There wasn't any more room for moaning with all those grinny smilies's eyes following me around the room.

Suspected (my own self-diagnosis) perimenopause, anyone?

Fingerscrossed2007 · 12/02/2007 22:26

late night. Are you TTC number 1?

LatenightOwl · 12/02/2007 22:38

Hi Fingerscrossed - yes...extremely slow developer - sorry influence of virtual wine is slowly taking its effect. TTC for past 8 yrs, but only thought - realised we may have a problem 4 yrs ago

Fingerscrossed2007 · 12/02/2007 22:50

ouch!! That must be hard.

You know I was thinking about starting a couple of new threads such as:

Things you wish someone mentioned years ago about ttc/adoption (thinking about the 40 year rule on adoption)

or

Please dont just say "have more sex" and other insensitivities.

Think I will have a cosmopolitan next. Might help this bug I have got. lol

plummymummy · 12/02/2007 23:15

Haha someone just said on another thread that she thought it was very unfair that PMS symptoms are the same as early pregnancy ones and that she thought it would be better if our belly buttons turned green instead!

Fingerscrossed2007 · 12/02/2007 23:21

That would be cool although I think i would like a kind of lilac colour

LatenightOwl · 12/02/2007 23:33

I would prefer orange or yellow so that it doesnt get lost with the "fluff"...

LatenightOwl · 12/02/2007 23:38

fingerscrossed - I suggest you get it while you can (IYKWIM) cos you never know! I was moaning cos he wanted it when I didnt and then I wanted to BD and he didnt and now we need to and he cant ---- can you hear the virtual SCREAM - why can't it be so simple?

Do you like your martini - shaken or stirred?

LatenightOwl · 12/02/2007 23:40

PS - what about a thread - True or False???
or maybe Fantesy or Fact???

Fingerscrossed2007 · 12/02/2007 23:41

stirred please. with an olive if there are any going?

Thhts what i mean though about the "oh just have more sex" brigade. I just want to shout IF ONLY IT WAs THAT EASY made a bit too much noise for this time of night.

LatenightOwl · 12/02/2007 23:45

mmm - better quieten down a bit , may wake up the other threads! Here, have a stuffed olive...
Gotta go to bed - and hopefully tomorrow will be a better day

LNO slips out of the hut with a nightcap...

Catbabymummy · 13/02/2007 07:13

Morning campers.
Yes I did remove the drip eventually, and had a relaxed night in the bath.
Still stuffed full of cold, and now I've lost my voice. Feck!!!

duchesse · 13/02/2007 07:59

Luckily, unless you develop Sore Thumb Syndrome like I had, you can still make your voice heard in here, CatBabymummy.

Can't remember who is really worried about us upping sticks in the night and not leaving a forwarding address, but worry not, we shall leave a mail redirection...

Well, I am officially into that mythical 5th week of my cycle, the TSTW* phase. The one where you know it's going to go tits up, but you just don't know when.

OP posts:
Impatience · 13/02/2007 09:43

LOL Duchesse (yes, actual laughing...) at TSTW!

I feel mad. I have looked up IVF and remembered why I didn't want to go down that route. The money is shocking (thanks for tip re egg donation: I would happily share any harvest. Hey, any rich FTCers out there want my eggs in return for covering my own IVF costs? Yikes, you know I'm only half joking... I would definately do that.) And it's hard to get a good reflection of what the process involves. I'm a bit hungup on needle being passed through vagina wall to harvest from ovary, but dp told me to get over that if what I'm trying to achieve is birth!

MrsMcJnr · 13/02/2007 16:36

Hey Impatience, just popping in to check up on you - not quite sure how I found you, you ok?

duchesse · 13/02/2007 17:52

Impatience, I am so sorry you are feeling this low. I'm sorry if I haven't been paying attention, but have you had your levels of hormones and everything etc checked? Do you chart temperatures to spot ovulation? If not yet, this may be a better bet for spotting ovulation than relying on cervical mucus, which I believe (and has been my recent experience) can be hard to spot in some women.

Have you had that day 21 progesterone check recently (not that day 21 would help in a mega-long cycle, but at least the quacks would know that something was amiss- it can't "normal" to have really irregular cycles of the type you've been having)?

