Positive opk after a miscarriage

Hi, hoping someone a bit more knowledgable than me can help me figure this out! I had a medically managed miscarriage 9 days ago and have had strong positives on opks for the last 2 days. I know that they pick up hcg so presumed that this was just picking up left over hormones from the pregnancy. Today I had a very faint positive on a pregnancy test so looks as though my hormone levels are nearly back to normal, but the opk is still coming up with a strong positive. The pregnancy test is 10 miu and the opk 20 - so my question is this still just left over hormones when the pregnancy tests are getting lighter and the opks aren't?

More likely that you're pregnant than didn't ov I'd say blossom!

I think being hopeful is all part of ttc as it could happen at any time, we just don't know what's going on in there. Well, you got the timing right and it's approaching 2 weeks post ov so you'll know very soon.

When did you say you were testing?

I've had cm both pre-AF and in early pg. I noticed quite a lot of it in pg but then I was over a week late when I tested.

McBaby · 26/08/2016 19:04

Did any of you have really strange pains in the months after miscarriage. I am in 6dpo so to early for af and too late for ovulation. It's like cramp/period pain really low down on my pelvic bone. Almost like the low down pressure you get when heavily pregnant. I'm presuming it's my body still getting back to normal after mc!

jinglebellmel · 26/08/2016 19:17

I had some strange pains the 1st month, similar to ov pains but they were after ov, turned out to be a cyst on my ovary (all gone now so nothing to worry about). Also had a lot of cramping the next month from ov to Af, not sure what that was but it only lasted the one month.

Thank you I was hoping it was normal rather than a problem! I

Alibaba2 · 26/08/2016 19:45

Yes I got cramps on the first 2 cycles at 5dpo. I had hoped it was implantation or the uterus preparing for implantation.

I had it last cycle around cd21 and put it down to the start of progesterone decreasing or perhaps the corpus luteum breaking down - not sure when that happens.

Hi ladies - sorry for radio silence - was crazy working and preparing for hols. Now we're here and chillax. I particularly wanted to comment about the early scans. I had early scans at 5, 7 and 8 weeks on the NHS due to already having had a MC. Having already had one missed MC, I didn't want to leave it. McBaby, I had a lot of weirdness and odd "pain" - 3.5 months later, it's getting back to normal but I still feel different from before MC - just anxiety about nothing in particular. I'm already resigned to fact that having a child might not work out for me.

Alibaba2 · 27/08/2016 08:36

Nice to hear you're chillaxing Rider!

Stay positive on the ttc front. I couldn't imagine getting pg before I had my first. I thought it would never happen. It's such a massive life change, it's hard to picture. Even when I was pg I couldn't imagine it. I was paranoid that I was infertile.

Hope the anxiety is getting better.

You fell pg pretty easy before right? So third time lucky?

I'm on cd8 today and will start opks today. What is the best time to do a opk, is it 2pm?

Planning on holding out dtd until cd10 (depending what opks say today/tomorrow).

Boobs do feel tingly and have had creamy cm since cd5 so wonder if I will ov sooner this month. I did have 2 days of spotting pre-AF so hope I have my days correct...

Yeah deffo! And you may not be as much as 15dpo if you got the opk positive on 12th. You may have ov'd on 13th or 14th...

What's your EDD?

It's always such a shock - even when it's the thing you wanted most in the world. The hormones kick in and everything seems fuzzy and a bit scary. Totally normal.

McBaby · 27/08/2016 10:59

Congratulations blossom exciting times. And don't worry about the strength of the line.

Alibaba2 · 27/08/2016 13:03

Id love to know what Bee's EDD is too. Bee, if you're still out there, let us know how you're doing Smile

jinglebellmel · 27/08/2016 15:37

Yay! I think any line on a cheapie is good at 15 dpo :)

Ali, think mid afternoon is best time for opk. Hope everyone is getting on okay.

Rider, how did you go about getting early scans with the NHS? I hope you are having a relaxing holiday.

thatsnotmybear · 28/08/2016 12:14

How are you doing Mel?

I'm feeling really blah today. I should be feeling optimistic as am on CD11, in FW & should ov in a few days but for some reason I feel deflated. Someone give me a virtual slap!!

jinglebellmel · 28/08/2016 12:43

:( that's not good bear. I think after a few months it starts to become hard to imagine it happening doesn't it. But, you have a 30% ish chance of getting pregnant this month, you know your body can do it, so the odds are in your favour that it will happen in the next few months. You can do it!

Having said all that, I know exactly how you feel and am a bit negative myself! Cd 7 today, hoping my positivity will make an appearance soon. I've not had any spotting since Af finished though (so far) which is nice as I'd been having it right up to ov since the mc.

OP posts:
Alibaba2 · 28/08/2016 15:26

That's a good sign Mel Smile

Sorry you're feeling negative Bear, it's such a rollercoaster. I actually feel quite grumpy around ov for whatever reason. I think it's the aches and pains and all the dtd.

I'm on cd9 and it feels imminent so I'm thinking ov will be cd12.

Will yours be cd14 Bear?
