Ok - I am being dramatic but have every reason to be - have realised after bit of prodding an poking that I can't find my threads to my IUD!!!

Had a bit of a bleed last weekend and heavy pains etc was weird as never happened in between periods before but just thought was one of those things!!

Well since then have had sex 4 times (sorry to be so intimate here!!) and now am terrified that I am up the DUFF!!!!

Last period started 7th of this month and finished on the 13th - what are the odds - can someone please tell me???

It would not be the biggest disaster in the world - DP and I are happy together and have spoken about children and he would love them and I yearn for a baby sometimes but now with facing the reality that it could actually happen I am terrified??

Now I don't want to go and have anew one fitted until I know if an pregnant or not but that means just waiting till my period is due and abstaining!!

Hey - I knew I shouldn't have gone to those meet ups!!

Twinkie, I am so thrilled for you.

Am sure DP wil find all the right words once he gets over the shock. Telling him by email !!! FFS woman

Am just off to find a website that categorically states pregnant women cannot eat cheesecake

M2T · 04/03/2004 12:10

Kayleigh - There's a website that states that????? OMG!! I've eaten a whole cheesecake over the past 3 days. I swear it was my craving last time and this time too!

aloha · 04/03/2004 12:13

M2T, didn't mean to panic you. Apparently baked cheesecake is fine. It's the other stuff you can't eat when pregnant.
I am only trying to put Twinkie off so I can eat her portion at the next City Meetup

Kayleigh · 04/03/2004 12:36

Just to be clear i found this website which states:-
"Make sure eggs are thoroughly cooked. Avoid soft boiled or raw eggs, e.g. in home-made mousse or cheesecake. "

So it was probably the raw eggs rather than the cheese part of cheesecake that I was thinking of - but as has been said. If it is baked it is fine.

Just wanted to clear that up !!

M2T · 04/03/2004 12:38

PHEW!!
Actually I've never bothered reading the labels or asking the waiter in a restaurant whether it's a baked one or not. If it looks good then I've GOT to have it! Right, thanks kayleigh, now I want cheesecake and I'm stuck at work with a naff canteen!

prufrock · 04/03/2004 12:55

Twinkie - I can't believe you told him over e-mail - poor man. Congratulations again - even though we all knew yesterday - a line is a line is a line. you really deserve this darling, I am so so happy for you.

Isn't there as much caffeine in tea as there is in coffee?

BeckiF · 04/03/2004 13:13

You're right there is about the same caffeine in tea as in coffee, also in a lot of fizzy drinks (and not just coke!) CONGRATS BY THE WAY!!! Am I the only one wondering how the hell you managed it when you had a coil and what happened to the coil?!! My mum lost hers and certainly noticed it coming out!!!

bluestar · 04/03/2004 15:26

Well I found myself in Sainsburys this morning but have slightly wimped out by buying a clearblue test and therefore can't really use it until Sunday. Think today it will just be too early and I'm not convinced that it will be positive so going to see how long I can hold out for. Got a funny feeling that af will be here and then I will be gutted.

Twinkie · 04/03/2004 15:36

Thanks all - I wouldn't be as sane (a matter of debate) and happy without you guys helping me through allthe shit over the last 14 months - am going to call this baby after all of you now where do I start - Rhubarb, Prufrock, Fizog, Pie, Springchicken, Blu, Twiglett........................ it'll hate me forever won't it

Don't know where coil is - and no i never saw it/felt it coming out - I was quite ill with stomach pains and bleeding so maybe it came out then - but no plops in the toilet or anything!!

Oooohhh will have to buy decaffinated tea and coffee now and stop eating soft cheese and pate and god I miss it already - had huge craving for liver when I was having DD - bleugh - liver can you imagine anyone craving that vile yuckness!!

In both my pregnancy books you are told to cut down to 2 cups of coffee a day or 6 cups of tea in the 1st trimester! So there must be a difference.

Twinkie · 04/03/2004 15:42

So how many Grande Skinny Lattes can I have then

OP posts:
M2T · 04/03/2004 15:43

Ooooo just the one a day I think. Mind you in about 3 wks time just the smell of it will probably make you want to barf.

Helsbels · 04/03/2004 15:45

congratulations Twinkie - we knew it all along!!

twinkie - congrats!

SoupDragon · 04/03/2004 21:27

M2T, the difference is because you have a cup of tea but a mug of coffee (at least if you're posh you do, so not in my house )

According to independent scientific advice, it?s important to have no more than 300mg of caffeine a day. This is because high levels of caffeine an result in babies having a low birth weight, or even in miscarriage. Roughly, 300mg is the equivalent of any of these:

3 mugs of instant coffee (100mg each)
4 cups of instant coffee (75mg each)
3 mugs of brewed coffee (100mg each)
6 cups of tea (50mg each)
8 cans of cola (up to 40mg each)
4 cans of ?energy drink? (up to 80mg each)
8 (50g) bars of chocolate (up to 500mg each)

So... 3 mugs of coffee or 8 bars of chocolate. Tough decision!

Janh · 04/03/2004 21:33

Last time I was pg I had to buy decaff tea because the ordinary stuff was just too strong (had to give up coffee altogether) and we are still drinking it 11 years later - it's not bad - honestly!

Chinchilla · 04/03/2004 21:36

I went off chocolate, diet coke and coffee whilst pg Got my love of chocolate back later in the pregnancy! Had to drink decaff coffee and d coke whilst bf'ing, and got quite used to it.

I think taking caffeine out the diet is a good every day thing. More of us should do it really. I gave it up last year and was cranky and headachy for about a week. Decaff teas and coffees taste the same to me, and you can get caffeine free diet coke. Caffeine is after all much like speed, and you wouldn't merrily brew up a cup of THAT in the morning!!!!

Blu · 09/03/2004 14:19

I Have just caught up with the second part of this thread...Twinkie, you are a complete darling, and very funny too.

I had to smile, reading it through, all these men whose first response is "I must get a bigger car" etc, and what do we women do to celebrate pregnancy? Panic about cheesecake!
