This is a thread for ladies who have been ttc longer than 10 months who have started the ball rolling with tests and treatments. We are all here to support each other though these darker days to the baby shaped light at the end of the tunnel!

Hi ladies, quick question for those of you who've had an HSG or hycosy (possible TMI alert!) - did your cervix feel different afterwards? I've started checking my cm and cervix again for signs of ov after last week's procedure, and my cervix feels really odd, kind of flat whereas before it was always a bit lumpy... Not quite sure what to make of that! Confused

victoria401 · 08/12/2014 10:18

Welcome larnylou! If you have any questions regarding tests etc we are experts by now Grin what are your stats this month, what feels different?

metal I've never felt/looked at my own cervix so I've no idea! I leave that to the professionals lol! I do remember having tons of ewcm hsg month. Prob not related! Ovd normal time but short lp.... Didn't ttc that month.

Urgh just had our planning appointment and I feel like reaching for the wine!

The nurse just seemed to rush through things at the speed of light and I don't feel clear at all! Dh needs a repeat sa which is booked before my start date in Jan ok? Everytime I tried to ask a question she butted in with stuff. Eg.

Me: so on day 1......
Nurse: not until he has his test and we know its ok!
Me: yes, so on day 1 I call up.....
Nurse: yes but not until we know the sa!
And so it continued....
Still none the wiser about day 1. The chart is confusing. It has the drugs I need to take from day 1, but day 1 isn't cycle day 1 it seems, its about cd3. Possibly. Day 1 is the day they tell me to start. Oh f%&# knows. Sigh.

I feel your pain victoria. It's unsettling not knowing what is going to happen. Will you be able to get your DH sperm analysis booked in soon? Will you be able to speak to them after the results of this?

I have no idea what is happening with my ivf. It just all happened so fast. My drugs are arriving on Friday and I start taking my pill cd1 Jan and then about 10 days later I go into see the nurse.

I'm getting on quite well with my high protein diet. Week 2 was much easier than week 1. I've also managed to convince myself that I have immune problems (for absolutley no reason but i can't stop looking stuff up on it)! I actually wonder - would ivf have been easier pre internet?! Or at least pre internet on mobiles which you can look at 100 times a day!

Hi Larny. As victoria said ask us any questions you have, there are lots of people going through and just past the investigations stage. Maybe you won't have to do this if this month goes well : )

lildottie · 08/12/2014 20:28

Oh vic that is awful. I think i'd phone up and tell them you weren't happy with the appointment and you'd like to see someone else. It's important that you are happy with what you have to do. i actually think i would have shouted at her and told her to do her f'ing job properly but that's just me!

Hi larny

I am sooooooo tired of waiting for it to be December 28th. Never have I wished it to be after Christmas so much EVER!

victoria401 · 08/12/2014 22:02

I'm just not worrying about anything. Dh will go for his sa, we'll bug them for the results then if its ok I will call the clinic on day 1. That's all I need to know for now. Its still 5 or 6 weeks away and I've got too much to do before Xmas to worry about this future event.

Its all about waiting isn't it girls? Is the 28th when you start injections lil? I take it your clinic isn't closed for Xmas then? We've been told the lab machines need to be turned off for 2 weeks a year as part of hfea guidelines so they can't accept sperm samples from Dec 23 until Jan 13!

OP posts:
lildottie · 08/12/2014 23:09

yep that's injection day, although as far as I'm aware atm I don't see anyone until 14 Jan so they could be closed. I know they have an on call nurse 24/7 so perhaps that's how they cover it and allow ppl to start injecting ready for the new year.

sounds like a good plan Vic, less stress the better. need to work on that myself

victoria401 · 11/12/2014 12:28

lil did you get a go on a demo needle? Did you 'get it'? I made a complete cows arse out of it and didn't get a 2nd go :-(

Hey Guys,

This is my first post in here so I apologise if I am asking something that has already been answered elsewhere/here.

I'm 24 years old and my partner and I have been trying to conceive since August 2013 (16 months). After a year I was diagnosed with PCOS. This completely changed my life knowing this. This explained my whole life up to that day the doctor told me this. I never even knew about PCOS until we started trying to conceive. I wish someone would have looked into this and diagnosed me earlier (as I had signs) but no doctor tested or concluded this when I was younger. Apparently because PCOS is hard to miss until you try to conceive. But enough about that.

After being diagnosed with PCOS in August I had a scan - which confirmed of course that yes, I had Polycystic Ovaries. I also started on Metformin to help me with my weight (which has helped me lose 5KG). After I stopped the pill in August 2013 I gained about 10KG so, I've lost about half. I had only 2 periods in 12 months, but after Metformin I have had it each month but longer cycles.

I had an appointment with a fertility specialist in late November who did another scan to confirm once again that it was polycystic ovaries and also found a dermoid cyst (2.2cm). She said although I had periods she was not sure if I ovulated. She provided me with Clomid and now I am patiently waiting for my period to start - although I am currently coming up on week 6 since my last one.

This has been such an emotionally roller coaster as you can imagine ladies, and I thought writing on here might give me some support and for others to share their experience with Clomid and TTC.

What were your experiences with Clomid?

