5 months off pill, still no period

Hi ladies, I came off the pill (Yasmin) over 5 months ago now and have had no period. Twice in this 5 month window I have had very, very light spotting that has happened for 3 days each time (but it really was super light). I have had bloods taken that came up "normal" but what the hell does that mean given depending in when in a cycle they were looking for a normal result would alter accordingly depending on where in the cycle you were!

I have a GP appointment in 2 weeks (which is 6 months no period) and would love some help with what question I should be asking in terms of next steps.

Also, have any of you had to wait this long for your first period?

I am 32, TTC#1, was on Yasmin for 8 years and another pill for 5 years before that.

Thanks.

Didn't mean for my last post to come across as flippant- I know that even a week on this TTC journey can seem like forever; heck, even a day when you're waiting for signs! I just meant that 3 months is better than a year and hopefully you can get some answers / results. Flowers

Ginfizz90 · 04/02/2015 23:37

Exactly I can handle another 3 months, I was really down and constantly worrying and googling so much I couldn't sleep but I've decided to just let my body do it's thing. don't be silly!! It's fine :) have you had any pains that your oving? Fingers crossed for you!

Pollypoppins · 05/02/2015 06:19

Still nothing for me either :( I did notice that I was getting a few ad symptoms on Monday (sore boobs and mild cramps) that I haven't experienced since stopping the pill in Oct. I did get my hopes up that it was the start of things but nothing has happened. Trying to think positive and that it could be a good sign that hormones are trying to do something.

eskimolaura · 05/02/2015 19:08

Ginfizz no pains to speak of. Day 5 of flashing smiley, cm still watery- possible little stringiness to it, but don't know if that's just wishful thinking.

Polly Again, any signs must be a good thing. Flowers

I'm thinking that even if I don't get a peak smiley in the next few days, at least my body seems to be gearing up to do something. If it doesn't quite manage the big 'O' this month, there's always next month. (That's me at my most positive- very difficult for a natural pessimist!) Hmm

Keep up the staying in touch thing; I'm sure we'll all have something to report soon!

Msr12 · 06/02/2015 09:31

Really glad I've found this as I was feeling like I was the only one going through this stress! (And yes I know we aren't meant to stress about it! Smile)

I came off the pill (mycrogynon) in August and no period yet. Went for blood tests in November and apparently everything is "normal" but still nothing. I never thought I'd be hoping for a period!!

I've been going to acupuncture for 4 weeks and finally had some cramping last week but still nothing has appeared. Booked in for another doctors app in March but am so frustrated-I spent all those years worried about getting pregnant but it's obviously not that easy!
Does anyone know what further tests they do? The doctor said she would refer me to a gyno if no period by March but they couldn't do some investigations until we've been trying a year...

Ginfizz90 · 06/02/2015 14:12

It's so nice to know we are not alone isn't it?

I think they will induce a bleed to check hormone levels, then internal ultrasounds.

I've had so many weird cramps and aches the past week in praying something's going on in there lol!!

Peanut85 · 06/02/2015 16:27

Hi Ladies,
I have just been reading down the thread - and have realised I am not alone!
Can I join you all? I am in a similar situation - I came off my pill (Cilest) in August last year, have been having 'bleeds' for a couple of days if that every month, and then December's bleed didn't show up at all. January I had a bleed for 3 days and nothing else since. Im nearly 30 and hoping TTC #1.
Today i've had really painful cramping just on my left hand side, so i'm not sure if this is just waiting for my period, or if it could be a start of a pregnancy. i'm so confused. Feel like i have just been googling all sorts of signs and symptoms with nothing actually happening. Do you think it's worth seeing a doctor or should i be more patient?

mountaingirl01 · 06/02/2015 20:39

Hi - I just wanted to pop by and give you some hope ..

When I came off the pill (microgynon 10 years) it took 8 months for my body to ovulate again (obviously I also wasn't having periods). I only knew I was ovulating thanks to opks (I bought loads of cheap ones). I then fell pregnant without having had a period. Sadly we lost that baby. Again, I still didn't have periods for another 6 months but still fell pregnant again. Sadly we also lost that baby as well. 4 weeks after my second miscarriage I got my bfp again and fingers crossed everything is looking ok this time. Not having periods was NOT the cause of my miscarriages but it was incredibly frustrating, especially that initial 8 months when I thought I was going mad. Let your bodies get back into their natural cycle; bc really messes with your hormones, which are delicate things at the best of times!

I definitely recommend using cheap opks and also temping to get an idea of your cycle. Dual hormone opks were particularly good once I knew I was back into a semblance of a cycle again, as they at least showed my body was trying to get back to normal!

Flowers to you all, it is a really tough and frustrating time!

