2014 will bring me a BFP!

I seem to remember there was a year thread when I first joined for 2013 but that didn't go my way. I can't see a 2014 one but I am determined to get my BFP in 2014 and hoping positive mental attitude will help.

Thought if see if anyone wants to join with 2014 goal to get upduffed rather than a monthly bus - some of us just need a longer term strategy!

Hello there ladies, long time MNer here (but regular name changer). Don't normally come on conception because honestly believed no chance of a bfP for us - been trying since Jan 2011, found out 18 months ago DH producing no sperm, started treatment about 9/10 months ago, SA in November showed 47 sperm in the sample (yes that's right 47, lonely sperm). So no expectation of bfp in 2014 - although clearly hoping for one!

But here comes the hope for everyone bit - 11 days late for AF, POAS - we got a BFP!!!! Some kind of miracle or what?! No idea whether it will be sticky, seems impossible, but had to tell someone!!

MissHobart · 22/01/2014 10:41

Very exciting Letranger ! Another piece of evidence that it can and will happen! Congratulations! Grin

LEtranger · 22/01/2014 15:04

Absolutely Miss ! Our consultant does like to go on about how it only takes one...didn't expect a result with quite such low numbers though, that said we did shag a lot 17 times over Christmas...

Flofly1 · 22/01/2014 15:25

LEtranger - this is amaaaaaazing. Thank you so much for telling us! It give me hopity hope hope hope! (I've been known to change my name on here too!) We've got low motility and the doctor did say - it just takes one......

Considering having ICSI IVF but have read lots of worrying articles about increased birth defects:( Must stay off Dr Google.

But that is fab and congratulations. Really hope that magical little bean sticks. x

OneInAMinion · 22/01/2014 15:46

There really is something in the water...I got a BFP last night eek. I know it's early days, but we've never had one before (in nearly 2 years of ttc no.1) and IF it sticks, it would mean we don't have to go ahead with our IVF appointment in April.

I've no idea what was different this time, but I'm wishing everyone else the same!

dildoos · 22/01/2014 16:44

Wow le just wow that is wonderful news GrinGrinGrin
One congrats too what lovely news GrinGrinGrin

Jessewalt · 22/01/2014 16:47

Absolutely brilliant news girls. My goodness, I hope these BFPs continue for us all. 47 sperm - well they must be excellent swimmers!
Did anyone do anything different to get a BFP??
Xx

LEtranger · 22/01/2014 17:03

Well they did tweak DH's treatment after the last sample, so can only imagine the count has improved somewhat - it seems impossible otherwise! Though don't know how much it can have improved it what must have been about a month! He's got SA booked in for next week (scheduled before our surprise news) so we should get some answers then! I will share the result so we have an idea of "how low you can go"!!

I do hope you lovely ladies all get BFPs really soon! Hopefully it's catching...

I decided to have a dry Jan (which doesn't feel enough), be more healthy generally in terms of food & exercise, we made sex more fun & less functional again, I read "taking charge of your fertility", hubby had been taking conception tablets for men for 3 months (which apparently is when you start to see differences in sperm quality), I started acupuncture (but this was mostly after I'd conceived but didn't know) & we resigned ourselves to the fact that we'd be going down the IVF route and that what mattered most was each other. Not sure if that helps?

Flofly1 · 22/01/2014 17:22

One in a minion YES YES YES YES!!! So many congratulations! :)

OneInAMinion · 22/01/2014 17:52

Aw thanks flofly Smile I'm over the moon excited, terrified and clueless all at once...I only got as far as reading about ttc...I don't know the first thing about pregnancy! Grin

Awww, big congrats to sazzle, letranger and minion, excellent news! Here's hoping your luck spreads to the rest of us! :D

JennyOfOldstones · 23/01/2014 14:10

Congrats Minion, LEtranger, and sazzle how lovely to hear all that positive news in a row!! I have heard many other stories about people getting preganant as soon as they get referred for IVF, kind of like they relax once it is in someone else's hands. And 47 sperm, wow. But multipled by 17 times is quite a lot more, I hope you found time to open some presents in between all the shagging!! Good effort!!

Jessewalt · 24/01/2014 10:47

On day 26 and I cannot stop 'pants watch' for signs of AF. I would love to be normal again.......

sazzlehopes · 24/01/2014 15:23

Congrats LEtranger and One! Such great news - and against all the odds it seems? Hoping you have a great pregnancy...your OHs must be over the moon!

m33r · 24/01/2014 17:23

sazzle how's the pg? X

sazzlehopes · 25/01/2014 07:53

Hey m33r all ok thanks. Just holding on to these early days and trying to enjoy my secret and not worry about every little twinge etc. I have a doctors apt on Monday, one i had booked anyway to talk about fertility and my next steps so going to that with better news! I had a straightforward pg with first child so trying to remember that and not think this will be any different just because it took an age to conceive! No real symptoms yet...a couple of headaches but nothing to report.

Hope everyone else on here is doing ok and we get more good news very soon!

JonesSchool · 25/01/2014 12:19

Well this is an emotional roller coaster! AF arrived two days early, it only lasted 2 days, this was followed by 2 days of spotting and then sorry to be gross a couple of days of egg white stringy discharge. Start to get hopes up, feeling a bit sick, think boobs are sore ( but I think I'm just prodding them!) few cramps, but oh no bfn this morning! Oh well, trying to get on with it and be super positive for the next cycle (not desperate!)

fausher · 25/01/2014 19:59

OneInAMinion, LEtranger and sazzlehopes.... such a great news. Congrats!
Hoping to have more bfps soon
CD 20... NO ovulation symptoms this cycle.i wonder why
I have a serum progesterone test tomorrow
Lets hope all is good

DogandBeth · 25/01/2014 20:43

Hello can I join this thread please? Currently trying to ttc no3, started trying at the beginning of 2013 but had 2 miscarriages, one at 6 weeks in march and one at 10 weeks in June. :(
Been trying since then but no luck. Due to test next week on wed so have it all crossed but not holding out much hope.
It is good to hear your bfp stories though, does give me a little glimmer of hope.
Good luck to us all for 2014 eh?!

Jessewalt · 26/01/2014 11:58

I am currently day 28 and at least 10/11 dpo. Period due tomorrow or Tuesday. I always get brown spotting before my period for at least 2 days, so was expecting that Friday or Saturday, but nothing. I sadly allowed myself to get excited and did a test this morning. Negative. Rubbish. Oh well, keep going....