I am terrified that I will be one of those few % who won't ovulate on Clomid and that there is no hope for me. We are getting married Summer 16, so I would really like if we had a baby before then - but at this stage I would just be happy if if happens at all.

I could do with some encouraging words if anyone can spare a minute, I would much appreciate any feedback.

Thanks in advance!

victoria401 · 11/12/2014 15:24

Hi hun, I have no experience with pcos or Clomid I'm afraid :-( one of our long timers has just got pregnant on her 2nd month of Clomid tho so it does work! I think some of the ladies on the main conception threads will be able to help more with the pcos part of it as I don't think any of the regulars in this thread has it, I may be wrong sorry bad memory girls!. I'm on the Ding Dong Merrily on BPF! Thread. There are lots of knowledgable ladies on there :-)
Please do pop in for a moan and some support here tho with us old timers, the conception threads can be hard with people announcing positive tests every 5 minutes!

OP posts:
lildottie · 11/12/2014 19:12

iz I too dont have pcos or clomid experience but the jsing thread has a few people who do, some long term others just diagnosed so may be worth chatting in there. they are a lively bunch albeit totally nuts (in a good way!)

Vic my stabbing demo is next Tuesday so will let you know how it goes. I have looked at a couple of YouTube video though, maybe worth a look? hope you've bought fresh mulled wine Wink

got my Zita west guided relaxation/visualisation CD today. looking forward to giving it a go.

victoria401 · 11/12/2014 22:04

I never even thought of YouTube! Unlike me! I was on there the other day watching vids on how to correctly cut and roast a parsnip for Xmas dinner! Xmas Grin

Urgh that was an awkward as arse evening! Went round my friends for her annual Xmas house party. No one really talked to me for ages so lurked in a corner for a while. Then a couple turn up with an 8 week old baby so much cooing ensues. Then my friend says "oh you're drinking wine you've not started ivf yet then" really loud so the whole room hears. Just look at floor and text hubby to pick me up. Only when I say bye people suddenly say "oh you're not leaving already?!" I could have quietly snuck out and no one would have noticed for ages! I seem to have lost the ability to socialise. These are the (mostly) childless people in my life I should relate to most. I seem to be stuck in a no where land between the single and carefree and the families. Argh!

OP posts:
lildottie · 13/12/2014 00:31

oh my god Vic I can't believe she said that in front of everyone! I'm not surprised you didn't feel like socialising with people that insensitive! try not to let it get to you easier said than done and I know I wouldn't be able to not let it get to me and focus on the fact you will be out of limbo soon. 2015 is going to be our year. 2014 has brought you so much shit and such a rollercoaster of emotions, things can only go up from here. Thanks

Landy10 · 13/12/2014 11:31

Victoria that really does suck. Some people seem to not have any sensitivity about things.

I'm on Cd2 so can now say I start IVF next cycle. Scary and exciting. All my drugs arrived yesterday - there are a LOT of them. A whole shelf of my fridge full. Really hope there are no power cuts while we are away for Christmas.

Lil - how many days till you start injecting? What drug are you taking. You have high amh don't you?

lildottie · 13/12/2014 11:48

yep high amh - 40. I start with buserelin 0.3ml per day, then menopur mid Jan. not sure of dose but I have demo appt and pick up drugs on Tuesday. damn need to clear the fridge!

lildottie · 13/12/2014 11:48

oh and only 14bcps left to take!

victoria401 · 13/12/2014 16:04

Roll on 2015 then girls! I've had enough of 2014.

Got my work Xmas do tonight. Can't be bothered to dress up and go into town :-( would rather stay in the warm and watch strictly and casualty!

OP posts:
lildottie · 13/12/2014 16:26

So stay in Vic bollocks to the rest of the world. we have earned our self pity! I'm supposed to be going out dancing. must do my eyebrows, arm pits, legs and decide wtf to wear. I'm being picked up at 8 Confused I really can't be arsed.

totally agree 2014 can feck off and let 2015 arrive!

victoria401 · 13/12/2014 17:43

I've already paid for my meal so I'm going. Sat at the bus stop freezing my butt cheeks off. Had to get the bus that will get me into town too early, either that or too late. Hate living out in the sticks sometimes!

Have a nice evening lil! X

Hope you enjoyed it when you got there Vic. I had a fab time apart from one twat asking if I wasn't drinking "because of the obvious" I politely said no, he said how I'd been married a while and it can take 18months. I scowled and told him I'm doing ivf in January. that shut him up. he's s Dr as well so u think he'd know better! other than that it was great though! lol

victoria401 · 14/12/2014 09:16

Some people are too nosey for their own good! Glad you made him feel bad by telling the truth.

I had a reasonably good night in the end, food was good and I had a few wines. Have a stinking headache and a bit of a queasy tummy this morning though!

I forgot how old you are lil? To have your stonking great figure of 40 AMH! One of the girls I've got chatting to on my clinics forum had that and was preg on her first and only NHS ivf with icsi so fingers crossed!

lildottie · 14/12/2014 09:31

I'm 29 Vic but test was done in January so was 28 then. I think it is a good figure for my age. I do worry that they didn't do day3 tests though but not a lot I can do about it now. I've temped for 2years and always had an ovulation shift so I hope that's a good indication of my fertility too. I like hearing success stories, especially when they are similar to my own circumstances.
