This is a thread for ladies who have been ttc longer than 10 months who have started the ball rolling with tests and treatments. We are all here to support each other though these darker days to the baby shaped light at the end of the tunnel!

ooh do share your meal plan ideas Laura. I need to do mine and could do with some inspiration! lots of healthy food left in my fridge about to go off so I'm batch cooking tomorrow!

landy are you on short protocol or long?

Landy10 · 03/01/2015 23:13

Yeah being ill sucks!

Lil - I think I'm on "short" but didn't get told in those terms by the FC. From reading Zita West and googling all my drugs I've concluded it's short, with no down-regging. Pill straight to gonal f. You must be on long? Are you feeling ok with the injections? Like fine for working? I'm going to be super keen at work from Monday to ensure I'm as organised as possible for the end of jan / feb incase I end up needing to be off lots.

Next on my to do list is to download the zita west relaxation stuff. Then oversee hubby reading the zita west book which he has promised he will do (might just need to set him some reading times to actually do it!) I'm going to try and plan meals too Laura. The problem is I plan things and then decide I don't really fancy that on the given night. It's the problem when you've been in charge of what you eat for 15 years!

victoria401 · 04/01/2015 09:04

Hope you feel better soon landy and in best of health when you start treatment!

Good luck with the diet Laura. Like Lil and landy I have used myfitnesspal to calorie count. You put in what you'd like to lose per week and it tells you how many calories you can eat per day. Then you put in what you've eaten. Its surprising how many options are on there to choose from! So many people have added foods in addition to the standard ones and you can scan the barcodes on packets. I think I need to get back on it again as I've really let myself go over Xmas! Bit of a wobbly belly thing going on! Lol. Oh you can also add exercise to 'cancel out calories' so like "today I ate pie which was 5000 calories then I did 4 hours of Zumba which burnt 5000 calories" etc! Hahaha!

OP posts:
Lauraqc · 04/01/2015 18:56

Hahaha Vic that's the sort of calorie counting I go for...!

As far as meal plans go Lil most of them involve chicken/turkey, egg, salad, wholemeal pasta and veg! I'm allowing myself two granary sandwiches for lunches each week (cos salad gets boring day in day out!) and I'm allowed stuff like banana and custard/peaches and custard for pudding which sounds great!

Weirdly enough today I was in M&S doing my food shop (I was too late for Tesco ha) when I had the urge to go to the loo...found very faint pink jelly like stuff when I wiped! Yay - I don't even care if it's af because it'll be the first since August 2014! It means I can start taking the soya isoflavones and track my cycle again! Clearly I hope it's implant bleed as we dtd twice at the right time, but somehow I doubt I'll be that lucky! Got mild cramps now too but I know it's going to be a heck of an af after not having one for so long :(

Nonconformist34 · 04/01/2015 19:44

Hi everyone, a belated Happy New Year to you all! Just popping back in to see how everyone is.

Great to see how you're all doing and so pleased to see that this thread has had some BFPs since I last popped in!!!!!!!

Vic-do you start IUI soon?

I'm starting my second round of IUI first week in Feb, the clinic shut over Xmas so had a few cycles break to get our heads together. Plus, by the sounds of it I too like the rest of you are back on major detox. We've both agreed to have NO alcohol from now on. Plus I'm back on low carb, high protein. This will be our year ladies for getting a BFP!!!!

victoria401 · 05/01/2015 10:17

Hi non welcome back! I hope to be starting iui in 2 weeks or so providing dh's sa comes back good enough after his illness and meds taking :-( I've started a new iui thread. Do come aboard!

How's your bleeding, cramps, symptoms today Laura?

OP posts:
Lauraqc · 05/01/2015 19:16

I feel like we're all really in the 'zone' now for the start of this year - lots of you starting treatment, and a lot of us on diets, detox etc!!

Thanks for asking Vic - af well and truly hit today! Full flow :) again is odd to be happy about it but at least something has happened! I'm also pleased because as you all know (because I keep harping on about it) it's my first af since August 2014. So I feel fully prepared to start taking the soya isoflavones tomorrow, dtd eod next week onwards and laying down for ages afterwards and keeping the goodies in for as long as poss! I'm hoping now with the metformin that a bit of a cycle is starting and we can give it a decent shot each time rather than waiting for our once-every-5-months chance!

