*Shenanigans. Bastard!

Thundercatsarego · 24/01/2013 09:34

Thanks viv, s'ok though, I'm actually delighted af came. That's how mmc makes you crazy eh- Any sign that things might be working in this body are a cause for celebration in the Thundercats lair. I can opposite cycle-buddy you until you find someone if you like? Are you an obsessive symptom spotter?

happylass · 24/01/2013 11:09

thunder and bunny can I be your cycle buddy too? AF due tomorrow. Temperature slump plus cramps indicate she's well on her way humph!

MotherOfCleo · 24/01/2013 11:36

Hi Guys. Feels slightly dirty after eating sausages for dinner last night......not the ones viv had shenanigans with though I add. Wink

I'm feeling a bit random this morning, not reading anything into it much lol but I have an odd taste in my mouth this morning, it's like I can taste my fillings or something. Also I'm salivating like I'm going to be sick but don't feel sick. Just feels a bit odd.....

twinklestar2 · 24/01/2013 12:33

What cd are you on mother?

Yes Viv I def think that hubs morphology is the issue. He was drinking over 50 units a week and smoking too. When he cut back it went up to 2% from 1%. Now he is doing dry Jan and had promised to cut back from feb. I hope this works!

Aquarius1 · 24/01/2013 12:46

viv I'll be your cycle buddy - I think I'm 2/3 dpo.

2cats222 · 24/01/2013 13:08

mother exciting symptom spot Smile

Have just cried laughing at the sausage shenanigans... add my vote for the new name too.

In my world this morning am on 7th day of AF (unheard of, always have regular 5 day cycles) so my impatience is slightly different... just desperate for this to stop so I can move on the stage 2 which is clearly the more fun bit!

I also have a question about temping. I'm really struggling to temp properly - I don't want to temp whilst in bed with OH so have to take 4 steps out of bed to en suite either way, however seem unable to leap out of bed to do this until i've rolled around gradually waking up for 30 mins or so which i know is far from ideal. Also having a bad run of night sweats (attractive huh) so waking up a lot warmer than normal which i think is throwing things (especially if they end up stopping mid cycle). Also jet lag isn't helping (waking up at 4am) before the alarm and I dont really want to have to temp at 4am for the whole cycle. So... any thoughts? I'm really keen to get a strong cycle of temps in as I'm starting to worry i'm not ovulating... but obviously the conditions (and my motivation) are not ideal. Are there any alternative methods to get reliable temps? Wondering if it was possible to take 3 temps per day (at set times) and average them? Or is this simply going to be wildly inaccurate? (I know the answer will be yes but hoping not!)... Would appreciate help/thoughts/slaps with cumberland sausage etc

MotherOfCleo · 24/01/2013 13:15

twinkle I'm CD22, (9DPO) Do you think it's wishful thinking and I'm just going to come down with some evil bug?

Sorry 2cats I have no idea re temping, viv is the messiah on that one I think, although she is also fairly likely to hit you with a pork product lol Wink so be ready to duck. Smile

SidneyBristow · 24/01/2013 15:24

You lot are a bunch of sillies! I love it.

CD10 here, SMEP in full effect, woot. This weekend will be a challenge - we're up to see family, overnight, so will have to be v v quiet as our room is next to the bathroom, and it doesn't have a lock on the door... just shows how far I'm willing to go in TTC, that I'd knock boots with DH with his parents & sister down the far too short hallway.

A little blue today; DH is butting heads with his ex over custody, and I feel helpless. I'm the one encouraging him to sort things out and am terrified it's going to wind up worse than it is now, at least til things are settled. Sad

BraveLilBear · 24/01/2013 15:25

Hello !

I have been AWOL for way too long and I'm very sorry. Partly cos it's gonna take me til next month to read back Wink

Quick update - I am 14 and a half weeks gone (according to 12wk scan) woohoo. Kinda been a fun journey though... ended up with a perianal abscess (google it, it's really fun) at 8 weeks, which I ended up in emergency surgery under GA to have drained. Same time, morning sickness kicked in. Then got really bad tummy bug over new year. Still throwing up periodically.

