Argh! My blinking keyboard strikes again, here's what that message should have said!!

isthis hi and welcome! Fear not, you are not alone, we are all here with you.

When you say it's your one and only IVF next month, what do you mean? It's an nhs round and you only get one free go? Will you not be paying for IVF if this one doesn't work? Tell us all!

Re donor eggs, ok, that's clearly a blow. Why is DP and everyone urging you to continue with own eggs when all medical advice suggests otherwise? What am I missing, or what have I misread?

How do you feel about using a donor?

Are you doing the usual and not so usual prep? Supplements, diet, exercise, positive attitude, mindfulness, acupuncture, reiki, reflexology etc etc in preparation for your IVF cycle?

pickle162 · 29/12/2016 17:48

Welcome isthis we are a good little group and very supportive of each other so feel free to offload x

Hi isthis welcome :) congratulations on the wedding!! I don't have much to offer in the way of advice, but I just wanted to say if you end up using donor eggs I really hope that you are matched quickly. I am looking to 'share' my eggs with IVF, so donate some to someone needing a donor. I know how awful it is to not be able to have a child, and that is just because I was too young/not in a good place to have one. I can't imagine how awful being ready for a baby and then not being able to have one would be... good luck, and lots of positive vibes.

sorry for the double post, dodgy internet

isthismummy · 29/12/2016 22:21

Thank you for the welcomes everybody :)

StorkAhoy. I meant one and only NHS IVF cycle. We only get one where we are unfortunately.

We would definitely pay for more rounds privately. We will seriously struggle though as far from well off! I think everyone is encouraging me to be positive because they don't want me to loose heart. DP has acknowledged that we may well need to use DE though. My own feelings are that although I would be devastated not to have a biological child, it wouldn't compare to the devastation of not being a mum. I'm just not sure yet how viable IVF with own eggs will prove to be. I don't want to throw money at cycles that have hardly chance of working. It makes no sense, either financially or emotionally.

I'm taking so many supplements I rattle! DHEA, Ubiquinol, the works! I have a pretty healthy diet and already a regular exerciser. Slipped up a bit on the chocolate and booze thing over Christmas though, so need to get back on it after NY. I was getting reflexology, but had to stop as it was costing too much money. Thinking about acupuncture, but again there's the cost issue.

It's been so hard though. You're told to cut out pretty much everything that makes life fun whilst being asked to deal with this terribly stressful emotional experience.

Thank you for listening if you've made it this far Smile

StorkAhoy · 29/12/2016 22:52

isthis yes it's really expensive, many of us on here are single so we have to pay for every round of IUI or IVF, and it really does clock up!

So I guess the question is, are the doctors saying this cycle using your eggs has hardly any chance of success? And are you ok with moving ahead with your eggs with that success rate?

im only using donor sperm as while I'm 38 my eggs appear to be ok though my Amh is a bit low at 12.6, but my sister in law has offered her eggs if mine degrade further with the next round. And I would be ok with that. I would be carrying the baby and giving birth to her/him. If my doctor told me to move to donor eggs, then knowing how tough if is, I would do it. That's only my opinion obviously I'm sure others here would weigh in too. And I'm sure you're considering all your options.

Yes it's all an expense isn't it!? A drain on the old bank account, but for a great cause!

kwick · 29/12/2016 22:55

Welcome isthis!!!
What an hard dilemma... why are you sure your own eggs will not work? If magic potion is an issue you should be offered ICSI.

Ladies hope is beginning to desert me... and now my flipping internet is on the blink....

Hola, ladies! Sorry I've been MIA... Had so much going on, then Christmas came, & now Christmas has gone I can finally breathe and rejoice in my new found freedom. Until July, anyway!!

How has everyone been?! I've read right back from where I last left the thread, and seen what everyone's been up to..

Karen, I'm so sorry you had to let Jack go. What an awful time this must be for you; just know we're all here with bundles of support. Flowers

Kwick, yay for your IUI attempt - I know you've been getting BFN but you've still got a few days til your OTD, don't lose hope!

Shoes - thanks for asking about me when I wasn't on the thread. 💗 How's you and baby doing?? We need pictures of bump!! Grin I'm so glad your 20wk scan went well & your bumps popped... It must be a lovely feeling.

How's everyone else doing? Xx

CautionHormone · 29/12/2016 23:06

Oh, & quick question - someone (I can't remember who!) mentioned Cryos Sperm Bank shipping to private addresses; I knew they did that, but I thought it was illegal? Hmm

StorkAhoy · 29/12/2016 23:16

kwick honey I know it's really tough, you can't lose hope till you have a sign one way or the other, I know you know that, but I thought I'd say it anyway! Chin up, PMA engaged. Xoxo

kwick · 30/12/2016 07:43

EEEEEEKKKKKKKKK kwick I see a second line. SmileSmileSmileSmile
Hope that little line gets darker and darker!
That would seriously make my year!CakeFlowers

isthismummy · 30/12/2016 08:33

Congratulations kwick. That's a pretty good line you've got going right thereFlowers

isthismummy · 30/12/2016 08:41

StorkAhoy and kwick. I've been told my own eggs are unlikely to work due to my low amh (1.7) I know people do conceive naturally with low amh, but my dp's poor motility is basically even ruling that chance out.

