There wasn't any more room for moaning with all those grinny smilies's eyes following me around the room.

Suspected (my own self-diagnosis) perimenopause, anyone?

I quite fancied an adventure, but Wolverhampton... can we not find somewhere a bit more exciting for this dreary Monday morning.

Anyway, how's his for fckg hilarious. Due yesterday/today, usually get spotting a couple of days before. Yesterday afternoon, still nothing, piles of tests calling my name so I gave in. I never do this normally. Anyway, wee in cup, stick in and out, wipe while waiting for stick result and guess what... yep, spotting. How effing stupid am I? Is my body taking the piss or what? It clearly though, yes dear you just go ahead and test and at the very moment you do, we'll start your period.

Twenty minutes later, we went to some family friends and their 1 year old grand-daughter was there, so I had to watch dd playing with her like an angel, helping her, being generally gorgeous and calling her sweet little names and it broke my heart. I was choking back the tears and spent the rest of the day crying.

Not sure how long I can keep on dragging myself back up from this. It's like a monthly round of torture. The age gap is getting bigger and bigger and my time is running out by the month.

So PLEASE can we find somewhere better than Wolverhampton???

What about that fertility statue in Blackpool?

beansprout · 05/02/2007 10:07

I think you'll find a fertility statue in the boot of the car

Coast is good for me, just maybe not Blackpool though. Went there once. Nuff said. What about somewhere a bit more rugged and windswept? I could do my French Lietenant's Woman routine, all wistful like. Pembrokeshire coast?

I know exactly what you mean about the monthly routine and I often feel I want to get off too. And yes, I have also done the pee-in-a-cup-come-on-the-moment-I-have routine. A ftc classic.

sideways · 05/02/2007 10:36

Yes, rugged and windswept would do nicely.

plummymummy · 05/02/2007 11:38

For authenticity you need to go to Lyme Regis as that's where The French Lieutenant's Woman was set though of course you can recreate it wherever you like. I thought Peckham Market might be quite nice, though might be mistaken for a mad lady as opposed to a sad one. Sideways, how old is your dd? Ds is 3 in June. I was hoping for a 3 year gap

Catbabymummy · 05/02/2007 12:00

Bill Nighy?? And I thought I was weird for fancing Alan Rickman. Can I have a go with Colin as well?
Thanks for the tip about the pg tests, I'm off to buy a hundred .

feedmenow · 05/02/2007 12:02

Hello? Anyone there? Please can I visit The Hut?
Have been lurking for a couple of weeks but wanted to actually come in today if thats OK?
Had an ERPC for missed m/c a couple of weeks ago. Bleeding finally stopped and dp and I got down and jiggy with it a couple of times this weekend. However, dp had obviously had a few too many beers and couldn't produce the goods, so to speak. Now, having only just m/c I haven't actually SAID we're trying again, in fact I think I'll pretend not to for a while so that I don't get too disappointed. But how am I meant to "not try" and then be surprised if he can't even finish the job in the first place?

plummymummy · 05/02/2007 12:25

Tell him you propose a no beer rule for the 3rd week in your cycle for no particular reason and hope he goes along with it

sideways · 05/02/2007 12:27

Hello feedmenow

plummy - dd is 3.9 - I was hoping for 3 1/2 years

Catbaby - Alan Rickman is lovely. I wouldn't say no!

I can understand how you feel about those us moaning because we can't conceive the second. It must seem that we are really ungrateful. Not much I can say in my defence really, but the yearning for a second is if anything worse than the first time round. Possibly because I conceived almost instantly first time and so this not getting my own way is new to me, and partly because I am getting on in years and I desperately don't want to dd to be an only child. I am eternally and extremely grateful that I have dd, but that doesn't stop the desperate desire for another iykwim.

plummymummy · 05/02/2007 12:46

I feel the same way Sideways. Also I didn't actually feel maternal until I had ds and now when I see how gentle and loving he is with babies it makes it even harder. I also conceived straight away with him. I conceived easily last year but had two m/c. This is the first month I haven't conceived when trying, but at least it isn't a m/c.

plummymummy · 05/02/2007 12:48

Hope noone feels I was being tactless when saying I have conceived easily in the past. It's irrelevant really cos the only thing that matters is a successful pregnancy and birth - that's what we all want.

Catbabymummy · 05/02/2007 14:13

Not at all! I conceived at first attempt, dh and I have been shagging every couple of days so not out of the running...

Oh no, too upbeat! We have to be miserable and moan..

Actually got even more crap news when I got into work, one of my colleagues, who is also a close friend, had a heart attack at the weekend. He's okay, spoke to his dw earlier, but not out of the woods yet. Feel really bad because he had a row with one of his underlings and it was partly my fault
Just keeping my fingers crossed he is okay.
Feedmenow - your welcome, you know the rules I guess, no cheery happy people allowed!

Catbabymummy · 05/02/2007 14:21

PM - yes we do, but that's okay coz you're allowed to here
SW - Don't apologise, no need for that sort of stuff here! We can share Alan Rickman!
Just bought 20 tests on ebay for £5. They are just the right size for training my collection of venus fly traps...

duchesse · 05/02/2007 14:24

What, after use? Handy.

I'd never thought of recycling the buggers. I just plunge them as far into the bathroom bin as I can.

OP posts:
feedmenow · 05/02/2007 14:27

Maybe we could have a go at coming up with other ways to recycle the buggers! How about building model ships out of them?

Catbabymummy · 05/02/2007 14:58

Actually I meant before I use them, since I'm in cynical can't get pg mode atm...

Anyone else think of any novel uses of pg test sticks?

feedmenow · 05/02/2007 15:08

Oooh, how about cot building? OK, you'd need quite a few test sticks but it often feels like it will take that long anyway!

mum03 · 05/02/2007 20:44

Please is there anything here to take away all sence and feelings. I am feeling so negative and need to numb off the feelings.

beansprout · 05/02/2007 20:48

Are you after words of wisdom or just good old fashioned hard drugs?

mum03 · 05/02/2007 20:52

Good old fashion drugs will do me!

beansprout · 05/02/2007 20:53

In that case..... what can I get you?!

mum03 · 05/02/2007 21:04

Prozac or morphine!

mum03 · 05/02/2007 21:13

Thanks for being here beansprout, it helps to know that I am not alone. But sensibility has struck and the best place I can go now is to bed for sleep. Can you put the prozac somewhere in the middle of the room so that if I get up in the middle of the night I can just come in for a little boost? Cheers.

Janus · 05/02/2007 21:16

Evening ladies, (janus enters with a magnum of wine to share and some lime doritos, help yourselves...)
Can I ask you if any of you have had an HSG? I'm having one in a week and not looking forward to it (also it puts out any ttc this month, added bummer). I think you would be honest with me, is it shite or really shite? I'm also terrified they'll find something major wrong, did you feel like this, don't think I can take any more bad news.

Catbabymummy · 05/02/2007 22:06

What's a HSG?

Tomorrow would have been my dating scan. I should have been full of excitement at the prospect of seeing my little bean for the first time. Instead I'm NOT PREGNANT!!! Going to jump on dh and demand we make baby as soon as he gets off his f*ing computer.

duchesse · 05/02/2007 22:17

Sorry Janus, I don't the answer to your question. I hope it's not too shite for you though.

As if everything else weren't enough, I seem to have done something to my right thumb- it feels strained or sprained and I can barely move it. It's one of my typing fingers too.
