Ttc number 2!

Hello! Anyone thinking of ttc number 2? I have a 6 month old baby and don't want a big age gap between babies. AF has been a bit erratic over the past few months but DH and I have decided to make next month the first month of ttc. Anyone else sort of in the same boat?

Good luck northern. Are you planning on using OPKs or temping?

I got another positive OPK this morning but it's now getting fainter so I think/hope ovulation is imminent! Hoping to see a temp rise soon...

Hope everyone else is well Smile

MrsY87 · 06/09/2016 07:58

Welcome northern!

I've had two days of flashing smilies so it looks like my cycle has fallen straight back to normal after the mc if I count the first day of bleeding as CD1 which means I should get a peak towards the end of the week, just need to hope DH gets over his man cold so we can dtd!

Any temp rise yet Purple?

PurpleHaze1 · 06/09/2016 08:10

I'm so glad your cycle is returning to normal quickly mrs. I'm sure I've read that some women are extra fertile after a mc. Everything crossed that's true for you & DH feels better in time to DTD!

Yes, I got a temp rise this morning! I'm hoping it stays up! Bit gutted that we didn't manage to DTD yesterday as DH was working late then DD was unwell and up lots. We DTD on Saturday & Sunday though so I'm hoping that'll be enough... Into the 2ww I go... Smile

MrsY87 · 06/09/2016 08:25

Fingers crossed Saturday and Sunday were enough purple! Hope your DD is feeling better today.

Hi all

Advice needed. We have been ttc our second for a few months now. I am currently using the expensive Clearblue digital ovulation sticks but I'm not having much luck with them. I used them every day this month from cd15 to cd22 and got a low reading everyday. Should I be concerned? Had anyone any experience of using these? They are too expensive for me to carry on using if they are not reliable.

PurpleHaze1 · 06/09/2016 15:14

Hi emma I never had much luck with the Clearable DH tests but I know other women find them really good. I had the opposite problem to you though and was getting peak readings really early in my cycle. How long are your cycles usually? Have you recently come off birth control?

DD is fine thanks Mrs She just has a cold so kept waking up because she was all snotty! Lovely!

iemma321q · 06/09/2016 15:32

Cycles are usually between 29 and 31 days. We used these when ttc our ds and I fell pregnant very quickly (probably had nothing to do with using Clearblue). Haven't been on birth control since having him as we are keen to have a small age gap.

Can anyone recommend a different product?

PurpleHaze1 · 06/09/2016 16:25

With the Clearblue Dual hormone tests you have to start testing while you're still at a low level. So with a cycle of 29 days you need to do the first test on CD9. The device then records that as base level and responds to any increase in the two hormones from then onwards. If you didn't start testing until CD15 then your 'base level' was probably already pretty high meaning it's not detecting an increase. That's how I think they work anyway and that would explain why you're repeatedly getting low readings.

If you've been DTD regularly you've hopefully caught the egg anyway! SmileI'd recommend the Internet cheapies. You can get loads for much less than the CB ones and they're less complicated!

wherethefuckisthefuckingtuna · 06/09/2016 17:58

Hope the TWW doesn't drag too much purple

Hope you're doing ok mrs

Nausea has kicked in for me. But only lasting for an hour or so in the morning. Was at home with DS this morning so was able to stick on mr tumble and lay on the sofa. In the office tomorrow though. Not sure what I'll do then!!

MrsY87 · 06/09/2016 22:00

Doing ok thanks tuna! My mum has DD tonight so we've been out for some dinner and a few glasses of vino...Was really lovely to have some us time Smile Wine

Hope you can hide your nausea at work tomorrow!

Welcome Emma! I'm using the CB dual Hormone tests but have started using them around cd7 so I get the low reading to start with which then picks up any increases....how old is your DS?

iemma321q · 06/09/2016 22:20

Thanks purplehaze1 and mrsy87 - will definitely start testing earlier in the cycle next month. It doesn't give this useful tip in the instructions!

My little boy is 11 months old now.

