TTC for the first time - anyone else?

Hi all. I'm a newbie to Mumsnet. TTC for the first time - it's all new!

DH and I have decided to 'take the plunge' and TTC#1. I'm 27 and DH is 31.

It's our first month of trying.

Anyone else just starting out? Would be great to hear from anyone in the same boat and share along the way.

Also a newbie here and will be TTC #1 after I've had my mirena coil removed. Making the appointment tomorrow :D

Haven't been off BC since I was 16 (now 23) so I guess I'm a little nervous that it might not happen! OH is convinced it won't take long for a BFP!

Excited, nervous, scared and happy all rolled into one!

batfish · 19/10/2014 18:46

Hi chubbocat and dillydollydarling, good luck to you both! Smile

batfish · 19/10/2014 18:49

Dillydollydarling I was on the pill from being 16 and came off it when I was 30 and I was really surprised that my periods went right back to normal! I went back on it again though after 6 months and now I've just come off again to TTC - this is my first cycle off the pill so I'm hoping I go back to normal again! I am on CD19 so I will find out in a week and a half I guess whether I am having a regular cycle. Hope yours is normal quickly!

dillydollydarling · 19/10/2014 20:21

I can't remember what my normal periods were like! Apart from irregular and heavy lol I was on the pill for 7 years and recently had the coil fitted. Hopefully they will get back to 'normal' quickly! Good luck with TTC:)

crazypuglady · 20/10/2014 12:10

Well that's it, the BC pills are out, the folic acid and iron are in. Now waiting to see how quickly my cycles go back to normal. I'm hoping they go to a new normal that doesn't involve pain Grin

Mylittlepony86 · 20/10/2014 13:27

Hi ladies,
I came off my pill (yasmin) last month, I was on it for 10 years. Iv had cramps on my left side, lost my appetite, sore boobs, and no AF apart from my withdrawal bleed which was 35 days ago. Anyone having cramping and tender boobs? I did poas but bfn a few days ago.

batfish · 20/10/2014 16:19

I've had really sore nipples today and yesterday which is unusual - was hoping it relates to ovulation so I can be sure it is actually happening after the pill - and I googled and apparently it does indicate that ovulation has happened so that's good news, might mean I'm in a normal cycle straight away!

Blimeygirl · 23/10/2014 18:48

Well I'm definitely out this month as AF has reared her ugly (and incredibly painful!) head. Also think we will leave it til December as then I can guarantee he will be around. Hoping for some BFPs for others soon! Xxx

batfish · 23/10/2014 19:15

Hope you are out of pain soon Blimeygirl! Hoping AF arrive for me in a week as then I will be reassured that my cycle is normal and we can get on with TTC seeing as I can be sure I would get mat leave!

Any updates from anyone else?

Lewaney3 · 24/10/2014 00:39

Hi everyone,

Glad to see a thread for all us newbies/ttc1 :) I'm 24 ttc with DH who is also 24 :) I've never used the pill etc so my cycles are pretty regular.

I'm pretty unsure of everything, as silly as it may sound I'm not too clued about the scientific part if it all eg hormones/ovulating and all the associated products and apps. If anyone has any good tips, please do share minus the obvious DTD hehe hoping for BFP soon for us all!:)

batfish · 25/10/2014 14:25

Well I knew absolutely nothing about anything a few weeks ago but the basics I have learned are.....

Your cycle starts on the first day of your period
Ovulation happens halfway through your cycle (for most people)
You can get pregnant by having sex in the days before ovulation and on the day of ovulation - sperm can live in the body for up to 5 days waiting for the egg
There are ways you can tell when you are ovulating - one of the signs is egg white cervical mucus (called that because it is egg white texture) and also something to do with temperature but I don't know about that bit!
You should be having sex every 2-3 days if you're TTC

And that's all I know! There are a lot of people on here who know a lot of stuff though so I'm sure you will find some good info. Good luck!!

Lewaney3 · 25/10/2014 23:08

Thanks for sharing that batfish :)

Just waiting patiently for AF to go away so I can get started!!

Hoping some people in this thread will have good news/updates! :)

Blimeygirl · 15/11/2014 20:19

Are people still lurking on here? Just wanting to rant a bit as I'm sad Hmm dh said we can proper get on it next month so checked my ovulation/period checker app and will be ovulating around the 10th so asked what he is working that week and he is away working that week!

Gutted Hmm guess it will be January then. Anyone got some positive news for us?

Xxx

Lewaney3 · 18/11/2014 04:06

Hi guys!

I am aware it's 4am but I just can't wait to share my news...BFP using two tests. AF was due yesterday had slight cramp which went away after an hour and thought nothing of it until I was lying in bed with DH tonight! Cue mad dash to asda at 2am.

I just can't believe it's happened. I feel slightly overwhelmed... Do I contact the GP? Or wait until a certain time has passed? Thank you guys and good luck to you all!

DogOnALeash · 18/11/2014 05:57

Congratulations Lewaney!! Flowers that's absolutely fab news!

I would make an appointment with the GP for a weeks time, and then if anything happens (God forbid!) in that week you still have the GP appointment to go to.
I didn't even bother making an appointment with the GP and then had my early mc but as I did a pg test after I stopped bleeding and it was neg I figured everything was out and didn't need to go.

Excellent news tho very happy for you :)

I'm on cd32, still no sign of AF but I'm just not feeling lucky this month.
This thread went very quiet, how is everyone else doing??

Lewaney3 · 21/11/2014 03:13

Thank you dogsonaleash very kind of you. Struggling to keep my news to myself until 12 weeks.

Hoping for a big BFP for everyone's :)

Hey
We are also ttc #1 I am 30 and my partner is 33, we have taken this long because I moved here to Sweden from the UK 5 years ago but it has taken this long to get settled with a good job and just feeling secure.
I came off the pill back in may and since then have had four cycles
1 = 42 days
2 = 50 days (this one was painfull :()
3= 30 days
4 = 28 days

I had finally hoped that they were pretty regular 28-32 days was mine before. However now I am on day 36 :( I have taken 2 tests one last Sunday morning and again this morning both BFN :(
I have had no cramps none of the signs my period is coming

It seems like everyone around me is annoucing they are having babies and it is just making me feel useless :(