I'm trying to look at this NHS cycle as a dummy run. If it's a total disaster egg wise then I will seriously consider just moving straight to ED.

It's been such a emotional roller coaster. We only decided to start ttc in May! To go from such elation to such despair so quickly has really taken it's toll on us.

Been researching donor sperm prices and wow, cannot believe the cost. Everything so expensive in U.K. Has anyone here been abroad for treatment? That is what we will be doing. No way can we afford it hereSad

taydex · 30/12/2016 08:42

Hi ladies,

Sorry for the break, turns out having a baby doesn't give you as much time to play on the internet! Smile LOL.

Slowly making my way through the posts since I was last here but eeep! Kwick that's amazing!!!! Well done you. PMI all the way sweetie. Congratulations.

Back once I've caught up some more...

xx

taydex · 30/12/2016 08:52

Karen - So sorry to hear of your loss. We have 2 black labs and nearly lost one of them after chronic liver failure last November. He's a trooper though and came back from the brink. I fear it's only a matter of time though now Sad He is getting old and slow. Must stay positive. Know you did the right thing for Jack though, however hard it is. Sending hugs xx

Shoes - Ooh, how exciting. I went on holiday to Canada for 3 weeks at about 22 weeks pregnant. Before I went I was still squeezing in to non maternity clothes but popped while I was away and came back huge LOL. Enjoy every moment of it. I loved being pregnant, seems a distant memory now (even though it was only 10 weeks ago!).

xx

kwick · 30/12/2016 08:57

isthis I have been researching IVI in Spain - really good success rates and the thing is they do not have the same laws as the UK vis a vis magic potion - so there is a more ready supply. shoes is our resident expert on doing IUI in Denmark Grin
But please do not despair - where there is a will there is a way! This thread (and the previous ones) is jam packed with inspirational stories of where strong amazeballs womem have managed to conceive, with a little help from modern medicine.

Ever - Such sad news wipes tear from eye. Welcome back. You know we're all here for you. x

isthismummy · 30/12/2016 09:02

I am henceforth referring to dp's swimmers as magic potionGrin

I am constantly amazed and humbled by the strength shown by the women on here who are finding motherhood a difficult path. I really hope I can be as strong. I feel like all my worst fears are coming true right now. I just have to pray it results in a baby at the end of it all.

taydex · 30/12/2016 09:20

Hoping - how are you doing? Can't be long left for you now. Good luck x

Pez - I took 75mg aspirin during the 2ww and then intermittently up to 12w. The intermittently bit was because I had no issues to say I should take it and I wasn't 100% sure whether to or not. Shoes has some good advice up there, listen to her not me! Wink

sj - that does sound expensive. My rounds of IUI were just over £1k for non medicated and about £1.5k for medicated. I know friends who have done it themselves at home using a donation from a friend and they now have a 2 year old from it so it can work... wouldn't be for me though. I'm 37 now and IUI in a FC gives you much higher % chance of working at my old age!

Stork - I second your comment about Kwick, she IS amazeballs! Smile

Loops - I also used Bourn (although the Cambridge site) and they worked for me Smile

taydex · 30/12/2016 09:59

Apologies, I'm catching up in backwards order so my comments are probably coming over a bit random... So hard to do on my phone but I'm too lazy to move the 2 feet over to where my ipad/laptop are!!!

Pickle - My AMH levels were low and I now have a 10 week old... Sorry I don't know the numbers, I don't think my clinic told me and I didn't think to ask. Oh, and I also took pregnacare conception with no issues but might just be me...

Pez82 · 30/12/2016 10:05

Morning all! Well, you lot have been busy lately... hope you all had a lovely Xmas break

kwick, what a first post to read in the morning!! I'm so ecstatic for you, stay warm Smile

I read all the messages while being back home for Xmas (I'm back in London now though). I had to take a step back these past 2 weeks as the prep for my first IUI turned into obsession and I've been feeling slightly stressed - it's due to excitement more than anything else but I'm conscious this could have a negative impact so I'm trying to focus on other things at the moment (although I'm finding it impossible not to think about it for more than 20min in a row, it's constantly on the back of my mind!!)

I'm only 2 weeks away from my 1st IUI ahhhh!!

pickle, not long to go for your appointment now Wink

And welcome to all the newbies 😊

Pez82 · 30/12/2016 10:08

taydex, I'm impressed, that's a lot to catch up on! Thanks for the aspirin comment, I decided not to take it this month and I forgot to ask the nurse at my appointment so will ask at my first US next week. But if my lining is still thin I'll probably give it a go

INeedNewShoes · 30/12/2016 10:24

Oh my god Kwick! That's the best news ever Grin Lovely clear line. What better end to 2016 than a BFP Smile

Sorry, I haven't read anyone else's updates yet. The test photo caught my eye first!
