2014 will bring me a BFP!

I seem to remember there was a year thread when I first joined for 2013 but that didn't go my way. I can't see a 2014 one but I am determined to get my BFP in 2014 and hoping positive mental attitude will help.

Thought if see if anyone wants to join with 2014 goal to get upduffed rather than a monthly bus - some of us just need a longer term strategy!

I had an appointment with Dr. yesterday, CD 2. She has given me Clomid to start from CD 4 till 5 days. Once, AF is over, I will have Fluroscopy... I guess on 13th Jan.
She has also given me Pregnacare Conception. I will have Progesterone test on CD 21.
Let's see how everything comes along Smile

JennyOfOldstones · 09/01/2014 08:20

That sounds good fausher were you hoping for Clomid? Fingers crossed it works!! I wonder why pregnacare is so recommended, I have it for this month but was on superdrug own brand before as they were cheaper. Lets hope it makes a difference. That is very interesting about the acupuncture one I am thinking about that too, might have a look today. And no more salads for me!! (I never eat salads anyway haha)

sazzlehopes · 09/01/2014 13:10

One - thanks for the info - sounds interesting about the acupunturist...do keep us posted. I had heard before about warm foods etc...very interesting indeed!

UnicornsNotRiddenByGrownUps · 09/01/2014 17:40

HyCoSy scan day and all was clear. Got to see a pretty picture of my ovaries, tubes and all the rest.

DH has his SA test booked now too, he's done it for first thing in the morning on a random Thursday. Should be an interesting start to the day. Sounds pretty stressful tbh.

Very tempted by acupuncture. Can I be nosy and ask how much it's costing you?

OneInAMinion · 09/01/2014 18:50

Sounds like some good progress & next steps all round Smile

I don't mind you asking at all...it's £39 a session & they're advising me to try it weekly for a 3-month period. Not sure how long I'll do it for yet, but I figured that you can spend a fortune on OPKs, pregnancy tests, gels & gadgets, so I might as well give this a shot.

I just need to get used to hot drinks & hot meals all the time now Grin

dildoos · 09/01/2014 19:50

Evening,

Pregnacare conception is different to all the other shop bought tabs as contains inositol,l-Arginine, n-acetyl cysteine and selenium on top of all the usual things, these male our fluids more sperm friendly giving them a fighting chance!! X

OneInAMinion · 09/01/2014 20:21

The makers of it also make a wellman equivalent which contains zinc & other things that are good for sperm quality. Apparently improvements take place around 3 months after the guys start taking it, so get your man on the case ASAP!

dildoos · 09/01/2014 21:19

One -what are they. Sled the male ones! Dp hasn't taken any yet I feel tis time he did x

OneInAMinion · 09/01/2014 21:32

They're called vitabiotics wellman conception capsules, £6.77 for 30 on Amazon & recommended by the fertility clinic. They have pretty good reviews on amazon too.

OneInAMinion · 09/01/2014 21:32

It's about time the boys had to do something! GrinGrin

JennyOfOldstones · 09/01/2014 21:33

Ooh I will pick up some of the male ones too, I expect DP will want to take them in preparation for his sperm test! I told him the GP wants to test him first and he was like why? So I said because my tests are long and invasive and all you have to do is spunk in a cup. Not much he could say to that.

rambini · 09/01/2014 21:53

Hello, I am also a newbie/lurker to mumsnet. Basically I got married in Oct 2013, and due to a family history of early menopause (mum 27, gran 28) and PCOS amongst other problems we have decided to start TTC. I was initially terrified but now I have got my head around it I am so excited and impatient!! Let's hope 2014 brings us all BFPs and lots of happiness x

OneInAMinion · 09/01/2014 22:11

Ha, love it Jenny! Nicely put! Grin It's so much easier to test men and work out if they have an issue before fiddling about with us - I really don't understand why they don't test all men earlier.

Welcome Rambini! Smile Whilst those things aren't ideal, the one thing we've all learnt here is that things don't always work out as you expect. And surprisingly some of the people with obvious challenges are the ones who get BFPs with no issue. Good luck ??

dildoos · 09/01/2014 22:42

Thanks one will get some ordered tomorrow !!! Jenny I doubt very much could be said it made me chuckle GrinGrinGrin
Welcome rambini here's to lots of ahem sex x

sazzlehopes · 10/01/2014 07:09

We'll done jenni. I find with most of these things it is better to just be straightforward and never apologise for asking them to do something. In the long run it's quite easy for them so better they get on with it!
I'm sure all will be fine with your oh, and once he knows that it will help him relax and perform better!, Grin

sazzlehopes · 10/01/2014 07:11

Unicorns so all was ok with you? That's good...what is SA for your DH?Sorry I don't know that abbreviation! So can you get on with ttc now?

UnicornsNotRiddenByGrownUps · 10/01/2014 07:21

Yes thanks :) sorry SA= sperm analysis. I thought DH would be nervous about it but he doesn't seem phased at all.

sazzlehopes · 10/01/2014 07:30

Oh ok. That's fine for the boys - just spunk in a pot no?! Easy peasy!
Good you can officially get going now....
Fx crossed for you 2014 bring you a bfp!

fausher · 10/01/2014 07:39

Jenny Yes I knew it would be started with Clomid initially. I hope it works. The medicine she gave me early to take 5 days before the next expected periods had lots of side effects on me and she was surprised if I was this much sensitive to hormones.
So, she hasn't given me any other medicine, I hope Pregnacare works too...

JennyOfOldstones · 10/01/2014 15:18

Great news unicorns and good luck to your DH for his SA!! Don't miss the pot!!

fausher good luck with the clomid. Does it have any side effects?

sazzle you are right getting checked out might help DP with his performance issues, he has still not been near me since cd8 although I am not sure I have ovd this month so probably makes no difference!! It is like the elephant in the room we aren't talking about.....

UnicornsNotRiddenByGrownUps · 10/01/2014 16:32

Thanks Jenny How long ago was day 8? We've found that at times we have struggled but the fun is back at the moment. Performing under stress is hard, I think men face much more anxiety than they let on. We finally had a massive argument and that side of things all came out in the summer.

fausher · 10/01/2014 17:52

Jenny I have started it from today, i.e. CD 4. No side effects yet, though I took the medicine in morning so that my night is not spoiled due to any side effects. Grin

cottonwool4brains · 11/01/2014 22:53

Spotting today so I recon af tomorrow...:-(

JennyOfOldstones · 11/01/2014 23:09

Boooooo cotton sorry to hear that. Has anyone tried Vitex? Am thinking about adding something next month, either that or acupuncture.

dildoos · 12/01/2014 00:10

Cottonwool how rubbish! Big hugs xx

Jenny what is vitex intrigued xx
