This is a thread for ladies who have been ttc longer than 10 months who have started the ball rolling with tests and treatments. We are all here to support each other though these darker days to the baby shaped light at the end of the tunnel!

After reading that so many of you are making progress with appointments and fertility clinics, or hoping to start IVF before Christmas I am becoming more and more frustrated with this waiting game I am still playing! I always knew that the waits would be long and this would be a slow game, but this is just getting ridiculous. My GP is totally unhelpful, makes me wonder if she is also having fertility issues and is being purposefully cruel HmmTerrible for me to think that I know! I'm just sick of the whole bloody thing, constantly ringing them and having to do all the leg work myself, after all this time there is clearly an issue at hand so I can't understand why she isn't helping me more. Rant over. Will call them back again later.

MrsE congratulations! Finally another BFP for us! I am definitely going to be taking some SI next cycle. It certainly can't hurt anyway. Hope it all goes boringly well for you.
metal glad you managed to persuade your Dr you knew what you were talking about, and hope the results are all good too.
mam I'm so sorry you got a disappointing result, that is just rubbish, you have been so hopeful and positive all this time you deserve to have had your BFP by now. Hopefully the vitC will make a big difference, but at least you are now on the right path with the referral.
lil I love your analogy for assisted conception!! I know what you all mean, it feels utterly shit that we can't seem to do the one thing that we are designed to do, but we should be grateful that modern day medicine gives us more of a fighting chance.
Blue sorry about AFs arrival, and late too, how cruel. Hope you are treating yourself well at the mo, and good luck with the clomid. Don't get your hopes up that it will happen straight away, but I have high hopes for you that you will be our next BFP Smile
vic good luck for your app today, and like others have said, no pressure, it's just a Q and A game at this point. lil hope your app went well, let us know how you both got on.
Sorry to any others that AF got, and welcome to the newbies, sorry to see you here though!
Oh, and keep forgetting to tell you all, a friend of a friend just got her BFP after round two of IVF and trying for 2 years Grin

lildottie · 08/10/2014 13:56

ginger it may be a fight now but once you are under the clinic, although still plenty of waiting, it will be much more efficient in my experience. fx you get the referral soon. Can you self refer? Or see a different GP?

Well I've come back from the clinic feeling really good. We will have one more natural cycle next month to give it our best shot before I go on BCP in November. Injections will start 28th December and I have my dates for 3 pre egg collection scans. Egg collection will be w/c 26th January.

As well as going through the procedure, discussing our treatment plan and asking our questions we also had to both have blood taken to test for HIV and Hep B and a couple of other things. This is so they can be sure there are no viruses in the lab apparently. We just had to go to outpatients department, pull off a ticket each like at the deli counter and wait! Simples!

I also asked her where I could get the acupuncture done and she has given me the names of 2 midwives who do it here so going to look into that.

It may still be months away and more waiting but I feel so much happier now I have a definite start date - although that assumes af plays ball. I have to call them on day 1 between 16th November and 19th December. That will be fine if I ov CD18+ like I normally do, but anything before will throw it out. I assume they will just put me on the pill longer but i'm hoping I don't need to find out and stress over it!

lildottie · 08/10/2014 13:56

Oh, and i'll be on long protocol :)

xBlueberry88x · 08/10/2014 14:56

Afternoon Ladies,

Sorry I didnt answer anyone yesterday I was feeling sorry for myself!!

Welcome Bezza It took a couple of months to get our gynae app but ive heard it varies alot!

Vicky I hope your appointment goes well, I was so nervous for all my appointments so I know how you feel but its nothing to worry about!

Cooper Good luck with your appointment tomorrow! please let us know how it goes.

KL Glad you found us!! Everyone has covered your questions, my advise is go armed with lots of questions and a list of things you know weve all been tested for on here so that your doc doesnt miss anything. They dont tend to know much. Mine is obsessed with the fact I need to lose a few kilos but I managed to get around that!!

Metal I know and im so annoyed I tested I knew it wasnt a possibility to the girls on the buses had so much hope for me.

Ginger patience is definately the only way to deal with all of this and mine is wearing thin...keep on at them its all you can do!
I have no hopes for anything dont worry!!

Lil Good to see some dates from you I bet its so nice to see things happening now. FX everything goes to plan and AF appears when shes supposed to!!