Impatience · 13/02/2007 18:07

Hi Duchesse and MrsMc. I just suddenly slipped from holding it all together to, well, not. About a year ago I went to the GP and she arranged the 21 day tests, and thyroid etc. She was great. Tests all seemed OK. I had been charting temp, cm, cervix position, LH surge, plus any symptoms (of ov). It all seemed to paint a pretty positive picture. But then the LH sticks stopped working for me. This may have coincided with getting the cheap ones, but I got cross after a few months and just stopped using them. Still had temp rise, cm etc on the same days, so assumed everything was still ok. Haven't charted temp for a couple of months now in an effort to salvage my sanity. It hasn't worked, so I may dust that thermometer off, get some expensive sticks and pay careful attention for a while.

I had a freaky long cycle last month, but I think that was stress-related because I am fairly reliably about 28 days, with ovulation pain around 12. I was always 16 days from LH surge to period, so it still all tallies. I've made another appointment with the GP to get the hormone tests redone, and to discuss getting me referred for help. She said last year that the NHS wouldn't do anything for me, but at least I can get on a private waiting list while I figure out what on earth I want to do.

I must say I've had a couple of pretty self-indulgent day going on and on about myself on MN! Everyone's so lovely. It really helps.

How are you feeling MrsMc? I haven't been able to stomach opening any other TTC page for ages, and certainly don't go near the pregnancy ones, but am pleased for you and hope you're well. It's nice you sought me out to ask after me. The answer is, I aint doing too well at the moment

greedyforbabies · 13/02/2007 18:16

perve.....i still think of you too! is that too soppy for in here? sorry........... i will go again! i hope you manage to make it back to some of the other more cheery threads soon, although i am not sure what duchese would do without you!

Impatience · 13/02/2007 18:27

And Greedy too! Really, I'm quite touched! Are you OK, Greedy - everything going well? Don't give us too much happy detail in here. A brief 'Yes, things are good' will be tolerated, but don't overdo it! x

greedyforbabies · 13/02/2007 18:39

actually perve, i was almost posting in here earlier. i am a bit pissed off this evening (understatement!) cos i have had more bleeding and cramping and i dont really know whats happening. i am hoping i am just being over dramatic and its nothing to worry about, but i guess all i can do is wait and see. i could be in here a lot more soon....hopefully not!

sideways · 13/02/2007 19:17

Impatience - don't worry about being self-indulgent, that's what the Hut is for, a bloody good moan.

Greedy - fingers crossed for ytou, hope you never have to come back in here (meant in a nice way).

Impatience · 13/02/2007 19:36

Thanks Sideways. And I agree: Greedy, I hope we never see you in here again I hope it's all OK.

Catbabymummy · 13/02/2007 20:07

I want to make babies and my dh is in Stevenage!!!!
Agghhhh!!
How's everyone else tonight?

jhyesmum · 13/02/2007 20:55

good evening Girls.

Fancied a bit of a moan - i hope you don't mind!

As i said previously i'm mega late and have had numerous negative tests. I had to take a pee sample in this morning to be sent to the hospital. The fact is that I know it's going to be neg from there too.

However, the most fustrating this is that it's hard enough trying for another baby with no success, but for my cycles and that to f*ck up too is just too much.

Rant over

duchesse · 13/02/2007 21:34

Impatience- think if you're having trouble ovulating you start to see more positive LH surge days than when everything's fine, as your body tries to kick-start your ovaries into some kind of action. It could be that you are missing your surge if the OPKs aren't ever seeming to throw up a positive, and should try testing more frequently during the days when you expect to be ovulating- maybe three times in the same day.

OP posts:
rahrah1 · 13/02/2007 23:02

I second what Dutchesse Says'' I have been using OPK's as well and not had a positive yet. But I seem to have ovulated as my temps have increased but the OPK have failed to pick up a positive surge. OPK are always a bit hit and miss with some people. They don't always work! I must have an LH surge as I ovulate and had a pregnancy. I got really down recently about the OPK, but now realise that it could be the tests. Someone else warned me about OPK tests and said they were not reliable and can cause upset... I wish I had listened now!
