This is a thread for ladies who have been ttc longer than 10 months who have started the ball rolling with tests and treatments. We are all here to support each other though these darker days to the baby shaped light at the end of the tunnel!

Hi ladies, been a busy week or 2 so haven't had much chance to catch up with everyone.
I hate thinking back to when we first started ttc-ing, passing all these milestones thinking we would have a baby by then. I am looking forward to christmas this year, but I know it is going to be bittersweet as I still won't be pregnant. Plenty of opportunity for mulled wine and soft cheese, but the novelty gets a bit old after a while doesn't it?!
I totally understand all the cold feet feelings, and do I even want a baby anymore feelings. I have been wondering the same things, do I even actually want a baby anymore? The sleepless nights, the pain, the 9 months of pregnancy to get through, not having a life or even a cup of tea to yourself for months and months? It is of course only a coping mechanism to think I don't want a baby! The chase for a bfp has been reduced to wanting to see those two little lines on a stick, I can't even think beyond that anymore.
Sorry so many of us don't seem to be getting anywhere, we were doing so well with all these appointments and check ups, but I guess it is still just a waiting game. I still haven't heard about my NHS gynae appointment, it's been over 6 months now. Angry I have made an appointment to see a private fertility gynaecologist, £150 right before christmas Hmm I'm looking forward to discussing it with someone who should care what I have to say as I am paying him, but I don't really know what he is going to be able to do for me. We can't afford multiple appts with him, so unless he can suggest something there and then, I don't really know where to go from there.
Currently 10dpo today, and this is the first cycle I am trying out soy. I did poas this morning and managed to imagine a line out of nowhere so am now stupidly getting my hopes up, even though I know AF is on her way. Seriously, I shouldn't even write that I thought I saw a line as there definately was not one!!
Hope some of us manage to make a bit more progress before Xmas, Lindsay hope you manage to come away from your appt with something, surely she would suggest prog for a short LP? I am hoping for the same thing too.
vic glad things are better between you and DH. When is AF due for you?
lil I also need to shift some weight! You'd think the chance at making a baby would be all the motivation we would need wouldn't you! Must be strange to be going back on the pill. Hope you get in a sneaky bfp before then and can have one of those stories!

victoria401 · 09/11/2014 22:26

Hi ginger. Af due Nov 19th ish. Not 100% sure which out of the 4 days of pain I actually ovd on! Dtd loads during fertile week but not holding much hope for this month being any different. I still think we have mild male factor with the morphology results.

I'm being pulled in 2 by the longing for a little person in my life and the adult holidays and hobbies I've grown to take for granted. I was smiling the other day as I was thinking about my little one in welly boots kicking around in the fallen leaves and me saying "find the prettiest colour one for mummy!". Then last night I went to a Latin dance evening until late, my adult hobby of 13yrs! Argh! What do I want!?

Hi ladies, since digesting the news of my internal ultrasound (where I got told have only 5 follicles) I've been trying to stay off-line. It's worked a little and I'm not feeling so negative. Consultant appointment end of next week after a little holiday.

Vic - LOL to your leaf story! I was in M&S today and for some insane reason decided to look at how much nursery furniture costs. Step away from the cots!

I absolutely want to do whatever it takes to have a child, just hope something works. DH is the one with slight morally dilemmas on the IVF route, but he'll just have to go with it of that's what it takes (and he knows it!)

Good luck to everyone with your next steps.

xBlueberry88x · 10/11/2014 10:25

Sorry havent been posting much.

Not a huge amount going on with me just waiting and seeing if 2nd lot of clomid is going to work should ovulate at the end of the week.

This month im trying my hardest to stay positive but as we all know thats not easy.

I had planned to have my first baby before I was 25 and I never thought id persuade my dp to try and when he eventually said yes I was so excited and he was so worried the first time we dtd with out a condom. Nearly 2 years down the line and we still havent managed it!!

victoria401 · 10/11/2014 15:35

Did you find out the follicle number significance landy?

