2014 will bring me a BFP!

DulcetMoans · 28/12/2013 00:12

I seem to remember there was a year thread when I first joined for 2013 but that didn't go my way. I can't see a 2014 one but I am determined to get my BFP in 2014 and hoping positive mental attitude will help.

Thought if see if anyone wants to join with 2014 goal to get upduffed rather than a monthly bus - some of us just need a longer term strategy!

Thanks flofly Smile It was fine actually...the staff were really sweet & I'm getting used to being in undignified positions Grin Plus the waiting room was mostly full of old people who needed ultrasounds for other reasons.

fausher · 15/01/2014 17:08

3rd day of Fluroscopy and still spotting Sad ... me no likey!

OneInAMinion · 15/01/2014 19:19

That's rubbish fausher Hmm Presumably if it's spotting it's still in the normal camp & something that you have to stick out?

sykadelic15 · 16/01/2014 02:34

DH is still concerned about the money side of things and wants to wait to remove my birth control rod until this one particular bill is sorted (which I totally get but ARGH!) but HOPEFULLY this should be sorted in the next 2 weeks (possibly up to 4... or more depending what happens between now and then of course :S).

I'm going to ask him to compromise and I'll get it out to start normalising and we'll use back-up BC (i.e. condoms) until he's feeling less freaked out.

Hoping good things for all of you though! My sis is 20+ weeks (don't remember the exact number). I don't know anything else except it's a boy.

Morning, it seems many of you are further on in your journeys than i am. What do you all think about me going to gp at this stage? I feel a bit of a fraud as although i am 36 and on my 8th cycle, it hasn't exactly been scientific and we certainly haven't gone all out with daily dtd.

We are not in the best position to be trying to be honest but i think we need to crack on. Maybe if things were more 'ideal' we would be more inclined to go all out for a few months.

I do believe the first port of call would be a sperm test for DH? Is this correct? Not sure he'd be up for it at this stage. I guess we need a chat.

skyadelic do you mind me asking your age? That would have quite an impact on my decision if i were you. I wish i had stopped BC (depo) sooner as it too 7 months for AF to return.

OneInAMinion · 16/01/2014 10:53

Hi Notta, most GPs will be happy to see you after 6 months as you're over 35, so there's no downside to having a chat. But if you're not really trying at the moment then it's not all that strange that you haven't conceived yet & there's nothing to suggest that there's a problem at the moment. Most couples conceive naturally within 12-24 months which feels like a really long time but it does provide some reassurance that there's nothing abnormal with your current situation.

SA is an early test, but it's not always done first. I had bloods & a HSG before my husband was booked in for his SA (seems a strange way round to me) so you will need to get him onside & to be prepared for some quite intrusive tests yourself.

Have a chat to him & your doctor & see where you get to.

Best of luck!

Flofly1 · 16/01/2014 15:27

NottaLotta - definitely go... there is no harm in going and I found it quite therapeutic just to chat to a doctor at that stage. I went a month before I had my bfp (that ended in MC) so I used to wonder if just talking to the doctor helped! And I do think its good to start a relationship with your doctor on this stuff. I have got to know my doctor quite well - she's given me tissues before when I've sobbed in front of her! But I know I'm lucky to have such a nice GP. Anyway do go, I think it might just help you to know things are moving in some way. But yes, as minion said, hang in there - I'm sure you'll get your bfp soon.

fausher · 17/01/2014 05:24

Finally, spotting is over... HSG report was good but the after effects freaked me out. Hoping for the best this cycle... Every month there is a new hope, motivation and energy Smile Though, it gets tough at times, but key is to stay kool, be happy and enjoy life with what you have. Cheers!

JennyOfOldstones · 17/01/2014 11:51

Hi Notta, I went at 9 months and my GP didn't seem to mind. He wanted to test DP first though, and I don't think he is quite ready for that yet. I told him what the doc said and am just letting it sink in for a bit. Will have another talk in a month or two. I am not really ready to find out if there is a problem with him, I just know he would be devastated and it would be so much easier if there was a problem with me because at least then it would be in my control IYSWIM.

We haven't gone all out on the dtd either so I suppose its not really surprising. We did in the early months but couldn't sustain it!!

Good luck.

I am thinking about trying yoga, any thoughts ladies?

