Hi Caution
Don't stress, stress is bad for your eggs Wink. I have found that fertility food is really good for weight loss too so you might be able to kill 2 birds with one stone! I don't need to lose weight but I suffer a lot from terrible IBS and so far the fertility diet has helped me, which in turns helps me relax.
I eat a lot of bright vegs (broccoli, spinach, red peppers, asparagus etc), pulses (lentils and quinoa are really good), salmon, mussels, nuts and probiotic yoghurt, all of which are really good for egg health Smile

I've stopped coffee and alcohol (and sugar) and some days it's hard but it's for a worthy cause.

And as Karen says water is good!!

I know shoes Sad but 3lb is kind of a lot when I only had like 4lb to lose and now it's jumped up to 7! I'm yoyoing so bad. Back to the gym tonight, so hopefully I'll start seeing a difference within a few weeks!

karen I drink water anyway - I don't drink hot drinks and I'm not one for alcohol. I occasionally have juice/squash but that's rare!

pez haha no stressing from me! Wink.
Thank you - I've filled my cupboards and fridge with fertility food at the weekend like everything you suggested so hopefully I see a difference soon! I don't have much to lose - 7lb to get below 35 (BMI) but I'd like to be as much under the 35 mark as I can be. Sorry to hear you struggle with bad IBS - my mum has suffered terribly with that for years and had an op in February, so I know how bad it can be!

pez thanks so much for offering to take notes Grin
BTW are you Spanish?
I was specifically told to empty my bladder before my hycosy. IUI and IVF is done with a full bladder though.

caution I put on weight just thinking about food Hmm

I eat all that too pez plus iced buns

shoes and karen thanks for vote of confidence in my time management - I feel all warm and fuzzy!
I can & I will!!!
Need to remember to drink milk!!! Completely forgot again today!

Hi. Not been on here for ages but I lurk in the background and see how you guys are doing so thought I would update my details. I'm 30 and married to a lady so main fertility issue was lack of sperm. Currently 28 weeks pregnant from IUI (unmedicated & incredibly lucky to have worked first time).

So lovely to read the other success stories - congrats taydex, she's lovely -and shoes I am so happy to hear your wonderful scan news!

Wow you are over half way there right?

So taydex I love your darling daughter's name... but it has been like a puzzle at the back of my mind & I am now ready to share my theory:
You are a strong woman, so it is only fitting you would name your daughter after a strong woman
Why have one, better two
So I think you have Mya for Maya Angelou
And Harper for Harper Lee
Grin I feel like I have solved an Agatha Christie mystery... please don't tell me I am completely bonkers Confused

kwick, I'm French actually but lived many years in Spain before relocating to London and my real name is the name of a fish, hence the nickname - but that was a pretty good guess Wink

taydex the feeling of pride when I manage to not get hand! Surely someone needs to invent another way this can be done. I don't try do it in work just morning and when I get home :)

karen thanks for tip about drinking more water. I'm trying to do that at mo and it's getting easier especially if I keep a bottle of water on my desk as when I get bored of emails ( quite a few times during day) I drink it without really noticing.

I don't know anyone who I could talk to about this kind of stuff so it's lovely being part of this group. I have put odd message on other chats on mumsnet but it's not the same Grin

Is your name Dory or Nemo pez? Wink
Where did you live in Spain? I am half Spanish and I lived for some years in Spain too (Barcelona, Valencia and my beloved Sevilla).

I have the lurgy (again)... think I will go to bed now and try to shake it off.

pickle I am nearly all caught up with Masterchef Australia. Who do you want to win? I am keen on Harry and Matt. Some of the girls are really getting on my boobage: Theresa, Analyse (well I think that is her name) and Mimi...

Wow hoping 28 weeks already?! Gosh how time flies! After they removed my catheter in hospital they gave me a bowl to wee in (to measure how much I'd weed), made it much easier to hit the target! Actually, that's probably a good tip, pee into a jug and pour it in.

kwick - you're right about Harper coming from Harper Lee. I'm not sure where Mya came from. It's a name we've both loved for ages so was an easy win. I like the Maya Angelou link though. We'd have struggled more for names if she'd been a boy. Ooh Masterchef - that's something I can play catch up on 😀

taydex master chef oz is a fab series-good bunch so def worth a download for those I'm feeding and can't do anything else times

kwick matt is def a favourite and I like Chloe too and Im starting to really like Brett but matt or Chloe for me.
Totally agree with the girls-Teresa, mimi and Elise for me 🙄
I'm all caught up-some very good challenges this year :) don't know what I'll do when it finishes altho greys and criminal minds are back so yayyyy

Woke up in sweats worrying about something I don't need to worry about grrrr!!

