Well I'm just waiting for AF to show up and the timings mean I miss January all together. Anyone out there who would like to join me in trying for a BFP in February? :)

CoffeeTwo, 31, ttc #2, cycle 6, BFP due 10th February.

Ha! Ha! Yes, I thought you'd figure out I wasn't shy Grin Thanks for the welcomes and kind words. I will join you all proper when the crimson dam bursts its banks...

BabyBumpHopeful · 21/01/2015 13:59

Queen re opk. Back when I did it I got some ic's off Amazon. I think it was 50 for $20 or something like that (plus 20 hpt).

I would do the test after work in the afternoon, test at the same time each day. Do not use FMU as the higher concentration can lie to you.

LH is present all the time so a faint line isn't a positive. It's not until the line is as dark as, or darker than, the test line that it's positive.

Personally if I end up having to use opk again I'll be using the ones with the smiley and flashing smiley. I'll then also try bbt charting as well as that seems pretty easy.

QueenofKelsingra · 21/01/2015 14:05

thanks babybump - does the positive mean you are ovulating or about to?

QueenofKelsingra · 21/01/2015 14:06

also, do you use them all cycle or just leading up to when you think you OV?

BabyBumpHopeful · 21/01/2015 14:10

I'm CD23 here. Pretty sure 9 dpo but as I don't test I'm basing that on OV pain.

Continuing the DTD EOD just in case. I'm pretty over all the unnaturally time sex to be honest so a BFP or AF would be a reprieve in more ways than one! DH is still rising to the occasion so to speak, but I do find my mind wandering to less sexy things :S not that he knows mind!

Still feeling symptoms, thankfully the cm has stopped, but I'm not convinced either way until I see the words on the digital (taking ic's until I get a bfp then checking with digital) or AF comes to town in her regular manner.

BabyBumpHopeful · 21/01/2015 14:13

Positive means you are ovulating. I personally think you should test after AF stops and until you OV because some people ov early and you don't want to miss your window. I did it for the entire month until I had the CD then I tested 5 days prior the following cycle and until I ran out of ic's. As we weren't trying I was pretty lax about it the second round and kept forgetting :S

QueenofKelsingra · 21/01/2015 14:41

thanks babybump I may try that next month if this month doesn't work. might order them now to help with the 'law of sod' idea!

tessiegirl · 21/01/2015 14:46

Queen - I agree with BabyBump, that it is best to start using ic's once AF has stopped until you definitely know you have ovulated (the only way of confirming this is if you temp). However if you use the Clearblue opks then in the box you get a chart which tells you what day of your cycle to start testing depending on your cycle length.

The only thing I would add is that a positive doesn't definitely mean you are ovulating, it only shows that it has positively detected the LH surge which happens just before ovulation. Ovulation then usually happens between 12 -24 hours after this surge is first detected. Of course it is possible for your body to have this LH surge and then not ovulate as your body tries to but doesn't quite get there....you may then get another LH surge a few days later as your body tries again. This is why temping is so useful as once you see that temp rise you know you have definitely ovulated and why I use both opks and temping.

QueenofKelsingra · 21/01/2015 16:48

thank you Tessie that is all really helpful. I didn't have time to get into all of these options as I fell first month with my previous children. not sure if I could be diligent enough to temp though!!

accidentaldancer · 21/01/2015 19:33

Hi All,

Welcome newbies - this bus is really gathering pace.

CD10 here today and got a flashing smiley this morning - good news! Also started temping today, let's hope I can manage waking up at 6am on a consistent basis.

From then on today has been a nightmare as we've just been gazumped on a house we were buying :(

Was hoping to have a nice evening in and dtd and now we're both so stressed I'm not sure it will happen! Having an hour or so looking at rightmove and then will have a glass of wine and try and forget about it all for a while!

mummyofonesofar · 21/01/2015 20:33

Hi accidental sorry about the house! Not really a mood setter. Fx tomorrow is a better day and you can make good use of your fertile window. Chin up!

TakesTwoToTango · 21/01/2015 21:26

:( about the house accidental. At least it wasn't a non-flashing smiley, is you probably have a bit of time in hand if it turns out to be a complete passion killer for tonight.

CookieDough9 · 21/01/2015 21:41

Hi,

Can I join? We have decided to actively ttc #2. DD is 2 and took us 4 years to conceive. I have endo and after 2 laparoscopies, 6 months on zoladex to stop endo growth, we were referred for IVF. Went for initial scan and then appt with consultant, where we were told we could only have one round of IVF on nhs as I have low ovarian reserve and not to be too hopeful. Luckily DD was conceived naturally a couple of months later, a true blessing for us.