But.... baby seems fine! So excited to catch up with everyone's news... but I'll say a quick hi to everyone I've not said hi to, and for thundercats's AF! x

BraveLilBear · 24/01/2013 15:26

PS if you want me to naff off with my invisibump then please say - I won't take offence...

janey1234 · 24/01/2013 15:39

Oh hi brave! Congrats - although sounds like a bit of a nightmare along the way. We've started our very own knocked up elderberries thread in the antenatal threads, come and join us! We're patiently waiting for everyone else to come and join us too, and keeping everything crossed over there for all our old virtual chums.

I'm still trying to wean myself off this thread, all the sausage talk last night really made me laugh last night though so am finding it a bit tricky

MotherOfCleo · 24/01/2013 16:01

Bear I just googled that and now wish I hadn't lol, did I mention I was a bit nauseous already. Ladies do not google it......especially before dinner. Glad they sorted it for you though!!!!!

Janey we have our bags packed and are ready to come with you but are waiting for our exam results to ensure we qualify for entry Grin

Boodle9 · 24/01/2013 17:48

Mother - metallic taste in mouth and lots of excess saliva?! That sounds extremely promising. I really hope it's going to lead to a BFP for you! At which point we will start wanging sausages at you until you bugger off to the antenatal thread...!

2cats, temping advice is that you take it immediately upon waking; definitely no getting up and walking to the bathroom! You are also meant to have slept through for at least 3 hours before taking your temp, so getting up in the night can also be a problem (don't know if you do that - just thought I'd mention it. It sounds like you need to get the jet lag sorted before you will be able to do it properly. Also, I think you'll be best doing it in bed. Are you worried your OH will think you've gone bonkers!? Could you just tell him it's to help you know when to expect your period?

In Boodleland, I am thoroughly pissed off with doctor. I raised thyroid concerns - no, levels are normal. (They're not if planning a pregnancy.) I raised luteal phase concerns and was told it wouldn't make a difference. I then pointed out that average implantation is thought to be 9 days and my luteal phase is 9 days so surely that's a problem I got the same response...and a shrug, A sodding SHRUG! Shock and Angry and Sad She then suggested I wait another 6 months before she does my referral as 97% of couples conceive naturally within 2 years...hell NO! Referral has been requested. Waiting game now.

viviennewestwould · 24/01/2013 19:06

Boodle, your GP is an ill-informed c*t who needs t*tting with a gnarled, barbecued sausage. I cannot believe she was indifferent to your short luteal phase and thyroid levels. Please, please push for that referral. That goes for all you ladies who instinctively feel it's time to get seriously listened to. Since I've been under the consultant (NHS) I have felt cared for, listened to and understood and there is nothing they will not do for me in order to put my mind at rest. Fucking GPs are useless when it comes to fertility issues (and I don't mind admitting that female GPs are particularly unsympathetic bastards) [steps down from soapbox triumphantly clutching sausage]

Thunder, I am the antithesis of a symptom-spotter. I hate symptom-spotters. I want to wang them around their 'tender breasts' with sausages. Cramping at 4DPO? It's wind, love. Tender breasts at 7DPO? You need a new bra, you fucking tramp. Strange, metallic taste in mouth? Stop swallowing your fella's man-fat (I am joking, Mother, sweetheart. Metallic taste is a very positive sign).

Twinkle, I am Shock at your fella's alcohol intake I'm just jealous 'cos I'm in recovery I hope his pie intake doesn't match his beverage consumption Wink

Aquarius, yes, let's be cycle buddies (you on the handlebars clutching the sausage)

2cats, what you are asking is impossible according to the laws of biophysics (or summat). I'm not sure why you are so reluctant to temp in the presence of your fella (does he have a tendency to wang you with his sausage if woken early?) but it really is the only way to go. I have to get up to piss at least once in the night (around 4am) so that is the time I temp. I set my alarm for this time every night in case I don't wake with the need to piss. Temping is brilliant when you get it right - if only to let you know in advance when AF is on its way.

