This is a thread for ladies who have been ttc longer than 10 months who have started the ball rolling with tests and treatments. We are all here to support each other though these darker days to the baby shaped light at the end of the tunnel!

Vic that's fab. so glad you are both back on the same page. I think amh range is 17-40 if I remember correctly. mine was 40.

welcome Lucie and Lucifer. I'd say go to Dr and request bloods and sa but be prepared to be turned away - or be able to lie about how long you've been trying. its taken 12 months from seeing Dr until date I will be starting ivf so can't hurt to try getting the ball rolling.

blue drinking more can only be a good thing. fx those ovaries start rattling well!

lucieloos · 16/10/2014 18:12

Hi victoria, good luck with your amh results. I think anything over 15 is satisfactory but around 25+ is optimal. They said the average for my age (35) was around 10-12 so I am below average for my age and have low reserves so need to get a move on!

DH did his first SA at one of the rooms in the clinic and the result was a lot better but the volume of the sample was slightly under which is why we thought if he did the second one at home that might improve which it did massively but the motility took a huge nosedive which is why we are wondering if it is anything to do with the length of time it took for them to look at the sample. I know the first one was carried out in about 15mins. He is going to produce the final sample back at the clinic again.

Hi Blueberry, yes thought I would hop across and join you lovely ladies x

Landy10 · 16/10/2014 21:01

Hi everyone.
Can I join you guys?
Sounds like I'm at a similar-ish stage to many of you. Seen the GP, had the blood tests, hubby had the first analysis. All seems fairly normal apparently. GP referred us to FC.

DH has second sperm analysis on Tuesday (required by the FC) and I've to go in for tests on Wed. I have no idea which tests as the lady I spoke to on the phone just told me I needed tests before we can come back and see the doctor. When I asked what tests I got told "I don't know the doctor decides"!

Anyway looking forward to getting to know all your stories and sharing this rather irritating journey with you!

xBlueberry88x · 16/10/2014 21:25

Welcome lucifer it wont hurt to fib a bit its only a couple of months and it takes ages to get any where through gp and then fertility clinic

Welcome landy i expect fertility clinic will do more blood tests i can another set of day 3 and day 21 when we were sent to fertility clinic gp had already done 3 months worth.
I expect they will do an internal ultrasound (dildo cam) and put you forward to have a hsg to check your tubes.
After that the decide where to go next i was put on clomid.

Well ladies i have cramps on and off at the mo come on ovaries!

lildottie · 16/10/2014 22:49

shaking pom POM's for your ovaries here blue give me an E, give me a G, and another G

lucifermourning · 17/10/2014 09:15

yeah, i might exaggerate a little on the timings - got a GP appointment on saturday for other reasons so can't hurt to see if they'll start the ball rolling? by the time we actually get referred it probably will be a year!

victoria401 · 17/10/2014 10:12

Don't expect things to happen too quickly Lucifer I think its the average to have tests etc for around 8 months! Unfortunately I couldn't lie about the time trying as I had an implant in for contraception and its in my doctors notes what date I had it removed! If the docs don't know when you stopped any forms of contraception deffo say you've been trying a year!

Hi ladies, and welcome to the newbies, though I'm sorry you have to join our club.

Fx your ovaries are their job right now blue, sounds like you have some promising signs.

vic I'm glad to hear things are better between you and DH again. This whole process is so stressful it really takes its toll, and it's easy to let feelings and emotions built up and get on top of you.

AF got me today, but I was expecting her as my temp dropped a couple of days ago. Interestingly I've not had the usual pre-AF day of spotting this month, and so far the cramps are pretty bearable too. I've only been to two acupuncture sessions but the lady said these are issues she could help with, so I'm wondering whether it's already starting to work... Hmm

In other news, DH has been referred for SA at a hospital that's a 1.5 hour drive away, and as the sample has to be handed in within 2 hours he's planning on driving over there and then 'producing' it in the hospital toilets! Shock

lucifermourning · 17/10/2014 10:46

had my Mirena removed 3 months before we started trying, so they won't know when i stopped the pill!

and yeah, i figured referrals must take ages, hence wanting to get started. if i manage to get pregnant while waiting, no harm done by asking and if i don't, at least we'll be on the list!

Nonconformist34 · 17/10/2014 13:19

Hi to the newbies and everyone else! I would definitely recommend altering the truth of time ttc if you can. I did and have just started treatment. If I followed the NHS protocol I would not be referred until March 2015!

Vic pleased things have improved between you and DH, I knew they would as we all go through those tough times with other halves.

I've done 5 days of injections (gonal-f) for my IUI with scans today with hope of insemination next week. I've joined an IUI talk in the infertility section of MN where I go into more detail about my follicle size and details of treatment. I seem to be the only one on this thread at this point of treatment and don't want to go on about it when you're all waiting for tests, results and referrals. Please let me know if you want me to detail anything for you or any questions if it's the route you may be going down.

