This is a thread for ladies who have been ttc longer than 10 months who have started the ball rolling with tests and treatments. We are all here to support each other though these darker days to the baby shaped light at the end of the tunnel!

Sorry to hear that lil, and good luck with the treatment!

I'm also awaiting the arrival of AF any day now.

lildottie · 14/11/2014 20:58

Thanks metal. Fx she leaves you alone and you can join ginger in celebrating a bfp.

Hope things are well with you ginger

vic what date is your appt?

GingerbreadHead · 14/11/2014 21:06

Ah bollocks, sorry lil, here's to more positive outcomes for you over christmas and the new year though. I am ok thanks, still in disbelief and trying to rein in my excitement, really worried it's not going to be a sticky bean.
Welcome baby, but sorry to see you on here! Agreed, you ladies are indispensable to chat to when going through all this crap.
vic hope you are able to cancel your appointment! Have you had any more second thoughts about it all or are you just going to go for it this time?

victoria401 · 14/11/2014 21:48

Good luck with your treatment lil. Keep us updated what stages you are on etc. If you want to that is!

ginger, I had to re-read the line "hope you get to cancel your appointment" several times before u got your meaning! You're hoping I'm preg! I hope that's what you mean anyway! Lol!

I'm still on the November bus frantically symptom spotting with the other girls. Heading for a fall!

Have you seen a doc yet ginger, is that what you do?!

OP posts:
lildottie · 15/11/2014 13:47

Happy to keep you updated if you're interested vic. Clinic have called today to confirm i take pill from monday until day before i start injections. Also given me my appt to learn how to inject - 16th December! nervous and excited atm. Just done a big shopping list for my pro ivf diet plan - reducing the bad carbs, increasing the nut seeds and fruit. Must remember to book acupunture next week was going to do it this week but i forgotted!

cooperG · 15/11/2014 17:10

Hey ladies, not been on for a while, been trying to distract myself and stay positive, it's working a little bit.

ginger, massive congratulations!! So pleased for you SmileFlowers

Currently 5dpo after first clomid cycle but we only dtd a couple of times and the last was 2 days before ov so not got my hopes up anyway.

Hope everyone's ok - sorry about af lil

onelifeonechance · 15/11/2014 17:44

Hi ladies

I haven't been on for a long while as was finding things heavy going but wanted to pop on to spread some hope that it can happen as I've somehow managed to get my BFP! Smile We were cycle 19 ttc #1, under fertility clinic, diagnosed as unexplained, had been consented for IVF and just had to give them the nod when we were ready (which we had been planning to do Dec/Jan time) but somebody appeared to have other ideas and I was beyond shocked when I saw those two lines appear on the test!!
I know everybody is different but I had honestly reached the point where I just thought it was never going to happen naturally for us...then this! I'm still incredibly tentative as I know it is still such early days, but I just wanted to share it with you as it may offer some hope and comfort because believe me I know how stressful and horrible it is waiting month after month. Good luck all and keep believing!! Smile

Huge congrats to Ginger too, wonderful news!!

Lindsay81 · 15/11/2014 17:51

OMG one!!!! Squeeeeee!!!! :-))))))

Good things come in threes, I always say... Who's next?!

Lindsay81 · 15/11/2014 17:56

Well, my fertility appointment wasn't great. All tests completed, all tests normal and a diagnosis of unexplained infertility. See you later, ta ta, cheerio. :-/
Apparently a shortened luteal phase isn't a concern to the NHS and so they won't prescribe anything to help me with that.
Options now are IVF... Or just wait it out a bit I guess. We spoke about adoption before we even knew about our fertility issues and so that is probably our next step, if we need to take it.

All in all, feeling a tad glum. :(

victoria401 · 15/11/2014 18:13

Omg! Another bfp! Congrats one and all the best for a good 9 months. What an exciting month after all those negative ones!

Lindsay don't give up hun. Have u been offered ivf? What about iui? Sorry they fobbed you off with the unexplained label when they should be talking about your lp :-( So you'd adopt not have ivf? That's a nice thing to do :-)

I've decided I will do the iui (all 3 if the first didn't totally put me off!) I don't think I will put myself through ivf though. Its just such a step up. Iui is what I class as assisted conception, just putting sperm closer to egg at the right time. Creating embryos that might not survive I just can't get my head around. I might change my mind but that's my current feelings.

OP posts:
lildottie · 15/11/2014 18:19

congrats one that's amazing!

linds sorry it didn't go so well. have they not given you Amy options? surely iui is next step? I assume you've been monitoring when u ov to know lp so can't be a timing issue. what have you tried for lp. can you speak to go about whether they can prescribe anything. maybe go armed with some research? what about getting a private consultation? sorry don't mean to throw so many questions at you, just thinking of ideas for u. Thanks

Lindsay81 · 15/11/2014 18:58

Thanks girls. I don't think there's anyway around the short LP thing. I've seen two GPs with dates, info on LP etc who both say it is not an obstacle to getting pregnant. Now this specialist saying the same! I've tried b vits and Agnus Castus. Will try soy this month I think.

The IUI thing was weird. Specialist said studies show that when there are no issues with spermicide motility or something like that then it is of no benefit to couples like us? She seemed to be very against it and said it was an outdated technology :-( I think we may have been more OK with IUI than IVF but seems that, unless we go private, this isnt an option.
I've got all the clinic details for private but I feel like we're gonna shelf everything til the new year and maybe even spring. If we adopt, age is less of an issue.
Who knows... Maybe soy will work for me too :)

Lindsay81 · 15/11/2014 18:59

vic I will be watching your IUI story and hope it works perfectly for you guys. Then I will be demanding it too! LOL

Lindsay81 · 15/11/2014 19:00

*sperm not spermicide!!! LMAO! That is the last thing any of us need!