Taking my first clomid tablet today going to do them before bed because ive heard that it helps some people to avoid some of the side effects so we shall see.

lildottie · 08/10/2014 16:11

You're allowed to feel sorry for yourself for a day or two blue it's shit every time no matter how long you've been at it! Hopefully you can start focussing on the fact you have started the clomid now though and look forward. It may not happen this cycle, but there is a good chance it could happen in the next few. fx for you.

victoria401 · 08/10/2014 18:39

I don't know if I did the right thing or not, I freaked out! You know how I've been feeling this week yes? Well we were offered our 3 rounds of iui by the doctor and I said I've got cold feet, much to dh's surprise as I'd not told him how I've been feeling. She's given us 3 months to make our minds up and an open ticket to see her again in Jan/Feb time. Not got time to explain all right now. Dh says he doesn't want to talk about it :-(

Awh Vic sounds like you have had a stressful day. I totally understand though, soon as IVF was mentioned as our best option, I felt like I didn't want it! It's so overwhelming and taking time to think things over but with treatment as a back up is a good option. Hugs to you, it's so draining x

Mam31 · 08/10/2014 21:29

Lil sounds like your app went well and you are pleased with the outcome that's great x

lildottie · 08/10/2014 22:25

Vic I've pmd you chick. hugs xx

Lauraqc · 08/10/2014 23:07

Vic so proud of you if that's how you feel - must've taken courage to say that. You've got the time to think your way around it all now.

Welcome KL...good advice already from the lovely ladies on here!

Lil very excited for you, not long now!!!

Hope everyone else is well...I've just taken my first soya isoflavone tablet tonight after no af again for 5 weeks...

KL24 · 09/10/2014 00:24

Thank you lindsay for the two four sound pieces of advice.
lil not done temp yet - this weekends shopping trip - are you using a std thermometer or this basel variety I keep hearing mentioned?? OPKS started last cycle (seriously stalking a BFP now Grin ).
Blueberry luckily my weight is just inside the 30 BMI but still could do with loosing a few lbs myself hope its not mentioned or i may be tempted to inquire if 'fat' is a contraceptive these days lol.

So much to learn! - I'm work away a few days a week so hotel evenings on my own are giving me an ideal opportunity to swop up on the subject, get all my info together!

Lauraqc · 09/10/2014 08:11

Morning all - revisiting the soya tablet question from last night. As you know I've had irregular cycles but the last 2 in July and Aug were 3 weeks apart to the day. Now it's been 5 weeks (several BFNs). Was I meant to wait until my 'natural' af started - in which case waiting practically forever - or was I right to just crack on like I did and give it a bash?! It's 100mg and I think I'm meant to take it for about 5 days and then await af glory...? Any help massively appreciated!

lildottie · 09/10/2014 10:11

sorry Laura I have no knowledge on Si I'm afraid.

kl it needs to be a basal body thermometer - bbt - as that reads to 2 decimal places. I got mine off Amazon for £3is. it stores temp until I take next one so I can temp then go straight back to sleep! if u want the link let me know.

Metalhead · 09/10/2014 13:03

lil I'm glad your appointment went well. And how exciting that you've now got some dates to move forward! I hope everything goes according to plan.

vic if you weren't sure then you did the right thing, and it's not like you've closed the door on anything for good. It is a big thing to out yourself through after all.

laura I've read about people taking soy mid cycle to bring on AF, just be aware that it might not work. Usually you take at the start of a new cycle after AF.

I had my third progesterone test today, hopefully it will confirm that I did ovulate. Going backwards and forwards to get my blood taken has actually really helped distract fro symptom spotting during this 2ww! Or maybe it's because I've already written this cycle off as I ov'd so late.

GingerbreadHead · 09/10/2014 13:41

vic I also think it's a very admirable thing to have done. You have had your doubts and not been feeling too good about it all, so I think it's a very good idea to give yourself some time to think it over and decide what you want to do/put yourself through. How are you and DH now? Have you managed to discuss it at all? I imagine he must have been a bit shocked to hear you say that, but these men really don't understand all of the intricacies involved and the tidalwaves of emotions associated with ttc, not to mention they don't have to stab themselves with drugs!
metal when will you get the results from the test? Glad you have been able to take your mind off it a bit this month!
KL as others have said really, I got my bbt from amazon too for less than a fiver. Good luck with all the new and exciting charting!
Laura I'm afraid I don't know much about using Soy to bring on AF, have you consulted Dr google? I think there is something else you can take too to bring on AF, but the name escapes me now.....
lil so pleased for you with your progress! You have actual dates when things are going to start happening! Yey! Everything crossed for a 2015 baby for you Smile I will go back once more to chat to my Dr, and really explain to her this is just getting ridiculous, and push for day 3 tests too, should they be day 3, or 1,2 or 5? I have heard of lots of ladies doing different days! I can get a referral to see private fert specialist, but at a cost of course. I'm concerned now too that I am just waiting on a gynae appointment, there doesn't seem to be any mention of a fertility clinic, I guess they just use the gynae as fertility specialists? Am I missing something here or does it just work in different ways in different areas of the country?!
blue I have read that taking it before bed is the best way too. What dose are you on? How many days do you take them for? when will your first scan be? Sorry, all these q's! Hope you are feeling a bit brighter today.

