AF arrived this morning, CD34. Probably won't be a +ive november for me either as DH is going away for 2 months sometime later this month, so he probably won't be here for my fertile window, but ya never know (in the army the dates for things change all the time, so gotta keep hoping). Will keep using my Persona this month just in case we can fit one or two BDs in at the right time.

MrsMcJnr · 17/10/2006 15:43

Hello, I am here, just my first chance to post today. How are you all? I am CD12 and should OV on Monday CD16 so it is coming up to crucial BDing time for me and DH anyone at the same stage in their cycle as me?

Welcome AnguaVU - stay with us on here until AF arrives, you'll be lonely on another thread . Apart from Folic acid, what do you plan to do? some of us record our temps, CM & CP, cut down/cut out booze, smoking and refined sugar and carbs. Some of us take various herbal supplements to correct things that happen in our cycles like late OV, short LPs or insufficient CM. Sorry never had an implant but was on the pill for 18 years.

Personally, I found starting to chart my BBT, CM & CP the most enlightening when I started TTC. All sounds daunting but if you want to give it a go, there are loads of us on here who'll be more than happy to help you!

Naughty Natty strikes again! I worry that we are not BDing enough all the time. I look back at my whole cycle and see 5 or 6 and that's it, looks pitiful! You certainly sound like you are fitting in more action than us!
Hi girls

Hello Endless nice to be missed! When do you OV? CD15 BD sounds like a good idea to me!

Hello Bodkin - have you packed for the weekend yet? I have read about the alkaline environment too and hear what you say about the grapefruit juice. I was reading that acidic foods like dairy and animal products, citrus fruit and cereals should be minimised and things like vegetables(lightly steamed are better than raw)and cerealgrasses should be maximised. I figure that if I have one small glass of grapefruit juice pre OV it should be ok as it does seem to work on my CM but it is worth thinking about.

Hi Chickenpiescheeky - love you descriptions! I have to say, my CM does not seem to be consistent from cycle to cycle and so does not give me much info about where I am in my cycle yet. I have read that you should take angus cactus with caution and only after advice.

Sorry to hear that DD1 sort of a good thing that work took your mind off things a bit. Glad you have seen a silver lining! It'll be OV time again before you know it.

Thanks for the website Minshu, will have a look. Wishing you lots of luck this cycle, think you OV around the same time as me (I should be Mon) so depending on your normal LP (mine's 10 days) we could wait the 2ww out together!

Hello Desperate - hope for your sake that you don't have to join us but you know you'll be warmly received if you do Fingers crossed for you.

Hello Babymad - posted for you on Spotters thread.

Hello to all the other Nov ladies, may luck be yours this cycle!

RachelRose · 17/10/2006 15:45

Hi all,

Not been on for a while and things move pretty quick here!

Hi Bodkin, think you are right about being in the same boat. How do you think you DD would cope with another one being around? I think my DS would have his nose put well out of joint as his bottom lip comes out if I so much as look at a friends new baby. He's being an absolute angel though at the moment so I'm not going to complain .

CD5 for me - just got my grapefrit juice - YUM!! I love it - My trouble will be keeping to the one glass a day . Hope its going to work wonders this month. Taking EPO as well. Can I just check that you are only meant to take this up to OV?

MrsMcJnr · 17/10/2006 15:50

Hello RachelRose - thanks for lovely lunch!

EPO up until OV (though Flax seed oil is meant to be as good as EPO and can be taken the whole cycle, has other good properties too but not sure it is as good for CM).

Don't drink too much grapefruit juice a day - see Bodkin's very good point about the need for an alkali and not an acid environment!

rubles · 17/10/2006 15:55

Sorry I've not been on for ages - the thread just moves far, far too fast for me to keep up.

Natty - if you are still trying next month, would it not be possible to pin-point the fertile week and say to dh to only go out one night on that week and you forego one or two gym sessions? Just an idea - although by the sounds of it you are having plenty of sex so it's probably not necessary.

I have got the +ve on my OPK today so we shall be at it. Am CD13 so again will be ovulating on CD14 - anyone the same?

RachelRose · 17/10/2006 15:56

Thanks for the info MrsMcj - I'll keep it the grapefruit juice as a breakfast treat then!

Mmmm, lunch was yummy! Thanks!!

Natty1806 · 17/10/2006 15:57

I can only manage 100ml of the g juice is this enough? it is so horrible, i have to hold my nose and drink it down.

Natty1806 · 17/10/2006 15:59

Thanks Rubles for the idea but last month when we were told what days to bd on, OH ignored my ples and we only managed it 1 once during the fertile time so i am trying to keep quiet at the moment. x

MrsMcJnr · 17/10/2006 16:37

Hi Rubles good luck with the BDing.

