This is a thread for ladies who have been ttc longer than 10 months who have started the ball rolling with tests and treatments. We are all here to support each other though these darker days to the baby shaped light at the end of the tunnel!

its not to bad lindsay honestly just uncomfortable

Nonconformist34 · 28/10/2014 14:45

Good luck for tommorrow Lindsay you'll be fine.

I think the girls have pretty much covered everything.I would just add:
*Like Vic said, take your own sanitary unless you want a massive thick one reminiscent of me starting my periods in the 90s!

*I would combine ibuprofen with paracetamol for maximum relief

*As them to talk through what they are doing and they'll show you it on the screen.

*I dtd later on the same day, didn't find it sore or anything so up to you

*I took my own flip flops so didn't look stupid in bare legs and outdoor shoes under gown!

I'm 7dpiui now,had a blood test today. Will know in 7 days if AF arrived/BFP. Ignoring symptoms as I know the progesteron pessaries are causing them!

xBlueberry88x · 28/10/2014 15:32

Blood test showed ovulation!!

Mam31 · 28/10/2014 15:44

Good luck non, very exciting! Hope it's a pos result for you!

Hope the rest of you girls are doing ok. I'm taking a bit of a back seat with threads, still checking in on you all but not counting cycle days or plotting/planning dtd. Need a break from all the stress and obsessing.

victoria401 · 28/10/2014 15:44

What's the blood test for today non? Progesterone? Good luck for next week!

Yeah I took paracetamol and ibuprofen before just in case! Didn't feel a thing! I don't have sanitary pads, only tampons or panty liners. I took a panty liner but when they gave me this massive pad I thought uh oh maybe this wont be enough, what are they expecting to happen afterwards! So I used their pad. It would have been ok with my liner to be honest!

mama Thanks, trying to keep positive but not to get excited. Really weird to explain I suppose. When you've waited so long, you kind of get use to the monthly disappointment. Would liked to think the IUI has increased our chances but statistically it's only 20% successful, but hey, someone's got to be in the 20% :) Glad you're still popping in.

Hi vic Yes the test is for progesterone. How are you doing?

I'm away for two weeks so had to bring my pessaries,POASs,Tampons and pain relief for AF. I'm prepared for all eventualities!

victoria401 · 28/10/2014 17:10

Hope you have a nice time wherever you are going non! Bro in law got in touch the other day to see if we wanted to do a group villa hol next year. Don't know what to do :-( don't want any more regrets!

Asked on my clinics fb group if anyone got preg from iui, there were a few, some twins! I dont know if every clinic the same but there seems to be an awful lot of multiples from my clinic! Yikes! Do you know if you had 1 or 2 ripe follicles?

OP posts:
cooperG · 28/10/2014 17:35

Aw non I'm excited for you! (In a keep it under control but still excited way!) fingers crossed for you :)

lildottie · 28/10/2014 22:45

looks like things are finally starting to move forward for some of us now.

fx for a bfp non

yay for ovulation blue a positive step forward!

last day of hol today and heading home in the morning. I expect I'll return to reality with a thud!

Nonconformist34 · 28/10/2014 23:22

Vic I had two ripe follies, one right, one left ovary which were both over 1.7 mm and 10.5mm endometrial lining so who knows??

Funnily enough I've had to start putting in my holidays at work for next yr too and so having to discuss with friends and family what we plan on doing. After next week we're going to book stuff as you can't keep putting things on hold and if we did,we wouldn't have gone anywhere the last two years!

Thanks for everyone's support and words of encouragement, it really means a lot x

victoria401 · 29/10/2014 10:18

Advice needed, what would u do?! If we are possibly starting treatment (iui) in Jan do we book to go on villa holiday with bro et al?! Prob to go May/June before it gets too expensive. Don't want to regret not booking it if we don't get preg. Sigh.

