TTC following an ectopic pregnancy

Hi, My DH and I have been TTC for the last 8 months and finally found out I was pregnant before christmas. Since then I have been in hospital and have been treated for an ectopic pregnancy. I was given a hefty dose of Methotrexate which has made me feel rotten and should induce a miscarriage soon. We can't start TTC for 3 months now which is really hard to take as it took us a while the first time - but everything will have to be on hold until the summer now. Has anyone experienced this?

Aww Lissie. Lock up those pregnancy tests!!
Not that I can talk. I did a test and got a very faint positive last week. It was 6 weeks since my miscarriage and my boobs were killing me. I had a sleepless night and then AF arrived the next morning. I think I'm going to bin my cheap ebay tests. How are you feeling now about putting TTC on hold?

Cedar- Hope you're feeling a bit better now.

lissie · 19/08/2007 20:22

its a relief. i dont have to spend a fortune on tests and spend 2w pooing myself.

cedar, are you ok?

cedar12 · 20/08/2007 08:03

Ok thanks just tired, trying not to symptom spot. I just hoping the infection hasnt affected anything.

lissie · 25/08/2007 09:37

how are you doing everyone (but especially cedar)

cedar12 · 25/08/2007 16:28

Feeling loads better all this waiting is just doing my head in though. I am really scared about testing on wednesday so scared it wont have worked. Trying not to symptom spot as the pessaries I have to take at the mo can cause symptoms of pg even if you arent. I am really shitting my self about wednesday I think I will probably be shaking so much i wont be able to test.
How are you doing Lissie? I hope your feeling better after your scare at the drs. Are you going to ttc again or leave it until you see the drs in oct. I hope everyones enjoying the sunshine today it lovely down here today. Has anyone heard anything about pink elephant lately?

lissie · 25/08/2007 18:32

not heard from her. did you see who harveysaunt is? missnatalie!

we move on the 11th and my fertile day is the 9th so rather than actively ttc we will just not not ttc iykwim.

when on weds will you test? i have a good feeling about this

cedar12 · 26/08/2007 16:58

I have got to test first thing on wednesday morning. I have had a few signs but dont feel pg but then again the only times I felt pg it was ectopic, I only tested with dd because I suddenly realised i was late. I didnt start getting sick etc until about 5weeks with her. I am so scared about testing though. Do you feel better about being a bit my relaxed about the whole ttc thing? it so hard not to ttc isnt it. Have you got help with the move, I hope the packings going ok. It so hard to pack with dc they need everything to the last minute.
Hello everybody hope your all ok.

lissie · 26/08/2007 21:25

we are getting movers to do it, dh is fecking useless at anything practical and noah has rediscovered all his old toys i feel a bit weird tbh. this period has really unnerved me. its been very odd again and im a bit worried about it now.

will you let me know when you've tested? i so badly want this to work for you!

cedar12 · 27/08/2007 09:21

Lucy did exactly the same thing then we moved all her baby toy came out again, and her favourite thing to annoy me at the moment is to empty the eaves cupboard in our loft room to find all the baby toys and baby clothes. I am testing 1st thing on wed so will let you know straight away.

cedar12 · 27/08/2007 09:24

I am sure all the stress you have been under cant do all your hormones any good, they probably need a while to recover. hopefully they will settle down soon.

lissie · 27/08/2007 17:55

well, have done my now customary post-period HPT and bfn. 1 month down, 1 to go. its only 5w til my ep's edd. god, the last 8m have gone quickly.

cedar12 · 28/08/2007 08:25

My edd would have been in about 3 weeks Lissie. About the same time dd starts school. Its gone so quickly for me to. I cant believe we have been ttc for almost 3 years now!

lissie · 28/08/2007 10:24

god, didnt realise that they were so close!it really zooms by doesnt it? we've been trying for 2y now and im so glad we've taken this break!

cedar12 · 28/08/2007 11:23

I think we will be taking a break awell if this ivf doesnt work. I am so worried about tomorrow I dont feel pg.

Lubyloo · 28/08/2007 13:39

Hi Cedar,

Just wanted to let you know I am thinking about you and keeping my fingers firmly crossed for a BFP for you tomorrow.

cedar12 · 28/08/2007 13:58

Thanks Lubyloo

sparklygothkat · 28/08/2007 14:05

Hi all, just popping back in, how is everyone?? Hope you are well.

lissie · 28/08/2007 16:38

hi SGK and luby,

cedar, i have everything firmly crossed for you x

cedar12 · 29/08/2007 08:24

I am afraid it wasn't good news bfn Not feeling to bad It think after 3 years me and dh have both had enough. So we have decided to give ttc a break. I will not use contraception but will not actively try. I feel quite liberated no more date watching etc. We are taking dd away on holiday next week before she starts school. So I am going to concentrate on her and dh at the moment. I think I am also going to give mumnet a break for a while I think it just makes me obsess more. Good Luck everyone.

Lubyloo · 29/08/2007 09:00

((((((Cedar)))))) So sorry you didn't get your BFP.I really was hoping this was it for you. You sound like you are at peace with not actively TTC. As you say it can be a huge relief not date watching all the time.

A break from Mumsnet may also be a good idea. I know I needed a break from it a few months ago as it can make you obsess more. You know we will all be here for you if and when you do decide to come back.

Hope you have a lovely time away with DD and that you and DH can relax. Wishing you lots of luck for the future.

xx

cedar12 · 29/08/2007 09:27

thanks Luby, I just spoke to the clinic. I got very angry as they tried to convince me it was nothing to do with the infection and I am not having it I am not being fobbed of after paying £4000 to be given an infection. But I am not going to let it rule my life this time.

lissie · 29/08/2007 09:35

oh cedar, im so sorry. dont let them fob you off but i agree that a ttc break will be a good thing, i will miss you tho. my email is on my profile, im also on facebook (west mids network) please stay in touch. x

99redballoons · 30/08/2007 19:46
