Positive opk after a miscarriage

Hi, hoping someone a bit more knowledgable than me can help me figure this out! I had a medically managed miscarriage 9 days ago and have had strong positives on opks for the last 2 days. I know that they pick up hcg so presumed that this was just picking up left over hormones from the pregnancy. Today I had a very faint positive on a pregnancy test so looks as though my hormone levels are nearly back to normal, but the opk is still coming up with a strong positive. The pregnancy test is 10 miu and the opk 20 - so my question is this still just left over hormones when the pregnancy tests are getting lighter and the opks aren't?

Sorry for your loss Rider. Did you fall pg fairly easily the first time?

Mel, how weird! Was one FMU and the other not?

I have just woken up from a night of baby/pg dreams! There is no escaping it!!!

jinglebellmel · 29/05/2016 07:56

No, out of the same pot of wee - nice image for first thing in the morning!i guess the cheap ones just aren't as sensitive as they say they are.

Oh no, hope you're alright Allium, its so all consuming I suppose it's bound to be on your subconscious mind too.

Hi all! Welcome rider - sorry you're here too

Oh mel how bloody annoying!! Maybe the ic tests aren't as sensitive as they're made out to be. Not sure if you've said but are you still spotting?

Allium how's your hol going? Baby dreams are horrible when it consumes every bloody waking thought.

rider sounds like your loss was similar gestation to mine. I'm sorry.

I'm not sure but think I'm gearing up to ovulate- sticks getting progressively darker since yesterday and some CM. Today's was just a fraction lighter then the control. I also had a tiny weeny dot of blood when wiping earlier, not sure what that was I don't think the witch is close if my opks are so dark?? I'm sure I surged last week too just before my first bfn... God knows what's going on. I don't even know why I'm testing because all I'm gleaning from it is confusion!

jinglebellmel · 29/05/2016 17:22

Urgh, a friend just announced she's 12 weeks pregnant on a group chat I'm in, she doesn't know about the miscarriage. Obviously really happy for her but I'm feeling awful, she's due 2 weeks after I would have been.

How strange Mel!

DrMum, could it be ov bleeding? This is a thing as well as implantation bleeding. Sounds promising though for ov!

My holiday is helping, so nice to get away. I am still obsessed with my cycle but it's nice to not be at home.

Still no AF but feel it's gonna happen tomorrow which would fit in with the spotting last Thurs/Fri. I still don't think I ov'd this month though.

Have been reading that chances of conceiving in the first month are high because of high progesterone leftover from the pg. Once you get your first period after MC, fertility returns to normal.

Let's see!

jinglebellmel · 29/05/2016 17:24

Sorry that was off topic.

Sounds positive Drmum, fingers crossed you are :)

OP posts:
jinglebellmel · 29/05/2016 17:35

Glad your enjoying it Allium. The progesterone thing would make sense I guess, would just be good if our bodies would bloody ovulate and help us out a bit!

Allium40 · 29/05/2016 18:20

Sorry, my "how strange" was in response to your 2 different test results. Our posts crossed!

I feel your pain re your friend's news. My colleague is due within days of what would have been my due date. It will always remind me.

My friend had a MC when I was pg with my 2nd but she was pg again by the time I gave birth thankfully. It is really painful when you have that reminder.

And I seem to be noticing pg women and small babies EVERYWHERE!

Come on the eggs and progesterone!

DrMum83 · 29/05/2016 19:37

Hi

I know mel sorry you're in this situation - my best friend told me she was pregnant the day I went round to tell her I was back in February/early March! There would have been a day between our due dates. Absolutely devastating when I miscarried, she's nearly 17 weeks now. I hope to god I'm pregnant by the time her baby comes. It's so hard, I'm happy for her but I internally wince when anyone asks her due date. Not sure if that makes me a bad person but it's the way I feel.
Glad your hol is nice Allium

So how many DC do we have already?
I have a DD 16m, I had an early mc pre her and then obviously the one after her. I'm 33.

Allium40 · 29/05/2016 20:31

It doesn't make you a bad person DrMum.

I'm 40, I have a 6 year old and a 4 year old.

jinglebellmel · 29/05/2016 20:35

Not a bad person at all Drmum, it's such mixed emotions - being happy for them but feeling it should be you sharing your good news. I feel like I need to distance myself from the group of friends until the initial excitement is over and they've stopped talking about it, but I worry this will offend my friend and ruin my friendships. I don't want to explain my reasons as I don't want to cast a shadow over her happy news. I was feeling fine but this has floored me :(. Sorry that you're in a difficult situation too.

