Hi all,

Just wanted to start a thread for all of us over 35 just starting out.

I am: 36 (37 in Nov)
Cycle #1 CD 22

I've been 'prepping' my body for this for a year, lost weight, increased my fitness levels and been taking vitamins etc so I feel like I've been mentally preparing for this for AGES, as a result I'm finding the waiting game torturous! I've been tracking my cycles, 27 days average, and using OPK's - just started that this month. We dtd the day before getting a smiley face and then twice on the day we got one.

Are there others who feel impatient/worried like me because you feel time is not on our sides? So bloody stressful!

Oooooooo look at those lovely BFPs GrinGrin You're right the cheapie us much much fainter - I've only got FRERs and Clearblue stocked up.

Lol at the Amazon shopping - buy the books! I've been secretly ordering the books on my kindle, reading them, and saving the ones where I'll buy the actual book for when I need them. Not the acts of an obsessive crazy woman at all...BlushConfused

DH said I'm much more chilled this time around - we both don't think this is the month and he's going for third time lucky!

Pyjamas81 · 29/08/2016 12:45

How is everyone's weekend? And has the news sunk in yet iCoCo?

AF due on Weds according to FF, but am holding out until Friday when I'm working from home if AF doesn't show. Totally have no expectations, I've misbehaved massively on the booze front during this TWW, and I don't have even one symptom. Not even AF symptoms. I'm usually a fire breathing dragon in the run up to AF, yet I'm in quite a positive mood! Could be the three day weekend...

iCoCo · 29/08/2016 17:47

pyjamas I'm feeling very hopeful for you, I didn't feel very much really, my cheeks were on fire and stabby boob pain, but that was it, I felt more pregnant the month before Confused I have everything crossed. X

A pregnancy book arrived from Amazon yesterday, i can't bring myself to read past 0-4 weeks, I'm a very Squamish person and the less I know, the better. There are a lot of foods I now cannot eat and DH has banned Yorkshire tea bags, he went and bought decaf ones, I'm not impressed but coping.

Enjoy the rest of the bank holiday. Xx

Pyjamas81 · 29/08/2016 18:48

Thanks iCoCo! Seriously, I will be so so surprised if I get a BFP!

Good work on the Amazon book - know what you mean about squeamish! I'm the same. I'm reading about c-section vs natural birth - I've always known c-section is the way to go for me, so am building up my knowledge of both as it'll be a fight to get one, but the descriptions of things are brutal Shock

Shame about your tea! Hopefully the decaf ones are ok Smile

iCoCo · 29/08/2016 19:42

You are braver than me, I genuinely don't want to know. I'm normally a information junkie, but at the moment, the less I know the better.

I'll check in later and hopefully you will have your BFP Smile

petiteange28 · 30/08/2016 13:46

Congrats icoco on the BFP. I haven't bought anything yet and don't intend to until I get to the 12 week stage, which seems like a million miles away. I'm literally wishing away the weeks at the moment....and lying outrageously to friends and family as to why I can't drink, or go surfing, or eat raw steak suddenly (when it's my favourite).

Pyjamas - good luck for the test this week

mare1976 · 30/08/2016 14:19

Thank you for the welcome iCoCo.
I am dpo3 now, and hopeful.
I started taking Agnus Castus last month but went on a break because of my ovulation. I haven't heard of Cog10 before but will read into it a bit.
I am a bit calmer now because we did quite well last week considering I am 40 and my partner is 38. We were both nervous about it but I think we are past that which I suppose helps a lot. Smile

iCoCo · 30/08/2016 15:01

Fingers crossed mare for you this month. Coq10 I believe helped my eggs, but this TTC lark is so unknown. I hope this thread is as lucky for you as it was for me. I took Angus castus for 2 months, I actually only did two days last month, it's very trial and error.

petiteange today was my first day in work and I felt as though I had a huge secret. I broke down on my mum last week. I now know it was hormonal but she is very worried and I'm just debating whether to tell her or not, keeping it secret is so hard.

No raw steak Confused god I'd best keep that to myself DH has already hidden my teabags. Take care of yourself and bean.

Hello everyone else, hope you are all well and AF is staying away X

Pyjamas81 · 30/08/2016 18:34

Big temp dip for me this morning and mood was pretty spiky so expecting AF any second. Ah well - onwards and upwards to cycle three! Third time lucky...

iCoCo · 30/08/2016 18:52

Oh no, my temp did drop though so I thought I was out too, fingers crossed for you. X

Pyjamas81 · 30/08/2016 18:56

Oh that's interesting! We'll see - I've ordered some opks anyway just in case. It's ok - I was super relaxed about it this month, glad I was now!

Blueberry1 · 31/08/2016 13:13

Apologies for being awol ladies; the house move sucked up all my time, but now done & new house is great.

Fab news Icoco - stay calm & pretend you're on some mad health kick if anyone asks about changed habits (no more Yorkshire tea etc..)