Well AF pretty much stopped Sunday mostly-shortest and lightest AF of my life- presumably cos 1st one coming off pill, would be great if they were all like that, altho worried it's to do with fertility but equally saying that very proud of my body that after being on pill for sooooo long that I ovulated and had AF on time within the first month which lots of people don't. I think even if they say I can go back on it (unless they specifically want me to go back on) until after all treatment as I need more practice on what my cycle is like, checking for ovulation. This month has really helped having such a lovely AF (if that's possible) I'm sure it won't last and totally going on asap once treatment over and hopefully a little bambino is here :)

Anyway night all Grin

Hopingand - wow not too long for you now Smile It feels like a series of hurdles to me. My next hurdle is the 20 week scan which seems like eons away!

Pickle - don't worry too much about short periods. My periods have only lasted a couple days in recent years which doesn't seem to have affected my fertility. The most important thing is the luteal phase which is the number of days between ovulation and AF starting (which needs to be at least 10 days).

Hope everyone has a good Wednesday Smile

Ah ah kwick, not quite! It's the name of a bigger fish (actually I don't even think it's a fish Wink). I lived in Madrid for 3 years and also Javea near Dénia for a few months previous to that. Spain is my heart country Smile

pickle, like you I was on the pill for 12 years and when I stopped I got the visit from AF exactly 28 days later. It's been regular since then (4+ years) and always very light (even more than when I was on BC I think). This worried me but then the blood flow was perfectly normal when I had the scan so the doctor concluded I must just be lucky. Maybe you'll be the same! I'm actually hoping the vitamins I have been taking for over a month will mean a heavier AF (as I would think there is more lining to shed), I'll see that in about 10 days Smile

Seems sad but I actually enjoy charting, it's nice to see that so far the machine works fine Wink

Don't worry about a short period pickle. I'm glad your body is doing what it needs too.

I was on the pill for 10+ years. Stopped about a year before I started IUI/got pregnant (can't remember when exactly). Periods were a bit weird when I came off the pill but seems to have not affected fertility at all.

CautionHormone · 02/11/2016 13:36

hoping wow! Congratulations on having a boy - 12 weeks will fly by :) has it gone quick so far?

pickle try not to panic too much about AF. It's good that it came on time after being on the pill so long, like you said!! Your body is obviously very good at doing what it needs to do :)

kwick how's the itching going? Did you have your bloods done? Sorry to hear you have the lurgy again Sad you would've thought that with all the vitamins and stuff we take that we wouldn't get poorly!!

I'm debating on going to my GP in a few weeks time before my appointment to see if I can redo my HIV, Hep B & C and Rubella blood tests. Also wonder whether it'll be worth asking him to do the AMH too Hmm

Report
INeedNewShoes · 02/11/2016 15:24

Caution - my GP ran the following tests for me:

CMV
Rubella
HIV
Hep C
Hep B
TSH
Luteneising Hormone
FSH
Oestrodial

But she wasn't able to run AMH for me (I think because this isn't run as a matter of course for NHS fertility referrals), but its always worth asking! I was pleasantly surprised by how many of the tests my GP was able to run for me.

I paid a clinic in Harley St to do the AMH for me. It cost £92.

Report
CautionHormone · 02/11/2016 15:50

Thanks shoes! That's so helpful... I'll write them all down now and see if I can pre-book an appointment within the next few weeks. Like you said, it's always worth asking about the AMH - if I have to pay for it, I don't mind at all, but if my GP can do it I may as well get him to!
I'm also going to get him to do a full blood count & to check my vitamin D too..

Report
taydex · 02/11/2016 16:04

Pretty sure we got the same as shoes done on the NHS and then the AMH done by the clinic which cost just over £100 I think.

Thanks taydex. I'm waiting for the clinic to ring me back so I can find out more about bloods. I'll let you all know what they say :)

Report
pickle162 · 02/11/2016 16:54

Awe thanks all, put my mind at rest about AF, was 12 days between ovulation and AF this time. Really hope they do stay as pleasant as this time....4week 1day and 21 hours until I get my AMH done SmileSmileSmile my clinic charges £90.
I'll prob get all bloods done by clinic unless come out mega bucks as I try and avoid majority of my GPs as I don't like them very much- (one particular arse asked me why was I crying when I was discussing an autoimmune disease I have and he wouldn't prescribe me steroids (for emergency only)for when I went on holiday as said I'm choosing to go away so it's my own fault if it flares up! They ended up prescribing a very short course & did on private prescription rather than NHS which was fab as cost me £2.25 instead of £8+ w@nkers!!!) so yeh anyway as long as isn't extortionate I will stick with my lovely clinic :)
So excited-I've never been a fan of AF but like you Pez I'm enjoying charting and seeing how clever our bodies are

Report
CautionHormone · 02/11/2016 17:32

Jeez pickle your GP doesn't sound very nice Sad they're meant to be understanding and sympathetic, not judgemental and mean!!!

My clinic rang me back... They said that most GP's are charging for blood tests now if you are requesting them, and their prices are extortionate! My GP is quite good so I'm going to go and ask him anyway but I'm really undecided whether to go before or after my consult because the Hep B & C ones only last 3 months.