[raises sausage in solidarity for Sidney's hubby]

Brave, hello, my name is Vivienne. Are you really brave? [takes aim at Brave's head and Brave doesn't even flinch - obviously one tough cookie]

[waves sausage at the lovely Janey]

Well, I did a stupid thing by peeking at the TTC Over-40 thread and yet another old lady is preggo. There is literally now only me and one other woman (ancient at 46) from the original crew who are not pregnant. I feel awful. This is not going to happen for me, I know it [runs off to self-wang - similar to self-harming but greasier]

viviennewestwould · 24/01/2013 19:09

I am truly sorry for the profane language [runs off to find Tippex]

MotherOfCleo · 24/01/2013 19:18

viv fret not I like being wanged by your anti symptom spot sausage Grin

I also like someone who has more of a potty mouth than me!!!! Smile

Boodle9 · 24/01/2013 19:29

Oh, Viv, I hope it feels like that once I'm under a consultant, I really, really do. She asked if I wanted to go ahead with a referral anyway, so I said yes, I was not going to wait another 6 months.

I was also asked which hospital I wanted to get referred to. I didn't have a clue so I asked would she recommend one. Didn't really get an answer so just said the one nearest to me as that's where I went last Thursday for my scans. Now I'm wondering whether I made the right choice. It hasn't got the best reputation but I figured that if I need anything major, like IVF, it won't be there as they don't have the facilities. Hope it was the right decision! Time will tell!

viviennewestwould · 24/01/2013 20:02

Mother, I can tell we are going to be vair, vair good fwiends..

Boodle, when I was asked by my GP which hospital I would like to be referred to (Chorley or Burnley) I chose Burnley because it came first in the alphabet. I am not joking. As it happens, I don't feel I would have found half the loveliness at any other hospital I could've gone to. So..have faith that excellent, empathic consultants are lurking everywhere - and anywhere. I can't help feeling that half the battle is down to us and our ability to come across well at appointments. I like to weep gently and throw big words around, just to show I am educated and not to be fucked-around with but that I am also vulnerable. I also sit with my legs slightly parted whilst wearing a sugar-pink kilt and sucking on a lollipop

Boodle9 · 24/01/2013 20:37

I'd better start practising my big words then! In reality, I get hopelessly tongue-tied in those sorts of situations. Plan to put up a united front and have DH with me from here on in and he's great at 'talking the talk' so I'll just make sure he's fully briefed in advance! (I'd also better skip the kilt/lollipop combo...they'd be running a mile!)

Bunnygirlie · 24/01/2013 20:41

Yay cycle buddies Thunder and happy - anybody else?
I know AF is just around the corner, no cramps or itches (yay) but some signs when (ahem) wiping.

I do wonder what people think of us crazy girls if they start reading our thread Grin

Oooooooh Mother could be a good sign, bout time too, we haven?t had a BFP in AGES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brave happy to hear all is well! You must be so excited, have you told everyone now? And we love it when you and Janey pop in to say hi! We just so want to join you in the sausage and elderberry pavlova wanging PG gang 

Aquarius1 · 24/01/2013 20:43

hello brave so sorry to hear what you had to go through with the emergency surgery and ongoing sickness - all sounds rather unpleasant - I'd say you have truly lived up to your name . mother i am obediently not googling.

boodle sorry about your gp frustration. I find the 97% within 2 years statistic oddly comforting - gives me hope rather than the impending doom and thoughts that I'm never going to get PG that I get when af arrives...

...which brings me to viv - step away from the self sausage wanging (ahem) and that other thread and get back to pedalling please....

Bunnygirlie · 24/01/2013 20:50

OMG I can't stop eating choccie digestives, somebody stop me !!

Thundercatsarego · 24/01/2013 21:48

Evening all. I have hot water bottle, duvet, TV and chocolate, I am languishing in afness. For the last time I hope.

bunny you'd better get on and squeeze it out otherwise I'll leave you behind in the cycle lane...And yeah of course happy!

viv not a symptom spotter then eh.

Hey brave, good to hear from you. Sorry about the abscess. Yowsers.

I echo the others boodle, your GP sounds crap. Hope you get a lovely helpful consultant next.

Boodle9 · 24/01/2013 21:50

Leave those biscuits alone, Bunny! Really though, I'm not the right person to be telling you this.

(Waits patiently for viv to charge in with some form of meat-based product and beat some sense into Bunny.)
