Cheesymonster · 02/07/2014 07:29

Hi everyone. We're trying for our second, we have a DD who's 20 months. I'm on cycle number 4. I'm 39 this year and really feel like the clock is ticking but trying so hard not to get stressed! And is it me, or are pregnant women EVERYWHERE? A friend is finally pg after IVF and I'm so happy for her but when she was talking to me the other day, I just burst into tears!

Fingers crossed for us all Smile

ZebraZeebra · 02/07/2014 07:39

smogsville thank you so much. I'm so nervous but trying hard to think "what will be, will be".

cheesymonster oh big hugs, it's so hard when you're torn between being so happy for your friend but so sad/ disappointed for yourself. I understand where you're coming from about being 39 but try not to think about it too much...these boards and MN as a whole testify to how common it is to have a baby much later than that!

fishfingerSarnies · 02/07/2014 07:53

Hey, ttc baby #2, dd will be 2 in august, had implant out in may so think I'm on cycle 2?
Last time it happened in a week so was (stupidly) surprised to have af.
Really don't want to get caught up in temperatures or looking at mucus or having sex at certain times in the month etc... Hoping to keep it fun.
Would be nice to have some people to chat to though. People to help talk me out of poas unless I'm at least a week late! Please! Last month I pissed on everything! Had Al sorts of symptoms last month a little bleed in the middle of my cycle, sore books even was sick a couple of mornings and went off drinking tea, thought I was defos up the duff. Trying not to symptom spot this month.

ladyflower23 · 02/07/2014 08:03

I always thought it was meant to be easier to get pregnant second time round, but maybe that only applies if it was hard the first time! Seems like there are a lot of us in the same boat. I too hope we see some BFPs on here soon to give us hope that no.2 is possible.
fishfingers I think it is scarily easy to make your body have symptoms, just by trying to spot them. I am really annoying myself by looking out for them, because I didn't have any till after my missed period last time, so I don't know why I am expecting an onslaught this time round! Well done keeping it fun. I have given in to the OPKs now. Enjoying all the extra POAS I get to do though Grin

Bobs76 · 02/07/2014 08:12

Hi Cheesymonster, I totally know how you feel I'm 38 in just over a week & I was 36 when we started trying for our second last January. Everywhere I go people are pregnant.

Bobs76 · 02/07/2014 08:17

I'm the same fishfingers looking for symptoms each month & I drive myself mad! It's hard because some pregnancy symptoms are same as pre-period symptoms like sore boobs, also I had spotting when I was pregnant last time around the time my period was due.

ladyflower23 · 02/07/2014 08:18

Oh yeh, forgot to say, every time I turn my head there is a pregnant woman. They are out in force this summer.

fishfingerSarnies · 02/07/2014 08:25

It makes you a bit crazy doesn't it, you try not to think about it but you can't help thinking every little ache pain or slight feeling of queezy is an imminent BFP. Good luck ladies let's try help each other keep the crazy at bay.

I have a question what's the 2 week window? I've been stalking round the conception pages for a while and there's a lit I don't understand.

pinpan · 02/07/2014 10:27

I'm the same as all of you too! DD is 21 months and I'm on cycle 3 (though 1st cycle we probably made the decision too late to catch ovulation anyway). Happened 2nd cycle last time, and I hardly --obsessed-worried about it at all. Slightly crazier this time! DD was/is a shocking sleeper so I'm still a bit Shock about having made the decision to TTC again already, but I love having my own brother and I want that for her too so needs must. Grin

Cheesymonster · 02/07/2014 10:37

Thank you zebra Thanks

Symptom spotting is a bastard!!

KeeperOfTheZoo · 02/07/2014 11:00

Hi all, I've been lurking in the background of MN since falling pregnant with my first but this is my first post - decided to be a more active lurker this time around!

I have a gorgeous DS who was 2 last weekend and we have just started TTC number 2. I would've started earlier but hubby wasn't ready until now - the minute he said he was I had stocked up on the folic acid and chucked that last pack of pills that I now no longer need! Concious of my age though (just turned 36) and scared it won't happen as quickly this time around. First time we caught after about 3 months - no temp checking/ov tests etc, just DTD every other day (seemed to take the pressure off a bit, not knowing if it was "the right time"). Worked for us then so we'll be doing the same this time around too.

Good luck to all on this thread, here's to a rush of quick BFPs!! Smile

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 02/07/2014 11:02

Hi everyone, can I join in on this too! We have been ttc number 2 for 12 months now, when we first started I was so worried it wouldn't happen straight away and we would have problems, and I can't believe it has actually come true Sad. I'm terrified of secondary infertility and DD being an only child, I always wanted to have 4 children. I have been on a ttc no.2 thread since last year and they are all now having their babies or due very soon, and I am still sat here with not even a whiff of a BFP. Anyway, sorry to be a downer, just wanted to say hello and yes I am the same driving myself crazy every month despite my best efforts to not get obsessed over it! DD is 2.7 and was conceived month 2 of trying, so cannot understand why it is not happening this time! Good luck to all and I hope we see lots of BFPs on this thread!