I wonder - has anyone heard from Lady since her promising symptoms before Christmas? I'm keeping everything crossed!

victoria401 · 05/01/2015 22:12

Oh my gosh yes! No I've heard heard anything. She was going to test and tell us the next day. I looked every few hours all the next day! Hopefully it was all the excitement of a bfp that she forgot about us too. Fingers crossed. Get in touch lady!

Ladyboluna · 06/01/2015 08:15

Thanks for thinking of me ladies but no, AF came, sorry for not getting back to you all but I felt like I needed to stop thinking about it over the holidays.

New year though so I'm back on it. Went to the gp today who said that my progesterone is literally sitting in "no man's land" between ovulation is definitely not happening and it probably is. Apparently anything below 15 is no ovulation and 30 or above is definite, and to repeat the test if it's 15. Mine was 15 both times, which is typical! So I'm finally getting referred to the gynaecologist to find out for sure (although I think even if the blood result was 14 or 16 the same thing would have happened). Any ladies know anything about this?

Think I'll join you ladies in losing weight this year. Saying that though I can't tell you how much chocolate I've still got after Christmas! My mum bought me a huge hamper. I love it all but I am loathe to give it away! Wink

victoria401 · 06/01/2015 10:28

Sorry lady :-(

Omg I have so much chocolate left! I purposely didn't buy any chocolate and biscuits this year. Although I did have a last min panic that I would not have any sweet stuff to offer my guests. But luckily (?!) my guests brought me some as a thanks for hosting. 2 boxes of Feraro Roche, slabs of chilli choc from Thorntons, after eights, choc orange... Then went to in laws for a 2nd Xmas few days after and got a box of choc biscuits and a tub on celebrations off mil and a box of milk tray off Nan! Jeez. There's only 2 of us! Can't diet til its all gone surely? Oh also got a giant bar of Cadbury caramel. The in laws somehow got it into their heads that it was my fave choc and I now get one every year. I can't tell them now than I don't like it and give it to dh every year lol!

I've started back on the healthy lunch, hairy biker diet book dinners, then ramming loads of choc in my face all night! hahaha!

Thought id pop my head in and see how your all doing its sounding pretty positive in here which is good to see!!

Ladyboluna · 06/01/2015 19:23

Thank you vic, I'm ok now but with the holiday and 2 new babies in family/friends this one was hard. Being told it's very unlikely I'm ovulating has taken away the unknownness about it all a little. At least I know that there's something wrong that they can investigate rather than being told that everything is fine.
At least now we can maybe tone down on DTD now we know that until I have tests and treatment it's unlikely to happen on its own. Anyone else done the same?
Also, can anyone tell me how long they waited to see gynae?

Lauraqc · 06/01/2015 22:52

Ah sorry to hear that Lady, and totally understand the need to step back for a bit. Have u read up on soya isoflavones at all? Seeing as you have a decent cycle they may be able to pep up ov a bit? Have a look!

I'm in a slightly different boat as I don't really have cycles so my GP referred us to fertility clinic in about April 14 (appt was July) after TTC since Aug 13 so quite quickly I'd say...even then I sort of stood firm and said that's what I wanted...what's the point of dtd so much for months on end without any date to aim for at all?!? I was worn out with eod!!!

Vic all that chocolate sounds like heaven...we have a family circle box left only luckily and I managed to steer clear of those tonight!!

Lindsay81 · 07/01/2015 09:08

Hi girls- hope you all had a nice christmas and wishing you all a very happy 2015 :-)

I'm still trying not to be on here too much, I've accepted a new job so TTC is really the last thing on my mind as I wind up at this job and start to prepare for the next one.

I popped on to speak to you lady and sorry if you have already explained this. My prog used to sit around 20 when I went for my day 21 tests (for me that was cd19 as I average a 26 day cycle). I used to think OPKs didn't work for me but really I just never got a positive til cd18/19 (at that time. It has improved now). That's why prog always showed low on cd19 tests. If I went a couple of days later, it was much higher. However, it obviously must have dropped quickly as I still got my period on day 27, so a short luteal phase.

My cycle is getting better naturally now though and I get my OPK+ on cd16. Still not ideal but I'd rather an 11 day luteal phase than my old 8 days!

Metalhead · 07/01/2015 09:57

Just popping in to say hello. Not much happening here, I should be coming into my fertile window soon but I'm not using opks or temping this month, I'm fed up of ttc taking over my life so hoping a more relaxed approach might help (if not with getting pregnant then at least with my state of mind).

