I hope nobody else has started a May conception thread; April isn't going to be it for me, so onwards and forwards ladies!

Yep hopecat iv got cramps today very niggling cramps maybe its all in my head I thought I was pg last month

Hopecat · 21/04/2006 22:46

Maybe you were! 50-60% of pregnancies end in MC, and most of those will be chemical PGs.

Enough of them carry on that there still seem to be kids everywhere, though.

Lets keep our fingers crossed that we both get to hop over to the ante-natal threads. It would be a new one wouldn't it? Due Jan 2007. Ahhhh...

laughalot · 22/04/2006 10:14

Jan 2007 sounds perfect to me

Hopecat · 23/04/2006 14:59

Happy Sunday everyone.

I'm on CD19 now, and I've had tiny little cramps in my uteral area since CD15 now.

I know everyone on the Conception Threads is always saying 'don't get excited by the symptoms', but how can you help it? I find it easier to allow myself some growing excitement (balanced by having a life, obviously). Then, if and when it comes to nothing, I feel sad, then get on with it. Surely that's healthier than denying to yourself that you have any hopeful feelings.

Small rant there: just been having this conversation with my Mum. Grin

Anyone else feeling any stirrings (and I don't mean rude ones)?Wink

coggy · 23/04/2006 15:25

Hello...back from hols.
CD24 for me although this was the month that I was going to forget all about dates etc. Not so easy is it?!
Hopecat - did you have a good time with your doggy on Woolacombe beach?
I hope that the Devon air did you and your dp good and that you have managed to take a little extra souvenier home with you!!!
I have NO idea how to spell that!!
Blush oops!!

weewilliewinkie · 23/04/2006 15:41

Hi ladies

Please can I join you? I'm ttc after my m/c in Feb...need some support!

Only on CD3..have started temping, using OPK's, taking EPO, taking prenatal supplements, exercising, losing a bit of weight, not drinking..think I'm obsessed!

Any more tips would be gratefully received...Smile

coggy · 23/04/2006 15:44

Best tip that I am given (although VERY hard to actually do) is relax!
I tried to forget what CD I was on this month as we went away on holiday, relaxing merrily...but I found it impossible to forget!

weewilliewinkie · 23/04/2006 15:45

hmm..relaxing...now that's an interesting thought! Finding it so hard to think about anything other than getting pregnant! I'm really trying not to let it take over my life, but it's so easy to let it become all-consuming!

coggy · 23/04/2006 15:49

I know...last time we ttc it took nearly 5 years and I got very stressed if dh was not 'in the mood' or was away working.
This time, even tho sometimes I feel a bit frustrated, I try not to let it interfere because you can end up not bd-ing at all if you argue about ttc!

Hopecat · 23/04/2006 17:31

Hi www - welcome. Smile

I think it's time for some more babydust:

I've not managed to get knocked up yet, so you have full permission not to listen to a word I say, but I know exactly how you're feeling.

The only thing that got me off the obsessional TTC boat was going on holiday. Came back refreshed and with a spring in my step.

Coggy: I had a fantastic time, thanks. Best day was on Putsborough beach. Me & DH gave it a really good go Wink, so here's hoping.

maazaa · 23/04/2006 17:32

Hello ladies

We've only just started trying for the very first time, so I have no experience at all! I know that we are both thinking and talking about TTC a lot - I really can't imagine how much harder it must be after a m/c.

I wondered whether to give up wine - I don't want to draw attention to myself as no-one knows we're trying, so I've cut down hugely and am driving to social occasions! I bought some Folic Acid yesterday - is that a good idea to start taking it now? I feel silly asking questions - it must be frustrating to hear from someone who's just starting the TTC process if you've been going a while. Blush

Hopecat · 23/04/2006 17:44

Hi Maazaa. Yes, definitely start taking Folic Acid now. Ideally you should take it for 3 months before you conceive, but as long as you make sure you're getting lots of green leafy veg & orange juice you'll be fine.

I've been taking the stuff since Jan '05: I could be a donor.

It does also appear that booze is a huge factor in fertility. Some people say none, some 2 units a week, but I like the study that said women who drank moderately (about 8 units a week) conceived more quickly than women who didn't drink at all. This may be due to it's inhibition-releasing properties, though. Wink

Also important for your DP/DH to cut down on the booze.

The other thing is (spouting everything I've learned in effort to impress) it's very important that if either of you smoke marajuana you stop now: especially your dp/dh. It actually gets the sperm stoned. They start swimming all lazily and going the wrong way. Funny but true. (My best friend's a doctor).

Good thing about giving up booze: you can eat more cake.

maazaa · 23/04/2006 17:50

Thanks, Hopecat - ace advice! I have quite a stressful job and was having one or two glasses of wine per evening, which wasn't a good idea, so have stopped that - had a glass with friends at dinner last night. Funny thing is, now there is a good reason to stop, I have no desire for a glass of wine at all! Neither of us smoke tobacco or hash, so no problem there! I have a hilarious picture in my mind of dizzy sperms, craving munchies!!!

coggy · 23/04/2006 18:06

LOL at your post to Maazaa and your comment about Putsborough beach!
Re-read it a couple of times...sounds dodgy!!! :o

coggy · 23/04/2006 18:07

Hopecat........
(meant to say....)

peachygirl · 23/04/2006 18:21

Hi all glad you had a good break Hopecat,
welcome new people.
Maazaa remember not to be hard on yourself with the alcohol there is no need completely cut it out. just cut down and be moderate. Have a

I don't drink alot but if I want a glass or two then I have them (especially after a bad day at work)
Hope everyone is well

maazaa · 23/04/2006 19:13

Gosh, that article is interesting - thanks for your reassuring words! I might have a glass tonight and not worry too much. Though just had argument with not so DH on phone, so not sure how the evening will pan out....:(

hi weewilliewinkie and maazaa welcome, we are all very freindly on here.

was going to give you advice but no need it been done. good luck

Hopecat · 23/04/2006 20:38

Great article Peachy! I've added it to my favouries.

Coggy: I looked again at my post about Putsborough Beach: oops. Far too many families around for that kind of malarkey. Blush Did you have a good break?

Maazaa: sorry to hear you had a row. Stressful job + TTC + no booze takes it toll. Me & dh had a tough time for a while last year with work & TTC stress, but we're much more relaxed now. Thing I hate most is when you have a row around OV time, and don't have sex, and feel like you've missed your window.

I'm going to have a glass of wine now. Smile

coggy · 23/04/2006 20:54

Thanks Hopecat...we had a fantastic time away.
Decided not to think about ttc (impossible!).
Got annoyed on second night as dh had far too much to drink and I discovered that I wasn't able to forget about dates etc like I though I would.
But hey....didn't stress and enjoyed the rest of the holiday loads!
Starting clomid next month so big effort then!!

trace2 · 24/04/2006 10:07

so whoss on day 21 like me?

laughalot · 24/04/2006 10:44

trace me 20

maazaa · 24/04/2006 11:15

I have no idea which day I'm on! If AF finished on Friday just gone, would that make Saturday CD 1?

When is the optimum conception time? Around CD14-15?

trace2 · 24/04/2006 11:23

yes ans yes, but everyones diffrent
