Thought I would create a fresh thread as the original had been going since Feb. This is for anyone TTC #1, a bit of moral support as we all attempt to embark on the scary journey that is parenthood! Join us if you are a mix of terrified and excited, don't really know what you're doing yet and hadn't heard of CM before you started reading Mumsnet!!

Busy I am SO glad you just said that- I mean I appreciate that it involves fingers and inserting, only I don't think I've ever actually felt my cervix... I could certainly never feel the strings of my coil when it was in, even though every nurse and doctor on the planet said they could see them when they looked. Coil removal wasn't a problem but I do think that on account of me being quite tall that I must be quite long?! Which maybe results in me never finding it... Which also results in me not knowing whether I'm actually feeling the correct fluid or anything- just a guess!! Hence the decision to do OPKs!!

BusyNothings · 03/06/2016 18:57

Well you know more than me! First time I ever knew it was a thing was when I downloaded the cycle tracker app and it has a section for you to track all its different mucus and changes and other stuff that I was completely floored by. I'm not a squeamish person but that made me like woah...

BusyNothings · 04/06/2016 10:58

Maybe a bit tmi but no idea who else I can tell! Last night was our first DTD without protection... Felt odd lol like everything I've trained my whole life not to do and here I am! Anyone else felt like that the first time?

Pyjamas81 · 04/06/2016 11:56

Know exactly what you mean Busy! We haven't dtd unprotected yet and I know it's going to feel strange given I've done everything in my power to avoid getting pregnant until now!

When did everyone start opk testing?

BusyNothings · 04/06/2016 15:00

May have already started... Blush is that ridiculous?

Sheilasfeels · 04/06/2016 23:24

Hi everyone, im brand new to MN so looking forward to chatting with you! A bit about me:

Age 32
Ttc #1
11th cycle (chemical in 1st cycle)

Reckon im about 4 dpo. Have learnt a lot about myself since ttc, such as that i always get nauseus a week before af, how handy and not at all confusing!

Pyjamas81 · 05/06/2016 10:17

We also dtd for the first time unprotected last night, went against everything I've done for the last 20 years! Even though it's about 5 days before AF is due (I think - who knows as I've just come off pill) and chances of conceiving are low, I still felt very strange and totally slightly terrified afterwards!

Poppydm · 05/06/2016 10:45

Hi ladies [waves] Can I join you all?

Name: Poppy
Age: 32
TTC: #1
Cycle #1

It's so nice to hear people are feeling the same as me. I came off the pill in March and I felt WEIRD DTD for the first time knowing it was unprotected. I had my usual withdrawal bleed then it was a bit of a waiting game as after that, it's hard to know what CD you're on, when you're ovulating and when AF is due. I had what I think was my first 'real' AF 26 days later. It came with no warning and was short and sweet but have classed that as CD1. I've downloaded ovia and according to that have been in my fertile week so have been DTD every other day. I've been using OPKs but not had a positive. This might be because I've only tested once per day and prob not used the best sample. So hoping I have actually ovulated this month. I feel a big mix of feelings just like you are all describing. So exciting but absolutely terrifying at the same time. So I'm on CD17 (I think). Going to try to DTD again tonight if we can. X

BusyNothings · 05/06/2016 11:12

I know exactly how you feel. It's very very odd! I've not had a period in 5 years so even though I have a tracker app not a clue where I am in my cycle. I'm doing OPKs but not a clue if they are negative or invalid lol I keep googling it but the diagrams are useless.

hi sheila! Hi poppy! You guys already sound like you have a good idea of where you are up to so nice to have some more ladies!

I'm really struggling atm my energy and concentration levels are all over the place and some nights I'm dead and some nights (like last night) I'm awake half the night with no reason. Nothing else in my life has changed besides having the implant out. Could hormones trying to sort themselves out into a normal rhythm again be doing this?

Sheilasfeels · 05/06/2016 12:56

Busynothings it could be, i had the hormone coil out in July last year, and had all kinds of weirdnesses! I think thats why i had the chemical so soon after removal. Once the hormones regulated the most shocking thing has been having PMT again! It took a few months to realise that the tears and anger were happening right before AF!

Jjspoon · 05/06/2016 14:20

Hi all! I'll join please :)

Age 27 ttc#1 stopped the pill end of April after 12 years on it and now on cycle 2 cd5. I'm trying to be relaxed at the moment and just using the app clue to judge roughly when ovulating, planning to give it a few cycles first before thinking about tests and temping etc! My oh works shifts so might be difficult if I can't see him for a few days when we're working at opposite times but just hoping it all comes together at the right time!