I'm 31 and am very lucky to have a lovely 2.5 year old ds, no previous pregnancies/miscarriages. I will forever be grateful for how busy and distracted he's kept me over the last few weeks!

jinglebellmel · 29/05/2016 20:40

That must be tough Allium, i can at least avoid my friend, much harder with a colleague. I have some heavily pregnant friends - I've been fine with that but this one announcing her 12 week scan just now has bothered me much more than I'd expected. Dh is being great but I feel it's set me right back. And yes, where did all these pregnant women come from all of a sudden?!

OP posts:
Allium40 · 31/05/2016 06:09

AF has arrived but feel ok.

How are you all getting on?

jinglebellmel · 31/05/2016 06:39

I'm sorry Allium.

Still getting a faint positive this morning. I've also had a dull stichy feeling on and off in my sides over the last 2 weeks, I thought it might just be my body trying to ovulate, but now I'm getting paranoid maybe it's infection or something. Not feeling too positive really! Hope the rest of you are doing better.

OP posts:
Allium40 · 31/05/2016 07:35

I didn't take any antibiotics after the MC but thought if there was an infection I would know about it - like a fever or I've heard it's really painful. I had so many mild aches and pains last cycle all the way through, I'm sure it's all normal. Hope you get to the bottom of it soon x

jinglebellmel · 31/05/2016 19:39

Thanks Allium, I'm sure you're right and it's nothing. I have to go into the epu for blood tests tomorrow anyway so will mention it to them.

I've had ewcm today and sore boobs, but opks have finally, after about 14 days gone negative! I can see why they tell you to wait a cycle before ttc actually, it's just crazy!

OP posts:
DrMum83 · 31/05/2016 20:14

Glad you've got an appt with epu tomorrow, mel it'll hopefully put your mind at ease. Have you had any fevers or discharge? I agree, this last few weeks have been completely crazy!

Allium - sorry af came, unfortunately I came on today too Sad I'd just started getting my hopes up. At least we can start afresh now. How's your hol?

jinglebellmel · 31/05/2016 20:23

Oh sorry Drmum, hopefully it will all be much easier to follow and a bit more predictable when your new cycle starts. Fingers crossed this will be the last Af you and Allium see for a while.

I've not had any other symptoms of infection, so I'm really hoping it's nothing. I'm looking out for any little pain or niggle and I'm probably just being a bit paranoid.

Hope you're alright Rider.

OP posts:
DrMum83 · 31/05/2016 20:26

That's good. Hopefully it won't be anything and your bhcg will be minute amounts tomorrow. Let us know. Will keep my fingers crossed.
I keep doing pregnancy tests even though I'm bleeding, I can't help myself. I need help!

Allium40 · 01/06/2016 11:34

Good luck today Mel and good that you are getting ov/post-ov signs, even though opk is neg. Maybe lh surge is over and you're now post-ov.

Hols are ok thanks DrMum. Period is heavier today which isn't very compatible with the beach but nice to be away from the norm.

Not getting on great with OH, he's not very sympathetic any more. Think he thinks I should be ok by now! Angry

jinglebellmel · 01/06/2016 12:25

Oh really Allium, that doesn't sound helpful. I know it's awful for men too, but I think this ongoing craziness with our bodies, worrying about every twinge and then first period is something they just can't really understand. My dh is great, but he doesn't have to live with my constant paranoia about infection, checking for cm, imagining sore boobs- it's just not all consuming for them the way it is for us.

OP posts:
jinglebellmel · 01/06/2016 12:33

blood test suggested no infection, which is a big relief. Still waiting for the hormone levels back, fingers crossed they are minimal as you say Drmum

OP posts:
jinglebellmel · 01/06/2016 12:45

Sorry keep posting too soon, with the help of my 2 year old!

Not surprising Drmum, you come not to mistrust your body's signs after all this, I'm so used to testing every day now I'm sure I'll be exactly the same.

OP posts:
jinglebellmel · 01/06/2016 14:12

Hcg is 21 so have to go in for another scan later in the week. Feel like the epu is my second home now!

OP posts:
Allium40 · 01/06/2016 16:29

Is that higher than it should be Mel?

I'm a bit behind with all this but was reading the ebook of SMEP today, pretty good. Definitely going to follow that this month.

When we were "trying" last year, we dtd once the day I got ov pains and then either a few days earlier or later, whichever we felt like it. No wonder I didn't get a result! Confused
