Well, I thouht I'd better start this thread as I am CD1 of my 6th cycle of trying for our very precious first baby. This is going to be a lucky and positive thread, I can feel it so I'm laying down the babydust now so that as you join me, you can collect your dose .

For those who join me, what are you doing differently this cycle?

About this temperature shift. MrsMc, I've also seen ref to 3 days sustained rise. However Fertility Friend says in bold that you ovulate the day before the temperature shift, but that can't be right because my strongest LH line (albeit not positive) was on Friday, my crippling ovulation pains on Saturday, then on Sunday my pre-ov mania and all cm signs vanished. So I'd pinpoint ovulation to Saturday, but temp didn't rise till Tuesday. This is always my pattern, but if FF is right, I would have ov'd on Monday. How I'm supposed to conceive when the egg is released outside my cm/open cervix window is beyond me! Do you (and anyone else) think that this is just overgeneralisation by FF despite the bold emphasis: Does anyone else get a shift a few days after ov rather than next day?

Impatience · 22/11/2006 10:52

MrsMc and her testing plans! I could join you on a coordinate test on the 3rd. Should we synchronise watches?! AF would be due on 4th, but 3rd will be 14 days post ov so should be OK. Er, 14 days according to my estimation!

That's next Sunday - not far off, although it will blooming well feel far off once next week gets going. I know my 2 week waits!

Ready · 22/11/2006 10:55

MrsMc - Greedy was teasing me. Isn't she mean Congrats on the job, and the possibility of the consultancy too. It's all go!!

Kittiwake - It sounds Japanese? Or perhaps it's just how I am pronouncing it in my head I am CD12 too... lots of BDing

Impatience - I have to admit that I am no expert when it comes to temping and ovulating (I always ask MrsMc!!) but I personally think that every woman is different and there cannot be any steadfast rules! That's why there are so many different factors to point to OV??? I would say trust the signs of your own body and only use books as a guide because there are lots of conflicting arguments about temping alone. try not to worry

Hope everyone else is doing ok?? Who will be first to test in December????

Impatience · 22/11/2006 11:02

Congrats on job MrsMc!

I also agree on best time to check CM.

TMI warning! Greedy: I've lost track of where you are in your cycle, but I had a large pink mucus blob last week, before my normal EWCM kicked in. This one was bigger and more pink than normal (so of course I did a pg test...) but my first CM is often a bit pink. I think it's the remnants of AF getting washed out. Perhaps the same for you - any other ov signs?

Phew, I think that's cleared my MN backlog. Now to some work

greedyguzzler · 22/11/2006 12:14

impatience - thanks! makes me feel better that other people get strange stuff going on too! i am actually on cd25 (hence me being mainly on the nov thread!) and still havent ov'd! not sure what is going on! i did always used to have 45 day cycles and i am now starting to think maybe i have gone back to one of them, OR i am having an anovulatory cycle! getting a bit fed up of BDing! and i never thought i would hear myself say that....i LOVE sex! (normally!) i said on the nov thread....i am too scared to stop BDing in case i suddenly ovulate the next day! not sure i can keep going much longer though!

greedyguzzler · 22/11/2006 12:15

how sweet that you did a pg test when you got your pink blob impatience! that is EXACTLY the sort of thing i do!

Ready · 22/11/2006 12:47

45 day cycles!! Wow. That is long! The longest I have ever had was 31 days and that was back in the days when I didn't want to get pg. It was a nervous 3 days

Impatience · 22/11/2006 13:04

hey Greedy, you do know that sperm survive in FM for a few days, right? so you would be allowed to take the occassional day off to recharge your batteries

Let us know when you know what your body's doing, won't you? I don't know who or where you are but I really want to know whether you're about to ovulate What would we do without the internet?!

KitKat30 · 22/11/2006 13:09

Hi guys - can I join you on the Dec thread? CD1 today, so no lucky Nov for me! Here's hoping we get our Xmas BFPs!!

Ready · 22/11/2006 13:33

Sorry that you are joining us KitKat (or should I say Twix?? )but fingers crossed for a BFP from Father Christmas or whatever Yuletide creation you believe (?) in

MrsMcJnr · 22/11/2006 16:04

Kittiwake - My DH and I are 32 (well, for a few more weeks anyway!) and we are trying for our first too. I keep forgetting that it is meant to be an exciting thing I just want it to happen! I have been off the pill for 6 cycles npw - I have read and know many people who do fall quickly after coming off the pill but my excuse is that I did not know enough about this dark art back then to time BDing properly - hope it happens for you very soon.