Natty - you should try the grapefruit juice with a shot of wheatgrass, now THAT is disgusting

Natty1806 · 17/10/2006 18:03

Yesterday i tried sugar stir in it and that didn't work, OH had some of it today for me, and said i should try it with lemonade - would it still work?

Bodkin · 17/10/2006 23:21

Hey all - just having a frantic posting session while DP down t'pub. Once you start, you just can't stop!

RachelRose - DD is exactly the same - madly jealous if I go anywhere near a baby (and sometimes gives them a boff on the head with a nearby toy for good measure) But I hope that 9 months should be enough time to get her head around it - plus she'll be at preschool by then , so I would have mornings free to get plenty of milky baby cuddles in (sorry, v. broody tonight )

Bizarrely, even though I am only CD 6, seem to have EWCM, so what the hell is going on? Could be the worlds shortest cycle this month! Poor DP is going to get ravaged when he gets home from pub!

Natty, I worry all the time that we're not getting enough BDing in. Both freelance, and tend to work in the evenings, so both shattered by bedtime, and DD prevents any a.m. action! Mind you, DD was a one-shot wonder (first attempt and only one BD!) so there's hope for us all...

AnguaVonUberwald · 18/10/2006 09:45

Thank you Mrsmcjnr.

What do BBT, CM and CP mean? Definitly want to give it all a go, just have no idea what it all is or how to do it.

Feel very stupid as 31, so should have some clue about what I am doing.

MrsMcJnr · 18/10/2006 11:29

Morning Ladies!

Angua - don't feel stupid, until 5 months ago, I did not have a clue about any of this stuff and I am 33 in a couple of months. It is just something that you don't think about until you need to

BBT = Basal Body Temperature - taken first thing in the morning, before you even get out of bed and after no less than 3 hours continuous sleep. Preferably taken at the same time every day (though you can adjust up by.5C for every 30 mins late and down by .5C for every 30 mins early.)Preferably temp taken under the tongue (ears are no good apparently and you can do it other ways but that's up to you!)

CM = Cervical Mucus - watching the consistency of this as your cycle develops is a really good way to assess when you are fertile. The pattern is meant to be menses, then dry then sticky, then creamy/lotiony and then clear and lubricative like egg white. That is the most fertile and indicates your best time to BD. There are exceptions to the rule but that is the text book cycle.

CP = Cervical Position. It is optional to check
this when charting BBT and CM but if you do, you should notice that the tip of the cervix will feel firm (like a nose) and be low down pre OV and after it, then progress higher and get softer until the tip feels like the inside of a cheek around OV. Some also note whether or not the cervix is open or closed but I am not very good at assessing that

Really hope that helps you Have I missed anything ladies?

Hello Bodkin I read in Healthy magazine that visualising yourself as a mother has helped some women to conceive and that another tactic is to spend time with pregnant women and new born
babies, the idea being that honing the nurturing instincts helps you psychologically to get past certain barriers! I would like a milky baby cuddle too and might start sidling up to pregnant women in the street! Hope you all know that I was joking!!

My nephew was 2.5 when my second nephew was born , he adores him, protects him and is proud of "his" baby.

Not sure what is going on with your EWCM. I habe woken up with the best EWCM I have had. Sorry if TMI but it's "spink" was about 2 inches not very impressive if the photo in TW's book is anything to go by! I am CD13 and expect to OV CD16 - 18, opks are negative at the mo as I'd expect but the EWCM is definatley an improvement.

Silly question but if you BD during your fertile time before OV, where do you "store" the sperm ready to fertilise the egg? in the Fallopian tube? or the cervix?

The article also said that saving sex up for your fertile period is a definite no-no as waiting may produce more sperm but the quality won't be as high. It suggested having sex every other day so sperm is fresh and raring to go!

How everyone else today? anyone around OV?

MrsMcJnr · 18/10/2006 11:32

Sorry paragraph starting "Not sure.." was from Bodkin's post and isn't about me, I'd just copied and pasted to answer it

MrsMcJnr · 18/10/2006 11:33

Scrap that, it was me!? what is wrong with me today! really sorry.

AnguaVonUberwald · 18/10/2006 11:40

Thankyou very much MrsMcJnr. I feel a bit like I am entering a foreign country, and really appreciate the map. .

Will get charting!

rubles · 18/10/2006 12:58

MrsMc, I remember reading on the internet that the sperm is stored in the CM in the cervix, and it releases over time into the uterus. I thought that was amazing.
I think that thing about saving the sperm up is the equivalent of what they say about sperm testing - you have to have not ejaculated in the last 5 days, but they like you to not have left it much longer than that (can't remember the exact guidelines, they are somewhere at home).

I am definitely ovulating today because I had the + on the OPK yesterday and today had a big temp drop. This means that I should strictly still be on the October thread because AF is due on October 31st.

endlesslove · 18/10/2006 13:25

Hi there.

