Positive opk after a miscarriage

Hi, hoping someone a bit more knowledgable than me can help me figure this out! I had a medically managed miscarriage 9 days ago and have had strong positives on opks for the last 2 days. I know that they pick up hcg so presumed that this was just picking up left over hormones from the pregnancy. Today I had a very faint positive on a pregnancy test so looks as though my hormone levels are nearly back to normal, but the opk is still coming up with a strong positive. The pregnancy test is 10 miu and the opk 20 - so my question is this still just left over hormones when the pregnancy tests are getting lighter and the opks aren't?

I feel like its imminent Mel - either today or tomorrow. I'll see when I get the ov pains and the temp rise. Plus I'll do another opk tomorrow. Hoping it's cd12!

Bee1234 · 29/08/2016 17:57

Its not on the NHS unfortunately it's something I've opted to go for privately! As well as the genetic side of things, it can also tell u the gender - crazy!

If I remember correctly I DTD cd12, 14, 15 and 16! Pos OPK was cd15! OH was ill in the middle of spem so that went out the window! I just remember trying to dtd as much as poss when I got the pos opk! Same with my first pg too!

McBaby · 29/08/2016 18:13

Ovulation was cd14 we dtd 11,13 and 15 (plus A few to many times before 11) as i had Ewcm from 8-14 and pod opk on 14.

Thank you all :) I think that confirms what I was thinking - it's crazy trying to dtd days and days in a row. knackering, and probably unnecessary!

Wow Bee, that's amazing! Will you be finding out?

Bee1234 · 29/08/2016 19:29

Hehehe yes I will! I just can't wait! I really admire those who can but as this will be my first I just want to be as prepared as I can with everything!

I totally agree, I think DTD twice or three times ( at best ) in a row is perfectly fine over ovulation.

McBaby · 30/08/2016 05:42

Cos I'm impatient I did another one this morning and it's much clearer!

thatsnotmybear · 30/08/2016 10:02

Excellent McBaby! Have you told your DH yet?!

McBaby · 30/08/2016 10:15

I told him this morning when I did the test before he left for work at 5.30. Typical man style said there was only one line!!

jinglebellmel · 30/08/2016 11:12

Def 2 lines, congrats!

I've got a nearly positive opk on cd9?! They fade in so normally get a positive the next day which will be cd10 and don't normally ov till 13, not sure what's going on. We dtd last night as was planning on tonight off to get sperm numbers back up but don't know what to do now!

Ali, what happened with you did you ov?

Bee, I don't blame you, enjoy and get every bit of excitement you can from this pregnancy! Hope it goes well, let us know x

Mel I would test again at around 2pm, if super positive then maybe go for it tonight.

I got a positive opk today too, on CD13. We DTD last night & the night before. Will DTD again tonight & tomorrow if possible. 3 times in a row is usually our limit, but I'm wondering if we're stopping too soon as we usually don't DTD on the actual day of ov (CD14). Does everyone else do it on the day they ov? I always thought that the day you got a positive opk was more important, but now I'm not sure!

Alibaba2 · 30/08/2016 12:46

Mel, test again later today and send us a pic of both.

I'm now thinking that my opk yesterday wasn't quite positive (see photo - starting from top: mon am, mon pm, tues am). Or maybe the opks have faded. Also my lines don't appear within a minute but within 5 mins.

Bear, I'm the same as you. Pos opk Tues (today), dtd Sun, Mon and will also dtd Tues and Weds. We may also dtd Thurs, not sure.

I reckon you should dtd Thurs too if you can.

Ali the bottom one looks positive to me.

I guess it depends when your temp goes up to indicate you have ovulated as to how long to keep going for. My positive was the day I ovulated so pretty much no chance of conception from the day after my positive!

thatsnotmybear · 30/08/2016 15:23

Definitely the bottom one Ali.

My LH surge is quite short. I had a very near positive opk yesterday afternoon, a positive this morning, but this afternoon's is fading already. We'll DTD tonight, then I expect my temp will be up tomorrow and maybe we won't need to DTD again tomorrow night thank goodness.

Alibaba2 · 30/08/2016 15:47

Thanks Bear, I'll test again later and see what I get. It's so useful doing 2 opks a day so you know exactly when the surge is. Tomorrow (cd12) would be closer to what it was last month.

My cm is now creamy, it was ewcm on Sunday. Does anyone else get that?

rider1975 · 30/08/2016 16:06

Hi ladies - haven't read all to date but just wanted to say a massive congrats to Blossom Flowers - well done that girl !
To Ali - yes was pg in March after trying first time but OPK was clockwork and none of these weird hormonal issues I have now. In a sense it feels like I've "aged" in last 6 months.
Jingle - I had some cramps and went into an NHS walk in centre. As I was pg they said couldn't touch me and referred me to a hospital with a walk in Early Pregnancy Unit - in London there are UCHL and St Barts. However, at my local hospital in Middlesex I could have gotten the same appointments by telephoning ahead. As it was, it was a long wait at the walk in centres. If u say u have pain, have had a MC and sound desperate - they'll deffo see you

rider1975 · 30/08/2016 16:15

Ali - bottom also looks positive to me Smile
I'm blind on your 2 lines McBaby but hope it is a positive Flowers

jinglebellmel · 30/08/2016 18:55

Yes bottom one does look more positive Ali.

I've been out all day, just did another opk and it looks pretty much the same, about halfway to positive which it normally is the day before I get a positive. Think I will conserve sperm tonight and see what it's like tomorrow. A bit concerned if I ov day 11 that the egg won't be mature, although at least dh won't be away I guess.

Thanks rider, that's useful to to know.

Hi Mel,

DD1 was conceived on a 25 day cycle when I ov'd on cd 10 or 11 - likewise my pg earlier this year. It wouldn't release if it wasn't mature - or perhaps it would, I have no idea! Confused

When is DH going away?

Alibaba2 · 30/08/2016 19:17

Mel - how long are your cycles normally and what day do you normally ov?

jinglebellmel · 30/08/2016 19:24

That's good to know thanks Ali :). Dh is away Saturday which is cd13 but I'm pretty hopefully I'll ov before then now, my ovaries feel like they're going to burst! My cycle is normally 25 days.

OP posts:
Alibaba2 · 30/08/2016 19:33

Me too, I think I'm ov'ing as we speak! Ouch!

Sounds like your surge will be tomorrow and ov Friday?

It's almost as if your egg knows to come out early before DH goes away Smile

These opks are so weird. I give it a minute and the line is so faint. Then I look a few mins later and the line is dark!