OP posts:
GingerbreadHead · 29/10/2014 11:51

Still here too ladies, just still waiting, watching and hoping.

vic book it! If you do fall pregnant with IUI in January, you will still be able to go away in May, if not then a holiday would be something lovely to look forward to. Like you say, can't keep putting our lives on hold forever, you'd regret not going more if you weren't pregnant than you would if you did go and were pregnant...if that makes sense!

non so excited for you too, in a calm and sensible way. Everything crossed for you. Are you feeling ok emotionally with the drugs?

blue hurrah for ovulation! What day are you on now then?

lindsay pleased you have got your appt today, good luck with it, will be thinking of you. Let us know how you feel after it. I'm hoping to have mine sometime this century next year.

Hi again mam well done you on taking a break from it all.

I am on cd15 and setting myself up for a crashing downfall in two weeks time as I am getting my hopes up after the cocktail of supplements I am on this cycle, and we have/will be DTD at all the right times.
Finally got an appt to see my GP on friday, so will ask her if I can have day3 bloods taken, as she's never suggested to me to have them done, and to discuss the results of my ultrasound scan.

Lindsay81 · 29/10/2014 15:31

Hi all- just back from the HSG and it was absolutely fine- results good. All the set-up felt exactly like a smear and the dye pushing through is as everyone else has said, enough to make you take a sharp intake of breath but lasts like 5 seconds. I haven't bled or spotted at all, so that's good.

Was thankful for the flip flops and dressing gown advice, as I would have felt a bit weird trotting through the hospital corridors in an open-backed gown and my trainers!

Once the doctor had left, the nurse said "They tell you to abstain for the next couple of weeks but it's a load of cr@p (LOL!). What we've done is like clearing a path so have a good go at it this month"

I am still 100% sure I have some hormonal imbalance though (creating the short LP), as we always have "a good go at it" and it still hasn't happened! So now waiting for the next appointment with the specialist, now that all the tests are complete (and normal).

Always waiting for something! Waiting, shagging, waiting, shagging [repeat until you go crazy]

victoria Book it. I have had 2 x holidays like that in the time we have been TTC and it was DH who convinced me just to do it as we might still be waiting. He was right.
Hopefully you get PG and if so, you would still be able to go. If it is a financial worry, these things always seem to work themselves out somehow, I find.

GingerbreadHead · 29/10/2014 15:39

Ooh Lindsay I like that advice about financial concerns, we haven't had a holiday in literally years as we always think we can't afford it, I'm tempted to go away somewhere next spring as I feel like I really bloody need a holiday and hope we conceive a lovely holiday baby whilst there so maybe I should just book it and deal with the £ consequences!
Glad your HSG went well and wasn't as bad as expected, did they tell you there and then if your tubes were clear and everything looked ok?
Have they suggested progesterone to you as a next step? A lady I 'knew' from another thread was trying for 12+months, was given prog cream and got her BFP straight away!

xBlueberry88x · 29/10/2014 15:48

afternoon ladies,

lindsay glad hsg was fine...I was told to jump on dp straight away

thanks lil and ginger im 9dpo today had cramps since ovulation only mild, really sore boobs, sneezing loads and constipation (tmi I know).

vicky id book it you would still be able to go

non fx for you!!

Lindsay81 · 29/10/2014 16:28

Hi ginger Yeah, book a holiday. I'm not saying do something mental and go 5* to the Maldives for a month (LOL!) but even something in the country or a ryanair flight somewhere cheap for a couple of nights will do you the world of good. On our death beds, (sorry to be morbid!) we are unlikely to regret the things we have done, only NOT doing certain things :-)

At the HSG, they tell you then and there and show you the x-ray pictures so that's good. Tubes all open and clear. I'll see what the fertility specialist says about the next steps, she wanted to get all the tests out the way first. My progesterone results from my 2 x 21 day bloods were 20 (not so good) and 34 (OK) so I'm not sure if she might want to supplement that? I have tried progesterone cream that I bought online but it didn't seem to make much difference, don't know if the stuff from them might be better.

God knows how long it will take to see her though!

Nonconformist34 · 29/10/2014 21:34

LindsaySo pleased it went well for you, glad the tips helped! Hope your appointment comes through soon.

Vic Just book the holiday, always good to have something to look forward to.