OP posts:
Landy10 · 10/11/2014 20:51

Hi Vic. I've not officially found out (ie not from the doctor), but apparently it correlates to your amh. With low number of follicles usually going hand in hand with low amh. I think means there less follicles means there are less eggs left, and less than can be stimulated to produce eggs during the ivf process.

Although one piece of information I am clinging to is that the count is meant to be done day 1-3. Mine was day 8. Some of follicles may have been hidden behind the ones that were big. Keeping fingers crossed about that.

I see the doctor at the end of next week so I shall post an update as I will be asking oh so many questions!

victoria401 · 10/11/2014 21:26

Have you not had your amh done?

OP posts:
lildottie · 10/11/2014 22:31

I was going to ask the same asVic. amh can be done at any time

Landy10 · 10/11/2014 22:36

It got done on that day but I have to wait till my appointment with the consultant next week to get the results. Amh wasn't one of the bloods my GP got me to do (got FSH etc they were ok). It's a long wait for this amh result!

lildottie · 10/11/2014 22:49

fx it comes back high and puts your mind at rest. when is appt?

Landy10 · 11/11/2014 07:06

Thanks - end of next week. Going on a little holiday first so time should fly in now!

GingerbreadHead · 11/11/2014 10:07

FX for you Landy my gp never actually did an amh test for me,I only ever got the day21 tests done. It's like squeezing blood out of a stone trying to make any progress with some of these Drs.
Enjoy your holiday you lucky thing, are you off anywhere nice?
Blue I have everything crossed for you that it works this time, hopefully last month was just a practice run and you will get your bfp this month. When will your first scan be?
Oh vic I love your image of a little one kicking through the leaves! I hope it comes true for you one day, but in the meantime make the most out of your latin dance classes!
Well, you know my imaginary line at 10dpo?? It may have turned into a bfp!!! Shock Grin Shock I did another IC yesterday and the line was still very faint,so went out to get some FRERs and got a positive yesterday, and again this morning! Another very faint line on an IC this morning but hopefully the FRERs are right and I am pg!! I cannot believe it. I never thought it would happen! Cycle 18, month 16, and this was the first time I tried Soya ISoflavones, so who knows if it was them, or the cocktail of supplements I was on, or the fact we managed to dtd 3 days in a row. I am so worried something is going to go wrong though, I'm a complete nervous wreck!

victoria401 · 11/11/2014 10:23

Omg ginger! That's fantastic news! How amazeballs! Fingers crossed for you that this is it! When would af have been due? That's the first milestone when that doesn't show!

OP posts:
Landy10 · 11/11/2014 10:51

Ginger - that is amazing! Massive congrats and I hope everything progresses well. I was thinking of taking Soy when new cycle starts (end of the week). What other supplements were you on? What dose of soy did you take? I'm kind of obsessed with vitamins! I'm going to Dubai and actually was worried if I took soy there they might think they were drugs and I'd end up in jail!

lildottie · 11/11/2014 11:16

wow ginger that's amazing! so happy for you! is that our 2nd or 3rd bfp in this group now? fx for an easy 9months for you.

landy I'd worry exactly the same about Dubai!

I took soy a few months when we started as my cycles were all over the place. didn't seem to do anything but I've since found out you are only supposed to take it a few days each cycle, not all cycle like I was Blush

xBlueberry88x · 11/11/2014 13:33

Ginger Congrats thats amazing news...Id be the same when I get my bfp im going to be so worried!!

Landy there is a soy thread on the conception forum have a look for it they will advise you the best doses etc.

Lil Soy is the same as clomid you take its within the first part of the cycle on different days depending on what you need.

