Btw - Happy - how did you get on with the snowman?!

aquarius I agree that iron levels can be important for pregnancy (and I assume conceiving). I'm not a fan of supplements myself, but there are lots of tasty natural sources, like chocolate!! (or dried herbs and apricots if you're being sensible) : www.healthaliciousness.com/articles/food-sources-of-iron.php
And the good news is that lots of the iron foods are also full of B12:
www.healthaliciousness.com/articles/foods-high-in-vitamin-B12.php so you don't have to eat tons of broccoli after all Smile

And Navis - I totally get what you mean about pointless fight with DH. This is such a tough time, it puts the best relationships under pressure. I agree with Viv et al that you should talk to him, but you're in the best place to judge how far to push it. I know sometimes men just want to drop it. If he doesn't want to hear how down you are about things, or how annoyed you are that he's not upset enough (not crazy, we've all been there!) then that's what we're here for.

viviennewestwould · 18/01/2013 20:19

Rumple, when I get ewcm ovulation is at least a few days away, that's why I'm starting tonight. For you, the presence of egg white could mean ovulation is only hours away - I don't know how your body works, but I just thought I'd give you a nudge. Right now, I'd be happy to never have sex again, but I really want that baby, so...

2cats, sorry AF has turned up. It's a shitter, isn't it?

Inside Soap is certainly not a euphemism. It is the name of an exceptionally high-brow magazine spilling the beans about all the soaps' storylines for the next two weeks (next week psycho-bitch Kirsty falls down the stairs and blames her injuries on poor Tyrone, who gets banged-up!)

viviennewestwould · 18/01/2013 20:21

Rumple, I haven't read Fifty Shades of Shite purely because I have half a brain.

viviennewestwould · 18/01/2013 20:23

....I'm sorry, but as a freelance editor I had to read this kind of bullshit over and over and over again. Appallingly crass garbage.

SidneyBristow · 18/01/2013 20:51

Rumple, skip it. It's horrific, almost as horrific as sitting at Sunday dinner and listening to my MIL rhapsodize about how much she was looking forward to reading it.

I think I'm late to the EWCM thing. I know of it, but am not sure I've paid that much attention to it. God there's so much to stay on top of...Has anyone given up caffeine completely in TTC? or is that generally something that can wait until there's a baby on the way? I'm struggling with the idea of giving up my morning Coke. Also, I have a condition for which I often need to take a tablet that eases pain; it's caffeine/aspirin/antihistamine/muscle relaxant - all low doses of each - but I've read that aspirin can affect ovulation? Argh. Are any of you avoiding tablets other than paracetemol, which supposedly is alright?

Mother and Boodle I'm giggling at the images of Pregnant Moonlady and dramatically flapping sex capes! Thanks for the laugh.

Viv good luck on the shagging tonight. No shame in acknowledging that sometimes the getting-there is a big old drag. Maybe it'll take some of the pressure off your fella?

Oh and my grand plan on how to get back in shape is starting to walk daily for exercise rather than sporadically, and dance classes 2x a week, once my foot heals up (pulled a ligament I think but it's nearly fine). And exhibiting more self-control. Luckily I do enjoy healthy foods, it's just getting in a routine of it that's tricky.

Aquarius1 · 18/01/2013 20:57

boodle sorry you got forgotten - hope you're not too traumatised by all your investigations

I was tested for thyroid issues a while ago hence now getting more bloods done to see what's what ...hope we get our answers soon

rumple thanks for the tips. Can't stand apricots but will check out the web page [whilst eating chocolate]

Boodle9 · 18/01/2013 21:12

Before it sticks, I think I need to change Pregnant Moonlady to Pregnant-Moon Lady. A subtle change with a big semantic shift! Am rather hoping to stay as same old Boodle though!

Don't worry about forgetting me! My tests weren't as significant as the others! The lady who did my scans was absolutely lovely so no, not traumatic. I mean, don't get me wrong, I won't be asking for a dildocam just for fun or anything. However, on the whole, it was an OK experience. (Worst bit was waiting with the full bladder!)

Sidney, on the painkillers front, I would like to just do away with them, but if I didn't take them during AF I'd be crippled up on the floor for about 2 days. I leave them alone for the rest of the month though. I've heard paracetamol is best too if you think you could cope just on that? (I know I couldn't though.)

Oh, and the 50 shades thing? My tuppence worth is haven't read it, don't want to read it. I'm a book snob!

Pipbin · 18/01/2013 21:48

I downloaded the sample of 50 shades on the Kindle and I couldn't believe such badly written tosh was so popular.

Bunnygirlie · 18/01/2013 22:25

Just popping in to say, 50 shades of crap - don't bother! The Hunger Games though is brill for a holiday read :-)

OP posts:
MotherOfCleo · 18/01/2013 22:32

I didnt read 50 shades on principle, I dont like being one of the masses, plus it sounded like crap. Although Im glad it actually got people reading and not watching Jeremy Kyle.