Ginger I'm not normally one to have PMT but it's been an emotional few weeks, feeling angst at the least little thing plus have been soooo tired (all side effects of the drugs). I did warn DH though! The weird symptom is really tender nipples, they hurt washing myself in the shower (tender breasts are another side effect).

If the IUI doesn't work, we'll do our other 2 cycles in the new year. I have to say it's not been that bad at all and wouldn't be put off doing it again.

victoria401 · 30/10/2014 06:47

I had another dream about treatment last night. I had to be completely starkers while they did this wierd body scan which checked my organs for preg suitability. Then I was shown the living quarters we had to stay in on the hospital site whilst having treatment (like a hippy commune with bowls of healthy soup!). Then the lopped off a chunk of my own tissue to practice sticking needles into before I could be let loose on my actual body which I had to keep in the freezer to stop it going off! I need to get out more!

Glad the hsg was ok Lindsay x

OP posts:
GingerbreadHead · 30/10/2014 07:35

Bloody hell vic!! Sounds more like a nightmare, although I like the idea of the hippy commune living quarters Grin Guess it can only get better in reality if that is what your subconscious is expecting!
Glad you haven't found it too bad non, and I guess some side effects are to expected. Really hope this one works for you, do you have to POAS yourself or will you go to them to find out if it's bfn/bfp?
Lindsay good news that everything is all clear, but it's so frustrating when they can't find a reason isn't it. Shame the prog cream didn't work for you. Fingers crossed for you that it is just a hormone thing and will be a quick fix.
Well I had a smiley face on a CB yesterday, but just got an empty circle this morning. Do you think I can still count it as ovulation? I was getting some pretty strong cramps yesterday, and had ewcm a few days ago, but I do normally get more than one day of +ve opks........Hmm

Lindsay81 · 30/10/2014 07:50

OMG victoria I am giggling into my cuppa while reading your dream!!!! LMAO!

lildottie · 30/10/2014 09:07

ginger I'd say its ov. I vary between getting one + opks and 2 I'm s cycle.

Vic definitely book it. better to boom it and go pg/cancel than to not book and wish you had. lol at your dream too. oh dear!

Lindsay glad the hsg went well. I have irregular cycles but after hsg I ovulated earliest I have since stopping pill. normally cd20 but was cd14 that month. couldn't have happened on a better cycle as we were told not to try so didn't. was glad not to have to wait an extra week to get back on the wagon!

looks like I've ovulated early this month too cd15 or cd16. which is Sad. because I needed it to be CD 18 earliest so AF due on or after 16/11. as that's date I can phone clinic from on cd1 to start bcp. will have to see what temp does next few days and worry about it then I guess.

Lindsay81 · 30/10/2014 20:08

lil it's really funny you say that because I have had the start if my usual ov signs today and that us waaaaaay early for me. I've given up OPKs so can't double check but just gonna carry on with the DTD and hope for the best. I'm away with work next week so an early ov would suit me!

lildottie · 30/10/2014 21:00

fx then linds. I'm thinking my temp may be a freak high as ov pain has started tonight SBD had +opks at 3pm. ov tomorrow would put cd1 of next cycle perfectly into the clinics dates to call. crossing everything!

Lindsay81 · 30/10/2014 22:21

fingers crossed for you too lil!

Landy10 · 31/10/2014 17:18

That's great news on Ov Blue!

Non - your 2ww must be nearly at an end. Good luck!

Victoria - I agree with everyone else re booking the holiday. Do it. I'm going away next week and it meant my appointment with the fertility consultant is delayed a week but hey ho it's only a week.

Lil - hope you ov'd today and it makes your dates work out.

I've been taking a back seat as I was doing some research after my antral follicle count scan. According to google getting told you only have 5 is diminished ovarian failure. So been totally gutted about this. See the fertility doctor in 3 weeks and i am seriously scared. Get my Amh and DH latest semen analysis results. DH re-action to only having 5 follicles was "well at least there are 5". Not overly helpful. I think he is still in denial there is a problem. I'm trying to forget about this until we get official results from the doctor but not managing very well!

Have a good weekend everyone.
