TTC for the first time - anyone else?

innersanctum · 28/09/2014 17:15

Hi all. I'm a newbie to Mumsnet. TTC for the first time - it's all new!

DH and I have decided to 'take the plunge' and TTC#1. I'm 27 and DH is 31.

It's our first month of trying.

Anyone else just starting out? Would be great to hear from anyone in the same boat and share along the way.

Really excited for you DogOnALeash!

Are you going to do another one in a couple of days? Keep us posted!

I'm not holding out for a bfp this month. I'm 9DPO. After a few days of really sore boobs, I've come down with a horrendous cold, so thinking that's just down to my lymph nodes more than anything else (along with my swollen glands). At least once AF starts, it'll be on to round two!!

Ohhhh keep us in the loop DogOnALeash! Exciting timesSmile
I am not hopeful for BFP this month I think my cycle is still all over the shop from being on the pill too long.

I have also had a horrendous cold, now I just seem to be cramping Confused

DogOnALeash · 13/10/2014 15:53

Thanks inner and kirsty I am going to do another in a couple of days and then a digital one so I can see the words 'pregnant'...it's taking a bit to sink in but I suppose I shouldn't really let it sink in until the safe time is over.

This cold seems to be doing to rounds, I've managed to escape with just a sore throat but the whole family has been thrown down by this god awful thing, you can just tell winter is well and truly on it's way!

kirsty is this your first month off the pill? If you have been on it ages then it probably will take a while to settle, even though some say otherwise, I gave myself 3 cycles off the pill to adjust before TTC and even then before that I hadn't been on it for very long, DH liked to used condoms as they were cleaner and I must admit I did too!

batfish · 13/10/2014 16:23

Oh wow possibly 2 BFPs! Hopefully we are a lucky bunch Smile

I don't want to be taking things easy this month, I'm feeling left out! It seems silly to try hard to get pregnant this month when it would mean missing out on maternity pay but the next month is going to go by soooooo slowly when I had been excited about TTC this month! Hubby seems a bit disappointed too, not sure if he is looking forward to us starting a family or just starting to shag a lot more Shock

Kirstywa1 · 13/10/2014 17:00

I have been off the pill a couple months now - I am so impatient! Grin

tootssw17 · 15/10/2014 13:35

I am still waiting for af - stopped pill and according to ovia I am cycle day 43 after a quick short withdrawl bleed.

Waiting to kick off properly is boring but getting dtd practice in and joining slimming world this eve for the first time as bmi is 26 and want to be 24 ideally to ensure I stay healthy if I get a bfp one day. Also I need something to distract my obsession with wanting to have a baby!

Anyway what is the rumour that pregnacare conception vitamins delays af? Have read this a few times now and getting worried that my must start conception vitamins is actually stopping af visit.

Any thoughts on this? Struggled to find any threads on it by searching ...

Stats- toots,31 ,ttc #1 , cycle 0 ( can't even say cycle 1 yet as no proper af to date!)

batfish · 15/10/2014 16:20

I haven't heard of vitamins delaying AF but then I haven't heard of a lot of things! Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along soon Smile

Delaying our proper TTC by a month doesn't seem to be stopping me searching for signs of ovulation! If I was lucky enough to get straight back into a normal cycle after the pill then I would be ovulating today but who knows!

innersanctum · 15/10/2014 19:39

AF turned up today, so I'm fully focused on round two now! Considering I've got an irregular cycle, think DH and I need to DTD a lot more this month to cover potential ovulating time. I'm not complaining!

Hi toots. I read some threads on Pregnacare Conception having some side effects before I started taking it. Although couldn't find anything proven, just anecdotal, so I decided to carry on taking it. I've never been on the pill, but it hasn't interfered with my cycle!

tootssw17 · 16/10/2014 11:37

Well my af must have felt guilty about me talking about her absence... And today on cd 44 she appears to have started her entrance! Am soooo happy! Except that I had booked a weekend break in Cambridge this weekend and now no dtd can happen but will take that given now I am
Officially on cd 1 on cycle 1!

Oh and I joined slimming world last night and got the shock of my life when I weighed in- heaviest I have ever been and 1.5st more than November last year! Healthy eating begins!

How are all the other newbies?

DogOnALeash · 16/10/2014 20:21

Sorry for AF arriving innersanctum and toots, good to know you can get going now :)

I did another test and got another faint bfp but then did a CB digi and got BFN!?! Totally confused the hell outta me so I'm waiting until Saturday to do another one and hopefully by then I'll get a clear result.
Do you reckon maybe that the CB Digi just wasn't sensitive enough? I didn't do with FMU either so maybe that was it too.
Still no AF and 5 days late so only good signs really. Although I am getting cramps, which I've read is a symptom of pg but I hate feeling like AF is going to show up any minute and if that stays all 40 weeks then holy crap this is gunna suck lol

crazypuglady · 16/10/2014 20:29

I'm hoping to be joining you all on Saturday. I'm coming off the pill after 10 long years. DH is worrying, thinking it will happen straight away and panicking that we need to save some more money first. Most of the time he ignores his head and goes with his heart and says 'lets do it' but then he has a wobble so I've left the ball in his court. Last pill is tomorrow night, after that if he wants to wait then contraception is his responsibility while I try to get my body back into some normal rhythm.

