Ttc number 2!

Hello! Anyone thinking of ttc number 2? I have a 6 month old baby and don't want a big age gap between babies. AF has been a bit erratic over the past few months but DH and I have decided to make next month the first month of ttc. Anyone else sort of in the same boat?

I had an early (private) scan with DS. Had it at 8 weeks. I was so convinced there was nothing in there and then I found a private ultrasound place 5 mins from my office. So me and DH snuck off there one lunch time.

Not sure whether I will again. The private sonographer has moved and is now about 20 mins from office.

She does weekend and evening appointments though.

But it's all pricey isn't it?!

MmmMalbec · 19/08/2016 11:09

Yeah it is. How much was yours? We didn't have one because I have long cycles my 12 week scan was at 11 weeks so DH said we couldn't justify it. I think it would have been really good for me though!

wherethefuckisthefuckingtuna · 19/08/2016 11:23

I think it was £70.

She was so lovely though and they were so cold and unfeeling at my NHS scan that I booked to see the private lady again at 17 weeks to find out the sex of the baby as I would have rather heard it from her.

It was amazing. She had two bags ready. One with a little pair of blue shoes in and one with pink. After she'd done the scan she handed me and DH one of the bags and we pulled out a blue pair of shoes.

A bit twee for some people probably. But I loved it :)

MmmMalbec · 19/08/2016 11:31

Aw that's so sweet. I think that's a lovely idea Smile Did you just have the two scans?

My 11 week one was lovely and I had to go back at 13 weeks for the nuchal measurements and it was the same woman. But my 20 week one was a bloke and a trainee with him so it was mega clinic and not personal at all. Then I had a private 4d one at 28 weeks. It was lovely but DS was asleep all the way through so we saw him but didn't see him move!!!

loztredders · 19/08/2016 11:38

I had a private one at 8 weeks last time too! Then we had a 4d scan about 30 weeks. So cool.

I might see if I can get one on the nhs now seeing as I've had 2 losses but otherwise I'm not sure we will pay out again as could use the money for baby clothes or something if it all works out!

wherethefuckisthefuckingtuna · 19/08/2016 11:44

Yes - just the two. Didn't fancy a 3D one.

I had 3 extra NHS scans after my 20 wk scan as my care was consultant led. So I was lucky enough to get quite a few opportunities to see him :)

Ooh - I'm getting all misty-eyed now.

Must be the decaf coffee. Or something

wherethefuckisthefuckingtuna · 19/08/2016 11:46

If anyone's interested, the Kenco Millicano is a nice decaf (in the silver tin).

Especially when you use chocolate milk instead of regular

Sonnet18 · 19/08/2016 12:01

I had nhs scan at 8 weeks due to my insistence, private scan (£30) at 10 weeks, 12 week scan nhs, private gender scan at 18, nhs 20 week scan, private 3D at 28 weeks but baby wouldn't turn so they gave me a freebie the following week!!! I was pretty neurotic (was? Am...)

Bought myself some proper FRERs. Finally a line that's not a squinter :)

wherethefuckisthefuckingtuna · 19/08/2016 12:42

Sonnet - I was exactly the same. Still am

PurpleHaze1 · 19/08/2016 12:54

malbec I'm counting my LP as short because I ovulated around CD19/20 and (so far) have always had 28 day cycles. This is the first month that I've properly used OPKs so no idea if an 8/9 day LP is the norm for me or not. I wish I knew what my cycle was like when I conceived DD but obviously I wasn't really paying attention like I am now...and we agreed we weren't going to talk about that anyway! Blush

Last time I had the NHS 12 week scan then a scan to find out the sex at around 17 weeks, then the NHS scan at 20 weeks. If/when we conceive DC2, I think I might suggest we get a private early scan as this time is so different to last time and I know I'll be a worrier too.

MmmMalbec · 19/08/2016 13:30

Picture Tuna?!

Ah sorry Purple I was thinking you might have ovulated at a different time this month. Hope it's your month anyway!

wherethefuckisthefuckingtuna · 19/08/2016 13:48

Malbec - I added a picture - but maybe it's not showing?

loztredders · 19/08/2016 13:57

Woo hoo Tuna.

Can't see pic buy that's great news!!

I retested today too with the same cheapy tests and only managed to hold my pee for 30mins cuz I can't seem to stop peeing this morning but here's my result....

Not so much of a squinter now either :-)

No it's not showing Tuna?!

Woohoo good line there loz! When are you due?

MrsY87 · 19/08/2016 14:54

Hi ladies you have been chatty this morning!

Good to see your lines are getting clearer Loz and Tuna!

I couldn't resist retesting this morning too, used a digi and got 2-3 weeks which makes sense with when I got a peak OPK. Although still feeling on edge at every little twinge and am still having a little spotting every now and then, happen to have a gp appointment on wed anyway so think I'll mention it to her then.

Been thinking about a private early scan too, we had one with DD and think will most probably again as I will drive myself mad waiting another 7 weeks for the NHS one!

Purple and Malbec and any others in the tww hope you have some nice things planned for the weekend to help the tww pass quickly!

Welcome ruby! Fingers crossed your cycle settles and you got a BFP soon!

loztredders · 19/08/2016 15:13

Erm I think 1st may Malbec.

That's great news MRS because you were 1-2 weeks weren't you when you tested first time so obviously the hormones are rising

loztredders · 19/08/2016 15:46

Ooh can see the pic now tuna! Nice clear line!

How many dpo are you now?

MmmMalbec · 19/08/2016 15:50

Oh I can see the test now too Tuna! Very clear 😄

Excellent news about the 2-3 Mrs! The spotting sounds stressful but hopefully nothing to worry about. Sounds like a good idea to mention it to your GP though for reassurance.

DH is off work all next week so hopefully it'll keep me distracted! And I've got a busy weekend so hopefully it'll be fine!

What do you all do about drinking in the TWW?! I will still have a glass of wine but not get pissed but I feel like I've had too many glasses of wine this week with it being my birthday Hmm

MrsY87 · 19/08/2016 15:50

Yes got 1-2 weeks yesterday but didn't test with FMU, tested with FMU today and got the 2-3 weeks, think I'll try and leave it a couple of days now!

loztredders · 19/08/2016 16:00

I have a drink or two sometimes during tww until I get a positive test.

Don't think I've had any drinks this time but only because the situation hasn't arose.

loztredders · 19/08/2016 16:01

The placenta doesn't form until something like 6 weeks so there'd be no alcohol transference to the baby before then apparantly

MmmMalbec · 19/08/2016 16:04

Yeah that's what I think. I had a small glass of red every night when DS was implanting because I was on holiday. Then I started spotting so thought I was out and had a few glasses each night of the weekend and he's fine!!

MrsY87 · 19/08/2016 16:14

I hope that's true about alcohol not mattering too much in the first few weeks, I may have over indulged slightly last weekend thinking I hadnt even ovulated yet! Hmm

MmmMalbec · 19/08/2016 16:20

Haha whoops! You'll be absolutely fine so early I'm sure!
