Hello ladies. I noticed the last thread filled up, seemed to happen all of a sudden! Hoping you find your way here (prepares for tumbleweed)

For reference here's thread 3 www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2593041-TTC-after-miscarriage-lucky-thread-number-3

All those we are trying to conceive a child after miscarriage are welcome here, whether it's your first or you already have DC

Good luck ladies. Let's have some BFPs, we've earned it

That sounds very positive Lucky. Hang tight little purple bean!

Kate I'm OK thanks. How are you doing?

Normal flow kicked in last night. I really wish people going through a mc were given more information by doctors, even if that info is just everything is all over the place and we're not sure what will happen, that's better than not knowing if what you're going through is normal or indicative of a bigger problem. EPAU nurse suggested once I'd had a period then things should return to normal but nearly 6 months later nothing is normal. I really feel for women of previous generations who didn't even have the internet to speak to others going through the same. Without you lot and MN I'd have no idea of what mc was like for others, or even that it was so common.

I had ridiculously intense pregnancy dreams too. Night before bfp I dreamed I had to deliver my baby by c section on my own, a bit like Ripley removing the alien. Blood and gore was basically the recurrent theme. Don't remember my dreams after mc but then those few days and weeks afterwards feel like a blur.

That sounds great Lucky!

Sorry things haven't settled yet insufficiently. As if the mc isn't tough enough, the waiting and confusion makes it even worse

Looks like my dark opk yesterday is the start of something as i've got ridiculous amounts of ewcm today. Dtd last night and will do so for next few days.

YY IC. I spoke to my mum the other day and she asked if I'd said anything to my Grandad. I haven't, because I'd assumed that he would consider it "women's issues" and not his business especially as it was so early, but she said no, and that my Grandma had suffered miscarriages so he'd probably understand. That made me wish she was alive so I could talk to her about it, because I hadn't realised. I don't know if I will mention it to my granddad though, he is not good with feelings and things like that.

Hi Mrs. I'm really sorry I don't have any advice. Have you seen your consultant since you started the clomid? As far as I know fish oils and vitamin d are meant to help regulate your cycle so it might be an idea. I read a short LP wasn't a problem as long as you ovulated around 14 days after AF.

Could the brown CM be implantation? I remember someone saying on MN they spotted around ovulation but this was a sign of a strong ovulation (the increased progesterone).

Sorry I can't be of proper help Sad

IC really sorry your periods are all over the shop. For someone who was always bang on 30 days mine haven't been as timely / same type of flow either. Are you taking supplements? Again I believe the fish oil and vitamin D have helped mine. I've been taking them before ovulation.

If any of you are interested there is a company called Geneva diagnostics that have tests for hormone levels etc, they can get idea of what's going on with your hormones and make recommendations. I've never taken the test but was considering it before I got preg first time because the docs had said I might have PCOS. The tests are around £300 I think. Maybe less depending on how much you want tested. I'll dig the link out if anyone is interested.

theAntsareMyFriends · 02/06/2016 09:37

Just wondering if anyone here went straight from mc bleeding to AF. I got a negative PG test nearly 3 weeks ago. I then joined this thread thinking - 'any minute now I'll stop bleeding and be TTC'.

I continued bleeding, fairly light but not as light as spotting, and started heavily bleeding last Monday. Was really hoping it is AF but its been 10 days and I'm bleeding as heavily as when I first MC. Dithering about whether or not to call the hospital back. 8 weeks of bleeding is driving me crazy!

Hi ants. I would call the doctors or EPU and get their advice. How far along were you? Xx

I suspect you've got retained products. If contact them so they can scan you.

jodiebee664 · 02/06/2016 10:14

Hi All,
Just catching up as am away with work.
purple you asked about preseed...I've tried it but found it a bit sloppy (sorry tmi) so last month tried conceive plus which was a lot better and worked well with the applicator...and I've got a BFP this month - who knows if it was down to that but worth a try!!
Not sure who said it further up but yes anybody who experiences mc is so strong to get through it, not easy at all, since mine i just felt like i was running a race to move forward and each AF was a hurdle and it got harder to run each time!
Sorry for the analogy but that was just how it felt for me!
Really hoping you all get BFP's soon...and they all stick for us! Makes me so mad when i read awful stories in the news about child neglect and abuse (like the awful one yesterday) and then we're all on here wanting it so badly!
sorry - rant over!

x

jodiebee664 · 02/06/2016 10:16

ants I had bleeding for 8 weeks+ and it was horrible. I went to EPU who tested to say all was fine, I cried and said I wanted it to stop and they gave me antibtiotics..I'm not sure if it was them or not but it did stop after I took them and then AF resumed normally.