DogOnALeash I heard the CBDs are less sensitive than the normal tests so maybe try again in a couple of days with FMU. The tests you posted definitely do have lines on them though so I'm going with congratulations Grin

Good luck this month to everyone else.

batfish · 16/10/2014 22:10

Yay to those who have AF and wanted it!

How annoying for you DogOnALeash - no fun being in limbo! Really hope you get a clear answer soon and even more hope that answer is a BFP!

Hi crazypuglady exciting for you that you may be TTC soon! They say that you can never really be ready for a baby - and that if everyone waited until they were ready then there would be no babies! So hopefully your hubby will not worry about the finances too much, some people have hardly anything and manage - I know you need to buy a lot of gear for babies but then my hope is that we will save loads of dosh on going out for dinner and wine and buying new clothes for aforementioned dinner and wine!

So I have a question - does ovulation have to be accompanied by egg white CM? Still can't believe it's suddenly become acceptable to discuss bodily fluids with strangers on the internet Or can you ovulate and not have any? I'm just trying to get an idea of whether I'm ovulating so I know what to look for in future months. I am on CD16 so if I was straight back into a normal cycle after the pill (wishful thinking) then I would have ovulated yesterday. So either I haven't yet, which is entirely possible, or I have and didn't see any signs. With us all being newbies I don't know whether anyone will have an answer but feel free to share your mucusy knowledge!

tootssw17 · 16/10/2014 23:10

Batfish. - I can't believe this board is technically full of women telling each other how much sex they are getting/ planning and that this evening after reading this board - I am aware of several ladies getting down and dirty- and I don't even know them!

Hurumph. Forgot how much pain and cramping I get with af. Hmm

TiggeryBear · 17/10/2014 00:58

Hi all!
Thinking about ttc#1 following early miscarriage back in August (bfp was a total surprise though as not having been ttc), but feeling apprehensive as I'm not sure if I can go through all that again. OH was great, supportive but I could tell that he didn't really "get" my pain as I guess that he didn't really have a chance to get used to the idea. Not sure. I guess that I'm just looking for reassurance that I'm overreacting, making a mountain out of a molehill. Good luck to all of you hoping for a bfp this month Smile

batfish · 17/10/2014 07:53

Aww TiggeryBear you're not overreacting at all! I can't imagine the pain of mc and just hope I never have to - but have a couple of close friends who have had them, one of them had 3 in a year and is now 6 months pregnant with a healthy baby - but I know the agony she goes through as she is still terrified even though all of her mc were early on. Can totally understand you being scared of putting yourself through any pain again but hopefully this time you will be absolutely fine, just go for it and then when you get your BFP take each day at a time, lots of luck and hugs to you.

DogOnALeash · 17/10/2014 08:58

And I'm out this month ladies.

Cramping turned into AF arriving this morning so it looks like an early mc for me. Bit sad but way too good to be true that I would get pregnant on our first try!

God haven't had cramps like this since before I went on the pill, now I remember why I went on the pill!

Mumwannabe82 · 17/10/2014 09:53

Sorry to hear that dogonaleash but if its a really early mc which it looks like it was then at least you can take the comfort that you can get pregnant xxx

innersanctum · 17/10/2014 10:48

Sorry to hear that DogOnALeash :( Do you think you'll try again this cycle?

OP posts:
Blimeygirl · 17/10/2014 10:58

Bummer Dogonaleash gutted for you :( back on it next month? I think there will be a lot of us properly trying next cycle so lots of fingers crossed xxx

DogOnALeash · 17/10/2014 13:27

Yeah we will be trying again this month :)

DH definitely knows I'm sad because we were just out shopping and I normally coo at all the little babies but today I just kept my head down...mad I was only 4 weeks it's ridiculous how attached you can get to something so quickly!

And you are right Mumwannabe I am taking comfort in the fact that I can get pregnant as I have something called Prolactinoma which can cause infertility Confused so definitely glad!!

When is everyone else going to be ready to start? I'm gunna assume I'm good to go in a week lol

Blimeygirl · 17/10/2014 14:57

See now I just gotta rage... Just spoke to husband and he has to take 8 weeks holiday between now and Christmas (don't have a clue how it's that much!) so I said well we can stay home and dtd lots! He now says it has to be December at the earliest ttc unless I don't want him around much when the baby is born as he will be workingHmm but then said it's up to me. Grrrg don't know what to do as he's about to get a promotion so will be home more so now don't know what to do.

Sorry it was a bit of a rant! Xx

DogOnALeash · 17/10/2014 15:14

Oh Blimey that's a tough one.

Is he away from home due to work a lot then?
If he is about to get a promotion then surely it won't take 9 months for it to change so that he is home more?
Hopefully it's not just a delay tactic because he's not ready yet Confused my DH was a bit like that, found an excuse to delay for about 6 months before finally agreeing

Blimeygirl · 17/10/2014 15:31

He works away lots over summer then home over winter but hopefully it would change with this promotion but July and August would still be full on regardless of promotion. I know he's being logical and sensible but my crazy baby mind just wants it now!! ( you all get that thought right!) He keeps saying he's ready for it and I really think he is it's just that he always thinks so logically! (Something I don't seem capable of at the moment!) xx

Mumwannabe82 · 17/10/2014 15:58

That's good dogonaleash, its hard to feel the positive side of anything and easier said than done so you're doing well Flowers

chubbocat · 18/10/2014 19:08