GingerbreadHead · 15/11/2014 20:00

one!!!! yey!!!!!! Someone did mention on another thread that you had gotten your bfp, but I didn't know where you were to congratulate you, so huggeee congratulations!!!!!! So very happy for you.
Lindsay I am shocked, but not surprised, at the seemingly poor responses you are getting from Drs and supposed professionals. I can't believe they are willing to just send you away with an IVF or nothing approach! I do think it's a good idea for you to shelf it all over christmas and enjoy an abundance of mulled wine, but I would consider going to at least one private appt if I were you, just to hear their opinion. They may be more interested/considerate if you are paying them money. Terrible I know, but probably true! I would definately recommend soy in the meantime though! My LP was rarely over 12 days, and even 12 days was a very rare thing, more like 10. Let me know if you want any advice on doses etc, but the Soy thread is very informative.
vic haha! Of course that is what I meant!! Hoping you get a lovely surprise BFP too and can be done with all this bloody to-ing and fro-ing with tests and appointments.
I've not seen anyone yet no, I will call the surgery when I am about 6 weeks to see midwife for a booking in appointment when I'm 8 weeks, it's all pretty slow moving in the early days.
lil check you out with your new diet! Very impressive! When will you start the injections? Is it just the one month you will be back on the pill? Must seem surreal to you after all this time!

victoria401 · 15/11/2014 21:08

ginger thanks I would have been calling the GP as soon as I'd seen the bfp on the stick lol!

Lindsay have you checked online what you're entitled to at your clinic? I can't remember the link but it was via the infertility network website if you look up nhs funding. We were told that dh's sperm was good enough for iui BECAUSE the motility was normal! If it was duff in that area it would have only been ivf or even icsi. I don't get why they are saying the opposite to my clinic!

OP posts:
lildottie · 15/11/2014 21:27

hi ginger I'll be on pill until 27th December then injecting from 28th December. first scan 14th Jan and ec WC 26th Jan!

linds don't give up hope. at least unexplained means there isn't anything majorly wrong. fwiw I think the b vits has to be b complex not just b6 if that makes any difference to you.

Lindsay81 · 15/11/2014 21:51

Omg vic what the hell? I have actually just given up with the NHS. I think these specialists sometimes just spout any old crap that comes into their heads. :-( I'm leaving it all alone for the next couple of months... Over it! :-(

Thanks lil, yeah I always took the complex.

victoria401 · 15/11/2014 22:23

Have a well deserved break from this shite lindsay Pop in and see us sometimes yeah? Have a lovely festive period and I hope the New Year is kind to you x x to all of us :-)

Morning ladies,

lil sorry AF arrived but at least you can get started now

Cooper There's still a chance. Did you have a scan to look at your follicles I cant remember or do you get a blood test. I'm on second month now due to ovulate today.

One Congrats! !

lindsay Sorry the doctors couldnt give you more of an answer but surely theres more they can try

Nothing happening here dtding lots hoping to catch the egg should have got positive opk yesterday but seems itll appear today a day late

victoria401 · 16/11/2014 21:04

So af just arrived. Wasn't due til Wednesday. 2nd month in a row with shortened lp. 11days. I've always been a 14/15 day lp person.

Cracked open one of dh's beers to console myself. Didn't buy any wine in. Wish I did, hate beer.

OP posts:
cooperG · 16/11/2014 21:16

No blue, they "don't offer any monitoring" at my clinic, said I could go for a day 21 test but it'd be due tomorrow and I can't make it tomorrow so will have to go next month. The earliest I've ever ov'd is day 17, even while I'm on clomid my body doesn't want to ov any earlier, weird..

Sorry about af vic, onwards and upwards to your next appointment hey? Flowers

lildottie · 16/11/2014 21:16

so sorry Vic, was hoping you'd make a thread hat trick. at least you have the appt coming up to focus on. Thanks weird about the lp. has your diet changed or have you changed anything you've been taking? different vitamins maybe?

blue fx clomid does the job and this is your month.

victoria401 · 16/11/2014 22:19

I've not changed anything lil the only factor is its the 2 months following the hsg. But EVERYONE'S had that with no problems. Week Thursday is the appointment. I need to ask more questions about the quality of dh's sperm regarding his low morphology.

Can't believe they don't monitor you to see if its working cooper. What is it with some places and their care?!

Good luck blue. At least you have a lively sex life with dp. Its like getting blood out of a stone with mine! Lol x

Let's hope that the magic happens this month and that we don't need to go through any of these procedures! I'm in bit of a dilemma because we got the dates for my DH's business trips for next few months and sadly he won't be in town around my O from December to February. We briefly considered travelling together but with the cost issue, time off work, uncertainty of the exact O dates and stress, we decided not to pursue the mad plan. That makes November a rather desperate month for us! Initially I thought I'd try naturally and see what happens but I've been let down so many times by my own body, I don't believe in luck anymore. After a serious fertility talk with DH over the weekend, we decided to see a doctor tomorrow to discuss re:IUI this month. I would've liked to try naturally this month and consider IUI in December if no luck. Now the plan's abruptly changed! Confused I never knew becoming a mother was so difficult! I'll see what the doctor has to say tomorrow.
