Well I'm just waiting for AF to show up and the timings mean I miss January all together. Anyone out there who would like to join me in trying for a BFP in February? :)

Twinkle, do you love babies? Do you think sex once a month is pretty good going? Would you enjoy being bored out of your skull having to watch BabyTV all day when it's too cold to go out? Do you hate time to yourself watching anything you fancy night or day on the telly? Would you be happy knowing you will forever dribble wee when you cough violently or laugh a little too raucously? Do you consider the pinnacle of your existence to be pushing a screaming 8lb mini you out of your vagina after 17 hours of abdomen-ripping and at times terrifying labour?

If the answer to any of the above is 'yes' then you're ready.

Ibeka if I hadn't seen it I wouldn't have believed it..two positives on two consecutive days. A surge is supposed to last 4 hrs Anyhoo..you haven't ov'd and by all accounts you should have by today at the latest.

Keep using opks and sexing when/if ewcm or a pos opk appears. You may well ov late in your cycle. Is this your first month charting?

Boris ov occurs between 24-36 hrs after the surge. The pos opk has detected the surge in luteinising hormone but unless you can be sure you caught the surge as it happened I would reckon on having 24 hrs left to get preggo. The egg is capable of being fertilised up to 12 hrs after it's released. Can you have sex tonight and in the morning? That would be v well timed.

P.s..if your hubby is young and healthy his spunk spermz from Wednesday will still be fighters.

Twinkletoes007 I'm TTC#1 too, and felt very nervous the first cycle. But when AF arrived the disappointment of not being pregnant was stronger than the nerves, so knew I was ready.

purdey in being ready for children you must also remember the subsequent 6 years of tantrums, then the hormones, sulking, money draining, energy sapping joy that is childhood into adolescence.

Thanks for the reassurance re timing. DH isn't as young as he could be but if his spunk is like him it'll be doing its damnedest to keep swimming.

Sax hope you get your BFP very soon. If AF appears next month (likely given that DH is away ov day and 2 days after) imagine I will feel the same as you did which will tell me I'm ready (subject to a few things on Purdey's list). So that's a good thing.

crazy I agree, want a refund on my education. I spent far to many years worrying I'd get preggers from unprotected sex. All thoes pounds I spent on confirms and pills I popped...

Dr Purdey - here's a question. The theory about sperm surviving 5 days before ov. Well do they have to have ewcm to survive in so unless you have that dtd is pointless?

Marmite, but these two are as strong as each other (I think)! And Ibeka peed on hers 24 hrs apart (I think)! Everything I've read about only being able to read a surge for a maximum of 4hrs is wrong!

Twinks, yes. That wonderful fact about 5-day old sperm waking from their snooze and fertilising the egg only applies if you've been swimming in the stretchy egg or watery stuff.

The whole sex ed thing is incredibly misleading. I don't remember being told how much hormonal contraception can screw up your cycles. I hadn't even given it a second thought until the day I stopped taking them and suddenly panicked about what exactly I've been putting into my body for the last 10 years.

Hoping to invoke the law of sod I topped up on sanitary products at the supermarket. Haven't needed any for 6 years (mini-pill) and been using old supplies since I came off it. Were there always so many options? long, short, thin, extra thin, contoured?... scented?

purdey, I don't believe it either! They were actually 25hours apart. Perhaps coming off the pill I got an extra strong LH surge to make up for many suppressed hormones :s

Enough EWCM to bake a pavlova his morning, now back to sticky/creamy. Now idea what is going on but hoping for a temp rise tomorrow. Yes, it's my first cycle. Was on cerazette until dec, had first AF 4 weeks later which is when I started charting. Was on mini pill for 3 years and combined on and off for 13 years before that so am very unsure what to expect. I seem to remember my cycles being 5 weeks though so if that were still the case I figure I could well have not OVed yet.

crazy your temps seem very low... Are you sure you're thermometer works?! I thought below 35 was bordering on hypothermia???

I too was on mini pill - perhaps that explains our odd charts??