theAntsareMyFriends · 02/06/2016 10:43

Thanks for your replies. I was 9 weeks and had retained products so got scanned every week for 5 weeks and had medical management twice which failed both times. I was booked in for surgery but my HCG levels were only 90 so they decided it would come out naturally. At the last scan I just had a blood clot which they said would come out with next AF. I had 3 big clots come out at the beginning of last week so assume that was the retained products and hopped it meant that AF had arrived.

jodie did you have any sign of infection as well as the bleeding. I don't have pain, temperature or anything else so assumed I didn't have one but thats good to know I could ask for them.

jodiebee664 · 02/06/2016 10:57

there were no signs of infection but they said it could be an infection (i did feel like they were just offering suggestions as I was pleading for answers)

for me I had medical management and then bled (v heavy at first) for about 3 weeks. i then had a BFN. then about 2 weeks later I started bleeding again (2nd week was heavier than at the mc) which went on for 8-9 weeks, it was mainly light towards the end and sometimes I'd think it had stopped but would start again - that was when i went to EPU - was scanned and told all clear and give antibitoics. hope it clears for you soon

theAntsareMyFriends · 02/06/2016 12:31

8-9 weeks! I really will have lost it if I have to carry on bleeding for that long. I think I will call the hospital back but it just feels like a waste of time. When I go in (taking a day of precious annual leave and cancelling work commitments) I wait around for a few hours only to be told that it can be like this for some people, there is nothing they can do and there is no 'normal' MC. If I thought they would have anything useful to give me I would ring them like a shot but as I have my doubts I'm dithering about what to do.

jodie just noticed up thread that you have got a BFP. Congratulations.

jodiebee664 · 02/06/2016 12:50

thank you ants I'm happy and want to get excited but am cautious too!

i know exactly what you mean as they said all the same to me - it was only when i cried that they offered the antibiotics! they also offered me a gynae appointment telling me to cancel if i didn't need it as these appointments 'are like gold dust' I had stopped bleeding by then but had the appointment anyway as I was expecting an expert to tell me what had happened to my body and what would happen next etc - pretty much all she said was 'oh you've had an mc...these things happen...everyone is different...you'll be fine, try again if you want to.' that one did feel like a waste of time.

good luck and i hope you get the help you need.

It's so hard how there is no pattern isn't there..

I saw my urologist this morning (it was actually a different one who had taken over the clinics of the chaps I usually see). Anyway she was really helpful and she feels the recurrent urinary infections have contributed to the miscarriages especially the first one but potentially the second one also. She is going to refer me to antenatal now and work with them to get me on the correct antibiotics to take during pregnancy as a preventative measure. She said she has seen lots of cases like this who have gone on to have a family. She said without my spleen I'm more susceptible to infections as it is so it Makes sense that I need help with the immune issue. She will also ask them to investigate any other causes of miscarriages.

Not sure if she was all talk and whether anything will come of it but it felt good to have someone who was finally paying attention. Cautiously hopeful.

That's not good Mrs unsure. Have you seen the consultant since you started clomid? I don't know much about it to be honest. I would recommend the Geneva diagnostic tests I mentioned up thread if you are unsure what's generally happening with your cycles. Did you have cycle issues before miscarriage? I've not used the hormone test from Geneva but I had a stool test a couple of years ago which identified 16 types of bacteria. I was constantly suffering with thrush and infections and would regularly vomit every few weeks. The doctors weren't really that concerned but it started taking over my life. Once addressed it definitely improved things.

Have a read

You need to sign up with a practitioner though to be able to be tested I think.

purpleviolet1 · 02/06/2016 20:15

Btw hope I don't sound forceful. It's not for everyone but just making you away of it in case you don't know about it!

Can they not just give you progesterone pessaries? Ignore my ignorance lol I'm not sure how it all works... I was ok, and feeling quite good as I took a day off work tomorrow and we were hoping to go away tonight. We didn't book it as recently every time we have booked to go away mil has got really unwell and she is currently in hospital. We decided she was ok though and I just booked somewhere a couple of hours away that looked lovely. But just got a call from my mum who said my gran is quite unwell, she is in hospital and they think she has severe pneumonia, her blood pressure is low and she hasn't opened her eyes since this morning. She had an endoscopy yesterday and was ok after that but had an asthma attack this morning. They are going to do a CT scan now as they think they might have pinched something when they did the endoscopy yesterday.

I'm so worried for her and got a really bad feeling. Not sure I want to be 2.5 hours away in case anything happens. Waiting for an update and I might visit her tonight or tomorrow morning and then will decide from there.

Does cramping mean ovulation? Like lower back cramps? I am cramping lots now!

BertieBotts · 02/06/2016 21:08

Ooh and it's one sided, I think it is!! Grin
