Bunny I hear you. My super stressed DH often can't DtD when we need to as he's just too wiped out from work pressure. At first, I would subtly try to seduce him at the appropriate moment, but after several months, I lost heart too and would get pretty upset when he just fell asleep (master seductress, me). In the last few months, I 've just been saying, quite matter-of-factly, it would be great if we could get some sex in over the next few days, and leaving it at that. It sort of works.. The thing that's made the biggest difference for us has been DTD when it's clearly just for fun - ie, I'll say i've tested negative, or just after AF, and then jump his bones anyway, so we keep up a sexual relationship that is as much about us loving each other as baby making. Also, just getting cosy, but not necessarily sexy, when he gets home from work, but telling him I fancy him, and then not pushing it any further. By the time he comes to bed, he feels like reciprocating properly.
I'm with Viv and Pip - keeping up the reassurance that he's more than just a sperm bank, and having relaxed, open conversations about what you both want/need.. Good luck xx

I'm back to the hospital tomorrow for a repeat scan of Humperdinck, with the head consultant, so fx he doesn't decide it's more sinister.
Pip do you have a date for your lap and dye yet? I'm going to see if they can do the dye job whilst they're in there, so maybe we'll be surgery buddies?

twinklestar2 · 11/01/2013 08:32

Funny you were talking about this last night cause when me and oh went to dtd we had to stop! Too hot in the house, too late and couldn't be bothered! Felt too forced and not sexy. Will try again tonight!

viviennewestwould · 11/01/2013 11:05

Captain, sound advice. What on earth is Humperdinck?

Good luck tonight, Twinkle, and keep his your pecker up.

Ugh. My libido has vanished entirely. Could it be the stress of the weekend? Will it come back??

captainmoll · 11/01/2013 12:32

Viv Sorry to hear your libidos are out of synch! It sounds like you've had a very emotional and stressful time though, so give yourself a break, sweetie. Do some snuggling.

Humperdinck is the name I gave to the mysterious lump on my left ovary that the sonographer found when I went for my first infertility investigative ultrasound. The diagnosis then was that it was most likely a dermoid cyst. If you haven't heard of these, they are what happens when an ova decides to go it alone and start growing new cells. Because an ova is a stem cells, what it grows can be anything - hair, teeth etc. So I thought I best name to my hairy little monster.
I just got back from the hospital appointment:
The head Gynae has just given me a very thorough re-scan though and thinks it's not a dermoid cyst after all. It may be a fibroid or it may be ...? I asked if he still thought it was benign, and he said yes, but took blood to test for sinister things anyway.
He says that regardless of what it is, it's not affecting my fertility as the right ovary and uterus are both in good nick. He now wants to do another scan - an MMI this time, to get a better look at the lump, and will take the surgery decision from there.
That said, they have to do the laparoscopy anyway to do the dye test, so now I have even longer to wait, as I now have to wait for the MMI before they'll put me on the surgery waiting list. FFS. And no TTC in between time.
DH still has not gone for his sperm test as work is just too demanding. I am getting really sick of his work. I wish he would just put his health first for once. He's had the paperwork to go get the test done for over a month now. *sigh.
Hope all's well with everyone else.

viviennewestwould · 11/01/2013 13:10

Oh, Captain, you must feel as though you are being thwarted every bloody turn. What a damned shame. Tell your husband to pull his finger out. How long until the MMI, do you think? Sending you some patience vibes...

Bunnygirlie · 11/01/2013 15:45

Hey ladies, not sure I'll be able to get online this weekend so have a lovely couple of days whatever you are doing. See you Sunday x

happylass · 11/01/2013 16:06

Aw captain so sorry to hear that your journey is taking longer than you thought but fx that it all gets sorted for you soon. Sounds really positive about your right side being in good nick too.

Not sure what's happening with me. Should be OVing today but not had a positive on the OPK yet, though yesterday's line was much stronger than today's or Wednesday's. Had a bit of a temperature rise too this morning but not as much as at OV time last month. Confused! Oh well we can but try. Feeling a bit fed up with this TTC lark today. Though I know I've nothing to complain about compared to some of you lovely ladies. Adding myself to the list for hopefully the last time.......

Bunny, 33 in few weeks, TTC since June, AF due end Jan.
Happylass 34 (and in total denial about turning 35 in a few weeks!) cycle 5 AF due Jan 25th???

