2014 will bring me a BFP!

DulcetMoans · 28/12/2013 00:12

I seem to remember there was a year thread when I first joined for 2013 but that didn't go my way. I can't see a 2014 one but I am determined to get my BFP in 2014 and hoping positive mental attitude will help.

Thought if see if anyone wants to join with 2014 goal to get upduffed rather than a monthly bus - some of us just need a longer term strategy!

Thanks M33R I am a terrible liar but want to get things moving, I am happy to keep trying if I know everything is ok, it just seems like a waste of time if one of us has a serious problem. I also use preseed, it is very runny and goes everywhere!!

Jessewalt · 07/01/2014 10:49

I totally agree Jenny. We are on cycle 8 now and I am struggling this month. I have been contemplating lying to the doctor too. My husband is not keen to do this as he thinks the year marker is there for a reason, but I find the monthly disappointments would be a complete waste of time if there is a fundamental issue.
There has also been a host of Christmas and new year announcements of pregnancy amongst friends and family. I really thought that would be us.
I need to accept it is a marathon, not a sprint. We will get there, and we need to be more patient!
Does anyone recommend early morning dtd - I read somewhere hgher sperm count? Total rubbish?

SweepTheHalls · 07/01/2014 13:50

I keep counting how many days until I'm due mo, and it seems forever this month. This 2WW is killing me!

gmlowe · 07/01/2014 19:22

Hey! I'm new to this site but it's reassuring to see I am not alone in the nightmare of TTC. I was on the mini pill for 8 years and came off it in May 2013, I have had regular cycles ever since but have still no result! I'm 22 so (naively) thought it wouldn't take long. Haven't tried temping yet but did buy some ovulation tests ready for next month, I have regular sex but every month the period returns!

Here's to a pregnancy in 2014!

UnicornsNotRiddenByGrownUps · 07/01/2014 21:01

For those finding the 2ww hard... Imagine a 70 day cycle? Or a 50? Or maybe a 35? 2ww may be frustrating but at least you have an end date!

cottonwool4brains · 07/01/2014 21:14

Due on Friday, negative frer today (why do I do this to myself). had a chat with dh tonight about what if # 2 doesn't happen, I think I'm being a bit melodramatic but I guess it doesn't do any harm to think about this stuff. I should know better.... About the lying to your Dr. Statistically 50% of people investigated after 12 months of trying go on to conceive naturally within 24 months.... So that's why the NHS sets the cut off at 12.months, because even that means people are being unnecessary investigated.

cottonwool4brains · 07/01/2014 21:17

Still it's only been 9 months for me and I feel like it's Been forever and it's never going to happen. And if your gp is any cop he/she will refer you at 9 months anyway as the waiting list is looooooong.

JennyOfOldstones · 07/01/2014 21:54

That is really interesting about the 12 month/ 24 month thing. I would quite happily wait 24 months if I knew there was a BFP at the end of it. I am just too impatient and need to feel like I am 'doing something'!! Have my docs appt tomorrow so will prob be honest and see if I can get a blood test then re-evaluate at 12 months. If they say no they say no!! I have heard about morning dtd too, can only manage that on weekends though!!

dildoos · 07/01/2014 22:02

I have been referred only now after 4 mc with no live birth in between and 31 months of ttc, sometimes they make you wait tooooooooooo long I have dd with ex partner so fertility treatment as far as Ivf would be private only but investigations into why mc and the prescription of drugs is covered apparently, however got to start with gynaecologist first which after a long wait is happening Tuesday Smile dp has only 2% motility but apparently as we have conceived 4 times they feel this is not the issue? However when I saw Indian Canadian Grin he said straight away we are immuno incompatible and I just need an immune suppressant vaccine? Which I have googled and apparently it's a white blood cell injection? This getting a baby lark is so complicated x

JennyOfOldstones · 08/01/2014 08:18

Just had my appointment and the doc was very nice and didn't tell me off for going too early (I said 9 months) but he said they want to investigate DP first as there is no point starting my tests until they know he is ok. I was dreading this, he won't be keen and isn't as impatient as me!