My cycle is usually 28 days. Had a period of 11 days in Dec, went to a&e and was given tranexamic acid to stop the bleeding. Had cycle of 42 days this month. CD2 today.
Will start charting and using opk to check I am ovulating. I couldn't bare to go through it all again, although it has been worth it.

Sorry for the long post

MaMaPo · 22/01/2015 02:44

Hello again everyone. Welcome to all the new names.

Tough couple of days here. I'm cd4 and we saw the GP this morning to kick start some investigations about why we're not having any luck. It's not a drastic situation but we've been trying for about 7 months (though I have short cycles) and I'm 36 so I don't want to waste time. I also have a daughter, aged 2, who was conceived in cycle 2.

I've mostly been completely fine about our ttcing until yesterday! I'm feeling a bit fragile. I've got a stack of pathology forms to get bloods done and an ultrasound referral. I also have a weird situation where I may have to stop ttc in a couple of cycles for about four months, due to family stuff, and that is upsetting me greatly. All in all, things feel a bit shit!

Anyway, onwards and upwards for February. A bfp would be more welcome than ever. Planning to dtd every bloody day from cd7 just to be certain we've thrown everything at it (ie sperm at egg) so expect an exhausted MaMaPo in the coming weeks!

Sorry for the downer post you lot. Let's all keep on keeping on. [Big fake grin]

accidentaldancer · 22/01/2015 06:28

Morning

MaMaPo- sorry to hear you are having a tough time. Really hope your efforts this month really pay off.

Thank you for positive words - really appreciated. Feel much more positive after a sleep and managed to dtd this morning. As MaMaPo said - onwards and upwards.

Have a good day all.

Rainy34 · 22/01/2015 07:01

Feeling a bit worried, on cd9 but CBFM still has me at low, i normally ovulate on cd13, i got a peak last month but so far nothing,

mummyofonesofar · 22/01/2015 08:18

Morning all - nearly Friday - Wahoo!!

Welcome Cookie, sorry to see last time was a hard time for you. What a lovely story that when all the odds were stacked against you, you conceived naturally in the end. Fx you will again soon.

MaMaPo I hope they don't find anything with the tests and get your BFP before you have to stop trying. DTD every day - jeesh! Don't know how you have the energy with a littleun running around. Well done you!

Rainy Sit tight, hope you get your surge in the next few days, are you temping aswell?

Night 3 days late now is it, any sign of AF?

Twinkletoes007 · 22/01/2015 08:26

Hello newcomers and special hello to Purdey - was following the jan thread and your posts really do make me laugh.

So concluded that as far as TMI and DH is concerned less is definitely more. Just before lights out I said id be waking up at 6.45 again to take my temperature. Response - You feeling ill? There's some Lemsip in the bathroom cabinet. Grrrr. Next I decided to tell him what EWCM was. Response - I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that. Night.

So, conclusion - I'm going to have to keep my craziness to myself (and you lovely ladies!

Have a good day all and keep positive Smile

nightandthelight · 22/01/2015 08:26

Still no sign :( have adopted a 'whatever will be, will be' attitude though and am no longer stressing about it so that's good :)

DizzyNorthernBird · 22/01/2015 08:36

night, poas. That's sure to make AF arrive.....

nightandthelight · 22/01/2015 08:41

I am starting to think that! Bet it will arrive five mins after I get a BFN. Problem is I would be happy to see AF but if I got a BFN and still no sign of AF I would feel a bit down. Does that make sense? Am going to give it to the weekend and then I will POSs as next week I might just give my GP a ring and that is bound to be the first thing they ask :)

nightandthelight · 22/01/2015 08:43

POAS not POSs!

Hairstylisttoboris · 22/01/2015 08:51

twinkle living the conversation between your DP and you! I haven't begun to explain any ttc stuff to DH. My extensive knowledge of CM would freak him out!

MaMaPo I'm also 36, with short cycles (23 days), and we've trying for 7 months. I don't have children if my own but I have DSC. I am Planning to go to the doctors soon too (although in not rsgistered with a gp yet). I read your posts with interest and empathy. Flowers for you - let me know how you get on and any advice you get. Are you in the UK?

mummyofonesofar · 22/01/2015 08:51

The law of sod, POAS, book a GP appt and then you are bound to see AF 20 mins before your appt is due!

Twinkle These men are funny aren't they! I am grateful that my OH understands my cycle. Got a text this morning after I got to work "Nearly at babymaking time" CD1 should be tomorrow or Saturday and my AF only lasts 3-4 days.

Will be good to see how much my temp drops, as only have been temping since half way through cycle. What is a normal drop? Post ovulation I have been 36.7 for 3 days, then 36.8 for 3 days & 36.9 this morning. how much should it drop by?

Hairstylisttoboris · 22/01/2015 08:52

Oh and CD7 here, operation shaggathon commences in the Boris household tonight. Aiming for EOD.
