Hi all,

Just wanted to start a thread for all of us over 35 just starting out.

I am: 36 (37 in Nov)
Cycle #1 CD 22

I've been 'prepping' my body for this for a year, lost weight, increased my fitness levels and been taking vitamins etc so I feel like I've been mentally preparing for this for AGES, as a result I'm finding the waiting game torturous! I've been tracking my cycles, 27 days average, and using OPK's - just started that this month. We dtd the day before getting a smiley face and then twice on the day we got one.

Are there others who feel impatient/worried like me because you feel time is not on our sides? So bloody stressful!

Quietly on CD6 over here - started dtd (and will every other day) and opks yesterday as I seem to ov really early. Started taking evening primrose oil as well - all guns blazing this month!!

Miraflores, I think little drops of blood can be quite normal, but not bleeding through. However, the hubbie once managed to accidentally scratch me with his nail so badly I was just gushing blood for a couple of minutes. No pain, but he was mortified.

Fab news Elise. What a nice holiday bonus!

No news from me. Am in dreaded two week wait phase but don't hold out much hope.

I also looked up the data I got back from the fertility check in June and it means I have low fertility (age related; no problems were found). For the geeks my AMH level was 6.5 (normal fertility would be over 15), and AFC 8 ("good" count would be 15-20). Doesn't mean it's impossible to conceive naturally, but difficult. This makes me quite sad. Talked to DP and we agreed that we probably need to go back to the fertility clinic again.

Cycle 5 (yet to find out if BFP or BFN)

In November 2014 got polyps removed and the same time discovered my left tube is closed/blocked which was a bit of a shock. Had some checks done in March 2015 and not sure how and why but thought the tube was open. I'm not from here and all of the above was done in IVF Riga clinic.
Anyway, we've started TTC in April but no BFP yet. I told the same clinic I'd try IUI after 6 cycles,so they took DH's sperm and stored in the freezer and gave me an equivalent of Clomid. As I always knew I'd get it done over there, I'd then start taking the drug on CD5 here and then fly over. But here's my question, do you think I should try Clomid and natural intercourse or straight to IUI with Clomid? I read all morning today and can't work it out what to do! I'll still take the drug on cd5 as they told me and then fly to check my tubes again and at the same time they can do ultrasound on cd 10-11 to see how I respond to the drug. But then what? Shall fly home for natural dtd or stay for IUI?! I can do this trip while still unemployed. And can afford being off of work for a while. And it's so much cheaper in Riga! Would like to hear your thoughts as breaking my brains here and can't figure it out by myself! And is anyone have any experience with Clomid or similar? Big sigh

Hi Russkispy. I can't really say anything in response. I haven't looked into IUI.

No real news from me even though I believe AF is coming. It's supposed to come Friday, but I have been having AF cramps yesterday and some weird pain on the left side. My BBT went from 36.69 yesterday to 36.49 this morning, down to my coverline. No cramps today and no AF yet, but I have given up on this month already. I know it could be a implantation dip, but I don't think so.
Hoping for next month now.

I woke up with a sharp pain in my abdomen, cramps? It woke me up around 7am, it lasted 10-15 minutes. I don't even know what that was all about. I don't even know what dpo I'm on as I stopped tracking these things. I've been having acupuncture for 4 months now and she told me to stop monitoring things. Don't even know when AF is supposed to be here. Hopefully won't at all! One can only hope!

No bleeding after last dtd, so maybe I'm ok...
According to opk ovulated today so had to change day 21 appt to next mon (day 21 is tomorrow) hope it turns out ok, I wasn't expecting ovulation this late, have usually stopped opk testing by this point which makes me wonder have we failed to conceive partly because I was missing fertile week because it wasn't where I thought it was?
Sorry russkispy I can't help you either as I'm not sure how IUI works, but guessing IUI + clomid gives you a better chance then natural + clomid??

So AF is now 1 day late and instead for my temperature dropping it went way up yesterday. Dropped a bit this morning though but not as low as I would expect. I keep feeling sick, too. If it stays up tomorrow I'll do a test.
I am reasonably optimistic but I can't really imagine that it would happen after just under two months TTC.

think I'm CD30 and 5 days of brown spotting which never happened before! Usually is 2 days prior AF. So not sure what's happening here and why! It's not even on panties, but it's kind of sitting inside. Sorry TMI! Feeling extremely tired and there's a sharp pain in my back, on the right. But not muscles, I believe. I have no idea. No any other symptoms.
I'm also scheduled to fly to Riga to the clinic. To double check my Fallopian tubes and potentially have an IUI. But where's AF!?? Clomid is here but can't start till the bastard AF turns up. But is she!? As I said AF usually and regularly turns up 2 days after brown spotting/discharge. Has anyone else experienced this?
Also, made an appointment with a reflexologist (specialising in fertility) on Thursday. See what she can do for us. Has anybody else tried reflexology?

AF came 2 days late in the end. I my circle went from 28 to 30 to 32 days in just three months, plus the constant pain in my Ovaries. I am seeing a GP about it on Thursday.

I have started taking Maca root powder to see if that helps with it. Making the hubbie taking it, too. Does anyone here taken it yet?

Russkispy I do have brown spotting, too, but never for 5 days. I think it might make sense to see a GP?

me and DH have been taken Maca root capsules for a few months now but not during AF. Can't remember where I read but it said to take it outside of your AF window. Do I really need to see GP regarding this? do you think there's a real concern? My cycles have changed too, from 27 to 29, to 31 and 34 sometimes! my acupuncturist says that's no problem when cycles are long, but would be concerned if there shorter

I can't find anything on not taking Maca during AF. I read about not taking it during Ovulation though.

Hmmm interesting. I might switch over to a daily intake.
I'll wait till the end of this week and hopefully AF arrives then so I can carry on with my IUI plan. But really don't AF showing up!

I'm somewhere between 15-18dpo. No af and only bfns. None of my usual pre-af spotting or bad cramps but no major pregnancy symptoms either. I have no idea what's going on but if it's my body giving me the weirdest cycle I won't be impressed after 7 cycles ttc.

I think AF might turn up tomorrow as brown spotting/discharge is turning runny. Sorry TMI. Why can't it be just so bloody straight forward!

Got AF this morning. Not sure what I was spotting for 5 days. Hmmmm. Anyway it's here now. I'm ready for Clomid+trigger and IUI for my next cycle. So I'm off to Riga next Wednesday for check ups, scans, ultrasounds etc to. Will keep you posted from there.

7dpo (according to opk) I decided to sneakily poas after reading others have had bfp that early, but bfn, then also found some preperiod brown spotting
So unfair!
How do some people get pregnant by accident!?
But watching inspirational people compete in Paralympics, puts me to shame, need to stop feeling sorry for myself!

That could be implantation spotting, which is usually 8-9dpo. Hope that's the case!

Af arrived. Am gutted. Have doc appt on Tuesday so I'm going to start getting myself and DP checked out after 7 unsuccessful cycles. Has anyone gone through this? What does it involve? Is it easy to do on the NHS?

I'm 35 and been trying for nearly a year, we went to GP for tests and have had day 21 progesterone and OH has had SA, hopefully get the results next week
Not sure what to do after that, think I might go private for further tests if I don't get seen quickly at NHS. I've read somewhere on a thread on MN that it costs £600 for private tests but not sure on details...
Hope you get some good help at the docs

Thanks for your reply, Mira. I've just turned 35 and DP is 47 so I'm keen to get us checked out. Did it take long to get the tests scheduled? Keeping my fx for good results for you.
Definitely lots of alcohol and chocolate for me this weekend!
