Thought I would create a fresh thread as the original had been going since Feb. This is for anyone TTC #1, a bit of moral support as we all attempt to embark on the scary journey that is parenthood! Join us if you are a mix of terrified and excited, don't really know what you're doing yet and hadn't heard of CM before you started reading Mumsnet!!

I've been wondering: do you all keep having sex during the tww? I tend to get a bit funny about it and worry we might affect implantation somehow. I know it's probably silly but wanted to hear others' opinions Smile

SuchaJem · 08/06/2016 17:46

fuzz we've usually had enough of it by the time we get to the TWW! If we're in the mood though I don't think twice about it. The only thing that worries me slightly is how / if orgasms affect implantation. There doesn't seem to be much consensus online about this, but your uterus contracts when you orgasm and I'm not sure if that would be helpful to an embryo getting settled in or not! Confused

fuzzinmybrain · 08/06/2016 18:02

Haha Sucha I know what you mean Grin I had a look online and like you said, couldn't find anything definitive. I guess it's fine, as long as it's nothing too... strenuous? Continuing with the TMI topic; I think my libido is back after not really ever being in the mood while on the implant or pill - I never realised it was affecting me...! Or it might be all the BDing that's made me like this!

Jjspoon · 08/06/2016 18:13

Busy... I've just noticed your post a few pages back about insomnia... I've been struggling too the last few weeks which is not like me at usually no problems sleeping but I put it down to stress at work at the moment. I wonder anyone else has noticed this coming off contraception?

Fuzz... that was one of the first things I noticed when I stopped taking the pill that my libido went sky high about 2 weeks later! I never realised what I was like before wasn't just normal for me but it obviously makes a difference. Helpful for baby making lol!

Jjspoon · 08/06/2016 18:14

How do you make people's names bold when mentioning them?

SuchaJem · 08/06/2016 18:21

fuzz I definitely think having more sex makes me want it more. Feel closer to my DH too since ttc I think.

I've been off the pill years but yes it definitely suppressed my libido too.

Jj you put a * either side of the word to make it bold Smile

BusyNothings · 08/06/2016 18:28

jj thank god it's not just me. I was worried it was going to stick around but I slept like a baby last night although knackered when I woke up.

I can't imagine that DTD would impact fertilisation? Surely people keep going during the tww with no problems.

I haven't got a clue what my libido is or whether the sticky affected it. I got it at 21 lol so it was all over the place then!

fuzzinmybrain · 08/06/2016 18:38

Jj and busy I noticed insomnia and my sleep schedule being WAY off for about 1-2 months after coming off contraception... Drinking lavander tea and sleep tea (supposed to be ok to drink while TTC in moderation) helped a bit and now I'm back to normal.

SuchaJem · 08/06/2016 18:43

Agreed re DTD busy, I'm sure orgasm doesn't make a difference either. One of those paranoid TWW wonderings Hmm

What's a sticky? Excuse my ignorance.

BusyNothings · 08/06/2016 19:11

It's what I called my implant lol. It freaked hubby out and made me laugh so it stuck. Blush

Also I just don't want to give up orgasms for 2 weeks lol

SuchaJem · 08/06/2016 19:22

Amen!

AnnaKateNZ · 09/06/2016 00:52

I hope it is ok for me to join too.

This is my first month off the pill, I had the normal withdrawl bleed but I am not sure what my next AF off the pill is going to be like or when it might turn up. I was pretty regular before the pill so hoping it is still the same. I am using Ovia to track my FW and we DTD three times during that week. I'm not sure if we hit the mark as I am still trying to get my head around what my cycle is like off the pill. I have had some cramping on my left side but no other big signs. We are planning on "seeing what happens" before getting too into it but I have found it hard to play with the possibility of getting pregnant and not get obsessive about it. I highly doubt anything will come of this month but I will be very impatient waiting for my next FW haha.

Pyjamas81 · 09/06/2016 11:11

Hi Anna!

Welcome aboard the waiting for AF to sort her life out bus! I'm due tomorrow, really hoping it happens so I know where I'm at. This is the only time I've looked forward to AF arriving!

I've got Ovia too - finding the tips and info on there really informative!

BusyNothings · 09/06/2016 11:31

Can I just say I was beginning to feel insane looking forward to AF but now I know. Not alone. lol

AnnaKateNZ · 09/06/2016 21:47

Hi Pyjamas,

Have you come off the pill recently as well. How is it going for you? any sign of AF yet?

Pyjamas81 · 09/06/2016 22:28

Hi Anna - I came off the pill about a month ago (had been on it a couple of months, and had implant for three years immediately before that ) - had withdrawal bleed a couple of days later. Assuming my cycle is normal, AF should arrive tomorrow - fingers crossed! The signs are there - feeling a bit bloated, skin not it's best and in a FOUL mood. Honestly - felt like setting everyone on fire at work today, and came home and watched tv in spare room because I just wanted to totally be alone! GRUMPY

How are you doing?

SuchaJem · 09/06/2016 22:32

Hi Anna Smile

Lol pyjamas! Such a good PMS description. My moods are off the chart before AF too, I'm a total loon.

Pyjamas81 · 09/06/2016 22:40

It seems to be so much worse this time! Total loss of perspective over what would normally be minor annoyances!

AnnaKateNZ · 09/06/2016 23:18

Yip that sounds like AF Pyjamas haha (sorry don't know to make bold)

I expected my hormones to go crazy but they haven't too bad so far, a bit weepy over silly things but not the crisis I was preparing for. That being said the fun of AF is still ten days away.

Eva30 · 10/06/2016 05:24

Hey anna. For bold, you put * either side of the word you want bold.
Made me laugh about pms, I should come with a flashing sign above my head "approach with care"!! Don't know how DH puts up with it hahaGrin
Cd24 for me, 9dpo, no signs of anything (symptoms or AF coming) except very tired but that could be anything

AnnaKateNZ · 10/06/2016 06:24

Thanks Eva

TBH I just think my OH is lucky he doesn't have to go through it himself so I don't mind subjecting him to moodswings and complaints about cramps. One AF I cried literally all day about a cute kitten I saw for sale on the internet, that was probably a bit much for him to deal with haha

BusyNothings · 10/06/2016 07:54

I love that description of pms pjs lol. My hubby has never seen me have pms as I've had the implant since well before we met. And let's just say I was scary shall we lol? Still waiting for AF and PMS to arrive so god knows what he's going to be like. Probably run away in fear and divorce me.

Still nothing for me. Always a bit heavy and crampy in lower stomach area and generally feeling poop but no signs of anything else =[

Pyjamas81 · 10/06/2016 13:50

Still no sign of AF - despite having now morphed into a fire-breathing dragon in the office! Poor DH - he's wondering what kind of lunatic he's married Shock

SuchaJem · 10/06/2016 16:54

7 DPO for me and still just sore boobs - they've been sore since 1 DPO and not let up! I think this has happened before but it is unusual for me.

Still another week to go. Time has slowed down into the TWW time warp... Why two weeks Mother Nature why!!! HmmShockConfused

Pyjamas81 · 10/06/2016 22:23

Hang in there jem! Am still to experience the 2ww - must be infuriating!

No AF today - annoyance, yet I've still got a face like thunder. A few glasses of Winehave helped, fingers crossed AF puts in an appearance tomorrow!
