I seem to remember there was a year thread when I first joined for 2013 but that didn't go my way. I can't see a 2014 one but I am determined to get my BFP in 2014 and hoping positive mental attitude will help.

Thought if see if anyone wants to join with 2014 goal to get upduffed rather than a monthly bus - some of us just need a longer term strategy!

It's a herbal thing it helps regulate hormones I think but some people say it messes up their cycles.

dildoos · 12/01/2014 11:51

Jenny is it like angus castes? That does tooxx

JennyOfOldstones · 12/01/2014 20:48

JennyOfOldstones · 13/01/2014 11:43

Ooh lovely, might pop into H&B at lunchtime. I have a 50p voucher, every little helps!! Will probably wait until AF arrives and start from next cycle.

fausher · 13/01/2014 12:04

CD 7. Got the fluoroscopy done today. The uterus size and cervix is pretty normal, tubes are fine too.... phewww no issues at all...
But the procedure was a bit painful and I can't lay straight on my back as I was given the injection.
Hopefully all goes good this time.Smile

JennyOfOldstones · 13/01/2014 15:54

Hooray, congrats fausher hope the pain wears off soon!!

jennifer86 · 13/01/2014 17:17

Glad you fluoroscopy was reassuring, what does it involve, fausher? We have our first fertility clinic appt in about 3 weeks so am trying to gather as much info as poss about further tests they might do. AFAIK the only thing(s) they have left to check are my tubes - is that what a fluoroscopy is for? Is it similar to an HSG (have read about that one!)?

CD26 currently and desperately trying to stop my hopes from rising. Just need to get through this week and avoid testing til the weekend (although assume that AF will have come by then). Anyone else on the dreaded 2ww?

Sparrowlegs248 · 13/01/2014 17:57

Hello, bit late to this but would like to join in. Been staying away from this board as i find it depresses me/feeds my obsession in equal measures.....

Ttc #1. Cycle 8. I'm 36.

Background - was on depo provera for several (7?) years. Discussed on and off about ttc with OH (now husband) talked to gp and had last jab sept 2012. So i was 'covered' until dec 2012. Took until bloody JUNE 2013 for AF to show up. A month or two prior, was at the doctors and mentioned about still not having AF, he said not to worry, could take up to a year. Then said actually, due to my age, we could do a preliminary blood test. Which came back 'normal'. I actually don't know what they tested for but think hormone levels?

Have settled on 25 day cycles. Bit short maybe. Took seven seas 'trying for a baby' which caused severe (tmi!) constipation. Stopped taking it. Bought pregnacare and a box of opk strips but not used them yet.

Not sure if i should go back to docs really or if its too soon? I am on cycle 8 but tbf some cycles we have only dtd 1 or 2 times over the relevant week.

Anyway, af due 28th. FX for all of us.

Jessewalt · 13/01/2014 19:57

Hello notta! Welcome, I am in exactly the same situation as you, ttc 1 and now on cycle 8, I am 32.
I am just plucking up the courage to book a gp appointment. Not because I would like a referral straight away, but I would like to get some initial tests done. Usually if you are over 35, they are happy to see you after 6 months, and even refer.
I wish you loads of luck and this thread has been so much more helpful than any of the buses.

dildoos · 13/01/2014 22:59

Hey all just found that angus castus can infact prevent af for up too 142 from a fellow mn, do not take!!! Warning warning do not take!!!!!

Good evening now going to read down thread x

jennifer86 · 14/01/2014 07:52

It seems that everything some people take in order to regulate their cycles can actually have the opposite effect if there was nothing wrong with your cycle to begin with. I think agnus castus is supposed to be good for people with PCOS but for the rest of us I don't think it's particularly useful, so probably best avoided in case it does the opposite!

Disclaimer: Folic acid is an important one, though, for the nervous system in the baby in the first few weeks of development. So really must be taken when TTC.

CD27...

dildoos · 14/01/2014 08:01

Agreed Jennifer!! Cd 23 here gynaecologist today Confused

SweepTheHalls · 14/01/2014 08:42

No luck this month Sad c after 14 cycles I have caved an bought one of those clear blue digital monitor things so fingers crossed that is going to improve our chances.

Jessewalt · 14/01/2014 09:52

For anyone who is interested. I have been using both clear blue Ovulation tests and cheap amazon ones at the same time over the last 2months. I find them both very easy to use and always test with the second pee of the day. They have both provided me with exactly the same result ie when there are 2 clear lines on the amazon one, I get a smiley face on the monitor. If I continue to use ovulation tests I will simply use the amazon ones. Just a thought.

JennyOfOldstones · 14/01/2014 11:28

Ooh thanks for the advice ladies, will hold off on the agnus for now, it only cost me a pound so no big deal. Got DP some very expensive fertility vitamins at the same time!! It wouldn't hurt him to take them anyway, his diet is awful (except the lovely nutritious meals I cook in the evenings of course).

