Well as the title says :) I've chosen the worst time to get my act together and start my diet (again!!) I'm well overweight, in fact in classed as obese so I need to lose a tonne of weight. I know I need to be a healthy weight to conceive so there isn't much more of a motivator than the hope if a BFP :) I'm just counting calories until Christmas Eve (when we have our traditional Xmas eve meal of good old McDonalds!) and then back on track on the 27th when I will be returning to Slimming World.
If anyone fancies joining me, or even just to give me a kick up the arse, feel free :)

I would love to join you, I think if my mind is busy with calories points etc it won't be on ttc.

With your goal weight being so much think you might be better to have several goal posts to keep you on track otherwise it may seem too big. So a stone at a time to aid your motivation.

I would ideally like to lose two stone but would be very happy with one. So 1 stone is my first goal.

bluewisteria · 16/12/2014 16:57

hello spam and spaniel!
Yes, I'll join you!
I'm a member of Slimming World, lost nearly 2 stone, have 3 more to loose I guess, not sure of target yet, will see when I get there!
I have 2 DD's and would love to conceive another one in the next year or so.
I'm with relatives and friends from now until just after New Year, and in another part of the country to my gym! I'm going to have to be VERY careful I don't undo my good work!

jellypi3 · 16/12/2014 17:31

I'll join :) I'm trying to lose about 2 stone to get back to healthy, I am aiming to do it via excercise mainly, I did do the 5:2 diet for a few weeks, lost weight but also f**d up my periods so decided to stop for a bit. Starting jogging and I play football, so if I can eat healthily and up the jogging then hoping to tone up and shed the pounds!

itssangriaoclock · 16/12/2014 17:49

I'll join to please. Need inspiration though pls

Would like to lose a stone 1/2

CoffeeTwo · 16/12/2014 20:06

I'm in! I'm looking to join Slimming World in the new year. I know I should probably start now but we have many plans over Christmas where I'm being fed by others and I don't want to be a fussy bugger at this late stage.

winnie55 · 16/12/2014 22:03

Yes I will join you, I lost 5.5 stone with Slimming World a few years ago and about 10lbs has crept back on. Want to make sure I am back at my target soon so am nice and healthy. :) Good luck everyone. :)

21questions · 16/12/2014 22:18

Can I join please. Would like to lose 2 stone. I am not trying to hard before Xmas no point now but after Xmas that's it- time to get for focused.

Rufus200 · 16/12/2014 22:27

I've been dieting for the last 2 weeks and lost 5lbs. I just haven't eaten any carbs after 5pm. No potatoes, rice, pasta, chocolate, crisps or alcohol after 5pm. I have still been eating toast with Nutella for breakfast and whatever I wanted for lunch. Dinner is a protein and and large amount of vegetables. I don't feel hard done by because I eat whatever I want at lunchtime and if I want chocolate in the afternoon I just make sure it is before 5. It has worked for me but everyones metabolism is different.

itssangriaoclock · 16/12/2014 22:40

That's good to know thanks rufus.

bluewisteria · 18/12/2014 13:38

Urgh. I've just spent £14 on a bloody chicken salad!!! Trying to be healthy.... No dressing etc. but seriously, £14!!!

spamanderson · 18/12/2014 14:09

Hi everyone!!
Yeah spaniel my first goal is 3 stone 12 off. When I'm in diet mode I lose that first 3 stone really quick, then struggle with the rest, hence I lose about 4 stone then pile it all back on in the next year :/ I've just got to get my head in gear, get the weight off and keep it off for once! I'm currently at the heaviest I've ever been which is horrific :(

Can I join please? Need something to try to distract me from the ttc malarkey so will be a great chance to put my efforts into dropping a few pounds - also getting fed up/frustrated with ttc just makes me comfort eat, so need to get a handle on that! Blush

Ideally I'd like to lose1/2 stone to a stone. Use My Fitness Pal (although there's no chance of me filling it in for the next week, it would probably explode from sheer number of calories!) Really, I need to up my exercise and stop eating chocolate.
The no carbs after 5 is interesting Rufus, might try to start limiting that.

itssangriaoclock · 19/12/2014 20:33

My plan of action is to try and be careful now it's the lead up to Christmas. No worry for the main event then start as I mean to go on mon 29th as working new year. We can do this girls.

Know what you mean about comfort eating all to well, esp as I tend to bake cakes and cook when I'm stressed. Need to walk the dog instead.

