Sad news here. Scan showed only a gestational sack with small yolk etc so it looks like pregnancy hasn't developed since early days. We are gutted. Got to go back in a week so they can confirm a missed miscarriage. Right now trying to work out how to cope with a sad Xmas limbo and what to expect next - the hospital didn't tell us anything. I have had a bit of spotting in the last couple of days so perhaps it is already beginning.

Janey, I am sending positive thoughts your way and hope that you get your dose of scan happiness today.

Quod I am so so sorry to hear your news. Nature is so cruel sometimes. I can't imagine what you must be going through but I think there are some very good support threads by people who are experiencing similar. Sending all my best wishes for the best Christmas you can possibly have xxx

Quod, I am so, so sorry about this news. I, too, was told at my 12 week scan that there was only an empty sac and placenta. The baby had failed to develop very early on. It's shit and cruel and I hope you can heal somewhat over the holidays. If you want any advice on what to do over the coming days please private message me (I don't want to go into details on here as it could be insensitive to those who are pregnant). Please be reassured that this sadness passes. Hope renews itself very quickly and you will have your longed-for baby. Stay close to those who love you and, although this will seem cold comfort to you at the present time, remember 'this, too, will pass..'

Much love and empathy Thanks

Quod, so sorry - as it stopped developing early, the mc should not be (physically) too traumatic, but I understand that this is not something you really care about right now. It does not mean it's more likely to happen the next time either, but still of course devastating news.

Janey glad to hear everything was ok with yours!

Quod really sorry to hear about your mmc. There are some really good threads on here that have helped me over the past couple of weeks.

Quiod thinking of you, dreadful news. Have you got anyone other than DH in real life who can support you?

Didn't cry seeing friends baby, mainly because I was sitting in a coffee shop concentrating on not shitting myself.

Morning all - so told the family, reactions as you would expect.

One BIL was not feeling so great and turns out has conveniently managed to catch some kind of vomiting bug, I will not be amused if I get it too now.

Now waiting for everybody to get up for their traditional French breakfast (toast and jam), while I'll be eating mine - they think that savory breakfast is the oddest thing ever.

Merry Elderberry Christmas!
