Well I'm just waiting for AF to show up and the timings mean I miss January all together. Anyone out there who would like to join me in trying for a BFP in February? :)

CoffeeTwo, 31, ttc #2, cycle 6, BFP due 10th February.

Oops, after reading jsss's post I dug out the instructions for my opk's....it seems you're supposed to leave them for 30 mins to confirm a negative result! I've been throwing them away after 5 minute So! I hope this doesn't change anything Confused

Sweets27 · 20/01/2015 11:32

Thanks dizzy. I don't want to pile on the pressure just yet as this is our first month TTC, and I want to keep at least an external veneer of 'relaxedness' about it for as long as I can! I am getting a bit caught up in it all, and really keen to do everything we can to TTC, but that does make me a bit of a crazy lady in his eyes... although maybe just reminding him how horny he normally is would work for me like it did for you!

DizzyNorthernBird · 20/01/2015 11:37

Same here sweets! DP doesnt know I use opks or post on these forums, and although I think about ttc all the time I pretend I'm really cool about it! Which can be really difficult when there's babies on the telly, like on Broadchurch last night!

night the wetness is supposedly to do with the uterine lining breaking down ready for AF and the water is released first before the actual lining. Hence the wet feeling.

mummyofonesofar · 20/01/2015 11:38

night I think I will start it on Wednesday, got Zumba tonight so an hour of vigorous dancing should be enough to shift half a pound. How many nights a week do you need to run to stick to the programme?

Sweets27 · 20/01/2015 11:40

Haha, my OPKs and MN posting are unkown to my DH too - he has no idea I'm nowhere near as relaxed as he is! Blush

nightandthelight · 20/01/2015 11:49

Thanks for the reassurance Dizzy :)

mummy it's three times a week :)

DizzyNorthernBird · 20/01/2015 11:49

Dp is firmly under the impression that because his ex got up the duff first month trying on both occasions that he can do it with me too. Apparently she didn't do anything to help with ttc (that he knows about anyway) it just happened, which is why he's so laid back. I'm sure he thinks he's superman when it comes to making babies!

Me on the other hand, I'm 36 this year, have career aspirations to take into consideration and also I'd like to see some grand children growing up before I die too!!! Plus he doesn't know it but I'd also like a dc2 (he only wants one more so will cross that bridge when we come to it) so I've got an awful lot going on in my head and I'm keen to make this happen, like now!!! oh jeez I've officially turned into crazy lady Grin

ConceptionZilla · 20/01/2015 12:01

dizzy I could have written your post word for word, except I just turned 36. Oh and I'm a southerner (sorry).

Sweets27 · 20/01/2015 12:02

Hmm dizzy, based on your and my experience perhaps his ex wasn't really quite as laid back as he thought...?! It's hard managing expectations though - although you never know, maybe it really will happen for you this month Smile

ConceptionZilla · 20/01/2015 12:08

sweets the only reason I don't temp is because I don't want DH to know and I cant work out how to temp without him realising. When he has realised the extent of my craziness its been tough on him, so I'm dialing back the crazy to minimise any risk to his performance ability.

mummyofonesofar · 20/01/2015 12:59

A question for anyone - Did you go to see your GP before starting TTC? I went last summer to have my implant out but made it clear that we wouldn't be trying until New Year. They gave advice about taking folic acid for 3 months prior, which I have been doing. Should I go back before starting? Don't have any Long Term Conditions I know of but don't know what everyone else does. Would be my 2nd DC but DS was a 'surprise' so didn't have any pre-prenatal advice.

RhiannonElward · 20/01/2015 13:03

mummy I went the other day, got my folic acid and told doc was ttc and that period had been all over the place (mostly wanted to rule out false bfn and any other reasons to be worried about af being late and light). He gave me the folic acid and the pregnancy tests but no other tests, no bp check or anything, no advice. I think you can just get down to business but if you have any questions or concerns it makes sense to go and talk it through Smile.

RhiannonElward · 20/01/2015 13:04

haha I only got the one pregnancy test off him, I wasn't demanding recounts honestly!

nightandthelight · 20/01/2015 13:10

I went mummy twice. Once due to my heart condition and once just for general advice, useless both times. I get a lot of info in work about how important preconception check ups are but evidently my GP didn't get the memo!

mummyofonesofar · 20/01/2015 13:11

Haha! Thanks Rhi, I wasn't sure. Nothing particularly worried about, last pgI did have slightly low BP but don't think there is anything that can be done about it. Have always suffered with dizziness on standing up (with eyes blacking out for a few seconds) but when I once saw a patronising helpful GP about this, he just said "stand up slower".....

jss84 · 20/01/2015 13:15

dizzy I've been using the clear blue digital ones, and have re-read the instructions and you're right there's nothing about waiting four hours...must have read that on a forum somewhere! Mine seem to say the result will show in 3 mins and you should throw away after this...but they are the digital ones so prob a bit different

TarkaTheOtter · 20/01/2015 13:27

Can I join please? I'm 32 and trying to conceive dc3. I'm going to say cycle 1 as I've just had my first AF since before dc2 was born but we've been "trying" for a few months now really. Will be testing valentines day.

59sound · 20/01/2015 13:33

Hi all, can I join please? Have been on the January bus but sadly AF got me this morning so it's full steam ahead for February! We're ttc dc2 and have been using the cbafm for the last two months. Will be testing around 17th Feb.

mummyofonesofar · 20/01/2015 13:38

Welcome. Sorry about getting AF 59 welcome to a hopefully lucky bus Smile

jss84 · 20/01/2015 13:50

59sound excuse my ignorance, but what's the cbafm?!

mummyofonesofar · 20/01/2015 14:08

jss Clearblue Advanced Fertility Monitor I think, an alternative to OPKs.

Sweets27 · 20/01/2015 14:46

Welcome Tarka and 59sound!

Tarka, out of curiosity how old are your little ones now if you've only just got AF since DC2? Sounds like it'll be hard work with three of them close together! I am only ttc #1, but nieces and nephews all very close in age and it seems tough, although they are all adorable.

59sound · 20/01/2015 14:53

Thanks for the welcome! Going to read back on the thread this evening. Yep, CBAFM is the clearblue fertility monitor Smile

TarkaTheOtter · 20/01/2015 15:22

Sweets dc1 is nearly 3 and dc2 is just 1. I expect it'll be tough with three close together (fingers crossed) but would rather do the baby stage all together than recover and go through it all again. I never got used to sleep again after dc1 which made the nights seem easier with dc2!

Just checking in folks, and enjoying a bit of a giggle at all your stories. No news from this side of the internet walls alas. Sad