@mare - Welcome! I just turned 41 & am TTC for 6 months. I got checked out at fertility clinic & all is well, but obviously age is a factor. DP (older than me) hasn't been to clinic yet & isn't keen.

Apart from that nothing much to report. My fertile time was week we moved home (ha!), so only managed DTD once although that was 24 hours after peak fertility non flashing smiley face. Now on 2ww but don't have great hopes Sad

mare1976 · 01/09/2016 11:32

Thank you, Blueberry. I am hoping we don't have to get checked out. I am not that worried about myself (yet), but my partner had the measles as a kid so who knows if that could have done some damage.

I do need some advice from everybody though. As I said, we just started trying and this is only my second cycle of watching out for signs. I had a bad last cycle with feeling dizzy and just plain sick for basically 3 weeks in a row. Got my period 4 days late and with all kinds of (tmi) black blood. Definitely not normal as my periods are usually quite on time.

This month all was fine. I have been using FF and my O was exactly when predicted.
However, I am now DPO5 and since DPO4 I am struggling with pulling pains in my right ovaries, sometimes also with back pain. I felt slightly sick yesterday, but not really today.

Did anyone of you have something like this before?
I am considering getting a GP appointment, but don't want to do that if it could be perfectly normal.

iCoCo · 01/09/2016 18:05

Wohoo on the house move blueberry It's worth it when you finally get in a new house. Smile hope it's your month and it only takes once.

mare I've had every pregnancy symptom going, when I've not been pregnant!

If you are in pain, definitely go to the docs. Recording symptoms on an app does make it easier to realise what's normal for you. In my first month TTC, I was convinced I could smell everything, well of course I could, I was driving and it was Christmas and everyone around me was drinking. So of course I could smell that lovely glass of prosecco I couldn't have. Grin

I also had black/brown light periods when I came off the pill in Dec and you have just made me remember that my last period was red and a little bit more than normal. I am seeing an acupuncturist for other things and she knew we were TTC so I assumed she had done something as I mentioned it and she nodded.

Everything could be normal for you, or your body could just be adjusting, but do whatever you need to so you are reassured you are ok.

iCoCo · 01/09/2016 18:07

Sorry for the double post, it told me there was a problem Blush

Pyjamas81 · 01/09/2016 21:31

As suspected, I'm out for this month! But, onwards and upwards - onto to cycle 3!

iCoCo · 02/09/2016 06:39

Aw pyjamas I'm sorry. AF is a bitch. Drink lots this weekend and look after yourself

petiteange28 · 02/09/2016 10:35

Hi all,

Just checking in!

Sorry to hear you're out pyjamas

Congrats on the new house blueberry.

Mare1976 definitely get checked out to be on the safe side. In May I bled for 16 days in a row. I had absolutely no idea what was going on and thought it was the end of everything! Turned out my body was just having a freak out as I was super stressed about everything. Started having acupuncture and chilling out more....massages, knitting - just things that would de-stress me.....

Fingers crossed for you all. Take care and have a nice glass of vino for me! Wink x

miraflores81 · 02/09/2016 10:55

Can I join this thread?
I'm 35, OH is 32 and we've been ttc for almost a year. OH has started fertility tests and I'm due to give my 21 day progesterone next week.
Cd 15 and Eva says I will ovulate today but in my experience its always a couple of days early compared to my opk. OH had to abstain for 48 hrs prior to giving his sample meaning we haven't been able to dtd, but hoping I still have a chance this month! Its a bit weird because I work in the neighbouring dept to the one carrying out the SA so he had to try and get in and out of the building without any of my colleagues seeing him!

mare1976 · 05/09/2016 11:21

Thanks all. I was in pain for another couple of days, but it calmed down now. I still feel sick constantly though.

Strange thing is, I had a small dip on my BBT on DPO2, and then a massive dip under the coverline on DPO4. On DPO6 I had such a tiny amount of pink CF I almost thought I imagined it. Since DP5 my temperature is staying up.

I don't know...Could mean something, could mean nothing. I haven't even told my partner because I didn't want both of us to be nervous.

So if I do get my period I'll see the GP because then I don't know why I had such a pain in my ovaries for days.

Welcome, miraflores!

miraflores81 · 05/09/2016 19:38

Hi mare!
Sorry if this is tmi but have people noticed bleeding after sex since trying to conceive? I don't remember getting it when we used condoms, and the other day it bled through my trousers! Suspect will have to go to Drs, but there wasn't any pain at all, either during or after...I'm hoping this is normal.
Could it be if OH was a bit rough or just cos we are doing it more often because ttc? I don't get it everytime, but about half the time, maybe less...
What do other people think?
Frankly feel a bit embarrassed going to the Drs about this!

elisev · 05/09/2016 23:53

Well, after opening this thread and only being in our second month TTC, this is what I got this morning whilst we're in Florence...