Landy10 · 17/10/2014 17:33

Thanks for the welcome!
Nonconformist - it's Great that you have started treatment. Did you get put straight on iui or have chlomid first? I know I ovulate but for some reason I think they might still say to go on it.
Lucifer - I went to the GP in July and then had day 3 and 21 tests in August (Dh had semen analysis too). Got referred at start September and had the day 21 repeated in September. Next week I go to the clinic for "tests" and see the doctor after these. For me it seems to have happened quite quick. To be honest i would actually just like to speak to a doctor who has a clue (as lovely as GP was I'm pretty sure I know more about how all this works than she did)!

Have lovely weekends everyone! I will be enjoying some vino tonight seeing as I'm on CD2!

lildottie · 17/10/2014 20:11

non that's so exciting! really hoping it works first time for you.

landy why do you think they will give clomid if you are ovulating? don't they give clomid to bring on ovulation in people who aren't ovulating?

Metalhead · 18/10/2014 13:26

Good luck for next week non, exciting times for you!

I got my referral letter today, got my appointment with the fertility clinic on 24 November.

lildottie · 18/10/2014 14:47

wohoo metal bet it feels nice to have a date!

Nonconformist34 · 18/10/2014 21:17

landy I'm ovulating fine so no need for clomid, just on gonal-f injections which boost FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) so you ideally have more than 1 follicle per IUI cycle to increase your chances.

victoria401 · 20/10/2014 12:26

Urgh af pains with avengance today. Wasn't even expecting a visit until Thursday! Means I have a short lp this month, I blame the hsg :-(

Plucking up the courage to call the clinic to make another appointment. Snuck a peak at my amh results earlier and its 22.7. I think that's good?!

OP posts:
lildottie · 20/10/2014 13:23

why dies she have to be such a total witch AND come early! good luck with phoning the clinic Vic. only do it if you are happy to. you don't have to rush x

AF just headed out here so time to get shagging! perfectly timed as we go on holiday on Wednesday Grin

xBlueberry88x · 20/10/2014 14:23

Good to see a few appointments and time frames to start exciting things!!

Vicky Sorry AF got you early!! HSG didnt change my cycle at all.

Scan tomorrow have really bad cramps so im hoping im actually ovulating so its worth it. My god its hurts!

victoria401 · 20/10/2014 15:52

I don't mind getting af early blue! Best get it over with and then start shagging as lilput it! Lol!

I phoned the clinic, 6 week waiting list to see evil dragon lady (ie. Fertility doctor, how and why she got into this sensitive field of medicine I don't know!). So appointment end of November. That means won't be able to start any treatment until the New Year as they don't start stuff in December. I knew there would be this wait so I might as well get on the list. Still have 2 or 3 natural post hsg cycles to get preg in and cancel treatment ;-)

OP posts:
victoria401 · 20/10/2014 15:54

Pressed too soon, meant to add good luck with scan blue and have a nice holiday lil!

Love to all x

OP posts:
Metalhead · 20/10/2014 17:16

Sorry about AF vic, but good for you to get another appointment booked. Hopefully you won't need it as you'll be pregnant by then! Smile

Ov pain sucks doesn't it blue, I usually get it quite bad too. Good luck with your scan tomorrow.

lil hope you have a nice holiday, I'm off for a week as well on Saturday, looking forward to some distraction from this whole sorry ttc business.

Can I ask those of you who've had an HSG, does it have to be done at a certain time in your cycle and how long did you have to wait for your appointment? Just wondering if I'm likely to get it done before Xmas if they decide to do one, seeing as my date with the fertility clinic isn't until 24 November.

If it's not, I'm sorely tempted to make a private appointment with the Asherman's specialist in London... I'm back to being convinced that that's what's wrong with me as this AF has been ridiculously light again compared to what it was pre-mc.

lildottie · 20/10/2014 18:37

metal I had to have mine done at least 24hours after bleeding stopped but before cd10. some places say cd12.

xBlueberry88x · 20/10/2014 21:49

metal i hate cramps and these have been horrible they've died down a bit now justca dull back ache.
HSG had to be done before ovulation normally around cd10 ish

lil enjoy your holiday

Metalhead · 21/10/2014 07:57

Thanks ladies, I might be in with a chance then as my appointment should be at the beginning of a new cycle.

Landy10 · 21/10/2014 08:18

Blueberry-sounds like good ov feelings. Can they tell if you have ov'd at the scan? Hope it goes well.
Non - thanks for the info that's interesting.
Vic-that's a good way to look at waiting, just another couple of attempts.
I had 2 months of day 21 bloods and got 28 first month then 48 second month. So second month confirmed ov, first one not. I get AF every 26-28 days so I am pretty sure I ov. The weird thing is I don't get temp rise when I think I ov - get gradual rises for first 4ish days after ov and then it's much higher. TCOYF says that happens to some and FF still says oving. Not sure why I am trying to guess if they will give me chlomid. Oh well at least I'm starting the appointments tomorrow even if I won't see a doctor! DH is taking his second sample in as I write this!