I have also wondered where the sperm is stored! The body is so amazing, how it works etc.

I am on CD16 today and since this cycle started I have baby danced on CD10, CD12, CD15 and CD16. Am due to ovulate around CD18 so I am getting to the nitty gritty part of the cycle now! The cycles go soooo quickly!

Do you think I am over baby dancing? Or do you think I should do more?

Will anyone be by cycle buddy?

Well I have a curtain man coming round tonight to measure up for some curtains. How boring! But I'm cooking stew and dumplings tonight so that can simmer whilst I deal with the curtains! My life is so exciting!

Good luck everyone xx

saf1 · 18/10/2006 13:50

Hi all,

Now that I've worked out wot CD means I am now on CD 8 and BD last night just cos we felt like it

I'm not sure that I ov last month because we BD sooo much {shock] but still AF arrived.

Anyway went to see homeopath on Monday mainly for DD2 skin as she has had severe exzema (can NEVER spell this!!) since she was about 2 weeks old, so we've been seeing her for a long time (dd2 is now 21mths) ANYWAY... she gave me a remedy whcih I can't remember the name of just to remind my body that I am now ready to get pregnant. I have also got another appt in Dec with her so if not preggers by then hopefully we'll look into something else.
I am considering reflexology as I had this when pregnant with DD1 & DD2 so might help to conceive.
Positive energy to you all.

I also love Tesco's own pure grapefruit juice it's quite nice.

Good luck all

MrsMcJnr · 18/10/2006 14:58

Hey Rubles - thanks for the info. Sorry if this is a bit graphic but I was beginning to get worried that if I check my CP, I might be distrubing the sperm supplies I have been building up but if they are already inside the cervix, they should be safe! Best of luck this cycle, have you been doing lots of BDing? Stay with us on this thread in the hope that AF is very, very late (around 9 months or so!)

Hi Saf1 - it's just sods law that even if you BD every day in the cycle and did OV and did everything you could do, there is still not a 100% rate of success. Would be really interested to hear what the remedy you were given was.

Hello Endless - Sounds to me like you have got some good BDing in there but keep on going until CD19 if you Ov CD18 if you can just for good measure! I'm not too far away from you, I should OV on Monday.

NattyandThomasandBump · 18/10/2006 16:54

hi guys just dropping in to see how everyone is

love and babydust to all

N&T&B

ready4motherhood · 18/10/2006 18:56

Evening everyone... Just a couple of things, cos catching up with all the posts has got my mind going at 100mph

  1. Grapefruit juice -there seems to be a fine line. How much should I be drinking?? 250ml? Is that too much? And when? All through my cycle or just for a few days?? I actually quite like it.
  1. Not sure if you can overdo the BDing - But is it Quality not Quantity?? Was thinking - What positions are best for TTC when BDing? I am sure this has been discussed before, but I'm relatively new to MN. I read that the missionary was the best, but being honest, it's not my favourite

Bestfriends are coming to stay this weekend, with their DD, she's just turned 1. Looking forward to it as we haven't seen them for a few months, and she will have changed so much. But we weren't trying last time I saw her, It's going to be a total BROOD FEST. How will I cope?

Babydust for all!!

x

RachelRose · 18/10/2006 21:23

Hi everyone - agree with you Saf1, tesco's own grapefruit juice is good.

Ready4motherhood - I'm not sure about the grapefrui juice question, but I have about 250ml, but again I like it so thats easy. I've heard that doggy style BD is the best! Hope thats your favourite!

As for me not much is going on, CD6 and have ordered my pre-seed. I hope it'll be with me tomorrow. My temping is also going well - as in I'm at least remembering to do it. Temps are hovering between 36.6 and 36.8 for the last 6 days. I get some OV tests free as well with my pre-seed from Access Diagnostics so will give those a bash, maybe from CD10 to CD20 and see if I get a positive OPK this month - Hope SO!!!!

Good luck Endless and Rubles - interesting times for you both!!

ready4motherhood · 18/10/2006 21:50

RachelRose - thanks for the info. Where's the best place to get a glass thermometer? do they sell them in boots?? thinking i might start temping next month if necessary.

ready4motherhood · 18/10/2006 21:52

RachelRose - Good luck with the pre-seed and the ov tests. Fingers crossed for you.

RachelRose · 18/10/2006 22:01

Hi ready4motherhood - I got my thermometer at boots, its was the boots own fertility one. It was £12 and you got a little book with it to record your temps. It was probably a bit of a waste of money as I think I was paying a lot for the book and the nice black cover it came in!! But, it does the trick.

One bad thing with it is is doesn't have a light so I have to use the light from my mobile phone to read it. But a good thing is that it doesn't beep so I don't wake my DH up.

Phew - That was the longest review I've ever done and probably ever will do on a thermometer! (Wish I could remember how to spell it too )