Dildoos, my friend had Immune incompatibility and now has a beautiful 1 year old and another on the way. That might explain being able to conceive but not sticking. Good luck for your appointment.

sazzlehopes · 08/01/2014 08:27

Jenny it is no big deal for the boys really. Just tell you dp in a straightforward way and sure it'll be fine. It is a one time test for them, they get to do it at home and as long as you're near a hospital and that is it, job done. For you after the initial bloods it is a lot more invasive and time consuming, so don't worry about asking, just tell him what to do and hand him over the pot!

gemzyb1 · 08/01/2014 08:41

Hi everyone...can I join?! I was over two weeks late for af. Went to docs on 10 days late after 3x negative tests. She told me I was being silly and to go back after months of no af. I had a first response left over so did it this morning...it's a bfp!!!!! Two weeks late for af and it's only just showed up!!!!good luck everyone!!!xx

JennyOfOldstones · 08/01/2014 09:01

Thanks sazzle the doc did say he should go in to the surgery so they can 'examine' him which I found a bit odd, what would such an examination involve??!! Actually finding the idea quite funny, mustn't laugh when I tell DP!! Then presumably they will send him away with a pot and we drop it off when he has 'deposited'?? He has some performance issues so not sure he could manage it at the docs!!! You are right though it is bloomin easy for them!!

prettypleasewithsugarontop · 08/01/2014 09:54

Af arrived (at work naturally and I used my last pad and didn't replace) so yesterday was cd27. fx periods all settled down this fast and I can get working out ov days etc Grin

sazzlehopes · 08/01/2014 13:02

Jenny no examination?! Just handed pot and form and told to do it at home and drop it off to hospital on certain day within an hour I think of depositing! We waited til unsuccessful month and just as AF arrived so as not to waste swimmers iykwim!

JennyOfOldstones · 08/01/2014 14:34

sazzle I was quite surprised, I think it will be a harder sell if he has to go into the docs and drop his trousers rather than just dropping off a pot!!

DulcetMoans · 08/01/2014 14:38

Examine?! My doc just gave us the pot and the number to make the appointment. Not sure what examination they could do. Maybe she just would like to see him face to face? Not sure! Good luck to him though, it's not as bad as you first think.

OP posts:
JennyOfOldstones · 08/01/2014 15:15

Maybe they just want to make sure he isn't an imaginary boyfriend!! Might try and phone and see if we can do without the examination though!!

sykadelic15 · 08/01/2014 16:32

Congrats gemzyb1!!

dildoos · 08/01/2014 17:03

Afternoon/evening ladies,

Jenny- what did they to to make the baby stay put ?
Men hey?! My dp is also a laid back Larry when comes to this however After the mc's and plenty of sobbing , it's not fair you don't make any efforts behaviour he is now more obsessed than I Smile
He had his danglers felt lol but unsure if protocol or weird gp GrinGrinGrinGrin then had a form and pot and made appt with lab to drop off his contributions Wink
Gemzy congrats what a wonderful start to new year and new thread Grin

Pretty -boo to the af!!! I have everything crossed for it being your only one this year !!!!

Now on day 17 here and got the stringy clear stuff so will Dtd tonight so that's 3 times in past 6 days going for the every other night thing!

Anyone heard of low iron being probs with infertility? Xxx

JennyOfOldstones · 08/01/2014 17:29

Haha dildoos I must have one of those weird GPs too! I spose they have to get their jollies somehow!!! If I make him an appointment with a nice young lady GP he might not mind so much.....today it was an old man so he might not be so keen!! Never heard of low iron being a problem myself but someone else might have. Well done on the dtd effort!!

OneInAMinion · 08/01/2014 22:05

Jenny - my hubby didn't have an examination either & once they'd checked the quality & quantity of his sperm there wasn't anything else to look at.

Dildoos - I've not heard of iron specifically being an issue, but it makes sense that chemical imbalances can have an impact. I suppose most things are about everything being in working order.

OneInAMinion · 08/01/2014 22:15

I thought some of you might be interested in my antics today...I went to see an acupuncturist for the first time about my infertility. After various questions, she got me lying on the bed, appeared to be taking my pulse & told me that my system & circulation is sluggish & needs speeding up. She put needles (tiny, painless ones you hardly feel) in my forehead, hands, inside my ankles & around my uterus & ovaries. She then connected the ones around my middle to a low electric current Shock (kinda like those exercise belts) & turned on a heat lamp to warm up my cold system (!) Grin An hour later (and my other side done) I was nicely relaxed & I left with strict instructions to start taking a ginger drink, to stop eating salad/cold foods, to stop drinking cold drinks, to avoid caffeine & to get more warm food & drink into me.

I've got absolutely no idea if this will help, but I figured I'd give it a try as our fertility clinic have said that acupuncture is inexplicably getting some surprisingly positive results.

I have another appointment next Friday & I'll keep you posted if you're interested.

HollyBen · 08/01/2014 22:42

I have been reading good things about acupuncture and reflexology one so interested in how you get on. Thinking I will have a look see if there is anyone nearby

dildoos · 08/01/2014 22:50

One- that's a bit like yin and yang I think for good blood glow and it heard warm drinks and foods from day 14 are good as keeps it warm there almost like a cooker Wink someone advised tie a scarf around that part also helps however unsure his I would carry off this look? Good luck and keep us posted !! X