My first month off the pill last month I was very emotional on and off (not like me at all!) So hoping the hormones settle down a bit more this cycle!

sparksalot · 05/06/2016 14:38

Hi guys! So I'm on cd20 today and symptom spotting like mad. Ive taken 2 test already and I know I should wait but it's just too tempting. My boobs are really sore and im quite emotional although that could just be early af symptoms as well. I think I'm going crazy 😯

Lufbuh1 · 05/06/2016 17:11

Hi all, I'll to join as well if that's ok...first MN post ever Smile Turn 27 next week and ttc #1. Still learning all the lingo; came off the pill at the end of March and going to start trying this month.

It looks like everyone is being very open so I'm just going to share! I've been keeping an eye on CM but haven't had a consistent cycle length since coming off the pill so wondering if it's worth using OPKs as well to make sure we catch the right time? Or whether to leave it a few months and then see.

I'm away a lot with work so just hoping it doesn't get in the way!

Eva30 · 05/06/2016 19:36

Hey all and welcome newbies! sparks I'm similar to you, cd19, 4dpo. I don't feel in the slightest bit pg but some people don't have symptoms early so hoping I'm one of them! Had my temp increase so hope it stays up now.

Rosey135 · 06/06/2016 10:10

Welcome :)

I'm two days till ETD did one this morning bfn :/ should have waited but not too bothered as I bought a load of cheapies off the Internet.

I stopped talking to my OH about it all as I was worried I was freaking him out and since then he's the one symptom spotting, every time I say I'm tired or achy or pretty much anything he's saying "you could be pregnant?" It's not helping me keep my mind off things but it's great he's getting a bit more involved.

I do feel very bloated and tired and sore boobs but they could all be af on her way.
There arnt any symptoms that are exclusively pregnancy and not af are there??

Eva30 · 06/06/2016 10:29

I'm relying on temping rosey to give me an early indication at to whether it's worked this month as all other symptoms seem to be similar to AF coming!! I'm either 5 or 6 dpo now and the wait is really bothering me!!!

BusyNothings · 06/06/2016 11:35

I don't know whether to invest in a thermometer as I have OPKs and don't want to overdo it.

How often do you guys think need to be DTD? Probably tmi but with work and dogs and lives more than once a week results in little sleep and me and dh wondering how to stop it becoming a chore. (God knows when will manage when we have a kid! Blush)

Eva30 · 06/06/2016 12:39

I just got a cheap bbt thermometer from Amazon for £4 and use them and opks. Here's my chart today. We make sure we dtd as much as poss during FW but I know what you mean, after general life when I get in bed I'm usually exhausted and asleep within 10 minutes!!

Eva30 · 06/06/2016 12:39

Ovia

First time TTC - thread 2
Jjspoon · 06/06/2016 13:02

I'm aiming for 3 times a week during fw. My app says it thinks I'll ovulate cd15 but my last cycle was only 26 days so that would make ovulation around cd12 (this Sunday coming!) So I'm aiming for this Tuesday, Friday, Sunday and next Tuesday again as really want that BFP this month! Apparently more than every other day makes the sperm not as good quality as needs time to build up again.

SuchaJem · 06/06/2016 13:17

Hi girls another first timer here can I join?

I'm Jem, am 32, ttc 1, cycle 6, day 18 - 3 DPO

Been trying 6 months now and getting quite upset that it hasn't happened yet. I haven't been on birth control for years, my cycles are like clockwork and I know when I'm ovulating - using opks and checking cm. So I'm sure we are having enough sex at the right time. Must be Mother Nature taking her time - I'm getting impatient! Envy

Good luck all xx

sparksalot · 06/06/2016 17:26

Hello all welcome!
I'm the same as you Jem doing all three right things we've been at it since Jan we had a chemical in March which was upsetting. But now I'm getting very impatient!!

Pyjamas81 · 06/06/2016 17:55

Know what you all mean about not having the time/inclination to dtd! Both of us have hectic and demanding jobs so frequently exhausted during the week! And we've never been an at it like rabbits kind of couple anyway ha ha.

BusyNothings · 06/06/2016 18:38

pj I know what you mean! I always look at people like wtf when they say they have sex like 4/5 times a week! Do they not eat? Or sleep? Or binge watch Netflix?!

I think my body is broken. A week since implant out. No spotting or anything. Doing OPKs just so I have something to do (control freak). And so far all I've had is a bit of cramp and insomnia =\

Pyjamas81 · 06/06/2016 19:03

Exactly Busy! We've got about 8 million series to catch up on on Netflix hahaha And I've just started a really good book...

Try not to worry too much about lack of post implant removal activity! Although I know I'll start worrying what the F is going on if AF doesn't arrive this weekend (supposed to be first real one after withdrawal bleed off pill)

It's so strange how the mind plays tricks on you - I had sharpish stomach pains and lower back pain today and even though I know it's next to have impossible to have conceived, the mind started to wander!

I read the unmumsy mum book the other week - a great read and very reassuring that I won't be a crap mum just because I'll feel totally overwhelmed and question our decision after the second month of no sleep or time to myself!