Impatience - I think Ready is right, there are so many variations in charts from person to person and indeed for one person from cycle to cycle, as long as your temp does rise I don't think you need worry, you know your body and if you think you Ovd on Sat, you probably did. Keep karma lady! Testing date, 5am 3/12 then? AF better not turn up or I'll be in a stinker (or stinking drunk!) You scared me when you said that is next week - so it is!

Hello Kitkat sorry for you that you had to join us but it's great for us to have you here we've moved all the riff raff to the back of the sleigh and given you a seat in the posh end

Impatience · 22/11/2006 16:30

Anyone testing before MrsMcSpink and me on the 3rd? I am very nervous. I only just ov'd and already I'm imagining that lonely blue line, and me hurting my eyes sqinting saying 'honey I think I can see something! Oh no, there's nothing' I don't believe there'll ever be 2 lines! Except for the pretend ones which are just evil evaporations. Uh oh, going slightly manic here, and there're many days yet to go...!!!

(And yet that quiet small hope that this will be the month... )

MrsMcJnr · 22/11/2006 16:39

I'm nervous too. Never done a pg test and got a positive so I just won't believe it until I've done it and even then I probably won't either. Thing is, why shouldn't it happen for us this cycle? think of it that way...

OP posts:
sideways · 22/11/2006 16:51

I'm due on 28th (so still technically November ) but if af does turn up will probably get some spotting at the weekend.

MrsMc - good luck to hubby for tomorrow

sideways · 22/11/2006 16:54

By the way, if I ov on CD11 can I still test 14 days later even though af is not yet due?

MrsMcJnr · 22/11/2006 17:03

Thanks Sideways. Babydust to you!

I'm confused about that whole AF being due V dpo thing! surely if you are 14dpo but AF isn't due that must mean you can get a BFP then doesn't it? why do tests say you must be overdue your AF unless you buy the ultra sensitive ones? do you think it is based on the "average" cycle of 28 days with Ov on cd14?

OP posts:
honeyapple · 22/11/2006 17:09

sorry to crash this thread...
All tests should work 14 dpo... and the sensitive ones work 10dpo... hence saying 4 days b4 your af is due. So, yes it is based on 28 day cycle.

Kittiwake · 22/11/2006 17:10

MrsMc -I know what you mean about dark arts I kind of feel why didn't I know this stuff
I'm usually a pretty patient person but I think once you have decided to go for it, it concentrates the mind somewhat. It's a strange position to be in good luck for next week and for your DH tomorrow.

Ready - waves at fellow CD12er - plenty of BDing for us too

greedyguzzler · 22/11/2006 17:13

I think that as soon as the embryo implants it starts producing HCG and it normally implants about 10dpo. 1st couple of days after implantation the hormaone levels are too low, but they double by the day so by 12dpo you should get a faint bfp is one is to be had! from personal experience i got both my bfps at only 11dpo, so i would test from then! mind you if its a bfn you wouldnt believe it anyway till af arrived, so could be expensive!
i LOVE the name MrsMcSpink! WHY didnt I think of that? i am ashamed!
we have taken the odd day off impatience, but not many! might have a rest tonight! cant tell whats CM and what is baby gravy anymore! anyone else find this?

greedyguzzler · 22/11/2006 17:16

sorry...meant to say how sad i am for you twix. bfns are crap arent they? shall we rename them bfsfn! bfn just doesnt sum it up enough!

Impatience · 22/11/2006 17:36

Greedy: baby gravy! Makes up for the MrsMcSpink miss!

FemaleoftheSpecies · 22/11/2006 18:30

all the very best indeed to your hubby for tomorrow mrs mc j / spink :-)

and fingers crossed for a bfp for you too - you deserve it lots

hi to everyone else. mad with plumbers, too much work and other rubbish here so sorry for being impersonal (tho still managed to fit in 2 madly timed tests - bfn - due some time sun/mon i think but only waggled legs in air twice this month so would be an immaculate conception)

FemaleoftheSpecies · 22/11/2006 18:34

gosh and congrats on the job too mrs mc j.. all good signs. tell your hubby at least television gets better around this time of year so his enforced time off will be a bit better than if it was in summer. and the ashes of course (if he's a cricket fan).

i'd clearly be a crap mum as can't keep up with a few days of mumsnet threads let alone much more! babydust to all and good luck to testers for the last week of november :-)

FemaleoftheSpecies · 22/11/2006 18:53