xBlueberry88x · 09/10/2014 14:55

Afternoon Ladies,

Vicky wow I didnt expect to read that are you okay? what made you do that? If its what you wanted at that moment then it is right hun, You havent stopped anything you can still go back.

Laura As far as I know you take the soya tablets like clomid so usually days 2-6 of your cycle or something similar.

Metal FX the blood test showed ovulation!!

Ginger I have to take the tablets from day 2-6 ive got 50mg at the moment. They are supposed to scan between day 10 and 14 to see if I have to many eggs or none at all or just right. Feeling a bit better ta.

Right ladies Im freaking out right now and probably for no reason but I need some advise.

The scan is supposed to be carried out just before you ovulate so that they can see how many eggs and be produced, if there are to many they tell you not to try as there is to much risk.
I called yesterday to book my scan in and they didnt give me a date till today. The only day they can do it is day 15 and therefore I should have already ovulated (even though the doc told the receptionist this is fine).
So what if the tablets over stimulate me and I end up with loads of eggs and I dont know, I cant not try up until that time because ill miss ovulation.
Argh what do I do?????

lildottie · 09/10/2014 15:53

blue don't panic. 50ml is a low dose so that's probably why they aren't worried. plus you may not ovulate by day 14 anyway. if the Dr isn't worried you shouldn't be. get shagging!

Momunnymoproblems · 09/10/2014 17:46

Hi everyone, hope it's not too late for me to join in!

I'm 31, DH is 32. I came off the pill in April 13 and have been ttc pretty much ever since so 15/16 cycles. OPKs seem to indicate I'm oving and I did have an issue with luteal phase but fingers crossed I've fixed it with a progesterone cream.

Just booked an AMH test for me and a SA for DH for 20th oct.

Need a place to talk about all this so hope I've found my thread Smile

Mam31 · 09/10/2014 18:24

Welcome mo, of course you can join! It helps to analyse every detail on here and to gain support from others who actually understand. Good luck with your tests!

lildottie · 09/10/2014 19:10

welcome no. are you having d21 progesterone test with amh?

Lauraqc · 09/10/2014 19:35

Thanks all - have felt ok taking it today so will carry on I think and hope it induces af...

Welcome Mo yep we like to talk a lot on here :) a very supportive bunch!

cooperG · 09/10/2014 20:19

Evening all. So my appointment wasn't exactly what I expected.
she asked me if I'd taken the clomid as soon as I sat down and I said no, as I was concerned about no monitoring. She said they don't offer any monitoring, just a day 21 test to check ov happened.
I then asked whether my tests should be repeated as my periods have been getting shorter - no, it's not a problem.
Told her about family history of early menopause, tests need repeating? No, no problem, just go and take clomid.
Are your cycles regular? Kind of, but day 25 now and not ov'd yet. How do you know you've not ov'd? I'm Temping. Stop temping! No ov tests, no temping, just have sex 2-3 times a week, relax and stop stressing and take the clomid and you'll conceive. I then burst into tears... Sad

She then seemed to feel bad and started being nicer, so I guess I have to take the clomid with no monitoring and see how I go, I've gotta go back in 4 months. I don't know if I want to stop temping though, I feel like I need to know what's going on, even if it does stress me out.. Argh!! BlushSad

Sorry for the me me me post, I'll have calmed down by tomorrow, hope everyone's ok Thanks

Lauraqc · 09/10/2014 22:51

Hey Cooper I think we've all got to a point on here where it's got too much for us. I think you should take a deep breath, shut your eyes and make the leap! Take the Clomid and get sexing and try and forget about any other outside pressure! You've got a really good 4 month run of it and you should defo make the most of it...got everything crossed for you!

lildottie · 09/10/2014 22:59

cooper sorry she was not very understanding. I'm like you with temping....I need to know! if it helps you I'd carry on but just don't mention it to her again. have you had amh/FSH tests done before? what were the levels? I imagine they don't see any point repeating as a) the course of treatment won't change b) they can't stop you going into menopause? (I'm guessing). fx the clomid works for you and the nightmare can be over.