I have been temping but might try OPK as well, my temps are all over the place these days, apparently stress can do that. I had much clearer ovulation signs just after I came off the pill but not any more.

jennifer86 · 14/01/2014 11:49

Dildoos how did it go with the gynaecologist?
Sweep sorry to hear that. Hopefully the monitor will help. It's all about the long term goal, though, still plenty of 2014 left and plenty of opportunities :)
Good news about the amazon tests, Jesse, it's good to know they are all as reliable as each other!

Why does time go this slowly when you're close to AF/POAS? I'm working 4pm-midnight the next few days so I can see my whole week is going to be spent sitting around thinking about it!!

dildoos · 14/01/2014 14:19

Afternoon all,

Went to see gynaecologist , feeling HmmAngrySad
He has done a chromosome test on me and partner.
He feels that these will be fine! He doesn't believe in nk cells which has thoroughly blown mine and witch doctors theory on easy fix, he sees Ivf pointless as may still miscarry and in turn pay for the experience, he is going to do another pelvic scan, he disagrees to the aspirin taking which last guy suggested, so to some it all up he said it's just a case of bad luck and crack on unless I call you with abnormal test/scan results!

However he said don't smoke ( which I don't, ) don't drink alcohol ( not alcoholic but enjoy wine Grin) and frolic acid ( which of course I take!!) so I am guessing no wine which Is my one enjoyment at weekend Wink

Joy of joys!

Enough of me how's you guys?

Fausher the fluoroscopy how you feeling? X

JennyOfOldstones · 14/01/2014 15:27

Oh dear dildoos that all sounds a bit unhelpful. At least he has done the chromosome tests (don't know much about this but sounds like worth checking out). I think NK cell therapy is considered a bit 'experimental' but I have certainly heard of it working. I can see his point if you can conceive there is not much point in IVF but you still need an answer about the miscarriages I think. Have you thought about going private? They would do the NK cell compatibility tests but I guess it would be expensive. At least they could look into the question a bit more thoroughly. You wouldn't need to have IVF just have the tests done at a private fertility clinic. And no Wine aaaarggghhh!!

fausher · 14/01/2014 16:23

Jennifer Yes its the same.... HSG
Well, yes your tubes will be observed if they are fine and not blocked. Also, this test helps to see the size of uterus and the position of cervix. These are some important observations of fluoroscopy.
dildoos well, the procedure was bit painful and uncomfortable. I am taking some pain killers too as prescribed by the doctor.
The panty liner is yet not clear... so hoping the bleeding stops soon.

Flofly1 · 15/01/2014 10:02

Hello - so we had the second test results back and my husband definitely suffers from low motility and morphology isn't great.

Doctor has referred us and I think we are looking at IVF. Can't really believe it.

On the Agnus Castus thing - I have read that too - my acupuncturist told me to stay off it as I as regular.

OneInAMinion · 15/01/2014 10:55

I'm having a dry Jan Dildoos so I'm feeling your pain! I'd love a glass of wine!! At least the chromosome test is done & might give you some answers.

HSGs are yuck fausher Hmm

Sorry to hear that flofly...low doesn't mean impossible though.

I'm on my way for an ultrasound...it's the only thing they could think of left to check before our appointment in April (where they'll refer us for IVF). I'm not looking forward to sitting in a room with mostly pregnant people waiting for scans, but these things have to be done I suppose.

AF hasn't arrived yet, but I've got period pains & it's due & I got a BFN yesterday so it looks like it's time to go back round the loop again. I'd be ecstatic with a baby from any means, but I had secretly hoped that we'd manage it naturally & I can't say I'm looking forward to the prospect of IVF. I suppose we could be lucky in the new few cycles though.

Flofly1 · 15/01/2014 12:32

Thanks oneinaminion - we did get preggers naturally a year ago but MC. Doctor just didn't seem v optimistic unless we have IVF.

Sitting in a room with pregnant people will be really hard but I guess you can only focus on the end goal. I know what you mean about hoping to conceive naturally - I think that is where I have been until now and now suddenly reality of IVF is looming. Like you, I want to do whatever it takes so I guess it's just adjustment time. So when do you think you might have it? April? (you may get preggers before then!) We have just been referred from GP. How long do you think it will take to get our first appointment at specialists?

OneInAMinion · 15/01/2014 12:52

Hey flofly, even though your problem was MC, it seems logical that IVF (at some point) would be an option as you're likely to get pregnant again (if you don't beforehand) & they'll monitor you & perhaps (if they exist) give you drugs to help the baby stay put.

We've had all of our tests with the specialist now (so SA, bloods, HSG, ultrasound, etc.) & we have unexplained infertility (no BFP ever). This took about 5 months all in all from my GP referral. NHS guidelines in our area say you have to have been trying for 2 years before they can refer for IVF (at my age of 33) so they made our April appointment for us to agree if we do go down that route (which I think we probably do). The consultant explained that there aren't waiting lists for IVF anymore, as such...at that 2 year appointment, she'll make the referral & then it's just about finding an appointment that suits to get started.

As you said, there's still time though for us to conceive naturally. Fingers crossed ??

Flofly1 · 15/01/2014 16:35

Thanks Minion. That's really helpful. I will keep everything crossed that you get some good news before April. How was the ultrasound? Hope the waiting room was bearable.