Happy birthday twinkle

Can I join in ladies? I'm just getting the hang of MN (I had stayed away for so long thinking it was only for mums!), and would love to share the TTC journey with some friendly souls - plus love the fact that there are so many Jan/Feb babies among us!

Boodle9 · 11/01/2013 18:22

Yikes - I didn't come on here yesterday and now there's loads to read! Oh dear, we are an unfortunate bunch at the moment - sorry to everyone struggling with confusing cycles, frustrating hospital waiting lists and the pressure of trying to DTD with military precision and timing. It is Friday though, that hopefully cheers some of us up a bit? (It certainly does me!)

Happy, I'm having a bit of an annoying cycle too - I'm 4DPO but my temperatures are rubbish (as usual) only 36.41 this morning so I dare say this will be another month of AF arriving by 8 or 9DPO. Humph.

Happy birthday to Twinkle by the way! Smile Hope you are having a good one!

captain so sorry for your long wait and really hope they get done with all the investigations soon& you don't have to wait too long.

My doc didn't think I was worth any investigations apart from a pelvic exam yesterday (cold hands + semi full bladder = uncomfortable!) I came away with yet another NSAID prescription but its better than a poke in the eye I guess Confused

happylass · 11/01/2013 20:23

Happy Birthday to you Twinkle!!

Boodle my temp went up 0.24 degrees today compared to yesterday. Is that enough to indicate OV?? Only 2nd cycle that I've been temping. Last month was a clear drop then sharp rise at OV time. Think have screwed things up a bit this time by being ill over New Year and not being consistent with timings whilst off work due to not being arsed to set the alarm for the same time each day Chart looks a bit like an ECG of someone having a heart attack! Been getting some mild OV pains this eve so fingers crossed. You are right though this thread is waaaay overdue some good news!!

happylass · 11/01/2013 20:25

Also love that the bit about me being in denial over turning 35 has disappeared from the list! Thanks for assisting me in my denial!! Wink

happylass · 11/01/2013 20:28

Also welcome Rumple!!

Boodle9 · 11/01/2013 20:39

Hey happylass, I'd love to say that I could give some good advice on temping, having been doing it for 15 cycles. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I understand them any better now than I did back at the start!

What I can tell you is that this month, my ovulation has been detected at CD 15, and it's a solid red line (positive OPK, ovulation pain and CM all fitted in with it). My temps leading up to and post ovulation have been:

CD 13: 36.12
CD 14: 36.18
CD 15: 36.10
CD 16: 36.26
CD 17: 36.27
CD 18: 36.41
CD 19: 36.42

So you can see, My initial rise the day after ovulation was only 0.16! Even now, it's only gone up by 0.32!!! I think your 0.24 is enough to indicate ov, just as long as the temps stay up, obviously! Whether it is a healthy rise or not is another question...I'm hardly a modern-day fertility goddess after all...

You could always try putting in your today's temperature for Saturday and Sunday too to see if it puts in cross hairs for you. Not that I've ever been that obsessed with my chart, oh no...

happylass · 11/01/2013 21:26

Thanks Boodle. By the way what are cross hairs?? Am pretty new to all this temping lark! Last month's OV rise was 0.46 so this just doesn't l Guess I'll have to wait and see if temp stays up now, Fx!!

happylass · 11/01/2013 21:27

Bloody IPhone. Try again.
Thanks Boodle. By the way what are cross hairs?? Am pretty new to all this temping lark! Last month's OV rise was 0.46 so this just doesn't look as impressive. Guess I'll have to wait and see if temp stays up now, Fx!!

viviennewestwould · 11/01/2013 21:31

Welcome, Rumple. Happy, your chart needs to see a sustained rise of at least .2 for ovulation to be confirmed. Ovulation occurs the day before the sustained shift, so you ov'd yesterday, it would seem. There is no need to panic if luteal phase temps look shit. As long as you can see a biphasic pattern to your charts you can be confident you're ovulating. I see tons of charts in the FF gallery where women have got pregnant with (what I would consider to be) shit post-ov temperatures. Along with checking your cm and using OPKs you should find that charting is a pretty accurate method of confirming ovulation. I have found that analysing my temps during the 2ww is nothing but pointless. I simply end up convincing myself that I'm pregnant Sad

viviennewestwould · 11/01/2013 21:34

Cross-hairs are the vertical and horizontal red lines which appear when ovulation is confirmed. The horizontal line is your 'coverline' (a simple tool to let you 'see' your biphasic pattern more easily) and the vertical line pinpoints ovulation.
