I frigging love ranting. My facebook page is a furious, expletive-riddled rantathon - no-one is safe.

I have had to travel to my mum's to get some work done as internet access has been lost in the godforsaken valley where I live. Instead of reading manuscripts I am shovelling Creme Eggs down my gob and watching Undercover Boss (she has recorded sixteen of 'em). I am missing Mr. Viv already but my mum is an adorable lunatic who makes me feel like the most beautiful, successful and adored girl in the whole wide world Smile

P.s. I am neither beautiful nor successful Sad

Ahhh but you are to your mum viv. And you're certainly a successful ranter Wink

[wangs (I love this word!) Bunny across the knuckles with robust truncheon of chorizo]

Just been reading another thread where one woman who's been ttc for yonks had her cm tested and they found she had really acidic mucus which was destroying her DP's sperm! Now I'm paranoid.

My mum has just returned from the kitchen with a piece of fabric smothered in Olbas Oil which she has draped around my neck like a bib 'so you can breathe in the fumes whilst you're working, cock'. I'm sat here looking uncannily like one of The Undateables (who, by-the-way, will all have babies before I do) Sad

Hmmm acidic cm- that's scary. I wonder if you can counter that by putting toothpaste up there? Now thats yowsers.

Your mum sounds ace viv.

Boodle9 · 24/01/2013 22:20

Ah, but who here thinks they're beautiful and successful? I certainly don't! That's what your mum's for, surely?!

Report
Boodle9 · 24/01/2013 22:25

Oops. Cross-post a bit there, sorry.

Isn't it acidic CM that was the problem with Monica in the whole 'Monica and Chandler can't have a baby' saga? (As we're all 30-somethings, or near enough at least, I'm hoping a reference to Friends will be met with nods of recognition.)

And then, to compound the problem, Chandler had super-lazy sperm. I think about that episode a lot. Before TTC I always though 'God, that's a bloody unlikely storyline.' and now it would seem I'm in a horribly similar boat.

Evening ladies.
You may be rather hearted by this Daily Fail headline, not that I would ever believe a Daily Fail headline any other time you understand, but I like this one so I will.

Headline here

viviennewestwould · 24/01/2013 22:34

Pip, don't knock the Daily Fail - it's where I suckled on the tit of rant.

[nods knowingly at Boodle's Friends reference]

I quite liked the Daily Fail's headline today (and I'm paraphrasing): 'Britain's Chief Medical Officer Says Homeopathy Is Shit'.

Bunny, I'd like to say everyone our age loves Friends, but I know there will be someone on here who will say they can't stand it. You and I will both know they're a bit wrong in the head though.

Hope you enjoy your birthday curry! Smile

Very interesting link, Pip; kind of wish all the bloody 20-somethings who keep getting pregnant around me would read it and take heed.

Thundercatsarego · 24/01/2013 22:42

Yeah you're right bunny, if it were possible to squeeze it out then I would have done it myself 6 days ago, and been on time.

Ahh Monica and her 'hostile environment' I believe.

I love Friends!

Viv yep my hub was in denial about how much he was drinking. He eats well and exercises but could drink 7-8 beers 3 times a week which easily adds up to 50+ units.

Pip that headline makes me feel better!

Got our letter from the fertility clinic today and our appt is on 20 feb. anyone knows what happens on that first appt?

Viv & Boodle thanks for the temping confirmation. Despite being wholly unconcerned about most things with my other half I am finding the thought of sticking a beeping thermometer up my fanjo while he is a couple of inches away rather unnerving. He knows why I need to temp, he wouldnt care if it was done beside him but I am just being a bit funny about it. Going to try Vivs method of 4am alarm thereby beating the jet lag early wake up and in the hope he will be sound asleep so I can manage it all without being discovered....

Boodle sorry about your wanky stupid doc, but yey to the referral. Onwards and upwards towards someone who will listen, care and DO SOMETHING!

Twink, is that your first one with the hospital consultant?
Of so, be prepared to tell them the exact same stuff as you've been telling the doctor.
Expect to be weighed and measured. They will want to know average cycle length, how long you've been trying, what tests you've had etc. With us then sent DH for a second SA.

twinklestar2 · 24/01/2013 23:53

Yes it's first appt. thanks for answering :)

captainmoll · 25/01/2013 00:53

2cats - you don't have to stick anything up your fanjo, you can put the thermometer under your tongue - it's your general body temp you're after, so under tongue works fine.

Report
viviennewestwould · 25/01/2013 07:23

...or, 2cats, you could always stick it up your hubby's arse.

Twinkle, I wasn't weighed or measured, I just lied about how long we had been trying, wept at the appropriate moments and tried to get her (some simpering minion - not the consultant) to look at my charts. This was when they looked at my blood results from my GP surgery, decided I wasn't ovulating and chucked Clomid at me. Be ready to sound informed about your body and how it works: cycle length; luteal phase length (do you know this?); length of period. Make sure he knows you have been following an excellent intercourse frequency regime (some consultants will suggest you're not having enough sex). Casually mention HSG and lap & dye and see what he says. Hope this helps.

Sorry to piss on the chips of symptom-spotters, but:

'While some women say that tender breasts are an early pregnancy symptom, there is no way to know if you are pregnant by the sensitivity of your breasts. Breast sensitivity may be linked to increased progesterone. Progesterone is increased both during the luteal phase of your cycle whether or not you are pregnant and during pregnancy.' Yes 2cats what captain said. Thermometer goes under my tongue and nowhere else at 6:30am! I think you probably get a more accurate temperature by putting it in other orifices but you're not really looking for that, you're just looking for a serious, sustained rise around OV. Only been temping for 2 cycles and for me it just confirmed what I already knew, OV on cd12 but very reassuring nonetheless. I honestly do it in my sleep half the time! Have to say I'm not as dedicated as viv in that I don't set the alarm on weekends but that doesn't really matter for me, I still get a good overall pattern.

AF due today, just waiting for the witch to rear her ugly head [bsad]

Thundercatsarego · 25/01/2013 07:40

Re symptoms I have to say there is absolutely no doubt for me breast tenderness was a symptom when I got pregnant before. Tenderness, incidentally is a gross understatement- they felt like they were on fire and I walked round wearing my own hand bra for two days. They are the reason why I poas. But this did only happen at cd 27 (around 13dpo) so not exactly an early warning. And of course it may be different if I manage to get upduffed again.

Thunder, I think what fertility friend are saying is that you can have tender breasts and still not be pregnant.

What's with the Scottish hats on the emoticons? I hate Scottish people. They need wanging with a haggis.

Thundercatsarego · 25/01/2013 07:55

Yeah I'm sure that's true viv, mine got tender mid cycle last time. But yeah, this was something else. And don't get me started on the nips- OH almost got slapped for so much as breathing on them.

Mmmm haggis.

After setting my alarm for 4am and snoozing it for 4 hours it seems I am not doing well with the temps this month! Oral temping starts tomorrow (cd8 so should be ok)...
