This is a thread for ladies who have been ttc longer than 10 months who have started the ball rolling with tests and treatments. We are all here to support each other though these darker days to the baby shaped light at the end of the tunnel!

Omg, huge congrats to you both notta and blue! Wishing you healthy and uneventful pregnancies :)

Sparrowlegs248 · 02/12/2014 18:10

I've been a bit cramp too blue but just thought AF was on her way. I feel a bit odd in my tummy, as if I've got a bit of wind!

Glad it all went well andmetal and fx for you now you know all is ok. X

TheTravellingLemon · 02/12/2014 18:31

So I've finally got up the courage. I've booked in to see my GP on Thursday. They are notoriously unsympathetic at my surgery and I'm wondering how I should play this. Some of you will remember that the last time I went they just said that there's nothing they can offer me as I already have a baby.

I now know this is untrue, so I'm going back. Any advice on what I should/shouldn't say? I've been finding it all incredibly hard, but I don't know how honest to be.

victoria401 · 02/12/2014 19:05

travelling I'm sure you're entitled to blood tests to check ovulation and your dh can have a sa. Its just ivf that you'd need to pay for if you needed it. You wouldn't have to lie about anything, you've been trying over a year. Secondary infertility seems quite common but I don't know a lot about it as I'm trying for my 1st. I hope someone can advise you better!

Glad your hysto-whassit went well metal bit odd about the lack of adhesions!

How are you doing mama? We miss you x

Hi allGrin

Just popping on to say Congratulations to NottaGrin fantastic news!

Wow 2 long timers in one day and both 20cycles....great news!

Runs off to check which cycle I'm on.............

Ladyboluna · 02/12/2014 19:46

Glad your thingy went well metal.

travelling I would print out part of the nhs website which says you're entitled to tests and brandish it in their face if they're funny with you!

Ladies today I ordered some preseed. Never used it before. Anyone had any experience with it or heard of successes? The amazon reviews are full of people who seem to have got pregnant with only a few cycles of use.

TheTravellingLemon · 02/12/2014 20:00

Lady we've been using it for two months. I would say that the recommended amount feels like an awful lot IYSWIM? This last cycle we didn't use the the full amount, but we've not had any success either way...

I agree that the reviews make you think that it's magic!

Metalhead · 02/12/2014 21:27

I've used Preseed for a couple of cycles and no magic for me either, though I do quite like the feel of it.

lildottie · 02/12/2014 23:02

Congrats blue i'm so happy for you. Your symptoms did sound very promising. That bfp isnt even faint!

travelling if you were going to pay for IVF yourself you would still need gp referral and to do referral gp would need bloods and sa so definitely push for those as at least.

metal good news on the adhesions. are they going to do any more tests? are you being put forward for treatment now?

i also used preseed for about 4/5 months as we thought it might help with the shit sperm! Apparently not!!

Ladyboluna · 02/12/2014 23:33

I imagine the preseed would work in some circumstances, can't imagine it helping with anything major but why not try something new lol almost at the stage where I start hanging crystals around the house and walking 7 times around the bed before dtd.

lildottie · 02/12/2014 23:49

Grin that's where I've gone wrong lady,I haven't heard of that one! Wink

TheTravellingLemon · 03/12/2014 09:07

lady crystals you say? That sounds like it might do the trick! Can you let me know the specifics about type and formation? In return I'll happily tell you how to make a magic pregnancy potion. You'll have to wait for a full moon though.Grin

Metalhead · 03/12/2014 10:31

Haha, I shall add crystals and magic potions to my Christmas wish list!

lil unfortunately I think this is the end of the road for us, tests have all come back clear, and as we've already got DD we're not entitled to any NHS treatment. We could probably have one go at IVF privately, but I'm not sure I want to go that far. For now we'll just keep on trying and hoping we'll get there eventually.

Ladyboluna · 03/12/2014 11:12

I've read that preseed is supposed to help a little with sperm mobility and make the conditions inside the lady parts better for sperm. I think it'll help if everything's ok and OH's swimmers just need a little push...

And yes ladies, lil haven't you heard? All you have to do is spend £50 on crystals that have been blessed by the waters of Avalon then encircle the bed while holding onto OH's... while chanting the names of the chakra's.