On another note, does anyome live with a man who is unable to turn off lights, shut cupboard doors, put his dirty plates and mugs in the dishwasher, sometimes it is too much for him to even flush the loo.....geez hes a catch Hmm It can be so frustrating....actually why do I need a child it would seem I already have one. I love him dearly but he's a pain in my neck too!

MotherOfCleo · 18/01/2013 22:34

I loved the hunger games bunny! Ive read the trilogy twice already....loser I know.

viviennewestwould · 18/01/2013 23:24

Give me fucking strength. Too much Pre-seed coupled with an overdose of Viagra equals inability to ejaculate...

I look well-fit in me knicks, too Sad

MotherOfCleo · 18/01/2013 23:35

ahh shame viv Sad gutted for you

viviennewestwould · 18/01/2013 23:41

Mother, this lazy-arse douche-bag boyfriend of yours: can he ejaculate?

MotherOfCleo · 18/01/2013 23:43

ive let myself down, we are not DTD tonight, its my turn to pounce and I do not have pounce in me, I am beyond tired! May have to jump him in the morning instead. I got my positive OPK on Tuesday so hope we have done enough......feel dispointed in myself but tbh id fall asleep on the job! Sad

Rumplestrumpet · 19/01/2013 02:00

What a fabulous bunch of book snobs - I'm in good company. I'll give 50 shades a miss then, and look out for the Hunger Games instead.

Sorry viv and mother haven't had much luck on the DTD front tonight, wishing you luck in the morning with your pouncing/high brow soap reading.

And mother - my DH has only one house chore that I ask of him, which is washing up the stuff that doesn't go in the dishwasher (I'm under doc's orders not to do it due to my exzema), and I have known saucepans to languish in the sink for days on end. To be fair, he's generally uber tidy, likes to have everything in it's place and moans at me for leaving stuff everywhere ("how many hand bags do you need to collect in the hallway floor?"). And I'm guessing that your DH also has other qualities that you love him for, so I hope you can forgive him enough to jump him in the morning!

retroelement · 19/01/2013 06:53

I have read 50 shades, and it was the most badly-written piece of shite I have ever read. Repetitive, contradictory, with horrible characters and really unsexy sex. Its popularity astounds me.

I am up early thinking about going for a run in the snow. Part of me is repeating "if you really wanted a baby you would do it" and the rest of me is thinking how nice and warm it is in my bed with the cat and my book.

MotherOfCleo · 19/01/2013 08:29

viv sorry i cross posted, yep that bit he can do.

Bunnygirlie · 19/01/2013 10:45

Morning! Good news, DTD this morn! Bad news, way past OV time Sad

BUT this is good really, I think our problem is just not having regular sex and just leaving it till DTD week which makes hubby feel pressured and stressed and stuff doesn't happen if you know what I mean! So we are working on building up our frequency and stamina which will hopefully help with DTD when we need to and also mean hubby has fresh super swimmers when it counts!

I really hope this will help as hubby has lost his confidence Sad and I haven't been particularly happy or nice coz I want this so much now!

viviennewestwould · 19/01/2013 11:25

Well done, Bunny, old girl! Mr. Viv is under strict instructions not to take the Viagra around ovulation. He bleated how much more enjoyable sex is for him with the Viagra as it makes his penis fully engorged blah, blah. I told him it is more important that he is capable of ejaculating and that our 'enjoyment' is superfluous at this stage in the game. I then removed my bossy hat.

Retro, unless you have spiked training shoes I wouldn't risk the run. Perfect excuse to languish in yer pit.

We are going to a late Christmas meal organised by Mr. Viv's badminton league tonight. Apparently, he is going to fill me with sperm before we go out Hmm

Pipbin · 19/01/2013 14:13

I haven't been for a run in the snow, too dangerous.
Also, I can't run for two weeks now after the op. That added to the fact that exercise will make sod all difference I feel no guilt for not going.

Boodle9 · 19/01/2013 15:01

We haven't been for our run either! Am planning on a walk out in the snow at dusk - it looks so pretty then!

Enjoy your meal out, viv - sounds like you might need some kind of plug though...

viviennewestwould · 19/01/2013 19:10

Epic fail yet again Sad

twinklestar2 · 19/01/2013 20:03

:( viv

navis176 · 19/01/2013 20:35

echo twinkle's Sad face viv

living in the mountains means snow is no excuse for no exercise - have packed in a solid 4 hours today and feel a lot better for it. Had a chat with OH too (thanks viv and rumple for stern talking to) so hopefully he has some better idea of how I feel and why I might act like a crazy lady on occasion...but for now fortunately [relative] sanity has returned Grin

pip how are you feeling after the op?
