I have been trying since September 2015 - I have done 4 un-medicated IUIs, 1 medicated IUI and a stimulated IVF, which resulted in a BFP but I sadly MC at 8 weeks. That was back in April 2016. In September I did another IVF, "natural" this time. Unfortunately no BFP. I am now just starting a cycle of "natural" IUI.

Stork here, single 38, using own eggs and donor sperm.

TTC#1 and currently undergoing my first round of IVF (2.5 wks in).

Hi ladies,

So glad I found this thread! I joined another SMBC group a few weeks back but they're based in America/Canada so thrilled this one is UK based . I'm 34 and live in London.

I've had my 1st appointment nearly a month ago and it's my second month charting (I also started taking Pregnacare vitamins which messed up with my cycle this month so I'm sticking to Folic acid, Vitamin D and a few other fertility friendly supplements as well as a proper fertility diet to make sure I have good eggs once I'm ready to start in January). I stopped drinking and seriously cut on coffee and so far so good!
I'll be doing the Hycosy next month as well as the blood tests. I will be using the European SB (already have chosen my favourites but need my CMV status to confirm). The plan is to start with a round of 3 IUIs.

Is anyone here going to the fertility show next weekend?? It's in Shepherd's Bush - London. I'm going on Sunday and have registered for a 'single women' session. Would be great to meet others going through the same!

One of this thread's success stories Baby Mya born 20 October 2016 after 5 rounds of IUI (plus a further 2 where they messed up the medication and cycles were stopped early). All rounds were medicated apart from the last one (the one that worked) which was "natural"/non-medicated.
We did IUI as I am married to a woman so therefore little wrigglers missing.

I have my first consultation on the 9th December, and have already had an appointment with the donor coordinator in July. Hoping to go ahead with IUI (unsure on natural/medicated yet) beginning of next year depending on weight.

Welcome pez! How did your first appointment go? What clinic have you decided on?
You'll find that we're all a bit crazy on here but you won't get better support anywhere else. taydex is the perfect example of how it can work - even if it doesn't feel like it sometimes!!

Oh yeah, and I'm a single woman!!

Have an appointment with my gynaecologist on Thursday that I COMPLETELY forgot about - he will not be happy with me because of my weight, even tho I have lost since I saw him last he expects miracles!

Thanks Caution! I'm using Create (the one by St Paul's). It's only a 10min walk from work so I plan on sneaking out during breaks for the scans and treatment . 1st consultation went very well, all was normal.

Next step for me is a GP appointment on 14th Nov for the blood tests and the hycosy shortly after (it's a bit pricey but I guess it's worth it)

I've heard about Create - they're meant to be good pez. So handy that it's only a 10min walk from work... What a bonus! So glad that everything went well and everything was normal.
Good luck for your GP app & hycosy - not looking forward to mine when I finally have to have it done!

Totally agree with the other ladies. You won't get better support anywhere else. This is a lovely bunch of people, really supportive and genuinely care about each other.

hoping - made me laugh about peeing on a stick. I recently had to pee into pots whilst heavily pregnant. I was terrible at it and mostly missed and got my hand. Oh the joys you guys have ahead of you

Karen here. :). I'm 37, single, trying to have a baby on my own. I started this journey a year ago. It's been up and down, got pregnant with my first iui with donor sperm. Sadly had a mmc at 10 weeks. Many months later and I'm currently starting a medicated iui cycle. I'm in Canada, which makes me an outsider of sorts. But I love being part of this group! The support I have received has been incredible.

Welcome pez. Good luck with the hycosy! My advice is to load up on painkillers before. Helped a lot when I had to do my second one.

I'm pickle 32 also single lady. I've got my AMH booked for 2nd Dec and all being well I will be seeing consultant in January and then have first iui cycle May time(unless amh results are poop and I'll be rethinking the plan (&panicking). I finally decided this is the way for me whilst sitting on a beach in menorca last September and started telling close friends and joined this lovely group. Since then I have been paying off credit card/finishing house improvements and now trying to save save save. I will be using the CARE clinic in Tunbridge wells which is about 50mins away so will be a bit tricky for work- so very jealous of 10mins away wow pez lucky lady

Welcome Pez - the Hycosy is definitely worth the cost, not only for investigation purposes but because it primes your tubes so apparently it ups your chances of conception in the first three cycles following the procedure.

Shoes - sorry I'm a bit behind. Thats amazing news. Congratulations! Have you had your 12 week scan yet?

Great idea to do Hycosy before you start kwick wishes she had done the same just take loads of paracetamol before hand.

Woke up this morning and thought it was Saturday. Massive disappointment.

Just turned 38, single, Manchester UK.
Unmedicated IUI and donor sperm.

Three unsuccessful IUI attempts, made trickier by awkwardly shaped anatomy, meaning it is very hard to insert the catheter. The second attempt 'didn't count' so I've technically had two goes. Just had two months off for timing issues, now gearing up for another try at the end of this month.

Yes I'll definitely take painkillers before the hycosy and I've also read that going on a full bladder helps at it makes it easier to insert the catheter.

karen - you're not an outsider!!! You're part of us whether you like it or not You could also say I am an outsider because I am under 30!!

It's nice that we've all had to reintroduce ourselves because there's so many of us that I've kind of forgotten where everyone is (how many previous attempts etc).. Is that bad?

I've put on 3lb from doing absolutely nothing different. Starting to stress now.

3lb isn't much Caution. My weight fluctuates by that amount according to time of the month. Don't let it dishearten you - keep up the effort and you will get there!

Hey caution. Make sure you drink lots of water. Like more than you even think you should. It helps to flush out toxins.

And thanks ladies. :). Still wish I lived in the U.K. Seems so much more fertility-friendly than Canada.
