Well, I thouht I'd better start this thread as I am CD1 of my 6th cycle of trying for our very precious first baby. This is going to be a lucky and positive thread, I can feel it so I'm laying down the babydust now so that as you join me, you can collect your dose .

For those who join me, what are you doing differently this cycle?

OP posts:

greedyformincepies · 04/12/2006 19:35

festivefettle - i meant to say congrats on the possibl ovulation! you must only be on about cd43 or similar!!!!! hope you managed to keep the BDing up!

festivefettle · 04/12/2006 19:40

CD45!!! But hey who's counting!

We'd kind of given up on BD-ing, just didn't seem worth the effort in the move, so hope last Tuesday is close enough - not holding out much hope, as I've heard that if your cycles are over 42 days, they're not likely to be fertile anyway.

At least now hopefully, we can get on with the next cycle!

greedyformincepies · 04/12/2006 19:46

THATS NOT TRUE FESTIVEFETTLE!!!!!! my cycle used to be 45+ days and i concieved both my children with my freakishly long cycle!!! how many days before (possible) ovulation did you BD? could be ok!

greedyformincepies · 04/12/2006 19:47

ANYWAY! think how much money you save on tampons!

greedyformincepies · 04/12/2006 19:50

festivefettle - i just read back and i see your temp went up on friday! that means you ov'd on thur, so sex on tue is fine! esp if it was in the evening! YIPPEE! you might not need to wait till feb for your bfp!!!!

greedyformincepies · 04/12/2006 20:06

hey perve - i am missing you! i need to be insulted!

FestivelyFrostyFloss · 04/12/2006 21:18

Hello everyone. Still in the same place, am I aren't I hell bloody knows. this morning I was sure I was, this evening I've come out in about 4 spots so it suddenly seems so much less likely.

I've been at work all day so excuse the short rude post. have had a horrid day really but hope everyone is ok!!

festivefettle · 04/12/2006 21:25

Thanks Greeymincepieeater (how many have you had this season yet? I had my first on Friday - it was yummy!!)

We'll keep everything crossed that we can be BFP twins as well in time for Christmas!

But you're right - loads of money saved on tampons!!

at fatsantaslidesin! I'm being corrupted by santa

Sparklybits - Hey, with a name like that why are you worrying about spots, hairy legs etc, believe me I would think sparkles would do it for any man

How is everyone else? MrsMcSanta, Ready, sparkleypink, santasmum, bojingles, MrsHolly and I know there are so many more of you - I was only just getting my head around you all with your old names and now they are all sparkly and festive, I'm even more confused. So love and hugs to you all

Have a great day tomorrow all - I'm in London all day for a course, so probably won't log on until the evening.

Take care all

festivefettle · 04/12/2006 21:29

Festivelyfrostyfloss - sorry crossed with you.

lots of festive hugs - hope you know where you are soon - limbo is not a great place to be in. Take care and I hope you feel better in the morning

BTW - my friend was extra spotty while first pregnant, so it doesn't necessarily mean AF.

But on that matter, and on the over30 front - why do I still get spots before AF, even though I'm not a teenager anymore. I was always told I'd grow out of it - ITS NOT FAIR

PeckaRolloverAgain · 04/12/2006 22:07

I did it

I tested

and got a BFP for my birthday

I SO hope you will all be right behind me, I really, really do

Owlet · 04/12/2006 22:25

You guys are jolly active, had heaps to read to catch up with all! and that was just from Sunday pm! Thanks for your encouragement. Gracie14 looks like we are cycle buddies this month. Thinking of changing to a snowyowlet to get into the fun - but may be technically challenging!
Ive been trying for 6 years but have learnt more in the last 6 months since reading threads like these
Anyway been on the pink grapefruit up to ov. and take 500mg evening primrose, b6 and Folic acid all the way through - with extra b6 and junior asprin DPO. Seen an improvement in my cycle when charting and extended the luteal phase by 2 extra days (now 12). Also use CBFM. I now feel more in control - although consultant says its an Art more than a science to get BFP and I thought I was good at art - clearly not! BTW, Im 44 and still trying for my first - heres hoping for a fab xmas pressy to all those ladies in 2ww.

YuleTideways · 04/12/2006 22:27

Yay - owlet, so happy not to be the oldest anymore

Welcome by the way

XmassyCharlotte · 04/12/2006 22:49

Congratulations Peckarollsoveragain!!! What an amazing birthday present.

Best of luck!!!!

Snowyowlet · 04/12/2006 22:56

Hope Yule is not too far behind me in the age gameand that there are a few others in their 40's on this thread! The way I look at it while Im still hatching eggs there's still a chance!(mind you I should know in Jan if they are hard boiled ones cos got our first IVF consultancy visit

santasmum · 04/12/2006 22:58

wow brilliant news P'rollsoveragain!!!!!!!!!!

santasmum · 04/12/2006 23:01

can anyone give me some advice on temping please? I'm cd2 of cycle 2...what sort of thermo do i need - a basal one? how many times a day do i take my temp? and what does it tell me regarding my ov? - i have very regular 28 day cycles but want to check that i ov when i think i do - am familiar with cervical mucus etc, advice much appreciated, xxxxxx

MincePieShu · 04/12/2006 23:08

Been away from MN for a few days - not much hope of catching up with everyone. Sorry to those of you now with AF, or having had BFNs. Congrats to lovelybird, and any other BFPs.

Feeling very sorry for myself at the moment - think AF will be here by the end of the week. Keep finding myself on the verge of tears, so obviously pre-menstrual (this is entirely normal for me). 4 out of about 20 women in the building I work in are pg, which doesn't help at the moment

On a positive note, like Merry, both DH and I are "normal" based on GP tests, so will be asking for referral now. My lovely GP was saying how often that the referral is enough to get things working, so will be keeping fingers crossed. Will miss my brief monthly chats with GP, though.

And, more positive still, we're off on holiday in a couple of weeks, just at the right time of the month for us Then it'll be Christmas

Right - time for bed. Night-night - sorry I can't keep up with you lot.

XmassyCharlotte · 04/12/2006 23:14

Hi Santasmum
I'm pretty new to this too (I'm CD3 on Cycle 2 - so almost identical to you!!), and have only just started temping.

I bought the book 'Take Charge of Your Fertility', and have got most of my information about all this either from there, or from the helpful ladies on here.

I started temping a few days ago, and was so impatient I went to Boots and bought a Braun digital oral thermometer from there (£9.99). I think you can get cheaper ones from ebay. Mine measures in centigrade only, and beeps when it's ready after just a few seconds. I have been measuring when I wake up in the morning, and setting an alarm to ensure I take my temp at the same time each day. Then I have been entering the information on my 14 day trial of the ovusoft software (www.ovusoft.com), along with other indications of fertility (not many at the mo!).

It's all new to me, and I'm sure there are others on here who can furnish you with more information! As far as I know, when you ovulate your temperature sharply increases, although that is a sign that you have already ovulated. Hope this helps!

santasmum · 04/12/2006 23:30

thanks xmassycharlotte, thats helpful, think i'll go thermometer hunting tomorrow!! i didnt realise you were new to this like me, how old are you and do u have any children already? - i'm 29 and have 3 kids from my first marriage, was younger and didn't even think about all the technical ttc stuff back then. Now i have a new dh and we are trying for our first baby together, hopefully it won't take too long!!!