I'm also back on the diet waggon after eating and drinking way too much last week when we were staying with my parents, though I'm still allowing myself a bit of chocolate every day...

Landy10 · 08/01/2015 15:22

Well AF has arrived, a day early, so it's onto the pill I go in prep for starting my IVF drugs in a few weeks. I'm feeling a little sad now in that it has actually come to this. I'm sure by tomorrow I will be glad I can finally start. I've also been really bad and broken my low carb diet to munch a packet of minstrels! They were so nice!

Hope everyone else is doing well.

lildottie · 08/01/2015 17:32

its a shit feeling landy but it gets easier. especially once you start the drugs. you feel like your actually doing something positive for the first time in this journey.

Landy10 · 08/01/2015 19:52

I just had this little glimmer of hope it would work on my last chance cycle.

How are you getting on with the drugs Lil? Still down regging? Are you having any bad symptoms? I think I miss down regging and go straight to stimms. Will find out next week.

lildottie · 08/01/2015 22:20

yeah i had that hope too. i think the fact we still have hope is a good thing though. it's important to stay hopeful and optimistic through this i think.
Drugs are ok. only side affects are dry hands/lips and a bit itchy at times but nothing to write home about really. did it on my own without dh pinching up the skin for me today. he's away next friday so i won't have him to do it then, thought i'd better have a practice!
Sounds like you are on short protocol then, we may have ec/et at similar times depending on how long you have to stimm. Im expecting to start stimms on wednesday

lildottie · 14/01/2015 22:15

hi all. so quiet in here you fell off my threads list. had my scan today. all looks good and I've done my first stimms injection tonight.

victoria401 · 15/01/2015 06:47

Hi girls, hi lil. I'm still here just have nothing to say!

Well dh gave in his sample on Tuesday and I'm hoping we have the results by tomorrow so we can start iui next week. He told them we needed results by Fri but whether we will..... Can feel af looming. Due sat or sun. I have soooo many spots right now. Can't remember ever being this spotty! I'm bloomin 34 years old not 15! Bah!

Glad things are going well lil. Is stim the gonal f? How long are you on that? 2 weeks? That's what I will start next week all being well.

OP posts:
Landy10 · 15/01/2015 11:25

Hi Everyone.

Hope you get the analysis results tomorrow Vic and hopefully they will be good. I hate waiting for results.

Lil - that's exciting you are stimming! How many scans are you expecting to have?

I've just been for my nurse appointment and have my first scan booked for next Thursday. If that's all good I start stimming on 28th Jan. Then EC week commencing 9th or possibily 16th feb. It's a bit daunting but exciting too. I'm actually most worried about work and getting away. I've decided I'm not telling my boss but might tell one of the ladies who works for me because I know she has done ivf and think she will figure it out, I'd rather tell her and ask her not to say anything than risk have her gossiping about me!

victoria401 · 15/01/2015 18:31

Our consultant just phoned. Its bad news. His latest sample is only suitable for icsi now. I can't believe I'm dropping out of my own iui support thread!!

I feel completely broken. The Dr called when we were in the car on the way back from the vets, where we had taken our pet for a 2nd emergency op in 2 days after she'd pulled her stitches out leaving a horrible gaping hole in her tummy. This is turning out to be a pretty shit day all in all.

Sorry to put a downer on this thread. Great news that things are moving forward for u landy

OP posts:
lildottie · 15/01/2015 18:41

Vic its better to know now and get onto the icsi road rather than waste time on 3 iui's. I know its a total blow and that nothing is consolation right now. Thanks

landy I'm not on gonal f on on menopur. have to mix it first too. right pita. I had scan yesterday and 2 more next week, then ec the following Monday all being well. can't believe how fast your clinic has moved since recommending ivf!

Landy10 · 15/01/2015 21:13

Victoria - totally agree with Lil and it's better to concentrate on positive that you'll be moving on with IVF rather than be down iui won't happen. Will your clinic get you started quite soon? How many nhs goes do you get?

My clinic are speedy! They are all soooo nice too. I'm on short protocol so it's quicker no down regging required for my rubbish ovaries! Lil - that sounds difficult mixing stuff. I've got one drug called centrotide that I have to start taking from day 5 on stimms which needs mixed and I'm not looking forward to that. EC will be here before you know it! Exciting!