GingerbreadHead · 11/11/2014 19:13

Thanks guys! Not sure exactly when AF was due as my cycles are between 25-29 days, but tomorrow is cd29 so if she hasn't arrived by friday then I will let out my first big sigh of relief! Got a cb digi lined up for the morning so hopefully that will put my mind at rest a bit.....
Landy lol! Try not to get yourself arrested! Yeh this last cycle I went a bit supplement mad, worried now that I should still keep taking some of them to maintain the pg, but I am taking pg vitamins so hopefully that will be enough....I took 100mg Soy cd4-8 to improve egg quality, EPO and Raspberry Leaf Tea till ov, maca capsules for a few days, magnesium, vit c, B50 complex and Seven Seas trying for a baby! I would definately recommend giving soy a go, I figured it can't hurt to try, and if it does mess with my cycles then at least I can rule it out as an option, but apparently it works!!
Blue it's just awful, I'm trying not to stress as that is the worst thing I could do, but after trying for so long it just feels so precarious and fragile!

m33r · 12/11/2014 07:58

Congratulations ginger let us know how the diggie goes!

Hope the rest of you are doing ok - I do pop in often to see how you're all doing. Thanks

victoria401 · 13/11/2014 10:02

ginger, any more news sweetie?

babydream15 · 13/11/2014 10:17

Hello everyone! Thanks for the great messages. I'm 37, DH 39. He had a daughter from previous marriage 5 yrs ago and we have been TTC for a year now with not much luck. He had one of his testicles removed 15 years ago after a horrific motorcycle accident. He has relatively normal count but the A-graded sperm motility is low. I know that he also struggled to get his ex-wife pregnant 6 yrs ago but she was able to conceive without any help within 7 months. She was 31 back then so I'm thinking maybe I'm too old for natural conception when there is a sperm quality issue. I've had blood test, swabs and HSG- so far all normal. I have very regular period and I come from a rather fertile family- mum and sisters have had multiple pregnancies. I was keeping my hopes high after HSG came back clear last month and I heard the rumour that HSG sometimes increases your chance of getting pregnant. Unfortunately I had two O since then and my period came three days ago. It is too depressing to plan anything at the moment. Should I just go for IUI/IVF without further attempts? Well enough of my rant, good luck to you all!!

victoria401 · 13/11/2014 10:46

Hi babydream, welcome to the mad house :-D sorry to hear you've also been having issues getting the elusive bfp. Has your clinic offered you iui as a suitable treatment to start? We have been offered 3 rounds of iui on the nhs which we hope to start soon. Can you get nhs treatment if your dh has already fathered a child or are you private? There are a few of us on here with male factor. lildottie was advised to go straight for ivf with their low motility. My dh has great motility but his 'normal forms' are borderline, but for some reason we've been told its good enough for iui. They're the experts! although I like to think I know lots about ttc now

So yes, anyway, welcome :-)

ooooooh ginger Grin Grin Grin So happy for you!!!! Keep us up to date!

babydream15 · 13/11/2014 14:23

Hi victoria, thanks for welcoming me! I've been concealing my newly growing obsession and frustration of ttc which made me feel lonely and down. Even my closest friends haven't got a clue that I'm ttc! It is really nice and helpful to exchange info on the website. Why haven't I done this sooner?? Smile
We went private for investigations purely to save some time. My DH travels a lot on business which makes the baby plans extremely challenging. So I thought I wouldn't waste more time waiting for the appointments to come through.
For what we gathered from our GP, we are not entitled to NHS treatment. IUI is relatively inexpensive and we are willing to give it a try. Having said that, with low motility, the success rate is lower with IUI. Sad If not successful, we are considering IVF abroad. He travels a lot to HK and Shanghai, apparently it is more affordable with higher success rate. When are you having your first IUI? Wish you lots of luck!

victoria401 · 13/11/2014 17:12

Have an appointment with the clinic in 2 weeks time where we will hopefully get a start date if we're not preg this month after HSG in last cycle of course! it won't be until Jan at earliest coz they don't start things in Dec coz of Xmas, boo, we are not shut for Xmas why should they?! (i work at the same hospital the clinic is at).

Mumsnet is great for chatting to people in the same situation coz friends, even with all the best intentions, cannot begin to understand infertility like someone going through infertility can!