Unfortunately travelling I can't tell you the formation as that will break the effects of my crystals. Wink Are you talking about FF's Instant Baby Potion upgrade? I think preseed is being sold like a magic potion

metal If you want to be a parent for a 2nd time I'm sure you'll get there. Not always the way we expect or how and when we planned to but we all will.

lildottie · 03/12/2014 17:20

aww metal I'm not sure if unexplained is better or worse in ur situation. on the one hand it means there's s hood chance it will happen, on the other if u knew there was a problem you may feel more justified to try ivf. forgive me for asking as you've probably said before but are you temping?

Metalhead · 03/12/2014 22:24

lil yes I've been temping for a few months now, always get a nice big temp shift that tallies with +opks so I know we've been doing everything at the right time. It's a no-win situation really, when I thought I had Asherman's I was really worried about it but at the same time so hopeful that the surgery would fix everything and then I'd be pregnant in no time afterwards; now I'm just back to thinking why the hell isn't it happening...

Ladyboluna · 04/12/2014 12:41

So ladies I tried to use preseed last night but I think I went a bit too far in while using the applicator and touched my cervix. For a little while after it was achy/crampy. Is that normal? It was quite uncomfortable and thinking about it makes me feel like its aching again (I think it's just psychological).

Lauraqc · 04/12/2014 13:25

Blue jumping up and down with excitement for you! Brilliant news! You and Notta have restored faith for me!! Congratulations! Xxx

TheTravellingLemon · 04/12/2014 13:44

lady I've not put it that far in and have never had aches with it before. Did you find the recommended amount too much?

Landy10 · 04/12/2014 13:54

Hi Lady, I've used preseed but not ever had cramps. Lemon - yes the stated amount is far too much (I think)! That reminds me I need to order some more.

I had my first accupuncture session last night. It's a bit weird but I think I could get hooked. I always wake up in the night needing the loo and she thinks what she will do will fix this! I'm also cold all the time and apparently that will get fixed too! My DH is well skeptical.

Lil - you got herbs from your accu lady didn't you? How are you getting on with them? Mine told me to take them so they are being posted out.

Ladyboluna · 04/12/2014 14:04

I think also what didn't help is that I had air in the applicator. I think the cramps were more because I didn't use the applicator correctly. Will use it one more time.

I found the leaflet to be a little funny - it said that it can/should be applied 15mins before DTD because that "allows for more spontaneity". Wink

And yeah Travelling I felt like 3ml was a little too much, but I liked it. I've tried other lube before and I like that preseed is watery rather than "gloopy" like durex.

What's acupuncture meant to help with? I have never liked the sound of it and watching final destination put me off...

Sparrowlegs248 · 04/12/2014 15:05

Thanks Laura. I spent a long time worrying that it would never happen for us. I wasn't temping, only used opks a few times to establish ovation day (positive on cd 8) and certainly wasn't dtd all that much. We did however dtd 2 - 3 times around ovulation more often than not. Twice last month Cd 8 & 10.

TMI alert.......I think the position may help - standard missionary. Meant we stayed together for longer afterwards, and there was less leakage.... who knows. Its taken 20 cycles but we seem to have got there.

victoria401 · 04/12/2014 16:00

Notta we do missionary 99% of the time! Dh has never been particularly adventurous. Sometimes he flips me over if he's had a few beers! TMI!! We never do me on top for ttc as it just falls straight back out!

I'm wondering if we need to try preseed... TMI again but I seem to get wet at the entrance but then inside feels drier and sore when dh enters. Maybe the cm isn't there to take the sperm up! Mentioned it to dh and he agrees.

lildottie · 04/12/2014 17:57

landy no no herbs, just mustard seeds taped to my ears! I don't feel Kern on putting unknown stuff in my body. the acupuncture fine as there is so e science to suggest it helps but for herbs I'll stick to the dried stuff from Tesco that's in my cupboard!

Vic preseed certainly can't hurt, and if nothing else it will make DTD more enjoyable if you get some discomfort.

we've had sex once since I last ovulated 5weeks ago. scary how sex drive disappearing on bcp has killed 100% of our sex life rather than 50% (iyswim)

Landy10 · 04/12/2014 20:12

Thanks Lil - must have imagined it. I'm going to give it a bash anything to help my wee ovaries and their crap amh!