Let's raise a carrot stick (lol) to dropping pounds and lots of BFP.

bluewisteria · 19/12/2014 20:43

Hi sangria,
At my slimming world group we always make soups to eat over christmas for non indulgent meals. So roasting ordering veg with fry light rather than oil, herbs and spices, then blending! A big stock pot means yours always tuck in to as much as you want whilst peckish without feeling guilty!

bluewisteria · 19/12/2014 20:43
  • roasting or frying
itssangriaoclock · 19/12/2014 21:52

Good idea thank you blue

Jenjenwoo · 20/12/2014 09:30

Hi, I can join too?
I desperately need to lose weight. I have pcos and have been trying ttc'ing for the last 2 years. We was referred to out local infertility specialist august but they wouldn't treat us until I got my BMI down to below 30, it is roughly 39 at the mo. I started to eat healthier and get a bit more active and fell pregnant naturally in sept but sadly I had a mc at 8 weeks. I have since then slowed down and gone back to my lazy eating habits but by some miracle I am now 4/5 weeks pregnant but I know I need to get healthy and lose weight to reduce my risk of all sorts of horrible outcomes for me and the baby - if it sticks this time. So I'm planning on very health eating rather than restricting calories. I'm going to try to stick to fresh veg and healthy proteins for lunch and dinner and whole wheat cereals and dairy for breakfast with fruit so that I am not missing out on vitamins and minerals from certain food groups . Any advice would be greatly welcome. I feel like I'm closing the stable door after the horse has bolted!!

camembertlover · 20/12/2014 09:39

Can I join too? I need to lose 20kg which I think is around 50lbs and we have been ttc for a few months now and think I need to eat better before getting pregnant as my gp keeps telling me how much harder it will be to lose weight once the baby is here any tips gratefully received as I am so bad at exercise and my choc habit is getting a bit out of control eek

bluewisteria · 20/12/2014 11:42

Hi ladies, nice to meet you!!

I can't recommend Slimming World enough- it really helps to have group support, and the emphasis is to eat large amounts of the right things- you will never go hungry!

It is also great as you can carry on whilst pregnant! Even if you don't loose very much, it will keep you in an even keel of healthy mindful eating.

Jen I've just got my faint BFP a few days before AF due. I've had 6 early mc's and two healthy DD's but I understand how nerve wracking it is!

I'm carrying in with Slimming World whilst pregnant. Honestly, check out your local groups, if you have a few near you then try out different ones, some groups have a real buzz about them and are very supportive. It is surprising how some things are really laden with fats and others aren't.

Jenjenwoo · 20/12/2014 16:51

Hi bluewisteria,

Congratulations on your BFP. I'm so soryy to hear you've had 6 early mc's, I don't know how you've coped. I've only had one and it was awful. I'm hoping these one's are sticky beans for both of us!

I was thinking about slimming world but I have been slight put off by one I used to go to - the women that ran it drove me mad she was so over the top condescending and patronising and as much as I am totally for support and encouragement it was a bit too much as most the women that went spoke at length about relationship issues and family deaths and we once spent 30 mins listening to women cry about how she has over eaten for the last 3 years because her dog died and she's not sure if to get another one!!
I did really enjoy the recipes and weigh ins though so I should really look at joining again especially now we've moved villages.

Have you tried the slimming world butter chicken curry ?? I used to live off it, one of the nicest curries I've ever had.

I'm off to dust off my recipes books xx

bluewisteria · 20/12/2014 17:09

Hi Jen,
Ooh yes, I love the SW curry book!! It's heaven!

I think trying different groups is definitely a good call. The first one I joined was brilliant, then we moved and the second was dreadful so I quit. We have since moved again and my new group is amazing!!! There are moments of back stories and emotional explanations as to why people have struggled with weight, but nothing too extreme Grin. Generally they are a real laugh and incredibly supportive.

How many groups do you have access to? You might be able to trial them!

I don't think it matters numbers with mc's, it kinda takes away the romantic ideas of having children! Mine were all prior to my first DD. I was an utter wreck in my pregnancy with her. With my second I was in shock as she just happened! But this time I'm determined to relax and enjoy it once I get to 12 weeks

bluewisteria · 20/12/2014 17:11

Btw, how amazing you conceived twice naturally xxx

MrsDee01 · 20/12/2014 22:07

Hiya ladies
I lost 5 stone and got my BFP at the beginning of this month after TTC for 2 years . I used the app myfitness pal . Cut out all pop even the diet stuff :( get low on your carbs but still eat complex ones as they will help fill you up . I also tried juicing as I was struggling to get in my 5 a day . I started at 18 stone 18 months ago , pretty much the day I got my BMI to 30 I got pregnant . I just keep thinking how much better my pregnancy would be if I was healthier plus I didn't want any comments from the midwife I have had those for most of my life . Good luck everyone and remember you aren't fat you have fat and fat can be lost xxx

Pigriver · 20/12/2014 23:58

I'd like to join too. I have had an amazing year. Got engaged last Christmas and married in June. Spent 3 weeks in summer on honeymoon and have been living it up ever since. Sadly that means I have gained a stone in weight. We have been TTC since may so I'd really like to clean my act up for the new year.
I plan on going to the gym 3 times a week and walking to work twice a week. I am no good at calorie counting and hate being hungry. I don't drink alcohol or fizzy pop but will cut down choc and crisps.

MrsG12345 · 21/12/2014 07:50

I'd really like to join too please. We've been ttc for a year now and I've just worked out my bmi as 29.8. I'm the heaviest I've ever been which isn't a good feeling. Think I'll enjoy myself until Christmas and then after I'll get my arse into gear! We're moving house and have lots of work to do to it so hopefully that will help in terms of the exercise. I've got such a sweet tooth which is my biggest downfall. Fingers crossed we can all lose weight and get pregnant soon! X