JennyOfOldstones · 17/01/2014 11:57

Wise words fausher, there are always people a lot worse off than we are x

lifehasafunnywayofhelpinguout · 17/01/2014 12:07

I love your optimism Dulcetmoan. The way I see it is. I can be as positive as I want but the sperm is either going to meet the egg of it's not. my positive or negative mental attitude will do nothing to change that. I'm having a great time practicing though. xxx

OneInAMinion · 18/01/2014 09:23

Right...I'm CD31 with a BFN, but my copy of the "Taking Charge of your Fertility" book that Unicorns recommended has finally arrived. I'm ready to go all out with charts, OPKs, pre-seed, absolutely anything & everything now until D-Day in April (IVF referral). Let the battle commence! Grin

sykadelic15 · 18/01/2014 18:30

Nottalotta I'm 30 :) 31 this year. With PCO concerns (not diagnosed with PCOS but I wouldn't be surprised honestly :S) I really thing we need to get a wriggle on!

lorelie · 20/01/2014 10:04

Ok so I was thinking this month would be it, I used an opk, we dtd lots around the right time, I got mild cramps just after ovulation which never normally happens, last week I had the mother of all colds (I read somewhere that your immune response is lowered to help implantation), and yesterday I had some brown spotting which I never normally get between periods. I was thinking all the signs are pointing towards getting my bfp next week and today AF appears ;( so now starting cycle 5. Saw my doctor a couple if weeks ago who was really nice and suspects pco so have to have an ultrasound and bloods done as it may linked to this. So disappointed :(

Flofly1 · 20/01/2014 11:15

one in a minion - you've just inspired me... feeling a bit sluggish about ttc but maybe I will step it up a gear and try anything till we get to our referral. I'm just post ovulation now - haven't been monitoring this month... we did it a lot last week before ovulation but slacked a bit over the weekend... so not sure if it was enough really. Next month I will start again with a new energy. How long are your cycles normally one in a minion?

Lorelie - our bodies are so annoying.. I have had so many months with every symptom under the sun and got excited then bfn/AF. The month I got pregnant the symptoms were so similar to pre-AF symptoms so I think it's really hard to tell. But it's so so so so disappointing... hang in there.

Jessewalt · 20/01/2014 12:24

Feeling rubbish today. In 2 week wait. Day 5 post ovulation. Cycle 8. If not preggers this month, planning on seeing GP. I really hoped it wouldn't come to this. I know that many people have long journeys, and i just need to keep going. I feel particularly worried of there is an issue with semen analysis. As with many people, I am not sure my husband will cope all that well. Just need to wait and see. Sorry for thinking out loud....

OneInAMinion · 20/01/2014 13:54

That's really disappointing Lorelie - I'm sorry to hear that. Hmm It might have actually been an early stage pregnancy...apparently lots of people think they have fertility problems when in fact they have slightly different issues (often a short luteal phase). Can you tell I've been reading lots lately?! You'd be able to find out by charting your cycle properly as certain measures confirm a pregnancy even if it later becomes AF.

Flofly - my cycles vary between 26 and 33 days which I thought made things harder to calculate, but I've just learned that it's only really pre ovulation cycles that change, not post, so I'm hoping that by charting temp, CM & CP I'll be able to know exactly what's going on. This month is all about the charts! Grin

cottonwool4brains · 20/01/2014 22:23

Argh I have had enough today. Everyone around me is pregnant. To top it all if I get asked again why we haven't got started on number two ( my daughter is nearly 5) I may either cry or kill them! Rant over...

WheresMrMonkey · 21/01/2014 07:48

Hi, can I join in? Trying for dc2 for a couple of months, literally be and pregnant on one attempt with dd, so lucky. And assumed id be the same...... Got af yesterday and can't even describe how desperately sad I felt. Hoped I'd wake up ok today but feel so gutted.
Everyone's pregnant with dc1 or 2 around me. And I'm just feeling so upset. Thought we had done everything right last month. But my cycles are always a little all over the place

WheresMrMonkey · 21/01/2014 07:48

Oops... *became pregnant

sazzlehopes · 21/01/2014 10:52

Hi all, I wanted to pop in and say to not give up. I know this is easier said than done and we all have good days and truly terrible days. I couldn't talk to several of my friends a few months ago (they were all pregnant with dc2 SO easily - 1st cycle blah blah) when i hit my year of ttc mark because i was so upset and i needed my own space. But i got my bfp yesterday after 14 months. I didn't do anything spectacular and new, just kept on... I did have reflexology this month, drank a lot of ginger tea too.
FX crossed for you all for 2014, its a long road but you will all get there somehow in the end.

Jessewalt · 21/01/2014 11:34

Congratulations sazzle - we need lots more encouraging stories like yours!

OneInAMinion · 21/01/2014 14:28

Hear hear Jesse, that's great news Sazzle! Great start to 2014!

Flofly1 · 21/01/2014 15:00

Oh Sazzle - that really is fantastic! Congratulations. Great to have some happy news on this thread.

WheresMrMonkey · 22/01/2014 07:40

Big congrats sazzle!
