a superdrug one on same day and got same response - see below

INeedNewShoes · 02/01/2017 21:00

Friday must seem like an age away Kwick. 187 doesn't sound terribly low?

Fingers crossed that it has risen the right amount by Friday.
