Positive opk after a miscarriage

Hi, hoping someone a bit more knowledgable than me can help me figure this out! I had a medically managed miscarriage 9 days ago and have had strong positives on opks for the last 2 days. I know that they pick up hcg so presumed that this was just picking up left over hormones from the pregnancy. Today I had a very faint positive on a pregnancy test so looks as though my hormone levels are nearly back to normal, but the opk is still coming up with a strong positive. The pregnancy test is 10 miu and the opk 20 - so my question is this still just left over hormones when the pregnancy tests are getting lighter and the opks aren't?

Could be promising blossom!

Thanks Ali, that's helpful. I read something today that said women who consume less than 5 units of alcohol a week were twice as likely to concieve in 6 months.

Interesting Mel! I drank a fair amount when I conceived in March. Maybe it helps you relax.

Blossom, good luck for the next few days!!!

Yeah I drank a fair amount both times I conceived actually so my personal experience doesn't really back it up, but will try to cut down this month!

I drank a lot all three conceptions including holiday week and the week of my wedding!

jinglebellmel · 24/08/2016 20:02

Mel - I use an App called FemaleFertility.

You can also find free ones on YouTube - just search for 'fertility hypnotherapy'.

Zita West has one on iTunes called "Getting Pregnant Naturally'.

Now here's a question for you:

Does sperm survive in all kinds of cm or just ewcm?

thatsnotmybear · 25/08/2016 11:08

Ali I read that it's only watery cm and ewcm that are sperm-friendly. The other types (glue, creamy) are hostile and I think more acidic.

I was only drinking moderately before the mc but it's definitely increased since then, especially on holiday, so am going to cut right back & only drink if I go out at the weekend.

Alibaba2 · 25/08/2016 11:18

So when they say that sperm survives 3-5 days, it actually only survives while you have ewcm? How many days does the average person have ewcm for? Does anyone know?

thatsnotmybear · 25/08/2016 12:53

I think 'some' sperm can probably survive in any type of cm, it's just that more sperm are more likely to survive for longer in the friendlier types. My DSIS was avoiding DTD during her entire FW & managed to get pg (in a not trying, not preventing scenario) from surviving sperm.

Well done Blossom! Any symptoms?

I think you're both right re the cm. It sounds like sperm can survive in creamy cm but not as long as ewcm and they can travel much better in ewcm. They don't survive well in sticky cm (I don't think I get this kind of cm, I go straight from AF to creamy).

Are your temps still up Blossom?

Well done for being patient!

McBaby · 25/08/2016 15:38

Blossom how have you held out so long! I am very jealous of your willpower!

Sorry - that posted twice!

I'm with you on testing. I like to hold out until I have a strong feeling either way - which last month was way before any time I could have tested.

jinglebellmel · 25/08/2016 18:59

Hope Af stays away blossom!

Not really sure about the cm Ali, I think they can survive without the ewcm but not for as long maybe.

Have you got a chart you can post? Or when did you get your opk positive?

Fingers crossed for you!