Msr12 · 06/02/2015 22:05

Thanks ginfizz90- I've got my Drs app booked in for March and hoping something happens before then but it's useful to know what to expect.

Fingers crossed for you mountaingirl01 Smile and thanks for the advice. I've just bought some cheap ovulation tests and thermometer so I can have an idea when something is happening and stop reading too much into every stomach cramp I have!

Peanut85 have you taken a test? I've had random stomach cramps before and it seems easy to read too much into them but if you are worried go to your doctors.

Vaughaybaby88 · 07/02/2015 14:38

It's so nice to be able to share and see others are in the same boat! Hoping for a bleed later this week or a positive pregnancy test I can hope lol. Got a follow up doctors appointment either way x

Ginfizz90 · 09/02/2015 20:30

Hi everyone!!

How are we all??

Any news

Pollypoppins · 09/02/2015 20:38

Nothing from me :( No changes at all, still waiting.

How are you?

eskimolaura · 09/02/2015 21:11

CD18 for me, and I had a peak smiley on the clear blue opk on Friday, so we've been at it like rabbits. Had lots of watery cm and some ewcm today too, although I thought I'd ovulated on Friday or Saturday at the latest.

Still thinking about all of you on this thread and hoping that you can join me on the buses soon. I joined the February bus and it's lots of fun. Flowers Flowers Flowers

eskimolaura · 09/02/2015 21:12

(Obviously it's CD18 after the Norethisterone and withdrawal bleed, not after a natural period) x

Ginfizz90 · 09/02/2015 21:19

Sorry to hear that polly! Have you had any signs at all?

Eskimo how exciting for you :)

I've been really crampy for about 5 days on and off, I took an opk tonight and it's the darkest I have ever seen it!!! So excited - even though it's still negative I'm hoping it coincides with all these cramps I've been having the past few days. Surely it means my body is doing something in there!? What do you think??

5 months off pill, still no period
eskimolaura · 09/02/2015 21:23

I've never used those kind of opks ginfizz, so I'm afraid I can't help you, but that sure is a dark line! Cramps are good! (I think!) x

bucketfullofwater · 09/02/2015 21:28

That sounds really hopeful eskimolaura, have everything crossed for you!

Got my results back from the docs, progesterone low (1 point something) and LH high, didn't really understand what it meant when I was in the doctor and stupidly didnt ask enough questions so ended up feeling a bit fobbed of by him so going to try and see my usual doctor soon. Have to admit I had a bit of a cry when I got back home but hubby is being suitably lovely and supportive about it.

I've done the same as Mrs12 and bought a thermometer and internet ovulation tests in the hope of spotting something. fingers crossed for everyone

Ginfizz90 · 09/02/2015 22:25

Bucket make sure you sit down and talk it through so you can fully understand. It's horrible walking away feeling fobbed off. How long has it been now? Xxx

Moomin37 · 10/02/2015 18:51

On CD216, waiting for DH's SA results and on NHS waiting list for lap and dye (should be end of May). Have added royal jelly and maca to my collection of vitamins.

That's a cracking OPK Ginfizz fingers crossed for you :)

bucketfullofwater · 10/02/2015 20:36

Will do Ginfizz, think I may take DH along as he'll be able to mention anything I forget! Been 6 months of no period now :(

Msr12 · 13/02/2015 12:40

Well my thermometer has arrived so time to tracking! Hoping something will happen soon. It's six months with no period for me too bucket so I know how you feel ??

Fingers crossed for everyone!

Pollypoppins · 18/02/2015 18:28

How are we all? Any developments for anyone?

No change for me CD125 :( Booked a session with an acupuncturist for Friday so am looking forward to that, hopefully I can get some more helpful advice than the GP's have offered so far.

Moomin37 · 18/02/2015 19:44

Hello Polly funnily enough I did a count this morning and I'm on CD224! Just said to DH I have a good feeling about CD234 so fingers crossed... I'm hoping that stopping all exercise (boo) will solve the secondary amenorrhea (I'm eating a lot better too - lots if organic food and brown pasta, rice etc.). I've also added Maca and Royal Jelly to my long list of tablets. Good luck with the accupuncture - I keep meaning to ring my local one.

Angel2293 · 23/02/2015 13:56

Hi, I am exactly the same I stopped my pill on 11th Feb 2015 (at the end of the packet) as me and my partner are TTC. I haven't even had a withdrawal bleed.
I have taking a test and had negative result. So I am not pregnant yet I have no period.

I hope I can still ovulate without a period. Anyone else on Loeestrin ad how long did it take for you to get pregnant?

Many thanks

Ginfizz90 · 23/02/2015 19:02

Hi everyone, honestly thought last night was it... I had cramps, back ache and sore boobs!! All the signs but didn't show, today I have the same so I'm hoping, praying, pleading it could be any day!!!