SairdyJane25 · 07/09/2016 12:38

I've just POAS, would be 4 dpo max! What is wrong with me?!!

Sonnet18 · 07/09/2016 19:27

Hi emma I use the one step ovulation sticks- about £3 for a pack of 20 from Amazon. They work fine.
With clearblue I never ovulated...not even the month I conceived my daughter Hmm so I wouldn't waste my money on them.

PurpleHaze1 · 08/09/2016 07:46

Fertility friend has confirmed ovulation on CD13 so I'm 3dpo now. I might test at 10dpo but will try to hold off to next weekend. Was it 10dpo you got your BFP sonnet?

How are you doing mrs?

Hope the pregnancy sickness isn't too grim for the preggos Smile

Sonnet18 · 08/09/2016 08:09

Yes, purple I got bfp on 10dpo with a one-step internet (super faint, could barely see it) so re-tested with a FRER and got a good line. I was totally shocked as I didn't get bfp until AF was late with both my daughter and my mc.

wherethefuckisthefuckingtuna · 08/09/2016 17:52

Maybe it's twins sonnet!!

Sonnet18 · 08/09/2016 18:28

Don't even joke!! If it wasn't for the positive opk I would be convinced i had just ovulated earlier!

OP posts:
MrsY87 · 09/09/2016 06:46

I'm doing ok thanks purple, still waiting for a positive OPK so think ov may be slightly delayed this cycle, currently on CD14 but hopefully will be joining you in the tww soon, hope it isn't dragging too much for you!
Had my second acupuncture session this week, it's so relaxing and hopefully it will help with getting my cycles a bit longer as they were so short before my mc.

How is everyone else doing?

PurpleHaze1 · 09/09/2016 07:29

Fingers crossed you get a positive OPK soon mrs. Glad you're finding the acupuncture relaxing - can only be a good thing! Smile

I'm fine, nothing to report really. Only 4dpo...

wherethefuckisthefuckingtuna · 11/09/2016 19:16

Just checking in. How's everyone doing?

Sore boobs and bloated. Nothing other than that. Either I've managed to get away with very little nausea, or it's going to hit me any day now.

Had one bad morning this week and that's it...

PurpleHaze1 · 11/09/2016 20:30

How many weeks are you now tuna? Hard to remember but I think I was 6 weeks, possibly even 7, with DD before sickness started. Maybe you'll be lucky though & not get much!

Nothing to report here. 6dpo & I'm choked with a cold! I have a busy week ahead so hoping it'll take my mind off things. I won't be testing before Thursday at the earliest Smile

wherethefuckisthefuckingtuna · 11/09/2016 21:13

Oh no purple! Sorry to hear you have a cold :(

I'm 7 weeks now. I think this is probably the calm before the storm and I'll probably be rough as anything by the end of the week!

loztredders · 11/09/2016 21:57

I'm 7 weeks tomorrow and have had nausea for a week and a half but today was the first morning I've actually thrown up. .. which is not great as I'm on holiday at the moment Hmm

Not really any other symptoms apart from nausea. Boobs maybe a tiny bit sore (if I poke them hard enough Blush).

Sorry to hear about your cold purple :-(

Sonnet18 · 12/09/2016 06:11

Oh no loz pop you! I had horrendous nausea and some vile vomiting that totally caught me off guard (one of which was on holiday too at the breakfast buffet Blush)

Hope your cold clears soon purple and you have a nice bfp for the weekend to cheer you up!

I'm just over 5 weeks and have midwife appointment today to organise an early scan! Excited!

OP posts:
MrsY87 · 12/09/2016 08:56

Oh no Loz! Hopefully you are still managing to enjoy your holiday despite the sickness!

Glad your feeling well tuna and hope your midwife is happy to arrange an early scan for your sonnet

Got a peak ov test this morning so need to try to dtd tonight and tomorrow! Only managed once over the weekend but hopefully that will be enough! Smile will be joining you in the tww soon enough purple...Fingers crossed for a BFP for you this week!