Eddiethehorse · 02/07/2014 11:13

Im jumping in.....I have a gorgeous 21 month dd and we really want another to add to our little family. We have been TTC since a MC in Nov and not getting anywhere. I am 39 and 4 months so feel time is against me! I have seen my dr today who said all my blood tests are perfect and whilst im knocking on age wise, my insides are actually working, i just need to relax and stop stressing. I should add im on Femara and this is cycle number3! Today I start acupuncture! How the hell im supposed to relax and stop stressing I have no idea!?! Good luck everyone!

weeblueberry · 02/07/2014 11:39

Joining in ladies! DD is 14 months and we're starting to try this month since I suspect it will take a while. We got pregnant quite easily last time (month two of actually trying iykwim?) so I'm guessing this time I won't be so lucky!

Thing is that we've got a massive family gathering in Corfu next summer so I don't want to have literally just dropped or be about to when we go in July/August. So we're going to try this next couple of months then if nothing happens, wait another 4 or 5 months before trying again.

I'm a couple of stone heavier than last time too (damn baby weight) so not sure if that will affect my fertility. If we do end up waiting another few months it will give me time to shift it I guess. Silver linings both ways!!

So I'm due to ovulate on Monday (according to my app!) and we've got a pack of ovulation kits saved from last time that we never even got a chance to use. DP suggested 'full coverage trying' ;) so we'll maybe give that a go too.

Good luck all!

MaximoosesMum · 02/07/2014 13:44

Can I join?
This is our first cycle of trying.
DS is 18mo, he was a surprise baby after an ectopic pregnancy.
I feel incredibly lucky to have my DS, and wonder if maybe that's it, but would love to give him a sibling.
Trying not to get too obsessed, but now I want to see what apps you can get!!!

weeblueberry · 02/07/2014 13:55

Hi Maxi - the app I use is called My Days and it's for iOS. I used it last time and it was great. You can pop in your period dates and it will estimate ovulation dates from that. The longer you use it the more accurate it gets to pin pointing your ovulation dates (unless you're bang on a 28 day schedule in which case it would probably be very accurate from the get go). You can also note when you had sex, your cervical mucas levels and your temperature. :)

It was most useful to me when I had my DD because they used my last period date to get a due date whereas I was fairly certain of my conception date. Lets just say I was right and she was born on the exact day I said she would (4 days after the midwife suggested).

:)

Justpickagoddamnname · 02/07/2014 15:41

Hullo all, can I just reassure all the post 35 years ladies that fertility does not really decline after 35. I heard a fertility expert say that the stats claiming it does are based on figures from women in 18th century France! Better more up to date research shows only very negligible slow down in fertility until age 40. Very limited research he said in women over 40 but this does show a slow down in fertility, but even then it is a slow down not a full stop. Plenty of women conceive naturally aged 40 plus after all.

Eddiethehorse · 02/07/2014 17:26

Just had acupuncture.....wowsers....haven't felt that relaxed since my student days! If it dosnt help me get pregnant, I've found something incredible....but it will help!

Life2012 · 02/07/2014 18:01

maximooses same here my DS was a lovely surprise he's now 22 months old and we've been TTC number 2 for 2 months!! If you're looking for a free app can I suggest KINDARA for iOS ? I'm using it and finding it useful Smile

I agree with fishfinger I'm getting (or imaging more like) every symptom imaginable as I approach AF. I am obsessed with POAS and now that I bought a bunch of cheap PTs from amazon my addiction has gone into overdrive Confused

My AF is supped to come next Tuesday I'm testing daily with FMU but so far no luck... I'm losing hope for this cycle too but I know it's still early days

COME ON WHO IS GONNA SHARE THE FIRST BFP OF THIS THREAD?!

Life2012 · 02/07/2014 18:02

Eddie I read somewhere that it's supposed to really help a you must keep us updated on how you get on?!

MaximoosesMum · 02/07/2014 18:03

I got the app. Thanks weeblueberry
My cycle varies each month from 28 to 34 days, so don't think it will be to accurate.

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 02/07/2014 18:05

Just downloaded the my days app - there really is an app for everything! Now off to get my diary and back date...

Eddiethehorse · 02/07/2014 18:10

Life try it! I felt so good, haven't felt that good for months of ttc, plus the benefits to overall health are supposed to be great. I hate needles but thought I'm doing this for a real goal so I'll put up with it. It didn't hurt, it's true it's relaxing. I feel positive for the first time in ages...I've also been told to take wheatgrass to lower my fsh levels.

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 02/07/2014 18:12

Now I have two ovulation apps Blush
